Turning off iCal alarm...

How do you turn off the iCal alarm for holiday subscriptions?

Well I think atom has the same issue i have. I imported holidays into my everyday use calendar which by default adds a 15 alarm.  That means all the holiday, like yesterday's john f kennedy birthday and today's memorial day, being all day events, ring at 11:45 pm the night before, after I have gone to sleep!!!.
So other than deleting the events from my everyday calendar, which i want to have the default 15 alarm, and importing holidays into a holiday specific calendar, with no default reminder, is there an easier way to do it?

  • Turn off iCal Alarms?

I just got an iPhone and am working on getting it and my PC and my Mac and Entourage and iCal etc to all play nice together.
I use entourage to connect via OWA to my corporate exchange server.
Entourage is set to Sync to iCal and Address book.
iCal is set to publish to .Mac and to sync via iTunes to the iPhone.
However, I really do not need an alarm to pop up on my PC, iCal, Entourage and iPhone for every event.
    any ideas?

That helps a bit - but what I really want to do is turn off alarms completely on at least one system. I sync stuff through iCal so that I can have my wife's work schedule updated and on the web for my parents to see as they have to watch our son on days when the wife is working and I am out of town. But my wife rarely needs to see any of my work reminders even while she is looking at her own calendar. (and she does not have her own .mac account)

  • Turning off ical alarms

I use both entourage and Ical because my company has its mail on exchange and entourage is more convenient to send meeting invites than ical. however i much prefer the ical interface to enter meetings etc. as a result i always have both entourage and ical running which means i get twice all meeting reminders. is there a way to turn of completely all the ical reminders?

Hi, I was having the same problem. I use Entourage and recently tried iCal. However, I liked Entourage better so when I quit using iCal, I still received all the alerts/alarms from iCal along with the alerts from Entourage. This is what I did to get the iCal Alerts to stop showing up:
    1. Go to your System Preferences and click on Accounts.
    2. Make sure you have your account selected (on the left).
    3. Then on the right, click Login Items. Do you see something listed like iCal Alerts Daemon (sorry, I don't remember exactly what mine said as I have already deleted mine). Also, make sure it is listed with iCal, otherwise you may end up deleting a different Alerts Daemon instead of the one for iCal, I have another Alerts Daemon because of the Entourage notifications.
    4. So, if an iCal Alerts Daemon is there, select it and click the - to delete it.
That's it, you shouldn't receive the iCal Alerts or Alarms anymore.
    Hope this helps!

  • Can't turn off default alarm. Aggrivating!

I have my iCal set up to sync with Google Calendar because of my Droid. I have 6 calendars, and by default iCal adds new events to my Google "personal" calendar. This is fine.
What is not fine is that any time I create a new event I find myself stuck with a blasted Email Alert and Message Alert. I do not want them!
I've gone into preferences, I've checked the box next to "turn off all alarms"... if I create an event and I create it under, say my "Work" calendar, then the alerts don't show up - they don't exist. That's what I want! Just for some reason I cannot set up my stupid default "Personal" calendar to create an event without setting up alerts.
    Help!

Ok, this can be ignored now. When I made my post I found a similar topic and it linked me here:
    https://discussions.apple.com/message/11546885?messageID=11546885&amp%3b#1154688 5
It wasn't an iCal issue at all, it was Google. All fixed! No more blasted alerts that I don't want/need!

  • Is it possible to turn off Calendar alarms on BB but leave them in Outlook?

This probably cannot be done but I thought I'd ask anyhow.
Is there any way to disable or turn off calendar reminder alarms on the blackberry yet leave them enabled on desktop Outlook calendar?
    -Tom

    Welcome to the forums.
Yes, you can turn them off in the Calendar Options.  You can set the Default Reminder to 'None' and the Display Reminders  to 'No'.
If you find a post here helpful, please consider giving the poster some Kudos

  • I have to turn off ZOne ALarm web security for Firefox to open properly

I have Firefox 5.0 and Zone Alarm Extreme Security (10.0.246.000). When I open Firefox I get the welcome screen, as if I have just downloaded Firefox (no home page and no bookmarks - options are set at default). So, I close the browser and disable Zone Alarm Web Security and reopen Firefox. My home page and bookmarks load properly, options as previously set. I turn on ZA Web Security and all is fine until I close Firefox - then I have to do this all over again.

P.S. This copy of a post by BadK_FFox (from last week) may also help:

Firefox 5 will not start with Zone Alarm Ver 10.0.240.000<br>
    '''Quote:'''
    I'm running Win7 x64 with ZoneAlarm Extreme Security 10.0.241.000
I had the same problem with Firefox 4. After turning off ForceField Toolbar, it started working fine.
Then I updated to Firefox 5 and it wouldn't start, instead it was showing an error message from ZA...
I searched mozilla support and followed the instructions here: http://kb.mozillazine.org/Browser_will_not_start_up on the topic"Firefox does not start after updating with ZoneAlarm ForceField enabled".
The correct instructions for this ZA version should be: "Internet -> Web Security -> Settings, and click Clear Virtual Data"
After that I could open Firefox again! Then I realized it was still version 4... I installed the update, and everything went smooth. Checked again if Forcefield toolbar was inactive (it was) and opened a few pages, closed Firefox and opened again. After a while it wouldn't open...
AGAIN the "Clear Virtual Data" did the trick...
This time I clicked on Settings (next to "Clear Virtual Data") -> Advanced Settings, and turned off "Enable Virtualization".
Until ZA get a fix for this, either we turn it off or clear virtual data every few moves...

