Turning off work phone calls and text

Hi I wonder if anyone can help please. I use my phone for business and personal calls but find it infuriating when work colleagues telephone during periods when I'm not working. Is there any way that I can turn off a group of work contacts so that their calls go to voicemail during certain periods and store their texts just as if it would if I turned the whole phone off? I want to be able to have personal calls and texts coming through to me but just can't find a way to send the work calls to voicemail.
If someone could help please I will be eternally grateful. I am ready to purchase the new Blackberry Classic as long as there is a feature like this that I can use.

What you can do is on each business contact you can set the notifications to silent. So you would hear phone calls/texts from your private friends but not from your work colleagues.
It is not possible to redirect certain contacts to voice mail, that would be a carrier function.

My 4S iphone keeps trying to turn off during phone calls and drops the calls. Sometimes I have to call back 3-4 times to finish a conversation.

While talking on my iphone, the phone tries to turn itself off. Not just once, but continuous, and not just dropping the call, but actually tries to turn itself off.

Well, then I'm glad this is most probably not a hardware issue - at least not an exceptional, maybe defect of all? -. This seems to be a good idea, because 2G will nearly everywhere available, so phone calls are not likely to drop at all. I'm just a bit confused, because they promised intelligent switch even during calls. For me that means that if the better, faster connection is available, then it uses that, and if it wouldn't be, then it switches to the slower one.
Anyways, thanks for your reply. I guess it's a "just get used to it" issue.

I am traveling to Buenos Aires from the United States for a minimester.. I called my cellular carrier and they do not have a plan to save me money in regards to phone calls and texts. I have the app What'sApp so I can use a data plan they offered me to keep in contact while I am way, however I am still afraid of racking up charges in texts and phone calls. Is there any possible way to turn off phone calls and text and strictly use the data plan they have given me?
I have the iPhone 5. Thank you.

FYI, that won't work. AirPlane disables all radio communications.
The best way to do this is to divert all calls.
Go to Settings
Phone
call forwarding and switch to O
Type in your carriers default voicemail number. Because it is the default number for voicemail is an exception in their list you won't be charged for the diversion.
remember to switch this off when you get back.
Then go to messages turn off send as SMS and MMS.
That should avoid most of the charges. Its inevitable that you'll get some but hopefully if you're careful it will be minimal.
Have you thought of using a local sim while you're there, you're iMessage will still work and your home SIM and account will be inactive so you won't get any unforseen chardges?

go to settings
then to store
tap your id then click sign out
then sign back in and you should be fine

Icannot turn off my phone (4S) and cant control volume

I called Vodafone corporate help desk as I have a company phone :-
I was told to hold down the off button at the top of the handset at the same time as holding down the round menu button at the bottom of the handset for 20 seconds - the phone went off, then restarted and it all seems OK now.
Def something with the ios 6.1.2 upgrade :-((

How do I stop all notification dings except phone calls and texts?

I have gone into Sounds, Notification Center (turning off all alerts on all apps) and the phone is still dinging. I can't figure out if it is an app. There are no notifications on my screen.

Go to Settings > Facetime and turn off iPhone Cellular Calls for the phone ringing portion.
For emails, you need to go to Settings > Messages and look at receive messages at and uncheck the same address, which is evidently checked on both devices.

Vibrate not working on calls and texts

It's weird. The virbrate just isn't happening for calls and texts anymore. It's fine in other apps (I got a free 'massage app' to test it.) What is happening to my 4S?

I figured it out. And this may help a lot pf people. Someone (maybe me) at some point toggled the 'do not disturb' to ON which silenced calls and texts completely. Switched it back to OFF. PROBLEM SOLVED.

I have a work cell and would prefer to just have one phone on me, however, I don't want to lose my personal cell number.

So, if I understand what you want to do - you want to keep your current, personal cell #, and forward all calls to your work phone. (I'm not sure if text messages can be forwarded, you may be able to use the desktop Messages app to view and reply to text messages when the phone is not with you.)
In order to accomplish this, you need to have service on the phone number ... what plan are you on now? And what phone do you have on your personal Verizon line?

Iphone turn off during phone call

Hi, my iPhone 3GS (with iOS 5.0.1) turn off automatically during normal phone calls (i.e. without hands-free talking) after approx. 5 minutes. After a couple of minutes the iPhone come back to the normal "standby" situation, i.e. I can press the home button and unlock the iPhone to do everthing like normal (without any long phone calls). When I am using hands-free talking (like in the car) the iPhone is working as expected without any malfunction.
This effect was shown up at each call (> 5 min.) since the update to iOS 5. By using of iOS 4 the iPhone has worked as expected.
Who knows about this effect and possible solutions to fix it?

Connect iPhone to Wall Charger for 10 minutes, it may turn ON itself. If still nothing, keep on charger and Reset, hold both home and power buttons for about 20 seconds until the iPhone begins to respond.

This may very well be an issue with the proximity sensor. Take it to an Apple Store; they'll be able to let you know for sure. But first, to rule out a software issue, try a reset: Hold the home and power buttons at the same time until the Apple boot logo appears.

Iphone 6 turns off during phone calls

This happens intermittently when making a phone call. Screen goes dark, -cannot bring screen back on and have to shutdown the phone and restart.
Any ideas as to where to start to resolve this?

If the proximity sensor is covered by a case, your hand, or by being close to your face, the screen should go dark and unresponsive, but the call should not be disconnected.
Is there anything covering the proximity sensor? It is located between the earpiece and the top edge.

Thank you! I'm glad I'm not alone. I've had my pre for about 6 weeks and I love it. So... I bought an INVISI-SHIELD for over $20 at Best Buy. Then the flickering and blank screens started a few days later. The only difference was the new protective, invisible, EXPENSIVE piece of plastic - so I trim it back to just the face (assuming it was a side sensor glitch) but it still didn't stop it. So I peeled off the skin tonight and it seems to be fine... for the time being.
A WARNING would've been nice before I spent my money. I want to be reimbursed by Sprint! Thanks community - it was nice to get help from YOU!
