Turning off application.cfm

Hello,
not sure about this but is there a tag or method whereby I
can overwrite the CF servers automatic inclusion of an
application.cfm (.cfc). I have one page in a sub-subfolder of a
website where the application.cfm is in the top (parent) folder. I
am having problems including this page in a programme and am
looking at any possible causes for this.
One thought was that some methods in my application.cfm may
be causing the error. Without removing or altering the
application.cfm in anyway... is it possible to just deactivate it
on certain pages?

No. There is not.

To bypass this grandparent Application.cfm, you simply have
to a "nearer"
Application.cfm which is empty. But...

triggers the process
that seeks an Application.cfm. If you're simply including the
file,
Application.cfm plays no part in it (beyond what I already
said).

There's no such thing as "methods" in an Application.cfm. Do
you mean
UDFs? Without you actually posting your error, it's a bit
hard to guess

Turn off applications opening when restarting computer

I hate in Lion how when I restart my computer, all of the applications I had open before reopen. Can I turn that off? It takes start up forever. I've seen how to uncheck "Restore windows when quitting and reopening apps" and I've uncheck that, but it doesn't work for this case. I just want to start up like normal and I pick the apps I want to open at the time.
What do I need to do?

First, the best thing to do is to make sure that you quit applications before shutting down; also, check in your Users & Groups Pane in System Prefeences to see what if anything you have in Login items. If you don't want it to open, delete it from there.
Thirdly, if you want to turn off any chance that any apps will open, you can do the following; please note that this is system wide, so don't do it unless you don't want anything to open:
Go to your User's Library (now hidden) by pressing the Option key and going to Go in Finder menu. Scroll down to Library and open it. Scroll down to Saved Application State folder. Open that folder and delete every entry. Then hightlight the folder icon and press these keys: Command and I. In the resulting window, scroll down and unlock the lock and enter your password. Scroll up and tick the "locked" option. Then lock the lock by clicking it. Done.

Or are you referring to floating windows/cascading? You change the settings in:

So frustrating! macbook "quits" on me, turning off applications

so i have this huge issue where my macbook pro will just "quit" my applications. it turns a blue and restarts everything! i dont know what to do or how to really explain it. my safari also quits often. i thought it was just that but when i open more than 1 application or it quits on me.

The startup disk may need repairing. Follow these instructions. You will need your install disc.

Can I turn off Application update on iPod Touch?

I received an update reminder yesterday for 'Battery Magic Pro' and downloaded it onto my iPod Touch. It would not launch. It just returned me to the applications list screen. Others have had the same issue with the 4.1 update and posted the problem on the App Store. I deleted the application and then installed the older version from my iTunes library. However, the App Store icon on my iPod Touch still shows a '1' indicating that an application update is available. How can I get rid of that message? There seems to be no way to tell the iPhone software to ignore an update.

Stubchain is correct, just watch out what else you turn off. The main rule for turning off applications using the msconfig command is if you don't know what the process is, leave is running. If you are unsure what will happen if you uncheck multiple processes. Turn off one at a time and restart windows. This way if something going wrong you know which process caused it and you will be able to boot up in safe mode to fix it.

I am currently developing a J2EE application using WLS 6.1.
My team and I have to implement a security requirement to suit our company's needs.
The security requirements are that, users' password need to be aged (30 days maximum) and we need to provided a GUI front-end (JSP) to allow users to change their password when these expire after 30 days.
Our internal contacts in the company, have already taken the lead to find out about whether we will be able to use the WLS 6.1 platform to do this and the answer we got back, was.
Now we need to develop our own security module.
I have 2 questions:
1. How can we turn off the WLS security in order develop our own application-based security module?
2. How can we develop a security module that allows us to age users' password and provide them with facilities to change their passwords when these expire?
At the moment, we are using the default BEA WebLogic login.jsp page and there some configuration in the web.xml for this. I will be grateful if you could advise me on how to turn this default security off so that we can write our own security module.
