Turning off backlight while docked???
Hi all: Is there a setting to turn off the backlight while docked or other connected? Seems silly to have the screen light on all the time? When I put my imac to sleep then the backlight is shut down, but while the imac is UP the light ALWAYS stays on.
Thanks, Chris.
PS, my Dell Axim PDA has a setting to turn off the backlight while docked.
Problem solved. Seems that if you have iTunes set to "Enable Disk Use" the light will stay on. Disabling this will make the iPod go dark once any sync activity is complete. However, you will not be able to directly copy to the iPod disk and it will not appear on the desktop.

Re: i was charging my iphone 3GS yesterday in electricity when once it turned off suddenly while it was in quarter battery. I tried charging it again but it didint open, i tried to plug it into my laptop but itunes didnt recognize it and it doesnt work.
Hello candymerna,
At this point I would recommeng resetting the device if if will not turn on.
Resetting your device
Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button and the Home button together for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
From: iPhone, iPad, iPod touch: Turning off and on (restarting) and resetting
http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1430
If it does turn on, but will not charge then take a look at this part of the article iPhone: Hardware troubleshooting found http://support.apple.com/kb/ts2802
Power/Battery
Battery does not charge from the USB power adapter
Important: Only original iPhone can be charged from a FireWire-based power source. If iPhone is connected to a computer that's turned off or is in sleep or standby mode, the battery may drain.
Verify that the outlet being used is working.
Try another USB power adapter if available.
If no other USB power adapter is available, try connecting to a high-power USB 2.0 port (not a keyboard). The computer must be turned on and not in sleep or standby mode.
Try another USB cable if available.
Also refer to iPhone and iPod touch: Charging the battery.
If it is charging, but not recognized in iTunes take a look at one of these articles depending on your Operating System.

my iphone 4 only turns on when its plugged into a wall and when it finally turns on it lasts for about a minute then it turns off and while its on the signal says searching, what should i do?
Try:
- Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
- Reset all settings
Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.
All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.
- Restore from backup. See:
iOS: How to back up
- Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.
If still problem, make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store since it appears you have a hardware problem. You likely have a bad battery.
Apple Retail Store - Genius Bar
Apple will exchange your iPod for a refurbished one with a new battery for $79. They do not fix yours.
Apple - iPod Repair price
A third-party place like the following will replace yur battery for less. Google for more.

Is it possible to turn off the Apple dock completely?
I was wondering if it was possible to turn off the Apple dock completely without causing irreparable damage to my system. I am considering using Drag Thing, but when I am using it the functionality seems redundant with the Apple dock, also using both programs in tandem uses up more precious memory. The Drag Thing website links to the following tutorial as a solution:
http://www.creativemac.com/2003/02_feb/tutorials/dockdead2030225.htm
But it was published a long time ago, and I don't want to do anything rash that would damage my system, I mean I don't dislike the Apple dock enough to do that. Thanks in advance for the consideration and suggestions.I could only discover an option to hide the dock from within Drag Thing. I am looking to make the dock disappear completely. Drag Thing does not officially support this option, giving this answer in the Q & A section of their website:
"*It is possible, but I wouldn't recommend it. Since people often ask how to do it anyway, here's a good tutorial I found on how to kill the Dock by Kevin Schmitt. This may have unforseen side effects however, which is why I've not documented the procedure myself, or added an option for this in DragThing. I keep the Dock hidden off the bottom of the screen on my own Mac.*"
Is the dock so embedded within the Finder's operations that killing it will affect system performance? -
How to turn off 3G while open 2G for iphone 4s?
How to turn off 3G while open 2G for iphone 4s?
Apple removed the ability to disable 3G on the iPhone 4S. iOS 5.1 beta has added the switch back. Whether we'll see it in the final release is unknown. We'll just have to wait & see.

