Turning off tunes in iTunes 11 you no longer wish to listent to it.

The new iTunes 11 is great, but how do you turn off a tune if you no longer wish to listen to it. The only way I found to do so is to go to controls and then  click stop. I'm sure there is another way of stopping but I haven't found it. I'd be grateful if someone could enlighten me. Also, I upgraded to 11 some time ago, but the interface didn't change much—I just assumed that was it, even though a video I watched showed a completely different interface. I checked 'about iTunes' to make sure that I did indeed have the lastest version, which I did.  Just recently, when I launched iTunes it opened with the new interface. I've no idea why it took so long to change to the this version. Does anyone in the 'community' have any ideas as to why!
Thanks in anticipation of your help, and a Happy New Year to all.

I had the same problem. I was first getting an error on my PC about the library being created with a newer version of iTunes. I upgraded my PC to 8.1 and am now receiving the following error when trying to open up the shared library:
"The iTunes application could not be opened. An unknown error occurred (13005)."

  • How can I turn off genius in iTunes 10.5.3 (3)

How can I turn off Genius in iTunes 10.5.3  under Lion 10.7.3 (other than disconnecting from the internet). It is no longer an option in the Store menu and although I can hide that playlist on the left through parental controls, the atom symbol is still present in the lower right of the window available to generate a list from a selected song. Thank you.

I have the option to turn it off. What version of iTunes are you using? I have the latest iTunes. Have you tried signing out of the store?

  • Turn off accelerometer in itunes?

I run 4-6 miles daily with my iphone. When the phone bounces around sometimes I get the landscape display for my song list and have to flip through album covers. I would like I tunes to stay vertical, so I can use the arrows to go back and forth instead of having to flip through album covers. It is slow and annoying. Can I disable just this feature?

    turn off accelerometer in itunes?.
There is no accelerometer in iTunes.
You can set the iPhone to call up the iPod controller by double tapping teh Home button.
    Settings -> General -> Home.
    Tick iPod.
Set the *iPod controls* to On.
Now double tap the home button to call up the iPod controls (even when the iPhone is locked) with Volume, Play/Pause, FF/Next, RW/Previous, current song name.
This will work with whatever is going on with the iPhone.

  • How do I turn off Sync without iTunes deleting all the songs on my iPod!

Well that's basically my question. I want to keep all the songs that are already there, but from this point on just add new ones manually. When I unchecked the Sync box it wiped out my iPod. Thanks in advance for any help.
    Powerbook G4   Mac OS X (10.4.8)

You need to turn off automatic sync before you delete all your tracks from iTunes. If you don't, then you need to prevent the iPod from synching when you connect:
While connecting the iPod to the computer, hold down the Command and Option keys on a Mac. This should stop the iPod from auto synching with iTunes and the iPod will appear in the source list. Wait until you are sure the iPod has mounted, and that it will not auto sync and then you can let the keys go. This may take between 3 and 25 seconds depending on your computer. Then you can set iTunes to manual synchronization.
Of course, this won't help if your iPod has already had the tracks removed. But you'll know what to do next time.
    Regards.

I 5c fell in toilet and won't turn off. have it in rice, how long will it take?

How long will what take? You should leave the phone in rice for at least 4-5 days. At that point, plug the phone in and let it charge for about 15 minutes and see if it turns on. Accept the fact your phone will probably never work properly again.

  • Is there a way to turn off text messaging while you listen to songs/videos?

I was wondering if anyone knew if there was a way to temporarily turn off text messaging while you are listening to a song or video? I find it very annoying that if I let someone listen to the videos on my phone - that while they are doing that and a text comes in - it shows up right on the phone for them to read it. This did not play out too well when my girlfriend was listening to it yesterday.(keep all smart comments to a minimum please, lol). Can you turn off texting while you listen and then turn it back on when you finish? Please say yes... Thanks

Nathan, thanks for that info....I appreciate that. That makes a lot of sense (what you said about airplane mode) and seems to be a good feature. I had been told a couple of times by airline personnel to please turn off my phone.
This seems to be the answer I was looking for. I just hope that it will still play in my car. I was finally able to find a Belkin Cable to connect it to to hear music. I have an auxillary port for it. That is where & when the trouble lies. When I am listening to the ipod portion - watching a video - and hearing the music come from my speakers in the car. All of a sudden, a text comes through and you can read it & it asks where you want to 'view' or 'ignore'. I'm gonna test it...

  • Can't turn off iCloud in iTunes on MacBook running 10.6.8

I can't turn off my wifes iCloud in iTunes on her MacBook that is running 10.6.8. I have read that that way to tun this off is to go to the iCloud icon but this isn't available on 10.6.8. So how do I fix this issue? She can only get access to 50 songs and not her whole library.

Your question makes no sense, given the issue you describe.
But iTunes cloud function is under the iTunes menu >> preferences >> store.
If you mean iTunes match, that's under the store menu.

  • How do I turn off artwork in iTunes Mini player 11.0.4?

I have been very vocal in mourning the loss of Cover Flow but now I've given iTunes 11 a second chance on my MacBook Pro.
The most irritating thing is the Mini Player is no longer 'mini'. How can I turn off artwork display when in mini mode? The whole point of this is to enable iTunes control whilst working, but having a big square displaying album artwork is just counter-productive.
I just want the option of a minimalist player when working.
    Thanks,
    Rich

    Ah right, thank you!
I had the box with the artwork as small as possible and couldn't see the other artwork bottom left!

  • Is there an easy way to turn off Genius in itunes 10.6.1?

I have Genius playlists on my ipad2 that I do not want. I would like to get rid of all Genius suggestions and have viewed many suggestions; one being to go to the store tab and click turn off genius. This option is not available it only gives the option 'Update Genius'. I recently joined itunes Match and this seems to automatically think that you want to have Genius. Can someone help me in gettng rid of Genius. Thanks in advance.

In reply to Peter2300's problem of not being able to delete Genius Playlists on the ipdad.  I had this same problem on my ipad2 and my son's ipad mini.  In both our cases we had a number of extra Genius Playlists and most of these had no songs in them.  We couldn't delete them the normal way by just holding down on them until the little X appeared.  We both solved it the same way. On my iPad when I "tap" on the Genius playlist I want to delete, it switches to the screen showing the individual songs in the Genius list (even if it's just a blank playlist), and there is a "save" button near the upper right of the screen. I pressed the Save button and then hit the button on the upper left to return to the list of Playlists.  After doing this, the last Genius Playlist displayed could then be deleted the normal way by pressing on it and waiting for the X.  I had to repeat this process for each extra Genius playlist I wanted to get rid of (which was all of them b/c on mine they were all blanks).  I just repeated the process of viewing each playlist, saving it, going back to the list of Playlists and then deleting the one that appeared last on the screen.  So far these Genious Playlists have not returned.  Hope this helps.

  • Turn off shuffle in itunes

I can't figure our how to turn off the shuffle in my iPhone's iTunes! Help?

    ED3K wrote:
just start playing music from your artists, songs, etc list without selecting Shuffle.. not hard.
If Shuffle was previously used, it will remain ON even if you don't select the "Shuffle" selection at the top of a playlist, album, or All Songs by an artist. You have to turn if OFF from the Now Playing screen anytime it was previously used.
