Turning Off Join WiFi Network

Is there anyway to turn off the join wifi network alerts, that come everytime I want to go on the internet, or I start up my iPhone and to Safari? I never can join any of them, anyway. It's annoying to always get this window, and it's intrusive when you are trying to do something else. Thanks for any help.

Welcome to the Palm forums! The Palm Pre should connect to an Airport access point; however, there are some things you need to check.
First, what version of the Airport do you have? Is it the Apple Airport Extreme? If so, check the settings on the Airport. This access point supports 802.11n which is a mode that the Pre is not compatible with. You need to enable 802.11g for your Pre to connect to it.
Also, I think you mean 802.11x (802.1x is a security system that is commonly used in Enterprise wireless networks and very rarely used in home configurations). The most common versions of home Wi-Fi networks are 802.11b, 802.11g, and 802.11n. Of those, only 802.11b and 802.11g are supported by the Pre.

My wifi wasn't working for more than 10 minutes at a time after updating to IOS8 and resetting network settings. I turned off google drive, turned off Bluetooth, reset network settings and rebooted my iPad4. So far so good.

I have an ipad4. Wifi keeps cutting out after the upgrade even after I forget the network and resign on or reset all network settings. I deleted iCloud drive from my iPad, turned off Bluetooth, reset network settings, and rebooted my iPad. Since I upgraded to IOS8 this is the longest wifi has consistently been working for me. Which is approximately an hour now. Anyone else find that this worked or have figured out if this or anything out there is a permanent fix?

Kids are using the WiFi all night long and not sleeping... How can I temporarily turn off the WiFi at night using the Airport Extream or Airport Utility? I must keep the guest network up as I have a tenant in an apartment over my garage using that.

My kids are up all night streaming Netflix and using the WiFi on their iPads and Apple TV. The next day they don't want to get up and go to school. Is there a way I can set up a separate access point for just the kids in AirPort Extreme and then turn that one off when i go to bed? Or somehow turn off the main network when I go to bed, without having to reconfigure the entire router the next day, and then simply turn it back on the next morning? I have to keep the Guest Network up as I have a paying tenant living in an apartment over my garage that uses that network.
In the event it's not possible with the AirPort Extreme, any other suggestions would be appreciated.

You can configure the AirPort Extreme for Timed Access using the AirPort Utility. Basically what you are doing is restricting the time of a wireless device by its MAC address has access to the base station's wireless network.
To access this feature: AirPort Utility > Select the Extreme > Edit > Network tab > Enable Access Control: Timed Access Control...

New modem, now my iPhone 4 can't join wifi network

Can anyone help? My Verizon modem died, and I received the new modem today from Verizon. I plugged it in, and was able to get my laptop to connect to wifi with no problem, but my iPhone 4 will not connect. I select the network, enter the password, and it says "Unable to join the network." I've tried turning the phone off and back on, and turned off the modem, unplugged it (power cord and phone line), plugged it back in and turned it back on, and still no luck. Any ideas?

Let's get that device connected to your Wifi signal! You have already done what I would have suggested first, which is reset the router. You've also already powered the device off and on. Does the iOS device connect to other networks? If yes that tend to indicate a problem with your network.
Does the iOS device see the network?
Any error messages?
Do other devices now connect?
Did the iOS device connect before?
Try the following to rule out a software problem:
- Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
- Power off and then back on your router
.- Reset network settings: Settings>General>Reset>Reset Network Settings
- iOS: Troubleshooting Wi-Fi networks and connections
- Wi-Fi: Unable to connect to an 802.11n Wi-Fi network
- iOS: Recommended settings for Wi-Fi routers and access points
- Restore from backup. See:

- Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.
If still problem and it does not connect to any networks make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store since it appears you have a hardware problem.

Could not join "wifi network name". A connection timeout occurred.

Mac Pro running 10.7.5.
Whenever the computes wakes from sleep or logs in, it no longer automatically connects to my wifi network. When I manually select the network for from the Wi-Fi status in the menu bar, I get the following message: Could not join "wifi network name". A connection timeout occurred.
Even though I get that message the machine joins the network with no other problems. I am led to believe that is is on the Mac Pro as my Macbook and iPad/iPhone join the network with no issues.
I have tried deleting and restoring the preferred network, and remember networks is checked. I have also restored my airport express base station.
Any suggestions?

System Preferences>Network, top of window>Locations>Edit Locations, little plus icon, give it a name.

System Preferences>Network, click on the little gear at the bottom next to the + & - icons, (unlock lock first if locked), choose Set Service Order.
The interface that connects to the Internet should be dragged to the top of the list.
If using Wifi/Airport...
Instead of joining your Network from the list, click the WiFi icon at the top, and click join other network. Fill in everything as needed.

I wouldn't do that either. Just let it complete.
Pausing then disconnection you I net connection may drop the download again and then you may have to start over.

Had a similar problem a number of years ago with a laptop my daughter had. The probelm turned out to be the router. What kind of router do you have? Have you checked for firmware updates, or at least tried re-booting it?

Turning off Skype Wifi

I am using a MAC and the MAC version of Skype. How do I completelu disable and turn off Skype Wifi?I don't EVER want to use Skype Wifi. If I can't get a connection without Skype Wifi, then I don't want a connection. How do I tell Skype to NEVER inform me of Skype Wifi and NEVER even attempt to make a Skype Wifi connection on my behalf. If I cannot remove the Skpe Wifi option then I will just uninstall and abandon Skype. I've seen several posts on different threads from Mac users about this - usually sounding irritated because they have evidently inadvertantly connected to Skype WiFi when they didn't want to and lost credit. The responses from forum moderators seem often to border on rudeness and the information that, on a Mac, you simply can't turn off Skype WiFi is slow to emerge, only after scolding for being on the wrong forum etc. So far I've found no explanation as to why this option is not provided to Mac users. (Skype belongs to Microsoft doesn't it?). I can vouch that this is a real problem. I have recently been connected inadvertantly to Skype Wifi in a hotel and charged a significant chunk of credit when I thought I was connecting to the free hotel wifi. In addition the unwanted Skype wifi pop-up repeatedly stops you from connecting to the wifi you want to by knocking you off the necessary login page. I therefore believe that this is not being fixed as a deliberate policy to deceive Mac users out of Skype credit and I request a full explanation as to why this is not so if indeed that is the case.
