Turning ON Save Prompt before Previewing in Browser

Hi -
Forgive me if this has been addressed, but I've searched through the forums and can only find requests to do the opposite of what I need.
I WANT Dreamweaver to prompt me to save my html file and attached CSS file before I preview in a browser. When I select "Preview in (Safari for example)", Dreamweaver does not ask me to save the files before previewing.
I DO NOT have the "Preview Using Temporary File" option checked in the Preferences pane.
Why is Dreamweaver not prompting me to save my files? This is getting very frustrating - I'm having to save everything on my own before I preview.
Thanks for the help!

Hello,
Sorry to hear you're having trouble previewing your Typekit fonts!  Would you be able to share the URL where the fonts are not loading?  If you'd rather not post it in the forum, you can email it to [email protected]
There is a browser bug in Chrome v33 browser which can affect any web fonts, including those loaded from Typekit. It's possible you are running into this problem:
http://blog.typekit.com/2014/02/28/new-bug-in-chrome-v33-affecting-web-fonts/
If you'd share the website URL, we can take a look and see if this is the same bug or if something else is going on.  Thank you,

    Cannot save opened tabs before closing the browser. I do not know if there is such a feature (should be), and how to activate it.
    It was very useful with previous version.

    One change in Firefox 4 is to by default stop Firefox displaying the warning message, but it can be turned back on by changing some preferences.
    # Type '''about:config''' into the location bar and press enter
    # Accept the warning message that appears, you will be taken to a list of preferences
    # Locate the preference '''browser.tabs.warnOnClose''', if its value is set to '''false''', double-click on it to change its value to '''true'''
    # Repeat this for these 3 preferences '''browser.warnOnQuit''', '''browser.warnOnRestart''' and '''browser.showQuitWarning'''
    If you always open the last set of tabs an alternative approach is this:
    # Click the orange Firefox button, then select options to open the options window
    # Go to the General panel
    # Change the setting "When Firefox starts" to "Show my windows and tabs from last time"

  • Preview in browser IE7 - It asks to open or save file..why?

    Whenever I use the preview in browser option with Dreamweaver
    CS3 and Vista's IE7 as default I get an open or save file prompt.
    How do I stop this from occuring so that my webpage will
    display within IE7 and I don't get this prompt each time?
    Many thanks for your help.

    Wouldn't matter in this case. There is something wrong at the
    system level
    for the browser not to recognize the file's extension.

  • Preview in Browser Save/Put Options?

    Hi folks,
    I have what seems like a simple problem - new in this second
    website I am started in my Dreamweaver. I used to be able to hit
    the F12 button, be asked if I wanted to save, and said yes - no
    message about "putting" and no blue arrows happily streaming across
    in small box...Now, it seems I cannot escape the "Putting" function
    if I want to preview? I have gone to Preferences, and checked and
    unchecked the box about about that (I think) with no difference, it
    just seems faster if the box is checked!
    Wondering how I can just preview an ordinary HTML file in
    browser locally? It is unnerving to experiment on your page, and go
    to preview it, if it is going to be "put' and the "experiment" is
    now out on the web?
    Thanks for any ideas!
    Carol

    Now, please tell me again the details of your symptoms? You
    preview, and DW
    tries to connect to a remote site? (this is the problem with

  • DW8 Save before preview

    Hello,
    I am not new to DW, I have used MX a lot. I have just started
    using DW8 this morning and it seems very pretty and it looks like a
    lot of new tools will be very helpful. I am frustrated that when I
    want to preview even the SMALLEST change, DW asks me to save. If I
    say no, it previews the previously saved document rather than my
    current code.
    This I fine VERY VERY annoying as I can fire through many
    change/preview cycles inside a couple minutes and saving just takes
    more time. Further, I am not sure I want to save it until AFTER I
    see the effect of my change.
    Is there anyway to stop DW8 from asking to save and render
    the from code from memory as opposed to disk-saved code. I PREFER
    to decide when to save on my own (just like deciding when to wear
    my seat belt!!). :-)
    Thanks for any help.
    P.F.

    If you elect to use temp files in Preview in Browser, you
    will not be asked
    to save first.
    > basically a snapshot of the file in its current state
    While true, it's a great deal more than just this. All root
    relative links
    have been converted to document relative, all include markup
    has been
    written to the page, all CSS has been written to the page,
    etc.