4s turn off suddenly while using
my 4s will turn off suddenly while using ,and i have to hit home and power button same time to turn on the iphone.it happens every two days, and sometimes twice a day.is it a hardware problem?
possibly
you want to restore the device as new after backing up your information then test it out
that will tell you whether its the device itself or the software causing the issue
sometimes apps can be corrupt or anything liek that causing it to do that -
Why my ipad turn off suddenly while working..??
why my ipad turn off suddenly while working..??
I have been having the same problem for about a month. It has now gotten so bad I can no longer use my iPad 3.
Having problems with my iPad 3 shutting down, starting up, shutting down continuously.
I have tried closing all apps in Task Bar & the sleep/home routine. They worked for awhile, but now nothing is working!
I was told that this is a common problem with the iPad 3 and that it is a manufacturers defect.
It is 14 months old and Apple wants over $300 for send-in service. I have tried to reset to factory defaults, but ipad keeps shutting down & restoration never finishes. I am not sure whether to have it repaired or cut my losses and move on to something else. Frustrating & expensive. Any suggestions??? -

MBP turning off randomly while on battery
So my MBP keeps turning off randomly while I'm using battery, first few times it happened I thought it had just got to hot and turned off because of that. But after it happend a few times i noticed that its not even hot to the touch. Its happening what ever i am doing even when I have very low cpu usage like listening to i tunes, or just watching a movie.
Any ideas what it could be?
Thanks for any help you guys can give.I have the same problem. It is most likely the battery has become faulty or possibly damaged. Best to replace the battery or if you can call one of the genius' at the mac store.

Can I turn off TV while downloading rental on Apple TV?
Is it okay to turn off my TV while downloading a rental on Apple TV? Will it continue downloading
or will I have to start the download over if I turn off the TV?
Thanks for your help
Cheers
mrjazzi recall that when i last rented a movie (HD rental), than i was able to change the source on the TV so that i could watch TV while the rental was downloading on the appletv.
whether turning the TV off would be seen as the same as changing the source would be something that you would need to check on your individual TV though. -
Thinkpad Yoga Brightness turn off backlight
I have an "issue" with my Yoga.
It used to be that when I turned down brightness completely the screen would go black because there was no more backlight at all.
However it now seems that even completely turned down there is still some backlight left meaning i can't turn off the screen completely.
I really like being able to turn off the screen quickly, for example to save battery when rendering or when I leave the laptop unatended and don't want people to see what im working on.
Is there any way to get the old behaviour back?
Not quite sure what caused the change in but im guessing some kind of driver update...
Running Windows 8.1 Pro 64bitUsually Intel graphics drivers don't have "backlight off" as the lowest setting, so in principle, this was a 'bug' that was 'fixed'.
You could roll back your graphics driver and see if it brings back this functionality. I'd just pin something like LCDoff to the taskbar though.

Safe to leave phone (turned off) in multimedia dock for several days?
If my Droid X is turned off and I do not need to use it (literally do not need to turn it on) for several days, is it okay to leave it in the multimedia desktop dock (or whatever it is called)?
Similarly, is it okay to leave it plugged in to the wall charger?
I believe that some of these devices, if not the phone itself, are designed to slow down the charge as the battery comes closer to full charge, and then to turn off charging until the battery charge goes down (either do to use or lack of use over time), in which case it starts charging again, but only a little if it is near a full charge. I doubt that charging through the USB cable has this effect (unless it is built into the phone or the motodrivers that the phone autoinstalls on the computer the first time you connect it with a USB cable for any reason).
So are any or all of these 3 things safe to leave connected when my Droid X is turned off for several days on a full charge: 1) multimedia desk dock, 2) wall charger, and/or 3) USB cable?Yes, once you'r phone reaches 100% charge it will stop charging. The problem is that if it is turned off, it will not automatically start charging again, it will need to either be turned on, or unplugged and plugged back in. However, since you have a new battery, a phone turned off will not drain your battery much even over an extended period of time such as a week.
