Turquoise Clip Names and Thumbnails

A few of my clips are now showing turquoise names and thumbnails thus:
Everything about them seems to function normally, but I've obviously done something to them - any clues as to what? TIA!

I think in the browser you marked with a color.
Find the riginal clip in your browser.
Is it also Turquoise?
Select the clip. Right click (Control click). Goto Label > None.
Done.

Oh, and this IS a feature. It can help you to find clips in your sequence.
e.g. I always use it for DV clips in an uncompressed sequence for instance. The color helps me find them easily, to check all the DV material has the shift field filter applied...

  • Raw video clips flash and thumbnails never load in the Ingest window when I try to transcode.

I am having a recurring issue of not being able to ingest video clips from an external hard drive in order to transcode them in Prelude. When I access the files in the ingest browser window, they all flicker continuously and the thumbnails never load. It is preventing me from being able to check any individual boxes to transcode. Help?!

  • Sequence and clip name keeps changing... Why ? Solutions ?

The sequence and clip name on a particular project keeps changing. It usually takes the name of of an audio file. Deleting the preferences, opening the timeline in a new project, making it offline and reconnecting it again, et. all doesn't help ? What is causing this ? HELP

Anyone has a solution for this....

I made the sequence off line and save it as a new project. Then deleted the preferences and opened the project..... reconnected the media. Most of the clips showed the correct clip name and the sequence name also didn't change. But a few audio tracks still had the old problem....

  • Log an Transfer P2 User Clip names

We have a problem, all this times we have wanted the user clip name meta data, but now we finally have it FCP 7 has automatically combined it with the clip name!
surly it would have been better to have the User Clip name in its own meta data column like P2cms or HDlog?? then we could custom how we want to name I with the fab new custom naming tool.
It there any way to get FCP 7 not to combine the user clip name and clip name together?
this problem is huge to my workflow that cannot for this project be changed.

It is a bit silly. We actually do want the original name at the tail, just not the UserClipName ( if that metadata exists ) automatically bolted onto the front.
We make containing folders for each P2CMS offload folder ( done in the field ), which could be 1 or more P2 cards merged. With FCP7 it's easy to make a unique name for each Quicktime by combining this folder name ( like a reel name ) with the original P2 name. Makes it very easy if you want to conform anything or go back to original P2 for whatever reason.
With FCP 7.0.1's new "bonus" feature we just have to use P2CMS to strip off any UserClipName metadata before Log and Transfer.
P2 Flow is very cool. I'd seriously love it if they could figure out how to use the mxf files natively in FCP for your offline edit and then give you the ability to conform a picture lock to self contained Quicktimes using L and T's batch capture feature. Seems L and T won't recognise the native mxf's as tapeless files that it can re-capture.
This would allow super quick and easy offlines but the ability to create Quicktimes for sending out to a finishing house for grading or online.

How to show rating dots and file name underneath thumbnail in Bridge CS4 preview workspace?

Thank you! That was it. The option to change it is not available in preferences (though I believe it was in early CS versions). It's hidden in a dropdown menu associated with an icon at the top. It sure wasn't easy to find, and I probably would not have done so without your lead. Thanks again!

  • How do remap drive names and not lose project clip links to Event names...?

how do remap drive names and not lose project clip links to Event names...?

You will need an extra external drive. All moves must be done within iMovie to preserve your links to the projects.
First Move (command-drag) the event to the extra drive. Make sure the project still works.
Then rename, reformat, or repartition your drive as needed. Then, if you want, move the Event back to the newly named drive, again via Command-Drag within iMovie.

Download iPhoto Library Manager and use its rebuild function. This will create a new library based on data in the albumdata.xml file. Not everything will be brought over - no slideshows, books or calendars, for instance - but it should get all your albums and keywords back.
Because this process creates an entirely new library and leaves your old one untouched, it is non-destructive, and if you're not happy with the results you can simply return to your old one.

  • Clip Label and Name not automatically updating in the timeline

I just finished a major project, so now it's time to take the plunge and upgrade Premiere. So far, it's going well, but clip labels and names aren't automatically updating in the timeline when I change them in the bin. Is that something that only works on new projects (rather than old projects updated in this new version)? Or...?

Go to the menu File > Project Settings > General and when the Project Pane opens, check the box for "Display the project items name and label color for all instances"

  • Time Code and original Clip Name

I was wondering if there is a way to render your footage out of Color keeping original Time Code and clip name?
The reason I ask is because if someone were to create an edit and it may or may not be from FCP, then they give me an EDL (EDL 01) with no speed ramps or transitions etc.. and they also export an EDL (EDL 02) with all of the effects they had within the edit. I take the EDL 1 and color it. Render everything out. And then the online editor reconnects everything to the EDL 02....
Also I am not sure where you can even view time code while looking at your media in your timeline?
Any help would be greatly appreciated!
    Cheers,
    Jesse

    Sorry, TC does carry through.
I guess my only question is then, how do you keep your original Clip Name when you render??