  • How can I turn off clock alarm sound

I have several clock alarms set for daily or weekly recurrences (picking up kids, etc). They work great, and are very easy to set up and use. The only problem is that there seems to be no way to easily turn them off.
When I use the ring silencer, it does not disable these alarms. I can turn the ringer volume all the way down, which keeps them pretty quiet, but they don't actually get turned off completely.
This means that if I'm in a situation where I don't want my phone to make noise, I need to power it off completely. Is there not a way to either:
    1) disable alarm notices
    2) turn off the volume for these alarms?
I understand why Apple may not want these alarms disabled by the silencer switch, but they need to have an easily implemented alternative.

I only use the alarm clock to wake me up - I don't want that silent!  For everything else, I use calendar alarms - these just vibrate when the phone is in silent mode.  The built in calendar is a bit rubbish, I recommend iKoyomi2: http://phobos.apple.com/WebObjects/MZStore.woa/wa/viewSoftware?id=377326047&mt=8 &u1=web&affId=1860684

  • How do I temporarily turn off ical reminders from iCloud?

I have reminders popping up all the time, which is OK, unless I am listening to music and I want them turned off.  How do I temporarily turn them off?  Also, is there any way to control the amount of "snooze" time like the old version of ical?

Oh, that's a general instructions many installers give to avoid conflicts. I suggest ignoring that instruction and trying to install normally. After all, can you really trust a downloaded program??
Regarding your antivirus status, it's critical to have antivirus software, and Firefox doesn't offer that feature. If you check the "Security Center" in the Windows Control Panel, it should tell you whether you have antivirus software installed and, if so, which program it is. If you don't have one, try Microsoft's free one:

If you have any suspicion that your system might not be completely clean, these two tools are highly regarded for cleaning up:

  • Turn off iCal reminders on MacBook Air.

I have searched the internet about how to turn off the reminders from my iCal, but I can`t find the check box where it says: "Turn off all reminders".
Is there another way to do it? Its driving me crazy!!!

I don't see an option for turning off all reminders but you can set the default to not create them in Preferences... > Alerts.

  • Turn Off iCal Publish Gmail Calendar Alert

I have iCal and it is constantly showing a badge icon of 1 and beside my gmail account it shows a "1" instead of the WiFi looking symbol next to the others.  Basically gmail wants me to publish my calendar and won't let me turn off this notice and still be able to use the badge notificaiton for other stuff.  Not sure how to fix this as I do not want my personal calender published for the world to see.  Anyone have any fixes?  I have searched on 4 occasions to find and answer and nothing.  Finally trying out the forum to see what others may reccomend.

You confused me with your first three words:
    "I have iCal ..."
I'm confused because we are in the Mountain Lion forum, and you say you are running Mountain Lion.  iCal is not supported on Mountain Lion.  It has been replaced by a new Calendar app.

  • Turning off iCal subscribed calendars on iPhone

I have a number of calendars that I subscribe to in iCal on my computer. These are calendars I choose to leave turned off in iCal - and simply turn them on if I need to know the details - for example appointments being made by staff etc.
I note since Snow Leopard and/or 3.1 on my iPhone that these calendars are being pushed to my iPhone. I am having difficulty working out how to turn them off on the iPhone. It makes it near impossible to view my own calendars easily.
Is there a way of choosing which calendars you want 'pushed' to your iPhone? Or can you turn certain calendars on or off? I know I can select one calendar at a time on the phone - but that's not sufficient.
    Thanks.

    I have a similar problem.
One of my calendars that's subscribed to on iCal continually wants a user name and password. I type then in correctly, but it doesn't work ultimately. So i just want it off. I cannot, however, figure out how to.

  • If you were having trouble playing mp3s after the IOS5 update - TURN OFF ZONE ALARM!

    UGH!!!
I finally found this suggestion after plowing through MANY pages and threads on here and all over the web. Someone suggested that ZoneAlarm and iTunes "clash" so I turned off my ZoneAlarm and now can FINALLY transfer mp3s to my phone without having them playback improperly. Before songs would start like 20 seconds in, then jump back to the beginning, then the middle again, despite the files being perfectly fine on my computer and also in the "music" section of iTunes (but would be faulty once transferred to my device).
This is a HUGE relief. I've been without music for over a week and it was complete ****. I had to use the Pandora app to get SOME kind of songs but compared to being able to listen to my own library, it was pretty much ****.... Just wanted to pass along this idea to anyone else who is struggling.

This is very helpful! How do I create .m4v or .mp4 vidoes that "Fast start"? Just changing the extension doesn't work -- and exporting takes time. I'd love another fast solution like this for opening and "Save As" -- that results in the MPEG-4 extensions that my users are expecting. (Yes, QT is a container format, and yes this .mov has the same media H.264 media streams, but we'd like folks to be able to drag these into itunes or similar and get them quickly on iPods.)
    Thanks!

  • Turning off iCal temporarily

I love iCal but sometimes when I am teaching, it throws reminders on the screen which I like to keep private.  Can it be temporarily set to off?  Is there an automated process?  I mean, I tell it to be off for 2 hours and then it comes back to life.
    Thank you,
    Nima Zahadat

    Hi Nima,
You should be able to temporarily turn of the display of iCal notifications from the Notifications item in System Preferences by selecting "None" under Alert Style.

  • How to turn off iCal email notifications

I just synced my google calender with my iCal through iCloud and now I keep getting notifications about events. The events are from another family members comuter and now they are emailed from their computer to mine. I don't know how to turn this off and it is really annoying. I am also getting pop up alerts on my iPod touch 2nd generation and I can't figure out how to turn those off either. Help Please!!!!

Thank you.  It was the banners that were bothersome.   I had looked in preferences and it wasn't making sense to me since I didn't know what banners and alerts meant.  And I still don't know what badge app icons or lock screens are.
