Turning off Midi Channel on an audio track-possible?

I do not want to receive any midi data (it is causing the track to mute) from my Moog Little Phatty on the corresponding audio track I am recording to in Logic. I do not want to filter this midi message out as I'd still like to be able to record that information on the corresponding midi track.
I know if I deselect the audio track it will no longer respond to midi messages being sent from the Moog. What I'd really like however is to stop Logic from muting a selected track whenever cc# 9 is transmitted.
Is this possible?

And, just curious... if you're recording the MIDI info anyhow, why not just record the MIDI track, and then export it to an audio file?
I like to capture the live performance of my external synths on an audio track. I record the midi information more as a back up/reference in case I want to tweak it later.
And I totally understand that. I guess I suggested it, as work around in the meantime.
Recording the MIDI, and then bouncing as audio, won't undermine the integrity of that approach, as long as you refrain from over-twaeking, BEFORE bouncing down the file!

  • Turn off diagonal lines on locked audio track?

    Hello,
Not sure if I missed the option somewhere, but it's a bit difficult to read the waveform when I lock the audio track.  Is there a setting that removes that overlay?
    Thanks,

Something that might help is to expand the vertical zoom of that Audio Track. In the Track Header, hover the cursor around the junction between Tracks, until it turns into a double-line with vertical arrows - Click-drag. That will give you a "taller" Waveform, from which to work.
    Good luck,

OK, a little groundwork first. The one thing MIDI isn't is anything to do with sound! Sounds like a bold statement but I want to make that clear just in case.
MIDI controls things like external synths and VST plug-ins which are what make the sounds.
So, in order to convert MIDI to audio you need something to play the MIDI file. Logic of course has plenty of great built-in synths which you can use if you don't have external hardware.
Simply associate a Logic synth with each MIDI channel and then conduct a 'Bounce'. The resulting file is a recording of the synth sounds your MIDI file was controlling.
I apologise if that lot sounds a bit patronising but I have no idea what level you are at. Either way I hope it helps.

  • How do I turn off automatic streaming of MP3 audio?

I like to download podcasts directly to my desktop so I can later transfer them to my Sansa media player. Now that I've installed Quicktime podcasts stream and play automatically in my Firefox browser window. What settings do I change to turn off automatic streaming of MP3 audio?

Well, in fact I have the same problem. And by the way, I dislike marketing tricks as proposing that you buy the pro-version of quicktime if you ever want to download mp3-files again (as a right click on the quicktime browser-player does).
I already switched off every file link and stream-related ghismo that points towards quicktime as player, in the quickime control in control panel as wel on any other place I could find.
But the only thing I acchieved is, that IE now starts downloading as soon as I go to a link to an MP3 file and after some time it says "ready".
An firefox stubbornly keeps opening the quicktime player.
I tend to disagree with IE as I can't find any file on my system, with regardless what searching technique.
Is there a way to get things back to normal without uninstalling Quicktime and reinstalling my browsers (wich is useless as Itunes will prompt me to reinstall quicktime)???

  • If you forward your calls to another phone and turn off yours, can the phone be tracked?

I have an iphone 5 and I want it not to be tracked but still get my calls. If I cal forward my calls to another iphone and turn off the one I dont want tracked, will it render it untrackable?

If you are seeing your device on iCloud's Find my IPhone section (even if it says offline), then it is tied to your iCloud Account, meaning you had that "Find My iPad" turned on in the iPad's Settings > iCloud.
If someone has it, they probably turned it off to prevent you from tracking it, but yes, you can use lost mode to lock up the iPad and put a message and phone number to call if found.  If or when the device is turned back on, this message will be displayed on the iPad. iCloud: Use Lost Mode
Choosing the play sound option will put it in the system to play the sound when it is turned on again.

  • If I turned off picture backup on iPhone, is it possible to restore the pictures saved before the settings change?

    Hi,
Anyone know if iCloud keeps older backups?
If I turned off picture backup on iPhone, is it possible to restore the pictures saved before the settings change?
    Thanks.

