Turning transparent objects opaque

Can I make a translucent object appear opaque without using fill? I made a sketch and I'm trying to have it appear in front of the background. Unfortunately, if I use any kind of fill, it ruins my sketch? Is there a way to get around this?

I'm guessing that you can see some background coming through your translucent sections?
without the background selected you cold try flatten transparency, but you will find it changes edit-ability somewhat.
without knowing exactly what your seeing it is hard to help.
a screen shot of what is happening would help us help you.

  • Lines appear around transparent objects!

    Hello,
    I think my previous post on this topic was lost somewhere in the adobe forums machine, so please excuse my repost.
    I've noticed that exporting layouts from InDesign CS3 that contain transparent graphics causes the resulting PDF to show DARK LINES AROUND the transparent objects (at the transparent border). I've been using all compatibilities (1.3--1.7), and found that the lines appear on any PDF set to 1.4 or above. (1.3 doesn't have the lines, but it shows stitching lines (white lines) around the entire transparent frame box, so it's unusable.)
    If I zoom in and out with the reader, I see the lines come and go, but don't want users to see a poorly rendered PDF at ANY zoom level.
    How can I create a professional looking PDF without lines at the transparent borders?
    thanks,
    JP

    Thanks for the reply. That thread was helpful in showing some of the effects that I'm seeing (e.g., turning off "image smoothing" in the Acrobat preferences helps). However, I'm still interested in producing a clean looking PDF that doesn't contain dark pixels all around the edges of the transparent images.
    To show what I'm talking about, I've posted a picture of screen captures with explanations at: http://www.viveredesign.com/images/example3.jpg
    This effect only appears when I export a PDF with the Compatibility set to anything above "Acrobat 4 (PDF 1.3)" (so it only looks good with the oldest item in the list).
    If anyone has a suggestion on how to create a PDF without this effect, please let me know. I know I can always just put the blend in to the original image, but that seems so 1990's ;)
    thanks,
    JP

  • Print transparent object in Word to pdf and then to printer ugly.

    Dear All,
    I have a Word document in which I have a bitmap figure. Over this bitmap I have drawn a green 50% transparent rectangle. When printing this directly from Word to the printer everything is fine, if I print it first to a pdf using Acrobat I get a pdf that looks allright (the transparency is simulated by a very fine checker board pattern) but when I then print this pdf to my printer I get interference in the transparent region, which makes this unusable. My guess is that the printer is trying to print this fine pattern and fails. The solution would be that when printing to a pdf the pdf should contain a transparent rectange instead of a checker board pattern.
    Is there anybody with the same problem or someone who knows how to solve this? Any help is appreciated!
    Thanks,
    Vincent

    Problem solved!!
    Besides the large bitmap I also had an Excel graph pasted into my Word document. This also gave problems. The solution was to shrink the size of the bitmap by first croping it and that pasting it into the Word document, and the graph from Excel has the be pasted as Windows metafile picture. Then using the PDF button in Word creates a pdf with the correct transparency objects. I cannot print the pdf right now because my printer is down but I have no doubt it will work.
    Thanks a lot!!

  • Problems with transparent objects InDesign CS5.5

    Hi, I have troubles with using transparent objects in InDesign CS5.5 (Win7):
    If there is a transparent object in the background, is problem to move with another objects over this area. The object moving over the area with transparency "erases" objects below: texts, boxes.... They are not in fact erased, this effect tooks  only for the moment of movement and little bit longer. I have to wait for a while and after it is ok, but the work is slower and software is not working fast as I was got used in older versions.
    This trouble is not a problem of my computer (I have a new one with 16GB RAM, i5 processor), the same trouble with the same InDesign is on my laptop.
    Updates of InDesign are automatically installed.
    Can you give me some advice?
    Thanks, Petra
    this is screenshot - I moved with blue object - below you can see trails of "erasing"

    Yes, exactly, looks like glitch in the video. After I stop moving with object, everything is ok again. But not immidiatelly, there is a little delay (1 or 2 seconds). It doesn´t demage my work, it´s only glitch effect. But it delay me in work, it´s not pleasant to work with this glitch effects

  • Can anyone reccomend a tutorial for extracting transparent objects?