  • Prompt user to save change before abnormally closing the application

    Hi,
    I've some trouble prompting user to save change before abnormally closing the application (logging off, shutdownding machine...). I tried to use Runtime.getRuntime().addShutdownHook() and it doesn't seem to work. Here's part of my code. Help please!!!
    program print out "1" and stays in a "dead-lock" mode...
    private void shutdown() {
    boolean saveConfig = true;
    if (saveConfig) {
    System.out.println("1 ");
    int answer = JOptionPane.showConfirmDialog(null,
    "Configuration has been changed. Do you want to save
    configuration before exit?",
    "Save Config"
    JOptionPane.
    YES_NO_CANCEL_OPTION);
    JOptionPane.showMessageDialog(this, "Can't connect to unit. Error in Heal unit!", "Error", JOptionPane.INFORMATION_MESSAGE);
    System.out.println("2 ");
    if (answer == 0) {
    savefileButton_actionPerformed();
    jMenuFileExit_actionPerformed();
    else if (answer == 1) {
    jMenuFileExit_actionPerformed();
    else {
    return;
    else {
    int answer = JOptionPane.showConfirmDialog(itself,
    "Are you sure you want to exit? ",
    "Exit",
    JOptionPane.YES_NO_OPTION);
    if (answer == 0) {
    jMenuFileExit_actionPerformed();
    else {
    return;
    private class MyShutdownHook extends Thread {
    public void run() {
    shutdown();
    // add shutdown hook
    MyShutdownHook shutdownHook = new MyShutdownHook();
    Runtime.getRuntime().addShutdownHook(shutdownHook);

    doesn't much matter. shutdown hooks are not guaranteed to run or be able to finish.

  • Prompting SaveAs when Form in Web Browser is closed.

    Hi All,
    I'm configuring with LiveCycle Designer 7.1 on LiveCycle Forms 7.1 server.
    If a saved form is opened and changed in Adobe Reader 7 with Reader Extensions enabled, Reader prompts users to save their PDF form when they close their form (i.e. with the standard x on the top right hand corner of a window).
    We would like the same prompt to appear for a freshly-rendered form the user sees within a web browser session when the form is about to close. It would be good if we can avoid two Save prompts from appearing in a saved PDF, as Adobe Reader has its own in-built save alert.
    To firstly trigger the prompt, I have tried using the following in the docClose event at the xfa.form.MyForm level:
    var saveResponse = xfa.host.messageBox(Save form?, windowname, 2, 2);
    If (saveResponse == 4)
    app.execMenuItem(SaveAs);
    But I observed that the message box appears only after the form disappears. When the Yes button is selected, no SaveAs window comes up. It seems as if the script executes only after the document is closed.
    Has success with implementing something like this?
    Thanks,
    Xiao

    Hi there
    Assuming you were Publishing in version 3 and choosing the HTML option, the standard.js file was likely there. I'd be totally shocked to find it wasn't part of the equation. This calls into question what your perception of Publishing is.
    I ask, because if you are coming at this from a Web Developer perspective, Publishing likely means something totally different to you than it does in the Captivate realm. In Captivate, you Publish to take the source .CP file and create output files from that source.
    In the Web Development realm, the act of Publishing is performing a process that transfers copies of the content on your hard drive to the Web Server.
    I'm wondering if somehow you have your Windows setup configured such that it doesn't show you files with a .JS file extension. That's the only other possibility I can fathom as to why you wouldn't be seeing it.

  • Automatic updating when preview in browser

    Hi, could anyone tell me how to get DWCS3 to prompt me to save changes to a page when I go to preview in a browser? It always used to, but now it goes direct to the preview and I have to save changes manually. What did I do?

  • Preview In Browser Not Working With Safari 3.0 On Mac

    When using the "Preview in Browser" command from DW CS3, the
    file address information is incorrect when previewed in Safari 3.0.
    I don't recall this being a problem before I updated my Mac to
    Tiger. Anyone else had any problems with this?
    Thanks,
    cloud9indusrties

    If the address information is incorrect you should double
    check your paths. Also, consider using the computer's IP address if
    you can as opposed to the localhost address. All you would need to
    make that work is to just turn on Web Sharing in the preferences
    (this turns on Apache web server). I have found this to be a much
    more reliable method on the Mac.
    Also, please make sure, if you have not already done so, that
    Safari is the latest version (meaning the final release and not the
    beta), because there were issues with the beta that I had.

