  • Turn off Mirroring sends Keynote to the Video Display

This has never happened before . . . I turn on mirroring for my presentation. The last part of the presentation, I turn off mirroring. When I do, the keynote screen is thrown over to the video display as opposed to the computer display. Why is this now happening? Is it a preference that needs to be changed?

I've been trying to resolve this issue for the past few weeks with no luck. Using Leopard, with the latest version of Keynote, is anyone able to start a presentation with mirroring off (the laptop displaying current slide and the next slide), stop the presentation, switch to mirroring on, start presentation, advance a few slides, stop the presentation, switch to mirroring off . . . and then see the Keynote window on one's laptop and not thrown off the laptop screen over to the secondary video screen?

  • Question about keyboard, how can I turn off shortcuts?

Hello all, I've had my laptop for a few weeks now and I have adjusted to the smaller keyboard but there must be shortcut keys built in cause my curser ends up all over the place when I'm typing (I must be bumping a key somewhere with my hand). I'm forever putting the curser back at the 'end' so I can continue with what I am typing. this happens ALL THE TIME! I am a fast typer so having to stop frequently and edit is driving me up the wall.
Is there a way I can turn the shortcuts off? I hvent found any information anywhere. It's not the hotkey function.
Or do I maybe have a faulty keyboard?? Is there some setting I can adjust so sthe keyboard isnt so sensitive to touch? My fingernails are longish so may be inadvertantly tapping another key.
    cheers,
    JO

Maybe you're touching the touch pad by accident while typing, resulting in your cursor moving all over the place. You could adjust touch pad sensitivity or even turn it of and use external mouse.

  • How to turn off versions in Keynote??

I use Keynote all the time in my work, and my files can be quite large--sometimes exceeding 1 gig in size.  To make a long story short, yesterday at the Apple Store, we discovered, after two Apple guys were tenacious enough to hang in there with me, that I had over 200 gigs of storage space being taken up by old versions of Keynotes!  The Apple guys helped me wipe out those files and free up that space on my hard drive.  So . . . how can I disengage the Versions feature on my new MBPro Retina?  Each time I make the slightest change in a KN, it is completely saving a version with all the videos and other graphics that make up the keynote.

Sorry that didn't work, it was given to me by a Mac technician, anyway to revers it:
To reverse the progress simply change the word no (which appears at the end of both scripts) to yes.
defaults write com.apple.iWork.Keynote ApplePersistence -bool yes
Other that that terminal script I know of no other way...
    Sorry again!

  • I need help doing a clean install.( keyboard shortcuts?).Macbook will not read any of the disks/ turns off

I installed a new 'used' Logic board, im my macbook 13.3 and it turned right on!..( i was out of warrenty)
Apple logo and spiing wheel, then turns off..
After reading several forums, I went into self mode, did the 2 checks within in and got an error which pointed to the OS software being currupted..
so I have  inserted the Os disk, the disk-repair disk and a disk warrior disk, but none of them are being read. I hear the Macbook starting to read the disk then the disks are ejected and the systen turns off.
Is there a way i can do a clean install on the HD? shortcut keyboard shortcuts?
or force the disks to be read as the first boot device like of that  in a PC's bios settup?
I have no data on the computer that I wish to save btw.. just want a fresh install..
thanks for any help in advance.

Unfortunately the necessary software to reinstall your OS is not located on the hard drive. If your MacBook will not accept the disks you have you are going to need a hardware repair, probably the optical drive.
If you have access to another MacBook you may be able to install the OS on an external hard drive and use that to boot your MacBook. You may then be able to get any data off of your hard drive.
    Best of luck.

  • Turning off an external monitor shortcut key

is there a shortcut key-combo that will turn off the output to a video display so I can open different powerpoint shows without the audience seeing me doing so?
    iBook 14" G4   Mac OS X (10.4.5)

It was for a 120 plate fundraising dinner and the projectors are big and can't be controlled by remote due to their location in the projection booth...bad design, but nothing I could do about it. I ended up clearing my desktop of all but the icons for the PPTs and using a relevant picture for my wallpaper. Thanks for your answers though.

  • Can i turn off spacebar shortcut in Finder ?

Can i turn off the spacebar shortcut in the Finder. It is causing me difficulty while using keyboard shortcuts in CS5. If by mistake I tap the desktop to make Finder active, while still viewing an inacvtive window, the Finder automatically selects a folder on my desktop. The next time I hit the spacebar while mistakenly in the Finder, it springs the selected folder to the front. It's totally annoying. I talked to Apple Care and they have no solution.

