Turning Passcode off

How can I turn off my passcode?  I have gone through Settings>General>Passcode Lock and entered my passcode, but when I get to Turn Passcode Off, it is greyed out and I cannot click on it to turn the passcode off.  What can I do about this?

If you have an Exchange account set up on the phone, the administrators can enforce a policy requiring a passcode lock.  If that's the case, you can not remove the passcode without deleting the Exchange account from the phone.

  • "Turn Passcode Off" is grayed out.

After upgrading to iOS 7 on my Ipad 3 the "Turn Passcode Off" button is grayed out. I did have an Exchange account on it, but I have since removed it. I also have an iPhone 5 on iOS 7 and I can turn off and on the passcode at will even with an Exchange account. I have reapplied the update and restored same thing. Then I completly reset it and I could turn it off and on. But as soon as I restored the passcode lock came back. Also as not "Erase Data" is also grayed out.

Reset all Settings will work. I canceled it though before it started.
Also if it matters I can change my passcode, just not turn it off.

  • HT4113 cannot turn passcode off

I downloaded an app that required I choose a passcode.  Now I want to turn this feature off on my IPhone but it will not allow me to.  It says turn passcode off but it's not highlighted and when I press it nothing happens...

As far as I know there are no apps that require a passcode. There is on some exchange servers that require you to have a passcode on your phone to use the exchange server. Also having a passcode on your phone is a good idea as if you lose it your personal data is safe from prying eyes. Not sure why anyone would want to leave their phone that unsecure in the first place.

  • Disable the password protection - Turn passcode off in ios 6.1

    Hi,
Yesterday, I've upgraded my iphone 5 to ios 6.1
Since then the phone asked me to enter a new password and from that point on, I can't disable this option and  every time my phone gets locked and I open it I need to enter my password.
How do I disable it ??
from the settings options I can't this option to Turn the passcode off is in gray (Disable).
Does anyone know what to do ?
    Thanks,

Do you have an exchange account from your school or employer set up?  If so, they have overridden the default settings to enforce passcode use.  They do this simply by pushing out a security certificate via their exchange server.  The only way to get rid of those restrictions will be to remove the exchange account and no longer use it.

  • Turn Passcode Off Option Doesn't Show

I would sometimes like to be able to disable the passcode feature on my iTouch. My son has an iTouch and by looking at his and by reading online I should be able to go to Settings -> General -> Passcode Lock and see an option to turn it off. I see no such option. The first option on that panel is Change Passcode.
There is an option like that on my son's iTouch. What's the deal?

I have the same as your son's. All I can suggest is the standard restart and/or reset solutions. They can't hurt and they may help.
"If something is not working right, restarting or resetting iPod touch will likely solve the problem.
Restart iPod touch: Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button until the red slider appears. Slide your finger across the slider to turn off iPod touch. To turn iPod touch back on, press and hold the Sleep/Wake until the Apple logo appears.
Reset iPod touch: Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button and the Home button at the same time for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears."

  • Can't turn Passcode off!

I know my passcode, but I'm tired of entering it. But in the menu where I should be able to turn it off, the button is greyed out. WHY??

If you delete the exchange email, you should then be able to turn off the passcode lock. That's assuming you don't want email. If this is a work phone, then of course your company decides what you can do. You should be able to up the time between when the code needs to be entered to an hour, that will keep the nagging down to just a few times a day.

  • I'm struggling to turn the passcode off

This should be simple but it isnt.  Every time i try to turn off the passcode i enter a loop which leads to a request to change the passcode , not to turn it off.  The 'turn passcode off' button remains greyed out.  How do i overcome this.

Do you have an Exchange email account on your iPad ? If you do then the account administrator may be forcing the use of a passcode.

  • I have an iPod touch 2G and I can't set up a passcode lock. I hit "Turn Passcode on" and then enter the passcode I want. Then it brings me back to the Passcode Lock Screen, NOT turning on my passcode.

I hit "Turn Passcode on" and then enter the passcode I want. Then it brings me back to the Passcode Lock Screen, NOT turning on my passcode. Now this iPod touch is a gift from my family, used before me. I set up my iTunes account, but when i view my Apple account it's not showing up. Is this the reason my iPod isnt working? Please help.

    The users guide says:
    Passcode Lock
By default, iPod touch doesn’t require you to enter a passcode to unlock it.
Set a passcode: Choose General > Passcode Lock and enter a 4-digit passcode, then enter the passcode again to verify it. iPod touch then requires you to enter the passcode to unlock it or to display the passcode lock settings.
Turn passcode lock off: Choose General > Passcode Lock, enter your passcode, and tap Turn Passcode Off, then enter your passcode again.
Change the passcode: Choose General > Passcode Lock, enter your passcode, and tap Change Passcode. Enter your passcode again, then enter and reenter your new passcode.
    Try:
    - Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.

  • Passcode off permanently in iOS 8.1

    Is this possible anymore?
So far, iOS 8.1 insists (after awhile) that I *must* re-implement a passcode.
(FWIW, with iOS 7 I could turn off passcodes permanently, sending iPads to sales prospects secure in the knowledge they could easily operate the iPad over the course of several weeks, reviewing media devoted to their projects, and not finding themselves locked out.)
    Advice much appreciated.

    Hey walter.dufresne,
Thanks for the question. While we strongly recommend that you operate your device with a passcode for maximum privacy and security, it is definitely possible to have the passcode completely disabled. However, there are a few instances where you might not be able to turn passcode off:

Can’t turn off your passcode or change passcode settings?
If you can't turn off or change your passcode settings or these settings are grey or dimmed out, you might be:
    - Using Touch ID, which requires a passcode.
    - Using a configuration profile that requires a passcode. This is common with business or education devices. Contact your IT administrator for more information.
    Thanks,
    Matt M.

  • The image came up on my screen saying that I need to connect my iPod to iTunes, but I have a passcode, so it won't allow me to. And I want to try and turn it off, but my touch screen doesn't seem to be working either. HELP!

The image came up on my screen saying that I need to connect my iPod to iTunes, but I have a passcode, so it won't allow me to. And I want to try and turn it off, but my touch screen doesn't seem to be working either, so I can't even turn it off since you need to "slide to power off." HELP! I'm leaving on Thursday morning for six and a half weeks, and I absolutely need my iPod with me. I was just at the Apple store today for problems I was having with ANOTHER product, and I don't really want to drive all the way out to where my nearest store is (which is not very near) if I can figure this out at home. My iPod was working totally fine earlier today and last night, so I don't know what happened! Please, please, PLEASE HELP!

Now it's allowing me to reboot (hold down power button and home button and restart), but every time it just comes up to the same thing: the connect to iTunes page. Which is not possible. And I refuse to restore my iPod. PLEASE HELP.

Try this - http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1212 - also you can sign into www.icloud.com and remote erase the phone
recovery mode restore as descibed in HT1808 might be  your last resort though

  • I can't turn off picture frame by using the settings passcode...the button won't turn it off.

I can't turn off picture frame on the lock screen.  The button accessed through settings won't let me turn it off.  How do I do this?  Thanks.

You can only turn off Picture Frame if you have a passcode lock set on the iPad - if you don't have a passcode lock then the on/off slider is protected