    Hi
    I'm in need of a tutorial detailng how to extract a transparent object (like a sheer fabric) from it's background so I can replace the background.
    cs5
    I googled it, but nothing really came up.
    Thanks

    Would be same as any other object.  The problem with selecting a sheer fabric is that it will also take with it any thing showing through.  No there is no cure for that.

  • Publish Transparent to Opaque Text

    I am new to Flash and am trying to do the following:
    Motion tween with text. Moving text from pt A to pt B and
    from transparent/invisible to opaque. I am doing this in one layer
    with a movie imported that plays in another. When I play it back in
    flash it looks fine. I have converted the text to a graphic symbol
    too.
    When I publish the fla to swf and play back the text tween,
    say in a browser, the tween movement is there, but not from
    transparent to opaque. It remains opaque the entire time. What am I
    doing wrong?
    Thanks!

    I converted the text to a graphic symbol so I could create
    the transparency percentage. Can I do a transparency to opaque

  • Xfce4-panel transparent with opaque text/icons

    I'm trying to achieve panel transparency with opaque text/icons, I googled around and eventually found a few helpful posts. I'm trying to use the patch guide posted in this topic a few years back:
    https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?id=71248
    when I try to makepkg, "xfce4-panel-4.6.1.tar.bz2" doesn't pass a validity check for the md5sums. Is this patch even up to date? If it isnt where can I find a more up to date one because so far I've been unsuccessful in that regard.
    Also, I assume that patching is still the only option for achieving this transparency effect in xfce4 or has something new been developed?

    Sorry about my last post. I just thought that if you couldn't get it to work with opaque icons, then you wanted the next best thing. Anyway, maybe it is because the patch is for xfce 4.6.1 .

    This is how I patched mine:

    build() {
    cd ${srcdir}/${pkgname}-${pkgver}
    patch -Np0 -i /home/"your-name"/xfce4-panel-build/xfce4-panel-4.6.1_cairo.patch
    ./configure --prefix=/usr --sysconfdir=/etc --libexecdir=/usr/lib \
    --localstatedir=/var --disable-static
    make || return 1
    make DESTDIR=${pkgdir} install || return 1
    xfce4-panel.install file:
    post_install() {
    gtk-update-icon-cache -q -t -f usr/share/icons/hicolor
    post_upgrade() {
    post_install $1
    post_remove() {
    gtk-update-icon-cache -q -t -f usr/share/icons/hicolor
    then in the xfce4-panel-build folder run this in a terminal:
    makepkg -c
    I think this should work for you. Then all you have to do is install it using pacman -U, and then restart the panel using these 2 commands in alt+f2 run program:
    killall xfce4-panel
    then:
    xfce4-panel &
    Try changing everything that says xfce 4.6.1 to 4.6.2 because xfce4-session is 4.6.2 . Or maybe change it to 4.6.4 which is the version of the panel. I don't know what to do about the md5sum error. Delete the line maybe? If you are sure it downloaded correctly. Hope that helps.

  • How to make a transparent object fully opaque while keeping the same color appearance?

    I will greatly appreciate your help.

    Flatten transparency on a copy and take the color with the eyedropper? Any better way?

  • How can I make a window transparent but keep its objects opaque in Cocoa-Applescript?

    How can I do this in Cocoa-Applescript, Xcode? As well, is it possible to blur the area behind where the transparent window is?

    You can set the window transparency with something like:
    theWindow's setBackgroundColor:(current application's NSColor's clearColor)
    theWindow's setOpaque:false
    I haven't seen a way using public APIs to blur behind the window, but I'm not sure about using ASObjC with stuff like Core Image, anyway.
    You might also try something like setting the background to a gray color and play with the grayscale and alpha values (colorWithCalibratedWhite:0.0 alpha:0.2, for example).

