Hi there Waleed (or anybody who can help
My name is Charis
If you have time I would like a little help....
I have been following your tutorial "Building Advanced Search" Tutorial
It is great, Just what I am looking for ........ but I can't get it to work properly (work at all)
I am pretty good at Dreamweaver I can setup the rest of my site ok I can create databases insert and display data no problem
I can follow your tutorial steps 1,2 and 3 ok but I get lost in part 4 "building results page" It is all a bit over my head but I have been trying
I am having trouble creating the recordset, I can create simple recordsets no problem but I have never had to cut and paste anything so......
In yoututorial "step2 Copy and past into SQL Query"
I am assuming you mean paste into the 3rd text field on the recordset dialoge box, below the "name' and 'connection' fields
I can copy and paste the code into that field no problem
I am guessing that I have to test it and then the variable fields would be automatically populated.... but no....
I follow your diagrams and create the variables 'KTColParam1' and 'KTColParam2' and configure as shown in your diagrams (screenshots)
But in you next diagram there are KTCColParam1,2,3,4,5 and six and I not sure how to configure them?
And that is as far as I can get
Am I missing somthing? AM I doing somthing wrong?
Could you please give me a little help to sort this out? or update the tutorial with a little more detalail would be great
My email is [email protected]
This is the exact thing I need to get my site up and running so any help would be great

Designing A Search Engine Friendly Website
There are many factors that hinder search engines from ranking Websites for many keywords. When web development companies create Websites, often they do not create Websites for the search engines. Usually, they design sites strictly for Internet users.

...or will the meta tags (description, keywords, etc.) placed in
the index.html file be sufficient to gain substantial rank?
I would say that depends on your Market and your choice of
Keywords. If your market is saturated then it's gonna be a tough
one. If you know the Keywords people use to Search for products in
your Market... I would say that's as good as it can/will get.
You can always Submit your site to the Search Engines in
    hopes of being ranked high.
If it seems worth it... you can always go the Pay per Click
    route.

  • Tutorial for Building Mobile Web Applications Using ADF/BC4J-problem

    This is the tutorial for:
Develop a offline, Web-based Disconnected Mobile application
Trying to create an offline mobile application using jdeveloper & oracle lite. I want to be able to update the home database after using the application in a disconnected fashion. I do not have a web site, nor is that a feasible option.
Jdeveloper 10.1.3.4 which should be OK as it is higher than the release specified in the tutorial.
    webtogo
    oraclie lite 10
    oracle 10.
I have tried to follow the tutorial completely and I can not get this to connect from webtogo. It runs fine in the jdeveloper usising the container. I created the war file, did the wtg packaging process, opened the mobile manager and published the application & granted access to user 'john'. The samples provided work fine. The new application appears on the webscreen after installing web 0c4j. When I click on it, the address toolbar shows:
    http://localhost/webtogo/bc4jtutorial/faces/CustomerOrders.jsp
When it installed mobile client, it installed the CustomerOrders.jsp into:
    E:\mobileclient\mobile_client_oc4j\j2ee\mobileclient\applications\mobileclient\bc4jtutorial
an example of the samples that work shows
    http://localhost/webtogo/sample6/list
    in the browser address line.
    Which looks like it's really
    E:\mobileclient\mobile_client_oc4j\j2ee\mobileclient\applications\mobileclient\samples\sample6
    on the file system
Any one have any ideas? I'll take another solution if someone has found one. However, i am not a great java programmer so thought jdeveloper was great to create forms and access the database.

    Hi,
selecting a session bean, this option shows for me in 11.1.2. Make sure that - by accident - you don't select the local or remote interface class

  • How to build advanced search with drop down menu (ASP)

    Hi,
I'm using CS4 with ASP / SQL. I have a search page which contains only 2 fields; one is user input (search term), the other is a drop down menu to define which column they want to search on. How can I define the SQL statement - or can I only choose to search on values in the table, rather than on columns?
    thanks

    DineshS wrote:
Which dropdown menu you want to customized ?The specific menu we would like to customize is the 'Action' menu on the Person form that usually contains 'Create Employment' and so on. We have a specific recruiter responsibility that we would like to limit to 'Create Applicant'. I have been unable to come up with a combination of steps in personalizations that sets that value in the dropdown and allows it then be unchangeable. If you have any suggestions, please let me know. I would prefer not to create a custom form but without personalizations, I might have to.