Okay - just wanted to be sure!
You can test your preferences theory fairly easily.
Create a new user account. Log out of the current one and into the new one.
Make sure the folders/pictures spring forward when the space bar is depressed.
Go into the Finder Preferences and uncheck that box. Test to see if the folders still spring forward. You should not need to restart the computer.
If they do not, I can get you instructions for deleting/moving some preference files that might need to be trashed to fix this.

  • How do I turn off Keynote

I never purchased Iwork although it is still on my hard drive. I use Office 2000. However. when someone mails me a slide show, almost invariably a Powerpoint file, Keynote comes on. The display is great, but I can't get the sound. I can't figure any way to turn off keynote and let the file play on powerpoint.

While in the Finder, select the slide show file and enter Command-I (Get Info).
In the information window, about 3/4 of the way down, in the "Open with" pulldown menu, you can select which application for launching the file. If you don't want Keynote, then select Powerpoint (or whatever application you wish to use).
Then, to open ALL such documents with Powerpoint, just click the Change All button.
    Good Luck.

  • KEYNOTE - Export to quicktime with slides turned off

I have just done a full set of speaker walkup slide intros and then tried to output to quicktime with certain slides turned off and the ones I wanted to export turned on. Each time I would export the QT movie (for individual speakers turned on and the other turned off) and Keynote would record the first three slides rather than the three further in the deck that I have turned on. Has anybody had the same problem? Maddening!!!

Apple promised a 6 month update scheme, that takes us to May 2014 to sort this out, in the meantime I'm using Keynote 09 for all the stuff, 6 cant do.

  • How to turn off auto-complete in Keynote (tables) ?

Has anybody found a way to turn off (disable) auto-complete for cells in a table in Keynote ?
Occasionally I would prefer to work without the blinky yittery typing experience it creates.
It's not a live or death thing, but having an option to turn auto-complete off would make working with Keynote more pleasant.

    Stefan,
For reasons unknown to me and beyond my ability to guess, KN lacks control of that feature. You could build your table in either Pages or Numbers, where autocompletion can but disabled in the General Preference Pane, and paste it into KN.

  • How do I turn off text auto-formatting in Keynote?

How do I turn off text auto-formatting in Keynote?

You may uncheck some preferences in the Pages > Preferences menu item.
You may also define your own custom default template.
But you certainly are aware of that because it's described in the PDF User Guide delivered with every copy of iWork.

how can i turn off the media player shortcuts on the f keys on the envy 17?

If you press the Home button and open Security, you can change "Auto Lock Device" to "Never". Does that do what you want?
Edit: I see you found the solution the Software board in this thread: http://forums.palm.com/palm/board/message?board.id=software&thread.id=13064

  • How can I turn off a specific keyboard shortcut?

We use a 3rd party vendor's platform to create/maintain content on our school website. When writing stories, I often use standard editing shortcuts (such as command-B for bold, command-I for italic, etc.). But when I hit command-B in the new FF 4.0 release, the bookmarks window opens - so I now need to use the pulldown menu to make this standard command. And it just slows me down.
Any idea how I can turn off this feature?

    Hi, thanks for the reply.
    No.
Please read my post, i'm asking how to turn off the specific shortcut in my original post, not assign actions to the mouse buttons (i know how to do that). I'm aware i can simply turn off the scroll wheel function altogether from the mouse preferences but i don't want to lose that function.
I want to know how to turn off the SHIFT + SCROLL WHEEL CLICK shortcut that switches the screen to the widget screen.

  • Turn off annoying shortcuts

I have a Torch 9800, running BB 6 budle 292___ on Rogers Wireless
Is there a way to turn off some of the shortcuts that drive me crazy??
Some shortcuts like the alt-del in BBM to irreversably clear the entire message input field are annoying, but I can live with them. They come in handy very occasionally, but usually just result in me accidentally loosing a massive message I've just typed.
But other ones like when I'm using sms messages, trying to scroll backwards through the characters of messages previously sent immediately exits the message back to the main message menu... It's the most frustrating thing, because I want to get to a specific part of  the message, for example if I want to copy it, I have to touch the exact correct place on the screen, instead of being able to get there with the track pad...

In the shortcut system preferences try clicking the + (bottom left), browse to select your application, type in the menu item you want, then make the shortcut Command-H. In typing the menu, if it is a submenu, just type the submenu. (So for File/Save As... put in Save As...).