  • Create previews of video clips with multiple thumbnail and export in html?

    Hi all!
I am trying to make a list of the videos that i have shot with my digital camera....my 1Tb is almost full, so you can understand that is not that easy as looking into a folder with the big thumbnails
this is the expectation: to find an app that can
-create a preview of each video (qt, mov, m4v, wmv, avi, rm, etc)
-create few frames that shows the content of the video
-export the list of movies as web page, with the title of the video and the snapshot for each of them
Do you know if there is any way to achieve this result, without making manually everything?
I've found a software on pc, that i can use with parallels, but it takes just 1 shot of the video, and not multiple, with the result that is hard to get what is in the video, especially when the video is 10-15 min long, and the name doesn't help to recall what was happening in that video
Is there a way to achieve these results with just the apps available on the OS or is there an external sofware to do that?
    thanks!

    This is how i resolved:
I use a software called screen grabber, that reads video files and makes a sheet with previews
then i use thumbsplus on parallels to load these sheets and create an html page with the sheets and thumbnails.
Takes some time, is kinda cumbersome, but this gives me nice html pages with previews taht ar clickable (so you can see the full size sheet with the video preview).
Maybe someone else will stumble on the same problem that i had and find something better than my solution

  • Where is clip name? and Funny date change

I am importing existing Quicktime and Mpeg4 files into Imovie 09. Where do I find the clip name (I saved these files with a short descriptive name)? and these clips are coming in with the year "1903" as their date. Thoughts?

    Hi
You will only see this option if you have "Fast User Switching" turned on in System Preferences.
    Go to System Prefs
    Go to Accounts
    Select Login Options
Enable "Select Fast user switching" , you can now view as name , icon or short name .

  • Display metadata instead of clip name on the clips in the timeline and in the source monitor

Is there a way to display metadata instead of clip name on the clips in the timeline and in the source monitor? Clip names are usually set by the camera and are of no use to me. What i would like the clip and the source monitor to display is the name of the shot from the metadata. That's,in my opinion, a very useful info when you're editing a film.  If that feature doesn't exist, is there a way to batch rename clips based on metadata?

    thanks
is that new or was that always there. Not to sure if I have tried that in the past
anyway it helped and will makes things much faster
one other question maybe you have an answer to that too. it seems both Audio tracks are independ when putting on keyframes is there a way when using keyframes in the time line that it affect both channels of audio for example a1 an a2
once again thanks for your help

  • Limits on clip name lengths on log and import?

    Hi,
I just arrived back from vacation where I had shot quite a number of AVCHD files on my Sony HDR-SR12E (all in the same quality and resolution), plugged in the camera to my Mac, launched FCE, started the Log and Import and proceeded to name each of the clips in the queue something that I could use to easily identify them.
I came back after letting the queue import for a while and noticed that some of the clips were failing to import and hovering the cursor over the queue status flag simply popped up with 'Error: Unknown'.
I repeated the import on some of the small filler clips and it seemed to fail right at the end.
I then removed the clips from the queue, shortened the name and added them to the queue and so far they all seem to be importing correctly.
I didn't have any punctuation characters in the name, sure some had a few spaces but no more than any of the others.
Does anyone know of any naming limitations when importing like this..?
    Regards,
    -Andy

I didn't have any punctuation characters in the name, sure some had a few spaces but no more >than any of the others.
When naming files as you mention punctuation characters are best avoided.
Also parentheses, brackets, quotation marks and operators.
Spaces can cause trouble and the underscore (_) is a better option than a space.
I suspect one of the above characters to be at the bottom of your file naming drama.

  • Merge clips and preserve audio clip names?

    Hey Guys,
I'm about to start editing a new project of mine that I just shot.  I used Premiere to edit my last project and loved it, save one problem I had after using the "Merge Clips" feature to sync my audio.  In order to save time, I used Merge Clips to sync my picture and sound rather than do it manually.  The feature worked really well, but I didn't notice until it came time to export my OMF that the "Merge Clips" feature had renamed all of my audio clips to the same name as the video clip it was sunc to.  This resulted in many broken links in the OMF.
Is there any way to use "Merge Clips" or a feature similar to it, that preserves the names and metadata of the master clips you're syncing?  I might just do it all by hand to be safe.
    Thanks,
    Joe

I do believe we've uncovered (yet another) bug. For the life of me, I couldn't get a video to sync to its respective WAV. The audio from both sources was clean and clear; if Premiere couldn't auto sync this, it couldn't sync anything...
Then the funny part: it could sync everything else together perfectly (DSLR, GoPro, HDV). I must admit I was impressed, GoPros record fairly horrible audio- but Premiere managed to sync them  accurately and quickly with the other cameras. It just treated the external audio as foreign and refused it.
Can someone from Adobe chime in? I'm here for questions.