No. but restoring from backup will if hey are in a backup
    To restore from backup see:
    iOS: How to back up
If you restore from iCloud backup the apps will be automatically downloaded. If you restore from iTunes backup the apps and music have to be in the iTunes library since synced media like apps and music are not included in the backup of the iOS device that iTunes makes.
You can redownload most iTunes purchases by:
Downloading past purchases from the App Store, iBookstore, and iTunes Store

  • Turning off right channel in a quicktime movie

    Greetings,
I am scoring a film and I have been given new reels where the dialogue and source music is in the left channel, and the temp score is in the right channel. Is there any way to turn off the right channel in Logic when I am scoring the reel? I want to still be able to reference the temp track, but I would like it off while working. Thank you.
    Best,
    Adam

Yet another way is to route the interleaved stereo file you got by dragging the video into Logic from a stereo audio track to a mono bus. If you now pan the stereo track L you'll get dialogue only, centered, if you pan it R you'll get temp track only, centered.
If you make a copy of the audio track and pan the first one L, the second one R, you can mute or solo dialogue and temp music independently. Advantage is you don't have to bounce a separate split stereo file, so you'll have only one dialogue/temp music audio file in your drive.
    Good luck with the score!

  • How to turn off midi patch thru

It might be called something else, but I'm looking for a way to turn it off so that notes don't get doubled when I record a part from my keyboard (as I hear the keyboard's tone and Logic playing it). I see the manual says to turn off the local out on your keyboard, but that gives me a latency issue hearing Logic generate the tone thru midi... which throws my performance off. I want to simply listen to the keyboard and not the patch thru from Logic.
I see that I can set the port to None in the inspector, but that's not usable for many reasons.
    thanks

Those are 16 GM Midi channels you're seeing.
    How are your Environment chops?
    What is your Master Keyboard?
Basically, if your keyboard is a multichannel device you will need to create a New (environment) Multi Instrument, rename to that of your keyboard and click on the "1" to remove the slash. Since you're probably only transmitting on channel one and letting Logic re-channelize. Or just use the Default GM Device. It's actually a very flexible MIDI Thru. Anyway, your instrument will now show up with a 1 next to the name. But it will basically work the same.
Look it up in the manual and/or help.

  • Millions of midi channels, only 4 audio channels

so when i'm in logic i can hold down on a channel, go to audio/ audio instrument and then select hundreds of different insert channels. great for midi
however there are only 4 audio channels to choose from! how can this be?
    thanks

    dear pp,
sorry...i couldn't resist. what's your interface and how many inputs does it have? if it's 4, then no more than 4 can be accessed at any given moment. if it has more than 4 then you haven't either set up enough audio tracks or assigned enough inputs (inputs 5+ per individual trks.) to the rest.

  • "MIDI thru" box for audio tracks... what is it for?

    Hi Guys
Sorry for this possibly quite obvious question... when I create audio tracks that have nothing to do with MIDI, why is it that the inspector column on the left still has a section for "MIDI thru"? Is this for use with control surfaces that use MIDI channels to control paramaters on an audio track, or... for something else?
And is there a way to get rid of these all together, so that each audio channel isn't paired to a MIDI channel?
Apologies if this is a silly question!
    Cheers,
    Mike

If you don't know the answer then it's not a silly question.
You're simply seeing a connection where none exists. The Region parameter box will display the parameters of any selected Region(s). When no region is selected the region parameter box displays the "MIDI Thru" parameters.
Now, if you create some more tracks (Midi, Audio or whatever) and haven't selected any region then the Region Parameter box will still show the (same) Midi Thru parameters. It has nothing to do with selected Tracks only selected Regions.
The Track Parameter box displays the parameters for the selected Track.
The region parameter box displays the parameters for the selected Region.

  • Is it possible to turn off a channel in DAQ?

