Turning off the camera shutter sound

How do you turn off the shutter sound of the camera? Even in vibrate only sound profile the camera still makes the noise when taking pictures.

There is no option in the phone to turn off camera sound, you will need a 3rd party app to have that option. You can try peek-a-boo, its a free app.

I keep getting a camera shutter type sound when on pages like Google, or hotmail, or any "active" page, loading pictures on websites for instance. Sometimes when things are happening rapidly it becomes a distorted cascade of the sound, like a loud chirp or worse. You can turn the sound down using the usual device sound but then, of course you can't listen to any music or anything else for that matter. It's extremely annoying and now that I synchronised my laptop with my desktop they both have the same problem. I've checked all the settings and can't find a way of disabling it. I don't exactly know what is triggering it but it seems to be when something is loading.
I'm running firefox 18.0.2 on a Mac running Snow Leopard 10.6.8. Anything else I can tell you?

Since iPhone 6, I can't get the camera shutter sound off by switching the silent button off.
There are no setting options available either?
I bought my phone in Japan. May be it is a local requirement.

According to the following turning off the sound isn't possible in Japan. The ringer silent switch on the side does mute it on my iPhone 5s in the U.S.

Only by hiding the camera via Restrictions. Settings>General>Restrictions. That hides the camera when unlocked unless you go to Restrictions and unset that Restriction. That is not way currently from just preventing camera access only from the lock screen

Finally get to use this machine the way it was intended now that Windows 8 is out, but the touch interface sound is bothersome. Seems as though it should be the easiest thing in the world to turn off.. but I cannot for the life of me figure it out. Ive searched the web high and low..even seen others ask this same question with no response whatsoever.

The law only concerns phone cameras and does not include digital cameras which are obviously cameras. If you have a digital camera pointed at you, it is pretty obvious what is about to happen. Anyway, it is now law in a few countries with many others following suit. With mobile phones being so mobile, you could easily find yourself running foul of the local laws when travelling abroad.

I personally have no problems with disabling the camera shutter noise. Just explaining to the OP why Nokia isn't giving him the option to turn it off on his phone.

How do I turn off the camera lights when recording a video with the Android Turbo?

I want to use the Andriod Turbo camera video function in ambient lighting using the forward lens. But when I start recording both lights stay on. I can video with ambient using the look back lens. Not as good a quality and harder to aim.
Is there a setting that can turn off the lights until I want them? How is it done?

It wasn't obvious, but your reply got me searching again. I found that if you drag your finger from the left side of the screen to the center the semi-circular menu appears on the left. There I found the light control and other options.
I didn't know it existed and the manufacturer's manual that came with the phone gave no instructions on the camera operation.

Silence the camera shutter sound in an E72

Hi.
I'm using a software called YBrowser to snoop around my Nokia E72 file system.
I found out that the sound files for the camera shutter, auto-focus, etc. are located in the following path:
z:/system/sounds/digital/relevant-sound-file-name.wav
So I proceed to create a silence wav file (of about 10 kb).
My ideia, simple enough, would be to replace the shutter sound file with this silence file and give it the same name, so as not to cause conflicts of any kind.
Although the YBrowswer allows me to snoop around the whole system files, it doesn't allow me paste new files, or even delete the 'CamcorderJavaCapture.wav' (which is the file I'd like to replce).
Any idea on how I could access the Z:/ volume of my phone and do this?
If not through the phone, maybe through a Terminal window and the E72 connected to my Mac via USB?

But I can access that screen through YBrowser, no question about that. I can snoop inside the folders and files. I just can't paste anything over, or change names, or delete files. I'll probably need some other kind of file browser to do it.
Anyway, as you say it, if it's a protected part of the phone, that explains why it's difficult to get there without the right tools.
I'm not really a hacker or anything, so I don't mind not getting into that in depth.

The sound cannot be turned off, it was made that way on purpose (a safety/security feature).
It's to stop people from taking photo's without the subjects knowledge.
