Turning off find my phone to enable restore....password not accepted

Hi
My iphone5 has lost its phone connection and the carrier bar has disappeared from settings. I am being told to back up and restore from itunes but to do this I need to turn off Find My Phone and it won't do this (wont accept my password, which I have checked several times is the correct one). Help! Thanks