I am using 4*PXI-6070E to acquire 64 channels simultanously. Is it possible to turn off one or several channels during acquisition? Which function or property node should I use? I have tried using property node "disable" in waveform graph but it seems didn't work. That channel is still running and the data is still here. Can anyone help me plz? THX a lot!

Once a set of channels are configured in a task and being acquired, you cannot reconfigure the task (add/remove channels) without stopping the running task
What you could do is to: Use array functions ( like index array) to create a subset of channels you require, from the set of channels being acquired

  • New iPod Nano Turns off in the middle of any track playing - Apple Bummer

So, I just received my iPod Nano as a replacement to an early generation of iPod Nano's that are subject to recall.  The new Nano has been updated as of 21 Jan 2012.  Songs loaded into iTunes under MAC OS X Lion, iPod Nano synched with my computer, and I'm ready to go.
What - not so fast!  Guess what?  The Nano turns itself off in the middle of any track you play.  I turned the shake and shuffle mode off to make sure that is not it.  And it is fully charged.  I even went through the reset procedures.
So its less than 24 hours new/old so I go for Apple support.  My original iTunes etc accounts are associated with my house in America.  But I live in the UK right now.  So drill through Apple support and guess what?  Well, I live in London so no support is available.  And the Apple web site as usual does not provide much help in making calls.
Apple's web site says there is no coverage on this as it is out of warranty?  24 hours new?  No warranty.  It says it comes with a one year warranty. And Apple UPS'd it to me yesterday.
So question 1 is:  Does anybody know what the problem is and how to fix it?  I hope it isn't operator head space but who knows, maybe it is.
And question 2:  Does anybody have a good 800 number for me to call in the USA?
    Many thanks.

I have the same problem and wondered if it was loosey goosey headphones which were just cheap 10 dollars buds.  So are you saying I should get new ear phones that fit tighter?
That would be my guess....Here is what Apple has to say about the problem.
       http://support.apple.com/kb/ts3700
My guess is that it is a compatibility problem with older or aftermarket ear buds.  My daughter has a 6th generation Nano and does not have this problem but keep in mind she is using the ear buds that came with the 6th Generation Nano.  With the replacement program they are not sending new ear buds.  I just did a test with my daughters 6th Generation Nano using an old set of aftermarket ear buds I had in my desk and I was able to duplicate your issue.  I then used the ear buds from my Iphone 4s and did not have an issue with the Nano going to sleep and the music turning off.

  • Logic pro 10 - recording a midi instrument as an audio track

In my Logic 10 song I have a midi instrument that I want to record as an audio track. I can find no way to get the signal from the output of the "harmonica" track to the input of the audio track, apart from recording it using the external speakers. It must be simple to do, but Apple help is no help. Can somebody please help?

    Use "Bounce Track in Place".

  • Quicktime Audio - discrete channels vs. assigned audio tracks

    Hello everyone,
I just recently started using Quicktime 7 Pro's audio options.
Now there is an issue I need help understanding:
A partner sent me a mov file with 8 discrete audio channels (l,r,c,lfe,ls,rs,lt,rt). When I play the mov, I only hear ambience/background audio. I hear no dialog. When I assign each channel using cmd+j -> audio settings I can hear every audio track correctly (atleast I think so, is there a way/software to check whether every single track has output?).
I tested playback with VLC and it plays the audio fine, without any adjustments (also only tested by hearing).
I start distributing digital movies to cinema operators. Is there an audio standard for digital cinema ProRes movs? Are cinema operators okay with 8-ch discrete audio mov files? Do their players ignore or use the lt/rt? I guess it depends on the cinema operator but maybe there's a standard. I'm keen to learn.
    Thank you in advance, cheers
    Loki

What are you doing with these clips after you digitise, and before you export them? Make sure that if you edit your clips into a Sequence, you are not re-establishing them as a stereo pair (in the Timeline, if the clips display with a little 'bowtie' icon, they are enabled as a stero pair). Also, don't forget to check how you're monitoring your audio.
The process you've just done should absolutely create what you need.