  • Transparent objects cause fuzziness in PDF's from Pages

    Hi, having trouble with objects that have some transparency. When going to PDF's, or even to PS files and then PDF's, the objects cause anything near and under them to become fuzzy. Has anyone a fix or workaround to this, other than not using objects with transparency? Thanks in advance - Tim L.

    Some additional input... it seems it's not the transparency, but drop shadows that are causing this. It may be the combination of drop shadows on graphics that also have transparency. In any case, turning off the drop shadows makes the PDFx output look OK and not have adjacent text fuzzy. The graphics look better with drop shadows - but the drop shadows cause other problems with transparent graphics and adjacent text. Solution - don't use drop shadows in this case.

  • Animation Tweening is producing a transparent to opaque transition

    I have two frames with the start and end of my animation. My two layers contain a transparent background and an opaque object. When I choose the tweening option and add my specified number of frames, then test the animation, the start of the animation is 0% opaque and slowly becomes 100% at the end.
    My two layers used for start and finish are opaque. I have all the checkboxes checked by default for the tweening, and I can't figure why I'm getting a fade-in effect for my animation.
    What am I missing here?
    David

    Solved it. I found a great YouTube video tutorial about this. He showed that I needed to DUPLICATE my first frame with only one layer of content in the file, not having a separate layers of content to tween between two existing frames.
    Now I understand what was going wrong. My tweening was only working on one layer, and it was going from nothing to opaque.
    Here's the video link if it will help others.

  • Help Menu Search Bar Transparency Not Opaque With Increase Contrast Option

    Hi,
    I am running OS X 10.10 and I've turned on the Reduce Transparency and the Increase Contrast options.
    I've noticed, however, that with the Increase Contrast On the background of the search bar in the Help menu is transparent again and with black text (making it even harder to read then normal). If I have only the Reduce Transparency on then it is opaque as expected. It's with both Reduce Transparency and Increase Contrast on that causes this behavior.
    Is this a bug that anyone else has experienced or is it just me? Any ideas how to fix this annoyance (other than turning off Increase Contrast)?
    Thanks

    I'm having the same problem here. Not really sure why it's not working, but checking the "synchronize with google" box seems to do nothing.

  • CS5 turn off object selection "target"?

    Does anyone know if it's possible to toggle off the object selection target (the thing that looks like a focus ring from an older film lens) that appears as a default within the image box? I can't tell you the number of times I've meant to move an entire image box and accidentally shifted the image within the bounding box instead. It's a-makin me craaazy!

    Nobody needs it - I'm clueless to why it was ever introduced?
    I turned it off too - but I have to admit I would use it if the target was smaller. With the content grabber on there is too much chance of accidently moving an image within the frame.

  • Why does my .jpg have a transparent object when placed in Indesign?

    I have an product image .jpg that I am trying to place into InDesign, and when I place it, a part of that image becomes transparent. Have messed around with this for several hours now, checked color settings, tried saving it as different types, and for some reason it still keeps coming up with part of it being transparent. At my wit's end, could really use some help on this. Am using cs6 InDesign as well. Thanks

    Considering the JPEG format doesn't support true transparency, I'd say it must have a clipping path installed. To find out, with the placed image selected, choose Object > Clipping Path... If "Convert clipping path to frame..." is enabled, (not grayed out) on the flyout menu, there's an active clipping path in the image. Do you have Photoshop?

  • Toolbar area on laptop is transparent, not opaque like desktop. How fix?

    On my desktop, the Firefox toolbar area is an opaque beige color, making the text and icons in the toolbars easy to see and read. I installed Firefox on my laptop, and used Sync, and set the same toolbars. But on the laptop the toolbars are transparent; the desktop shows through and makes them hard to read.
    How can I make the area surrounding the viewing area opaque?
