Tutorial for a page curl?

Hi guys,
I'd like to design a nice page curl but I'm not quite sure how to treat my Fireworks tools for that;-(
I've already spotted this (on the first glance) nice tutorial here, but I didn't get it what the author means with "Click on your gradient tool [...]" after I deleted the selction!?! The thing ist, that I can't select the gradien tool while still using the polygon lasso tool;-(
So, has someone the nerves to explain me how I can do this oder has anothe cool link for such a tutorial?

Is there a page curl transition for iBooks Author?

Does anyone know why there isn't a page curl transition for books created in iBooks Author? There should also be a flipboard transition available as well.

It seems the Apple Pages app exports to the ePub format. This is what some may be looking for.

Peter I see you are humble, as my self. I don't see a way to easily fill all the individual cards on the templet. Pages '09 version 4.1 (923)
I first started using Business Card Templets with Microsoft Publisher back in 2000. Initially I filled out a business card and was given a choice to print 8 or 10 cards to a page. Since then I have been out of the loop due to illness, Pages '09 give me the choice to print 8 and 10 cards to a page but I'm missing the initial step. laughing about it but confused too

Get "401 Unauthorized" for secured pages when following the tutorial

I tried to configure security for a page in JDeveloper by following the steps in 10.1.3.2 WebCenter Framework Tutorial (http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E12529_01/webcenter.1013/b31072/tt_security.htm).
I copied the system-jazn-data.xml from the sample. Then followed the steps in the tutorial except that I don't have the Welcome page but only the secured Mypage.jspx which is protected as instructed in the tutorial. Then I ran Mypage.jspx. I was directed to the login page correctly. But after I entered the correct username/password for any user, it gave me "401 Unauthorized" error. I'm pretty sure the username/password is correct because it'll direct me back to the login page when they're wrong.
I tried it a few times but it always failed with the same error. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Pages v5.5.2 is the current revision, and a version specific help link is here. There is no tutorial, or manual available for the Pages v5 series. It was never designed to be a replacement for MS Publisher.
If you want to open MS Publisher documents on the Mac, consider the free LibreOffice Suite, whose word processing/layout features more closely rival or exceed MS Word than those found in Pages. LibreOffice Writer actually has a substantial manual written in LibreOffice Writer itself. Only Pages v5.5.2 can open its documents directly, without exports in other formats.

Page curl in Flash

Hi, am putting together an ezine for a client and he likes the page curl effect when exporting to swf file from indesign. I also need to place video in there too and the exported swf does not allow this. Is my only option to produce the whole thing in Flash? If so - can anyone tell me where I can get the script for creating the interactive page curl effect

Tutorial for managing bookmarks in iPhone environment?

I hate asking newbie questions but here goes. Searched for this but found threads regarding desktop environment.
When I open Safari on my iPhone 3CS, I see bookmarks imported from my pc when I synched. Don't need all those so deleted most. Here's the problem: if I type in a new address in Safari addres field at top, and go to that page, then do Add Bookmark, it doesn't show up the next time I open Safari and look at the bookmarks. If I start to re-type it in the address field, the full link and title appear below, so I know it's storing it somewhere.
Can someone just point me toward an online tutorial for manageing bookmarks within the iPhone environment not the desktop?

it's one of the dangers to BYOD.....The best way to manage this is education(unless you are ready for MDM).
Granted that can be a bigger pain in the buttocks than working around it.
What I tell people(having had this happen to me a couple of times) is when it's time to change your password
1.) Make sure you have all your devices with you
2.) disable the wireless on everything
3.) change password via your laptop
4.) enable one device, and go change the password there < rinse repeat for subsequent devices.
Now, when the company I was working for moved to a MDM, the issue went away on my phone and tablet, as the mail settings were controlled by the MDM, so when i changed my password, it pushed to my other devices.

How do I add a poster to a page curl/turn PDF in InDesign 2014?

I have created a two-page Christmas card for my company. I used the Adobe TV video to see how to create a SWF file with page curl to import into an InDesign file and keep page turn in a PDF.
The only problem is that I can't find how to use the first page of the card as a poster for the PDF; when receivers see the file at the moment, they get is the image below, a screen-filling image with a SWF icon in the corner with a button that says 'activate here' which looks ugly.
In the Adobe TV video which uses an older version of InDesign, it's easy to see how to set a page as the poster but in InDesign 2014, I can't see how it's done.