  • Tutorial Announcement .:: Building Auto Archived Articles System ::.

    Hello everyone...
Today in this tutorial we will learn how to Query database with Dreamweaver CS3 advanced Recordset Filter, Retrieving all posted articles from database depending on the day when it posted on the "Startdate_arc", or hide all articles if the end date comes "Enddate_arc".
Also you can post new articles today and publish it next week, next month, next year, in your website as you wish. by selecting a date when it published on, so it will be completely hidden from your website visitors untill the publish date comes, then they can read it, comment it etc...
Also you can define when this articles ends on, or expires on, all expired articles will be completely hidden from your website visitors when defined expiration date comes.
Note: Articles will not completely deleted from database, but it will remain archived as a reference untill you delete it permanently from database, Quering advanced recordset gives you many options to retreive custom data from your database.
Our application today will not be different from the "News system" i made before, the sequence of adding categories, posting new articles, building dynamic lists and building dynamic form is the same.
Also there is an advanced search engine attached within this application allowing visitors to search archived articles, by selecting the date when the articles posted on, and the date when it expires on, or they can choose a wide range of search by selecting period from time to time to search archived articles.
As i always accustomed in every tutorial i made, i make it`s own live example to proof my explination.

  • Tutorial Announcement .:: Searching News Using Keywords ::.

    hello friends
Today i made this new tutorial about searching database using "KEYWORDS", searching by keywords will give you the ability to search through many tables in your database, even in one or more fields in the same table.
when a searcher type a word, or even complete phrase, the results will be specified to this word or phrase.
For example if you searched about the word "News", and it mentioned in the news title and news content in tow records, these two records will appear in the search results.
Results,,, results will be something very advanced, amazing, you can say it`s 70% of MX SiteSearch options.
Also i included small script that will be very helpful showing the full details page URL dynamically, specially in the results page, this script automatically detecting the Host name, Site name, so it will be very easy to show the full path to the keyword results details page.
This tutorial will considered as a part of the "news_system" tutorial, and the search application will be included to the news system for more convenient for the reader...
    Requirements:
    - we will create 2 pages:
    1- search.php "the search form".
    2- results.php "the results page".
    - Note:
    * The search page will included with the entire news system script as an external file, don`t put anything else in this page except the search form, and it will included within the head section.

Masking? Rotsoscoping? I can think of a million ways to create separated layers or mattes and then duplicate the layer and invert the masks/ matte, but if you never have used that stuff before, you will hard-crash on concrete and not get very far, I'm afraid. It takes at least a bit of practice to produce a clean matte. As a palce to start you may get by suing the Rotobrush and see, if it produces clean enough edges, but if not, it's proably better to scrap the idea before eitehr ending up with a bad result or not meeting your deadline...

  • Problem with tutorial; "Build a Web Application with JDeveloper 11g Using "

I've got a rather new installation of Vista Business x64 on my developer rig, and last week I installed the new JDeveloper 11g version. The installation was all-inclusive, no customization on my end.
In addition I've got a test installation of an Oracle DB 11gR1 on an available server here.
To familiarize myself with the new JDeveloper I decided to spend some time with the JDeveloper 11g tutorials found here: http://www.oracle.com/technology/obe/obe11jdev/11/index.html.
I've started twice on the second tutorial, "Build a Web Application with JDeveloper 11g Using EJB, JPA, and JavaServer Faces", and find myself repeatedly stuck at step 19 in section "Creating the Data Model and Testing it".
It seems impossible to deploy the application to the default application server. The server starts fine on its own, I can access it via the admin console on port 7001 and it looks good. However, when I try to run the HRFacadeBean funny things are happening, symptomized by the following error messages seen in the IDE log-area:
    The "Messages" pane displays:

I'm not that familiar with these things but it seems to me that there is an issue with port numbers here. The application seems to expect a app.server service at port 7101, but does'nt find one.

