Hi all!
Can you recommend any good tutorials for using paths/vector art in Photoshop?
Honestly, I've had a good look for even one - without much success.
I Have lots of experience with paths/vector art in Illustrator, Fireworks and InDesign but I believe you really can do great things with them in Photoshop now for illustration work.
i'm just baffled by it. I can fill and stroke and edit a vector shape in PS - but if I custom DRAW a vector path or shape, things get confusing!
Hoping someone can point me in a helpful direction

I wouldn't claim to know everything there is to know, but I'm reasonably certain it hasn't changed.
Are the 'shapes' just vector masks with a raster element inside?
Yes. That's an accurate enough description.
And if you apply a colour to a path that you've drawn - does it rasterise?
It doesn't have to rasterize. If you see color, it's pixels.
I was definitely of the impression that a lot more could be done in PS these days that might formerly have been done in ILLUSTRATOR.
The shape/path tools in Photoshop have been enhanced and improved in recent years, but the product of their use still differs from Illustrator's true vector output.

If the FM is not released, then any "tutorial" you might find would only be as reliable as the FM itself (particularly it's interface).
Perhaps what you are looking for is FM [SSFT_PPPI_SIGN|Is it possible to use SNC and SSF together ?;?
Note that I have a development request open on this function, but I hope that the interface will remain stable and only the existing "auth_method" (cannot remember the exact name) will be enhanced within the FM coding to make it more configurable.
The reason for this relates to Single-Sign-On, in which case it is advisable to delete the ABAP password. But then the FM cannot work locally, and using the remote option is too confusing for the user as they cannot be expected to know where they are authenticating, as they innocently logged on (the opposite of what this method was intended to solve in the olden days).
What I am hoping for, is that SAP will provide a secure LDAP bind to verify the signature (or at least add a configurable custom method to add custom coding to verify the authenticity of the caller).
My understanding of interpretations of legal reasons, is that just clicking somewhere is not enough (even if it is unintuitive - which some cell phones are as well...).

DVD video tutorials for Logic?

I'm posting this for a small established publisher of video tutorials for Logic Pro. They have produced courses for Logic 7, 8, and 9 in both DVD and digital download formats as well as Mac App Store apps for LP9. However now that LPX is available only from the Mac App Store, is it worth creating a DVD format version? Would anybody still be interested in a DVD?

Hi Kilmar. Don't know about the apple site, but as others have replied macprovideo.com have an excellent range. There are free downloadedable examples and some to watch on their site. The tutorials that come with V8 are only song files; not actual tutorials. I was looking for them too! There are also a couple of books from Apple pro training. Logic Pro 8 and Logic express 8 by David Nahmani. Also Logic Pro 8 Beyond the basics by David Dvorin. Both come with a DVD with 30 day version of expres and work files to go with the various topics described. I've got the Version 7 books and they are excellent. Version 8 won't be published until end of OCt and 1st week Nov in the US. In Australia, where I live, not until Feb 2008. {boring!] but they are available from US publishers. 8500 909a is on my network for days then it disappears and reinstall is the only way back

I am hoping someone can help me. I am a computer reseller as well as the tech support provider to my customers. I have tried everything that my 20 years experience has taught me and I cannot figure this out.
OS - Windows 7 Professional - with Administrative rights both locally and network wide.
4GB Ram and ample hard drive space.
Latest 8500 drivers from the web (Full package) downloaded and installed.
Networked using Netgear VPN Prosafe with a Server (2008 Std Edition) and 3 workstations as well as the HP 8500 (909a). I AIO wired to my router, and I have a static IP assigned in the printer. I have also reserved the static IP in my DHCP server so that the number isn't accidently handed out. The printer will stay on the network for days sometimes weeks. For no apparent reason, it just disappears. The scanning doesn't find my computer and my computer doesn't see a printer any longer. It sees the other HP Laser I have on the network (never losing that one - ever).
I am very tired of uninstalling and reinstalling to get this printer back.
Hoping someone has an answer for me.

I assume this is WIn7 64-bit? If so, there are Firmware and Updates here that you should try.

