Turns off by itself, don't think it is bad mb?!?

Hi All.
I bought this mac at a garage sale about 2 years ago for $150 and it has been working great.
Lately it has been turning off by itself.
It is not hot.
I did some research and people were saying that the capacitors on the motherboard and the powersupply are known to go bad on this computer.
When I tried to find a serial number on this computer there was not one, leading me to believe that the mb was probably replaced by Apple or someone at some time.

2 weeks ago it totally would not turn on so I took the back off, looked at the mb and the capacitors all looked good (to me anyway) then I took out the powersupply, opened that expecting something in there to be all gooey or swollen and everything looked good there too!
I went back to the internet and found a troubleshooting flowchart type thing on Apples site, and it gave me the idea of checking the little power button on the mb.
The computer started right up no problem.
I also looked at the troubleshooting lights on the mb and those were all lit like they were supposed to be.
I put the computer back together and everything has worked fine for the last two weeks.
Just now it turned off again.
I turned it back on, got the apple chime, then it turned off.
I did it 2 more times, now it is back on. Not sure how long it is going to last.
The computer in question is not the one listed below, it is my daughters g5. thanks!
Does anyone know any other things I can try?

Apple doesn't publish the meaning of these codes, but the -122, although it could still mean the Logic Board, is probably related to the power supply. But don't hold me to it. The power supply costs around $125, so it's not a terrible gamble to try a new one. The Logic Board is much more expensive. But you might find someone who's willing to replace any bad caps they find for quite a bit less. I've seen these.

Try this. Hold the operate button and switch on button for atleast 3mints until it get on. Sure it will work out.
This will happen bcz if any application got struck/freeze.

You should be able to restore the iPhone, just connect it to the computer and open iTunes.
Make sure you have the latest version of iTunes installed and take a look at this, if you run in to a problem.

My wife has the exact same phone and I have the razr HD (basically the same, just larger screen etc).
We have run into the same thing a few times, and as stated above by Callie I have found it is a dead battery issue. BUT unlike my previous phone (Droid incredible) that I could usually plug in, wait a few minutes, then at least turn on and use while plugged in, I have found for the M and mine it really took a bit to get it charged. Kind of like as long as there is some battery you are ok, but once it dies it takes a bit of charging.
ALSO - I am going to perhaps not use the right terms or words for this, but I THINK (emphasize think) at least once it wasn't enough to use one of the lower amp chargers. at least on mine. tried to charge and charge and didn't seem to work. Finally I took a charger that I normally need to use for my daughters tablet and use that then it had enough kick. I will note I think that was the issue.
regardless each time yes it took awhile before we could turn them on. ALSO it seemed like it took a much longer time in holding the power button down. BUT eventually they started up and we were good to go.
we love our phones, she especially loves the size of the M. BUT we have learned in the short 2-3 months we have had them, if possible, don't let the thing drain all the way. just seems to cause a bit of a hastle

Satellite A110-160 turns off by itself when im making a dvd to divx conversion

My Toshiba A110-160 turns off by itself(abruptly) when im making a dvd to divx conversion(autogk for example).
This didnt happen before..
I am using an updated bios v1.7(the latest).
Do you think it is because of that?? I have also made a memory upgrade(2GB,667mhz) and I am using windows xp and ubuntu.

I don´t have any clue why the machine shuts itself off and I cannot give you a quick solution but I can give you a thought how to make some accurate troubleshooting:
Remove the newly installed module and try it again. Then give some feedback if it worked. If not we have to discuss further on that issue, would appreciate some feedback from you.

I'm sorry your phone won't turn on jessesealey! I'm sure this is beyond frustrating. Do you know what function was used just before powering off? (text, email, internet, etc.) Has the phone been dropped or wet at all? Even steam/mist? I know a Hard Reset is an inconvenience, so you can try charging for 3-4 hours and try powering back on. Iphone 5 turns off by itself

I have an iphone 5, 5 months old. I bought it at Frankfurt airport, I get the message that there is no sign and then the phone turns off by itself, sometimes I don´t notice is off until hours later. What can I do? Where should I apply for the guarantee? There is also another problem. I bought the phone at the aiport because I live in Ukraine and there are not authorized resellers in this country. Althought, all carriers provide services for iphone. This is my third iphone and I never had this problem before.