    Jupp,
It fails in a similar way.
What I did was; create a simle 'Hello World' html file, saving it with the jsp extension. In Jdev11g i made a new application and an emtpy project, then loaded the jsp file and made it the default run-target. This compiles nicely.
When running the project it first attempts to start the WebLogicServer (WLS). After a few minutes it is started as seen in the "Running: DefaultServer" pane:

But, of course, the server is actually running as I can access it via its Admin Console.
So, I try to run the project again, and this time the following is shown in the "Messages" pane:
    Compiling...
    Context: MakeProjectAndDependenciesCommand application=TestAppJsp.jws project=TestProjJsp.jpr

    C:\Oracle\Middleware\user_projects\domains\base_domain\bin\startWebLogic.cmd
[waiting for the server to complete its initialization...]
[Server Instance DefaultServer is shutting down.  All applications currently running will be terminated and undeployed.]
    Process exited.
The WLS is still running though as I can still access its adm console.
To me it seems that it is attempting to start a separate instance of the WLS for each run attempt, but then I could be wrong.....:(
Later I'll try to change the default WLS port from 7001 to 7101 as suggested in another port here.
I must admit that I'm a bit surprised that the JDev11g doesn't work fine at this very simple level when performing a default install.

  • Apex Builder "Search Application" Bug?

    Hello there,
In 4.2, in the builder if you try to search 'left' or 'right' in the Search Application field you obtain the following error :
    ORA-20555: ORA-00904: "TEMPLATE_ID": invalid identifier (view: APEX_APPL_TEMP_PAGE_DP-PAGE_TMPL_DISPLAY_POINT_ID-20861575178559085430)
(You can reproduce it on apex.oracle.com).

  • How does 'Does not contains' work in advanced search?

I'm deploying a application based on JHeadsart and i am very enthusiastic about it! Thanks for the good work. I have a question about the 'Does not contains' search option in the advanced search/set by user mode.
It looks i have to use wildcards which is not necessary with the contains option.
    Example:
    In the JHeadstart demo tutorial.
I search on the lastname of employees with 'does not contain'.
If i use does not contain 'A' i get 107 records
If i use does not contain '%a%' i get 51 records
If i do not enter any criteria i get 107 records.
    Is this the intended behavior?
    Thanks,
    Ruben Spekle

    Ruben,
This is not intended behavior, you have found a bug!
It turns out that we do set the wildcard usage in case of "does not contain", but we only interpret this wildcard usage if the operator is "like" (and we should also do this when the operator is "not like").
We will fix it in the upcoming release. If you want to fix it before that, you should make a subclass of JhsApplicationModuleImpl and use that as the superclass of your application modules. In your Impl class, override advancedSearch(String, ArrayList, Boolean), and use instead of QueryAttribute your own subclass of QueryAttribute. In your subclass of QueryAttribute override getQueryValue to also apply the wildcardUsage when the operator is NOT LIKE.
Thank you for bringing this bug to our attention!
    kind regards,
    Sandra Muller

  • Advanced Search Interception

I've got an Advanced Search that I need to intercept and do some pre-processing of the
    search criteria before search executes.
I'd first like to add a input field to the Advanced Search UI that is not part of the
view object attached to the Advanced Search model. If the user submits search data in
this "new" field, I'd like to intercept that input data and use it to execute a query
programmatically against a different view object. The results of this query will then
"auto-populate" one of the other fields in the Advance Search model.
In my AppModuleImpl, I notice the following method in my JHS generated application:
public void advancedSearch(String viewObjectUsage, ArrayList arguments)
    super.advancedSearch(viewObjectUsage, arguments);
I know I can "intercept" the Advanced Search process at this point, have access to any
search input data from the user via the ArrayList of QueryArguments, and since this is in my
AppModule, I also have programmatic access to my other view object.
I have two things I don't understand how to do:
    (1) Add a "new" input field to the searchBean from my UIX Advanced Search page, so that I can
capture my "new" non-model search field.
    (2) Create and add a new QueryArgument programmatically and add it to the ArrayList before calling
the super.advancedSearch(..) method. Specifically, the QueryArgument constructor takes some args
that I'm not familiar with (since JHS I think typically does this behind the scenes). Once my
"new" query field is added to the searchBean (from (1) above), I can use this data to execute a
query against another view object programmatically, and the results from that query will feed a
a new QueryArgument that I'd want to programmatically build and add to the ArrayList.
Are there any examples or tutorials of how to do this?
    Thanks,
    Timothy

    Timothy,
The easiest way to do this, is to add a transient attrbute to the VO to get the additional input field in your search area. This attribute should have the queryable checkbox, but does not match a column in the underlying VO table.
When you generate your app, JHeadstart will then add a search field for this transient attribute, and it will create a QueryAttribute for it when you press Find button. Then, by overriding advancedSearch in your app module, you can get this QueryAttribute from the arraylist argument and do your preprocessing.

