Turning profile to "online" on kindle HD

I'm sure this is an easy answer but I just need a little help. I bought and set up a Kindle fire HD for aged parents in the UK while I was visiting before returning to the US. Both my parents used it with no problems while I was there and happily recieved calls from my brother and his infant son in Scotland- some very happy grandparent smiles! I left drawings and written instructions so that my parents can turn on the kindle, get into skype and answer video chat calls from myself or my brother.
Since I have returned to the US my brother has called them, and they can't get the profile I set up for them to go "online", my brother sees them as "offline" so obviously they can't receive calls.
Does anyone know where the button to put their profile online is? Is it in contacts - do they see their own profile and click to say "online"? Or is it in profile?
Please understand that they are old, and technophobes, so I really need step by step that I can talk them through. If anyone can provide a screenshot that would be ideal!

Why can't I turn profile manager on?

I just downloaded Lion Server and I am a complete novice. There is a pretty good chance I am doing something wrong, but basically I am trying to set up profile manager so I can get VPN access from my Mac at work to my network at home. From what I understand, profile manager can make this happen with ease, but for whatever reason I cannot turn profile manager on. It says its on in Server.app, but when I click to get to the web interface, it says the service is turned off. Anyone have any advice on how I can resolve this problem?

How to create a turn-based multiplayer online game?

Hello. This is my first time here. I am familiar with programming games and have been doing so for 20 years. However, I'm completely new to using Java to do so. In the past, I wrote games in BASIC, Blitz, and C++ using DirectX. Being familiar with C/C++, the Java language syntax is not a hurdle for me.
I've never created a networking game, but I feel that if I tried to create one using one of the programming languages I already know that I would succeed at doing so. (I'm just trying to show that I feel confident in programming with the languages that i know)
The dilemma here is that someone else would like me to program a turn'based multiplayer game for them in Java.
I've downloaded the NetBeans 4.1 IDE and uncovered a lot of terms and such that I'm unfamiliar with.
What I'm looking for from you guys is an overview of what I need to do to achieve my ultimate goal of creating this online game.
As a reference, I need to create a game very similar to this one:

Upon starting the NetBeans IDE, I found that I could create several different types of projects. I guess first of all, I need to know what kind of project is best suited to make this type of game.
To name a few, I have to select from:
Java Application
Java Class Library (is this an Applet?)
Web Application
Enterprise Application
EJB Module
Then I guess I would like to know if any of the above projects would be used to make the clients interface or the server side software or both? Or do I need to use some other kind of software/programming language/etc. to create the server side? (As a side note, typically what kind of Operating system would the server be using? I ask because I may set one up myself for testing purposes.)
Somewhere I came upon the term 'Servlet'. Is this some kind of Java server application? Do I need/want to be using this?
As you can see, I'm very lost at where to begin. I'm not at all unfamiliar with programming. I'm just unfamiliar with Java.

I am in the process of learning Java myself and from what i have read, you have a long road ahead of you!
To start this Project the following will be essential for you to know:
Applets - if this is going to an online game
Multiple Threads - for the Server side
Swing - for the GUI on both sides
AWT - help work with the user input (mouseListeners, buttonListeners, etc)
And knowledge of a database.
those are the most obvious things that you will need to understand.
I strongly suggest buying a Java book from which you need to start at the beginning. Although the concept of OOP is the same through most languages Java has terms - as do all languages- that will be different from the other languages. Starting at the beginning will be beneficial to your Java coding future.

I have spent the last few hours reading and trying everything I could to get my printer in the online position. Then I came across a small blurb that suggested shutting everything off. Everything! I had turned of my computer several times and reloaded printer (copy2, 3, and 4), to no avail. But although I check to make sure the printer was on, I never rebooted it. So I did and hurrah!!! it worked.

HT201401 I am trying to locate my iphone but my laptop is saying the phone is offline, can I turn the phone online from my laptop? How can I locate if the phone is offline?

Lens Profiles - Search Online greyed out

Hello,
I was looking for more lens profiles within Photoshop CS5 and I noticed that within the "Lens Correction" window under "Lens Profiles" the "Search Online" button is greyed out. I am looking for more Canon lenses.
1. Why would this option be greyed out?
2. Where can I go to get more Canon Lens Profiles?

That helps to understand what is going on, I checked my images in Bridge and under "Lens" in the EXIF information there is no data, so this makes sense.
I just took some experimental shots and Bridge verifies that is has the Lens data. I pulled them into Photoshop Lens Correction and the "Search Online" button is now available.
I am not sure why it did not see the lens data before and does now. Perhaps it is because I recently ran the Canon EOS Utility and registered the Lens Peripheral Illumination Correction data with the camera? I am not sure.

In Applications/Utilities open the Keychain Access app.
Have the Login item in the top left panel selected and Passwords in the lower left.
Find the AIM entry on the right
Double Click
Tick the Password box.
In the dialogue box that appears enter your Mac User Password and click the Allow Once button
The password will show in the text field next to the box.

Just Tactics: turn based 1v1 online strategy game. Getting it Running

About a week ago I stumbled across Just Tactics on the Linux Game Database and thought, wow, it's like chess, but much more complex. Sounds awesome, right? So I checked out the Just Tactics Wiki, and saw that only 32 bit Ubuntu is officially supported. Well, obviously that's not gonna stop me.
To cut a long story very short, here are the 32 bit libraries I installed (in order), and an additional step to match Ubuntu. I'm not sure if everything is necessary, I just know it's working now.

Part of the reason I'm not certain as to which libraries are actually needed has to do with Ubuntu's use of ia32-libs, which is basically every 32 bit library under the sun (figuratively) in one package. I'm also not sure whether the symlink is actually need, as I installed lib32-gtk at the same time. I'll need to remove it and test.
Hopefully, once I know exactly what's necessary, I can post the information to both our wiki, and theirs.

The server could keep track of whos turn it is. When its a new players turn the server could send a message to that player requesting his 'move'. the server would ignore any messages sent from other players. The server could easily, then, just rotate thru all the players.

Turning Old "Synced" Online Images Into Fully Managed Albums

What is the model for old online albums — i.e. for those with images synced with Aperture but not uploaded originally from the Aperture library? It seems these "downloaded" images behave as of they live online, and cannot be fully edited or managed in Aperture. Is that right? Is there a way to transform such images into full Aperture library images? Or is the only way to do this to to (a) really download the image to Aperture and then (b) re-upload (and replace) the downloaded image on the server (typically loosing any server data for the image in the process)?

Yes, you cannot adjust Remote Images. You should be able to just drag the images from the Mobile Me album to an existing Project in your library and there by making them "local". You can then drag them back to the web album in question, delete the remote version and re publish. You do lose what was associated with the initial remote image though.

How to sync contacts from Palm profile to online account.

I got my palm pre last week and the store transfered my contacts from my old phone to my palm pre. When I go to edit a contact, it shows their default account is to my palm pre and therefore their info's not syncing with my gmail account. When I enter new contacts, they default to google and sync with my gmail account.
Does anybody know how to change my existing contacts default account so they'll sync with google?

What i know is that palm profile info cant be extracted to a computer. Your best option is to get your old phone and sync it to your computer.