The cause could be due to your user agent being mixed up as 3.6.12 and 3.6.13 versions. I think downloading 3.6.13 from www.mozilla.com and then uninstall your 3.6.13 and then install the 3.6.13 you downloaded should fix it in this case. Your settings are in a separate place ([[Profiles]]) and not in program folder.

If Safari is working otherwise and you can log onto other websites, try clearing Safari and reset your iPad. That might help with the Twitter app as well.
Settings>Safari>Clear Cookies and Data.
Reset the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider if it appears on the screen - let go of the buttons. Let the iPad start up.

How to address HP Printer Software Update 3.0, iTunes 12.0.1 update that sits in the App Store, 'Calculating' for days with no install?

The App Store indicates there is a Software Update that appears to include the HP Printer Software Update 3.0 and iTunes 12.0.1
Unfortunately, the software update fails to install. Instead, it just sits there 'Calculating' for days with no progression on the status bar of the overall update.
The update buttons of both the HP Printer Software Update 3.0 and iTunes 12.0.1 are both greyed out, with no progress bar.
Not sure of what the issue is, there is no warning or error dialog box that appears or any indication of an application that may be interfering with the install.
Any advice?

Thanks for the suggestion. I wanted to install the individual updates but because I had settings to automatically download and install updates, whenever I opened the App Store, the system would try to download and install, preventing me from canceling the update to execute each application update one at a time.
After changing the settings from automatically downloading and applying updates, followed by a restart. I was able to open the App Store and run each individual update.

A few of these images had copies in another folder that remained and the ones I couldn't find may or may not have ever had copies. I had backed up my system with time machine recently as well, so I went into the backup to retreive the lost images. When I searched and found the backup copies I got the error "the file alias cannot be opened because the original cannot be located". The crazy thing is that the images that remained on my computer did not give me the same error and opened like they should.
In short images that I am creating, saving, and using are disapearing so epically that even time machine versions are affected when retrieval is attempted. Any suggestions as to what I could be doing wrong without realizing it? Or perhaps other people have had similar bugs that are software related and have a solution?

I understand what you tried to do but it doesn't work that way. Swapping drive names will just mess things up.
You should be able to reconnect the files though: in the Locate Referenced Files dialog make sure you click the Show Reconnect Options button — this will give you access to all the connected drives. Locate one of the files and hit Reconnect All. Should do the trick.

because you do not have a 3rd generation device. The OS Version says so , otherwise you would be at 4.3.5 minimum and also Itunes is also always correct in determining if you have the latest OS ( if not it fetches the newest from Apple's Servers ) . And because a 2nd generation iPod stops at 4.2.1 you can't get the newest OS, because your device is old. Buy a new iPod , they have iOS5 preinstalled.

W2K12-R deduplication optimization job stuck at 100% for days

I've W2K12-R server (VM, 4 vCPU, 14 GB vRAM) with a 7 TB D: drive, deduplication is enabled for this drive. I use this drive for backing up virtual machines, at the moment 3,6 TB are used. Each night ~2 TB new data is backed up, only the C: drives of VMs,
so there is a very high dedup rate, these new 2 TB are usually deduplicated during daytimes.

Since a few weeks I've the problem that ThroughputOptimization jobs (all Optimization jobs) do not finish. The job is able to free space but it stays at 100% for days.
Although I've set the DurationHours to 6 or 9 hours, the scheduled job does not end and thus no new Optimization job starts. That leads to a completely filled D drive because the space that gets filled by backup jobs during the night is not freed during
the planned time frame.

I don't see further information about job 39D260C4-32D0-4511-8982-598DA53DB423 in event log. In resource monitor I see that fsdmhost has very little disk activity (600 Bytes/s), but a cpu load of 25% (which is one of the four vCPUs).
I stopped the backups this week and started a manual full Optimization job, which stays at 100% since more than one day now.
Any ideas what to check? Any patch I can apply?

Your issue is completely different. You are running Snow Leopard. There is no download for Windows Support software for Snow Leopard, hence the error you see. Snow Leopard Windows Support software is on the Snow Leopard installation disk.
You need the Snow Leopard installation disk or a replacement for it.