  • Will not display images in preview in browse

    Hello:
    I am new to fireworks and am attempting to make a simple pop up menu but am having trouble viewing the image.  First, I converted a .jpeg image to a button. I then put menu pop-up functions on this button.  When I displayed it in preview with browser, the pop-up images displayed, but there was an "x'd" out image where the original should have been.
    I was curious about why this was, figured that there was a problem with the file that I imported, and so I decided to just use one of the library's buttons.  Again - the original button was "x'd" out but the pup-up functions displayed.
    I therefore decided to go even more basic and simply painted an image gray and attempted to preview in browser.  Again, "x'd" out image.
    Can someone please tell me how to fix this??  It is driving me INSANE!!!!
    The crazy thing is that earlier this morning, everything was working just fine.  The images would display perfectly.  Now, they are gone and I am at witt's end trying to figure out what the heck is going on.
    If ANYONE could please help me, I would be in such gratitude.
    Thanks
    Ben (noob to web design)

    If you think you're insane now, try maintaining those pop up menus.
    As far as I know, these menus have not been updated since FW 8, so
    they are at least two versions old.
    Save yourself a lot of grief by avoiding those menus. There are many
    other products on the market which do a much better job of creating
    and maintaining this type of navigation structure.
    Read this link before you climb any higher on this slippery slope:
    http://apptools.com/rants/jsmenu.php
    There was another blog post by the fellow who originally wrote the pop
    up menu feature, but I can't seem to locate it. Even he says stay away
    from them.
    Not the answer you probably want, but I hope it helps, nonetheless.

  • Preview in browser is not working in Bridge CS6. There also does not seem to be an option to change browsers.

    I am trying to create a web gallery in CS6. I have done this before in Photoshop with CS3, but now that it has changed to bridge it doesn't seem to work for me. There is no preview option within Bridge which is a bit frustrating, but I at least have the "preview in browser" options. Except, when I hit "preview in browser", my browser opens but it just opens to the current window open - I am not getting a preview at all. The only way I can seem to preview is to save the file, then open it in the browser - but this way I cannot play with the various settings and I am finding it very frustrating.
    There should be a way in Bridge to change the default browser. Perhaps my browser settings are not allowing it to open, however, I cannot find an option to switch it open in another browser... also very frustrating.
    This extremely simple web gallery creator, which I have used easily in CS3, seems to be less user friendly in Bridge.
    Any ideas on how to change browsers or fix the browser I am currently using to use the "preview in browser" button?

  • Preview in browser - Firefox / File not found

    Specs:
    OS X 10.4.7
    Dreamweaver 8.0.2
    Firefox 1.5.0.1
    I (and my whole office) am having a major problem. We all
    work directly from files on our osx server. When working in
    Dreamweaver and trying to "Preview in browser" with Firefox 1.5 we
    get a "File not found" error. The problem seems to be stemming from
    the path lacking the "Volumes" part of the directory.
    For example:
    When I preview in Safari the path is shown as:
    file:///Volumes/Server_HD/Website_Folder/index.html (this
    works)
    But on Firefox or Mozilla I get:
    file:///Server_HD/Website_Folder/index.html (this does not
    work)
    This problem did not occur in previous versions of Firefox.
    Due do this problem, I have virtually eliminated Firefox as part of
    my workflow in favor of Safari. I would love to return to Firefox
    can anybody please help me!?

    Can you try again please, although not in a narrative? Just
    go to the
    ADVANCED tab on the Site Definition panel, and list the

    need for the

  • Preview in Browser - IE not working

    Whenever I click on preview in browser - IE, it doesn't work.
    I've tried pasting the link into IE, but it gives me the prompt to
    open/save/cancel. When I click open, it goes back to DW window.
    This is the only browser I am having difficulty with.
    I have only had the program loaded since Saturday and it
    worked sporadically then, but now, nothing.
    I haven't had any IE updates or window updates.
    Regards.

    Is this an HTML file? Or something else?

  • Saving before previewing...?

    Can anyone shed light on this for me? In DW CS3 for Mac, the
    app seems to insist that in order to preview in FF or Safari I ahve
    to save the file; ok, fair enough, but the thing I keep
    encountering is that if I save a file -- in order to preview
    progress -- but I've made some sublte, boneheaded, high wire-change
    to my page that is buried in the CSS somewhere and it completely
    makes the page go south, I have no way to 'unsave' and go back to
    where I was before I executed my hairbrained experiment.......
    The 'history' panel seems unintuitive and doesn't work as one
    expects ( as in PSD files)....Am I missing some little
    'workaround'..............I'd be most grateful for some
    advice...........this is so annoying.......

    go to dw preferences->Preview in Browser
    put a checkmark in "preview with temp files"