  • Enhancement reqest: Advanced Search form

I would like to request another form wizard like all the great ones already there. A Advanced Search form wizard.
Basically a form that asks for a bunch of query items like those found on any Advanced Search form and depending on which ones are non-blank, constructs a dynamic query and populates a SQL query region when the Search button is pressed.
    Thanks

From what I can tell from each of the examplesthere
is no option to specify any kind of compoundcriteria
syntax for a single field, as I pointed out in my
    earlier post, e.g. where id=1 or id=2 and type=6and
type=7. That kind of thing.Right, but (IMHO) your UI is approaching the problem
too "literally" i.e. too much in terms of the
underlying SQL. You are making the user literally
think in terms of a SQL SELECT statement.I agree to some extent - it clearly looks like a query builder - but the UI provides an abstraction layer so the user doesn't have to worry about typing the underlying syntax correctly.
And remember, this is a business application - not Google. In my experience users of business applications are pretty demanding when it comes to getting at their data. Not that I want to perpetuate bad designs on anyone. I just want to make sure the user has the tools they need. And they want field level searching.
    >
    P.S. I've already implemented a basic searchfunction
at the top of each report page that let's the user
enter a single value that will do an 'OR' againstall
the fields in the view. It's just that the userRight, thats the way most search functions work. You
type a keyword and the system does a full-text
case-insensitive search for that keyword across a
    pre-determined set of columns.
doesn't really have any control over which fieldsare
tested against the value.Another way to approach this would be to put up a
single search text field and list all the columns you
want to search across as checkboxes. User can select
the column(s) he wants the keyword to be searched
    in.
Your example of multiple predicates on the same
column is a little unusual, but
where id=6 or id=7Unusual, perhaps..., until you get a request from someone that wants to find all the equipment with serial numbers between XYZ123456 and XYZ2345678. ;>)
This can be implemented as a multi select list (or N
separate text fields) where user can select/enter
each value and you go and build the resulting SQL.I've thought of making the values select lists based on valid entries that exist in the table for a couple of cases where it might be appropriate - but I need to get basic function working first.

    Just some ideas...
ThanksThanks again for your thoughts. I have an example page on OTN that give the beginnings of my idea here: http://htmldb.oracle.com/pls/otn/f?p=36337:14 It's not fully functional yet but if you click the Search button it will throw the where clause in the text box at the bottom of the page. Let me know what you think if you get a chance.

  • APEX 4.2 Search Application does not work

Why is Search Application in APEX application builder disabled for me? I can type in the search field but the icon to run the search does nothing. This worked fine in 4.0. Tried IE and Firefox.

I don't see an icon to press unless you mean the magnifying glass that proceeds the field. I just type in the search field then press the Enter key and then the search is submitted.

  • How to add a new  search criteria in Advance Search Page in OAF

    HI,
In my application (R12) we can access customer related information from 2 places (2 different responsibilities as mentioned below), both are OAF pages.
    1. AX receivables
    2. Sales online
From both the responsibilities we can perform search for customer related information as well (Simple as well as Advance Search).
But Advance Search screen from 'Sales online' allows user to perform search, based on few additional fields as well such as 'Classification' (it's an lov based field).
Now, User is asking to add that field on search page of AX receivables as well.
So, how to add one more field (as search criteria), on an standard 'Customer' screen?
    Additional Info :
    1. LOV is based on HzPuiClassificationFilterVO
    2. And this VO is available on both pages. (oracle.apps.ar.hz.components.search.server.HzPuiClassificationFilterVO)
So can we achieve this by Personalization only ? if yes plz share the steps as well.
    Regards,
    Adi

Yes. It is possible through personalization.
    1. Create a criteria row under Advance Search
    2. Create a Result Item under advance table columns
    3. Create a Query Criteria Map based on the criteria and result item above.
Please note the newly added criteria field should be in the Searchresults VO attributes list.
Otherwise you need to extend the VO as well.
    Hope this helps.
    Regards,
    -Mukesh.
