Tutorial to create a basic rss reader for my site?

Can anyone point me to either a text or video tutorial, new to the whole iphone sdk business, trying to offer our readers an iphone rss application so they can get all of our stories right on one interface. Any direction would really help.

Hmm. My apologies. Not sure as to what you have all tried, but I am guessing you have done a bit of research, which is good.
I am not positive that there are really any excellent tutorials out there as of yet. Have you had a look at this one?

How to create a basic starting template for ICE-use?

I have a question regarding templates in combination with the new ICE-editor (InContext edit). Plese be aware of that the question is related to the new ICE-editor, not the old flash-based editor.

My customer needs to be able to create new editable sub pages. All subpages need to share the same template but with different text and img in the dark blue area. Under that area we have a 2-col layout who also needs to be changed from page to page. All is made editable using ICE tag for BC. When my customer creates a new page they need to have this basic layout set up so they can start editing in the ICE-editor without the hassle of copying HTML using the old WYSIWYG. The problem: If I apply the dark blue area and some lorem ipsum in a template they keep editing the template and not the page. Can a customer create a new page using my template but edit only the content on that page in ICE-mode?

Rss reader for systray

Started working on a little project. An rss reader that sits in the systray. Its pretty bare right now, but its downloading feeds and opens them in the browser when i click on them.

Fixed that bug, kind of, i'm not sure if it's the proper solution, but it seems to work. Relevant code:

Lambda expression inside a loop seems to overwrite itself during every iteration, like here:
l = []
for i in range(10):
l.append(id(lambda x: x*i))
print(l)
# OUT: [139721358186400, 139721358186400, 139721358186400, 139721358186400, 139721358186400, 139721358186400, 139721358186400, 139721358186400, 139721358186400, 139721358186400]
print(l.count(l[0]))
# OUT: 10
As you can see, id of the lambda expression is the same in every iteration, despite being a different function (i is different in each lambda), so when the for loop finishes, you'll end up with only one callable object, that every menu item executes on activation.
EDIT:
After a bit of screwing around, i found that this also works:
menuitem.link = i.link
menuitem.connect("activate", lambda x: webbrowser.open(x.link))
Instead of passing the arbitrary address to the lambda it just extracts link from the menu entry itself.

Photo RSS reader for PC's / AOL?

Can anyone suggest an RSS reader that will read photos from a photocast? My father uses AOL, but could work through IE if necessary.

TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
I've written an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. Mac RSS reader for iphone delivers incorrectly sorted posts

The web page http://reader.mac.com/ is supposed to deliver RSS feeds to my iPhone.
I create the XML feed by arranging a variety of posts for a given day. The posts are in a specific sequence, which is ignored by http://reader.mac.com/.
The Problem: The software at http://reader.mac.com/ is re-arranging the posts in a different order from the sequential order that I've imposed. It seems to be looking at the creation date of the post rather than the creation date of the feed.
This is a big problem for me. I can't trust that my feeds will look correct in the mac reader. Can I change the settings so that the posts are ordered correctly?

Cannot create title tag, meta tags for iWeb site, per Google requirements.

I created simple website in iWeb to meet art show deadline

but when I tried to submit to search engines (via GoDaddy "Traffic Blazer" product), several issues or errors noted...no title tag, meta tags, keywords, too little text, etc. Was told by Apple, there is no fix at this time...no way to access to actual HTML code, to add title tag or meta tags, etc...since iWeb is merely a consumer, not professional enterprise, product. Researching further, I even tried to submit to Google directly, not via GoDaddy "Traffic Blazer", but could not "verify" my url site (because meta tag missing and/or could not upload entire html file, as required. I'd produced client websites in past on Adobe GoLive and was learning Dreamweaver, when someone alerted me to simplicity of iWeb. It is clean and simple, but wish I'd anticipated these other issues. Is there a solution to this with iWeb or should I finish learning Dreamweaver and start over? Thanks for any advice you can share.

I could not open home.html file with "text edit", but when using Taco HTML Edit, it would open...so I dusted off (novice) HTML skills and entered the appropriate title tag and meta tag, per Google's requirements. Then, went to my GoDaddy hosting control center and (I think) I uploaded new file with new tags. Seems to be major lag time with any changes, so not sure my site is now successfully "verified", on Google. Hope I did not mess anything up, in the process. There seems to be various lag times before any changes take effect (right??).
So now...I'm very glad to find out about iMap and will buy it and watch the tutorial video, as instructed...since I am unsure if last 'fix'...fixed the problem, etc...and always eager to learn more. This is my first Apple discussion post, and certainly impressed/grateful for expert help. THX again.