I strongly suggest you rethink any use of SWF. Most emails are opened on mobile devices today and that mean no flash.
Add to that many people don't even have it installed on desktops anymore.

How to create a PDF document with page curls using Adobe CS 4?

My goal is to create a PDF document with page curls. I am using Adobe CS 4.
1.      The document was created in Adobe InDesign CS 4 where the page turn (curl) transition was applied.
2.      Then the document was exported to .swf.
3.     The .swf file was imported into   Adobe Acrobat Pro to create a PDF file with flip page or page curl transitions.
These are the problems.
1.      The background is not transparent.
2.      Page dimensions have to be increased at least an inch in width and length so that the full page can show
3.      The command and+   will not only increases the document's screen size. It increases the page margins.

PDF was never designed to support the Flash page curl effect (it didn't exist back then). Anything you try (and you've tried the standard hack) will look like a hack. Personally, I don't think the effort is worth it for an effect that's much overused.

Adobe DPS - pop-up panels video tutorial for Indesign Digital Magazine problem?

Trying to get info in a video tutorial for pop-up panels tutorial for a Digital Magazine I'm working on.
Had advice to do a Multi-State Object - but this is exactly what I need it for and would love a video link i(f any is around).
Doing a digital Tech Magazine - have about 12 images on a page.
Want to touch one image and want a pop-up text box with Tech info on this product come up - I want all other images on page to ghost out on doing this - and then I need a button to click to close the panel down and go back to document and ready to click on another picture.
Is there a tutorial online on how to do this. Hope someone has a link pleaae.

Here's the best way to attack this as a beginner.
Create multipage InDesign file with number of pages being equal to the
number of states you want for your MSO.
On the first page design the base state. Copy/paste everything to the second
page and now design the second state.
On and on until you're done. Now group everything on each page and
copy/paste in place everything into one page. Create the MSO.
This is going to give you a pretty heavy file but will give you a good
foundation for the thought process needed to do this.

How do I get top of page curl (IDCS4 to SWF doc) to show when inserted into DW?

Is there a way to get the top & bottom of page curls to show on my web page the way they do in the html preview? (With a transparant efffect?) I've attached the SWf file, if that helps.

Hey, well thanks for responding.... but, if ANY other people who are novice web designers want to find out the answer to what, apparently, is a dumb question, a point in the right direction would be nice. Even if it was only a few people checking back to see if an answer was there, it means they want to know how - just as badly as I do.
So, anyways, if you want to know how to make a page curl show up in your DW site, the answer isn't within DW, but somewhere else, correct?

PDF with page curl effect

Hi,
I understand that Indesign can produce pdf with page curl effect. what if I only have a pdf file and i want to include the page curl effect? anybody knows what's the quickest way to do this? Is there any way to import multiple pdf pages into Indesign CS5 so that i can republish it from Indesign CS5? or is there any third party software that can do this easily?

You understand wrong -- the Page Curl is NOT available for exporting to PDF.

JDeveloper - problems with Tutorial for Java EE Developers

Hi,
I am trying to start learning Oracle J2EE technologies, and I am using the Oracle "Tutorial for Java EE Developers (10.1.3.1.0)" listed in the Oracle Application Server 10g (10.1.3) page: http://www.oracle.com/technology/tech/java/oc4j/1013/how_to/index.html.
I am having problems in chapter 2, at the creating EJB 3.0 Persistence Entities stage, when using the Create Entities from Tables Wizard. Basically, when I select all the tables from the SRDEMO schema and attempt to create the Java classes, only the first table objects are created - ExpertiseAreas.java and ExpertiseAreasPK.java. I do not get any error messages, so I am not sure why the other table objects are not created.
If I then use the Wizard to select tables individually, the objects are created. However, they appear to be missing some details - specifically the @OneToMany annotation.
Has anyone encountered this same issue, or are there any known issues with this tutorial.
I am using version 10.1.3.4 of JDeveloper, on a 10g (10.2) XE database. I installed the version of JDeveloper without JDK included. I have a Sun Java EE 5 SDK Udate 5 (JDK 6u7) install of JDK.