I suggest you complete erase it, back it up, and start fresh. If the problem persists, contact Apple because your Iphone is defective and it needs replacement.

HT1430 My iPad this morning decided to turn off by itself!!!

My iPad this morning decided to turn off by itself, i was in the itunes store buying a movie and it went black for 1-2 seconds and went onto the home screen and then the apple logo appeared and rebooted itself i didnt even have to turn it back on it just came back on by its self?? why did this happen and is there something wrong with my ipad?? HELP!!!!!!!!! I decided to turn it off and leave it turned off for the rest of the day is this a good idea because i have allready done it!!

All software has bugs in it, and it's possible that a bug caused an abend and your iPad to reboot. If it becomes a regular occurence then you could try restoring to your last backup or back to factory defaults and resync your content (but make sure that you copy anything important off first if you do reset back to factory defaults).

You have the MacBookPro6,2, the Edsel of Macs. You might be able to resolve the problem by reinstalling OS X. Try that first, if you haven't done so already. Otherwise, you may be covered by this program:
MacBook Pro (15-inch, Mid 2010): Intermittent black screen or loss of video
Make a "Genius" appointment at an Apple Store to have the machine tested. The routine hardware diagnostics used by service providers may not detect the fault. There is a specific test for this issue.
Print the first page of the panic report, and the support page linked above, and bring them with you.
Back up all data on the internal drive(s) before you hand over your computer to anyone. If privacy is a concern, erase the data partition(s) with the option to write zeros* (do this only if you have at least two complete, independent backups, and you know how to restore to an empty drive from any of them.) Don’t erase the recovery partition, if present.
*An SSD doesn't need to be zeroed.
You may be able to stop the panics by disabling automatic graphics switching in the Energy Saver preference pane, but that's not a solution.
Most likely, the logic board will be replaced. Sometimes the replacement is also defective, so be prepared for that possibility.

Mac pro HDMI video preview goes yellow solid and turns off by itself often

I work with 2 monitors. main monitor is Apple thunderbolt cinema display 27", and second monitor is LG HD tv connected through HDMI of MacPro.
when I use aftereffect, I use my LG TV as video preview, and it goes yellow solid and turns off itself very often.
I use Final Cut Pro X and, davinci 10 lite with LG TV also, but it works well in these condition.
It makes trouble with aftereffects only.
I hope it can be solved.

English is not my first language. so I'm not sure I fully understand with this.
I will show you my full hardware setting
* Does preview on the LG monitor work at all? When does it go yellow? When does it turn off?
- it works initially. A few minutes after I start making RAM preview, yellow screen appear(the RAM preview keeps going anyway),
if I stop the video preview(command + /), and restart video preview, it turns on normal,
but if I don't stop video preview, 10 or 20 seconds later it turns off by itself, and all the options in 'Output Device' disappear except 'Computer Monitor Only', so I should restart After Effects to turn on video preview.
* When you have the problem, if you open Activity Monitor, is Adobe QT32 Server running?
- yes, it(it appears red characters, is it normal?) looks running
* Do you have Premiere Pro installed? Does it have the same problem when previewing to the LG monitor?
- no, Premiere Pro works well.
- I tried to remove Blackmagic Codec.component , but it didn't solve my problem

If I leave my iMac on for more than a day, it turns off by itself! After you turn it back on, the date always says it's December 31, 1969 and the time is always many hours ahead, even when it's set to use a network time server. Is there anything I can do about this?

It sounds as if your CMOS backup battery has failed. I don't know if there's anything you can do except arrange to send the unit back to Apple for repair, but you may get a much better answer if you repost the question in the proper forum: this one is for the new Intel based iMacs.

IPad turns off by itself.

My New iPad turns off by itself after I lock it when my iPad is at 50% battery life or lower. I've already done a restore and this problem is still here. Any tips?

If it does need a repair, someone at a repair center would be able to test it and figure out what the problem is. I suggest you look for an Apple Authorized Repair Center. There may be one in your city. <Apple Authorized Repair Centers> <Another Option - For Country, choose “Show Complete Country List”>