I like to creat shortcuts on my desktop for daily site visits. I used to be able to select it from my mouse cursur but cannot do it now why?

If I will be visiting a site on regular basis when I used to hit the right part of my mouse where Back,Reload,Bookmark etc was shown there also was a "Create A Shortcut on Desktop" option. It is not there any longer and want to know how can I get that back?
I do NOT care for the Bookmark or Save feature.

My guess is that they recently changed how the videos work. I logged in on my MacBook and the stream worked fine, but it is Flash content in a JW Player video player. From what I see on the website. This video player works with html5 as well as Flash so I'm not sure why it isn't working, unless the site has not updated the content for html5 and is only using Flash right now. But you should get the message on the iPad that the content is in Flash and can't be viewed on the iPad.
I tried it with three different browsers identifying as mobile and as desktop browsers and I get the same results as you no matter what I do. So my assumption is that the site content was recently changed and it has to be updated. But that is just a guess.
The message about the website having issues when I used iCab Mobile and identified as a desktop browser. The issue has to be on their end.

Help creating search and results function for my site. Please help!

I'm making an eCommerce/PayPal website for some products I'm selling. The website is currently built with PHP and HTML.
I want to add a search box so people can search for what the specifically want - then the results page will display a list of the products with links to the products' individual pages.
From what I understand this will almost certainly need to be database driven. My only problem is that I barely know where to start.
I've created a database on my host and have created dummy pages of how I want everything to look.
Each product will need 3-5 search terms attached to them.
Can someone please tell me where to begin and how difficult what I want to achieve will be?

The solution is database-driven only if the information about your products is in a database.
There are two approaches for a mySQL database, using the LIKE query and using MATCH AGAINST. These are SQL, not PHP, but the search results are processed by PHP.
There are plenty of tutorials on the web for these two methods. I prefer MATCH AGAINST, but it is a little bit more involved than LIKE.

If so, there's a lot to consider beyond Photoshop treatments: an appropriate illustration, the type, etc. The tutorial "Creating a Retro Sci Fi Poster" covers all of that plus Photoshop effects. Beware that it's very detailed how-to!

Trying to create two login areas for one site

I'm currently creating two different login areas for the site. One for my client to update content and one as a media/press area for downloads. Both areas work fine but it seems I can only do one login area because even if I use a different Connection script, one login area overtakes the other and you
're stuck with one setup instead of two. How can I work this so each area has its' own separate login area?

Instead of having two login forms, have one login form and utilize the user level controls. You will need to go to the login settings page and set/use the Level field on the database tab and then configure the user levels on the user levels tab.
You simply route users to different subdirectories and then secure the files for those two user directories using different user level permissions.
This removes the needs to maintain multiple connection files.
That said, do your two different login forms have different names? Different ids? Different targets/actions?

Slim pdf reader for E-series phones (E61)

I tried to achieve this same goal some years ago, but had to stop because PDF files were usually bigger than available heap size on Java ME Virtual Machines.
My first try was to port iText (itextpdf.com) from Java SE to ME and then use it on my app.
This took longer than what I wanted so I gave up. :(
But then I created a simple txt reader (for UTF-8 encoding) and made it freely available at getjar.com/books (no ads).

Down the lane another role with restricted access to only certain cubes
What is the authorisation objects needed to be given in that role?

I was playing with auth objects like S_RS_COMP, S_RS_COMP1,S_RFC....but coudn't get much farther.

we evaluated ACE for two projects now and always found that customers are not very excited about administration of a)EP-roles b) CRM-roles and additonally c)ACE user groups which is furthermore a very new topic for all of us and therefore it seems there is little know-how existing. We are also not sure about the future of ACE if there are new development with BP-roles in 6.40? But for my personal opinion in the field of CRM and sensible data there is no way around ACE or something similar ...
Regarding performance we always had the felling that response time of PCUI-apps decreases when we activated ACE - maybe because there is some overhead with collecting ACE-data in different tables additionally to the other process of controllers and subcontrollers ... but this was only a personal experience, we never did any measurements which confirmed this "feeling".
