Yes you can. Take it to an Apple store and they will replace the battery. If it is in warranty there is no charge. If it is out of warranty they will charge $79. But best of all they will test the battery first, and if the battery is OK they will help diagnose the software problem.
Here I am, corrected again
Thanks, Larry, for letting me know.

Hi! My iPhone 4S was turned off when the battery got empty, and when I put it on the charger it didn't charge at all. I tried restarting it (on/off home button for 10 sec) nothing happened except it kept giving me the "charge battery"  on its screen. I tried with different chargers, still dead! What's weirder is that my sister who has iPhone 4 experienced the same today! No we don't live in the same house!! Does anyone have the same problem?

On belhalf of my fellow volunteers, the answer is, "We'll try our best."
My advice is to try not to treat this like it is a paid service provided by compensated professionals.  Ask nicely and one of the nice folks here might take some time out of their weekend to offer advice.

  • Why does my iPhone 3GS turn off when the battery charge is only as low as 70%?

After my iPhone 3Gs has been fully charged, whenever that charge drops to the 50% to 70% range, the phone turns off.  When I try to turn it on again, the Apple icon appears the first few times, followed only by a blank screen each time -- the home button does nothing.  Beyond those times, when I try to awaken it, I can see a faint design that includes a plug, a red battery and suggests it is out of charge.  This also happens if I depress the awake and home buttons concurrently.

Let me know if I should start a new discussion instead of opening a new topic here.
My wife's iPhone is the same vintage as mine 3Gs, but has never had the battery problem.  Its affliction instead is that it cannot detect WiFi networks unless it is quite close to the source.  Often, when my iPhone not only detects but shows a maximum cells connection with a network, hers cannot detect the network at all.  In contrast, her iPhone seems to detect ourcellular carrier just as well as mine does.
Is there any help for this affliction?

  • IPhone 4s turn off whenever the battery reached 20%

I really sad about my 4s. I bought it 22 days ago and the battery is okay. But now, when it comes to 20% of the battery percentage, it will turn off the phone. When I charged it, it will continue to 21%, 22% - 100% .. I try to restore and everything that I could; nothing is changed.

Let me know if I should start a new discussion instead of opening a new topic here.

  • Does the battery charging in the macbook pro retina automatically cut off when the battery is fully charged?

Does the battery charging in the macbook pro retina automatically cut off when the battery is fully charged? or does it continue charging? In which case,is it better for the battery life to switch off the power supply or leave it on while using the macbook?

Yes, and the pilot light on the MagSafe2 connector changes from orange to green. If you unplug, you will start draining the battery again, whereas if plugged the Mac will take power from the brick and leave the battery in a charged state.

  • How do I make my iPad turn off when the screen is covered?

My old iPad would turn off when I closed the cover but I cannot find how to make the iPad air turnoff in a similar fashion?

Yes it is a proper cover
If it is an APPLE COVER, perhaps it's not the one for that model. But, if it's not an Apple cover, then maybe the manufacturer hasn't set up the magnets the way they are supposed to be.
I'm going to quote from another post elsewhere ...
Are you using a genuine Apple cover or another third party cover?
It's the magnets in the cover which activate the lock/unlock feature to appear in your settings. In earlier iPads you could slide a magnet down the side of the iPad to find where the magnet activates and turn the feature on.....Apple have now changed how this works with the iPad Air. Whereas before there was only 1 magnet positioned in the cover for earlier iPads, it is now thought there are 2 with alternating polarity.
So if you want this feature you will need to buy an Apple cover or wait for third party manufacturers to get their magnets in the correct position.
If you do have a genuine Apple cover then there is something going wrong here....

  • Water Damage - Phone wouldn't turn off untill the battery died?

Hello, I'm looking for advice about the water damage my phone suffered today after a swim with it. I checked the flaps were closed, but one was apparently wedged ever so slightly open by a rogue broken peice of plastic, apparently not from the phone. In any case water got in, and the phone started to shoot randomly from one task to another, calling one of my friends at one point, and it began to over heat, so I panicked and dried it as quickly as possible, and put it away.  When I came to use the phone not too much later, I noticed the screen was especially dim and the phone was still warm-ish. I tried to perform tasks with the phone but for some reason the camera kept opening and making a start-up noise, pretty much any time I tried to type or to open another app.  Later on it got to the point where if I pressed the power button to lock the phone, the camera would open. I couldn't turn it off, anytime or way I tried, it just went straight to the camera. I tried resetting the phone by holding the power button and the volume up button, and it did restart, but the problem persisted.  The last stage was a refusal to be on anything but the camera. I touched the home screen button, it would go to the homescreen button for a second or so, then go back to the camera. All the while it was getting hot again, so I kept it as cool as I could. All I could do was wait for the battery to run out and hope that it wouldn't expload...  I haven't tried charging it or turning it on again as I figured if there is water in it then it would be best to leave it off, so I'm hoping that the damage isn't too severe.  I didn't get insurance for it as I never thought I would damage it, and up until now I haven't, no cracks, no spills or anything, but this is clearly my fault, so I was only wondering if there was anything I could do to repair it without having to pay off the rest of my contract or pay for a repair or something. Thanks for reading and for any help you can provide.Kristian

I'm sorry to hear that but you have to get your phone inspected by your local Xperia Care http://support.sonymobile.com/global-en/contactUs/

My Ipod touch has not turned off for some time.  I reset it.  Now, as well, the battery which is charged to 100% and finished with a trickle charge is discharging completely overnight when not in use.  Help please, I use this all the time
