    I am embarking on a new project to create a joomla template. I need your ideas on how to use Dreamweaver to create the template. TQ

    It's pretty much the same procedure with all your open source CMSs (WordPress, Drupal, Joomla!...)

  • WARNING! SUSPECTED FRAUDULENT JOOMLA TEMPLATE SITE

    (Template Kingdom)  I am developing a free website for my cousin because she is a nice person and I am trying to learn how to use Joomla (I have been developing traditional websites in Dream Weaver for years). My cousin, Marcia, finally found a Joomla Template that she liked on a site called TEMPLATE KINGDOM. So she joined Template Kingdom and downloaded what they specified as being the template that she liked called "egg world." The resultant file that was download ended with the extension ".mht" It was merely a copy of the internet page describing the template (not a template itself). My cousin spend days sending the company dozens of e-mails to no avail...(not one word back)  I looked at the company website once more and they are in INDIA with no US contact number so that we can not call them...I even found one of the owners onf Facebook and e-mailed him about our dilemna.. again no response. We suspect that this website is a scam and wanted to warn other Joomla developers.
    Thank you for your time. Maybe I should just stick with Dream Weaver.. Just thought I would help my cousin and learn something new!
    Elizabeth Wallace

    If you know the name of the original author of the joomla template - you may want to send them an email so they can chase down the template in case it is in violation of copyright.
    If you google the name of the template, I'm sure you'll turn up the genuine authors' name and take it from there.
    There are many reliable Joomla sites are out - even free templates - so I wouldn't give up just because of one corrupt seller  :-)  As you say, it's the only way to learn Joomla.

  • Dreamweaver CS6 Templates not updating pages since i copied the website to a new computer

    Dreamweaver CS6 Templates not updating pages since i copied the website to a new computer
    First i install CS6 on the new computer
    copy the projects
    import the websites
    Now, when i change any template the pages do not update any more. New pages working correct. Also manuell updating works.
    Any Idea?
    Where are the info about the join template and the pages. Seems on the old computer - but where?
    Thx

    hm?
    now I made a new page from the template on the new machine - and find one difference:
    New Page:
    <!doctype html>
    <html lang="de"><!-- InstanceBegin template="Templates/mainvorlage.dwt" codeOutsideHTMLIsLocked="false" -->
    <head>....
    Old Page:
    <!doctype html>
    <html lang="de"><!-- InstanceBegin template="/Templates/mainvorlage.dwt" codeOutsideHTMLIsLocked="false" -->
    <head>...
    The slash / after template=" is not there on the new machine. If i remove the slash on the copied pages and restart dreamweaver then it works. A lot of work, but i can solve my problem this way.
    Maybe there is some checkbox for path handling...?

  • Dreamweaver 8 templates not displaying flash files

    Dear friends:
    I have developed an interactive banner with animation and
    links using Flash 8. I imbeded the banner into a Dreamweaver 8.0.2
    document and published it to test the banner. Everything worked
    just fine. I then saved that document as a template and created my
    editable regions. When I ran the preview, everything was still
    working well, I then created a new HTML documant using that
    template and published it. I found that the HTML page elements
    posted just fine but my Flash banner would not load. The browser
    kept trying to load the file and stated, "one item remaining" in
    the status bar indefinately. I have never run into this problem in
    the past and the only thing that that I have changed is adding the
    new active control plugin for Flash and updating Dreamweaver to
    8.0.2. Any assistance you could lend would be greatly appreciated,
    Kindest Regards,
    Mr. Grey

    What you will have to do is to delete and then remake this
    inserted Flash
    element, and make sure you use a ROOT RELATIVE link to the
    Flash, rather
    than a document relative one. That would make your code look
    like this -
    ,'width','770','height','284','src','/assets/hfcchome','quality',
    and it will then work.

    Hi
    I have developed some templates in Dreamweaver CS6 and Liquid Layouts

    Will appreciate help on this matter

  • Dreamweaver 8 Templates

    Here is what I am/have done and I can not get the template to
    work:
    I opened a new page in Dreamweaver 8 and put the page
    together including all meta tags and saved it as a template
    (template.dwt) in a templates folder on my local root. From there,
    I opened a new page, applied the template to the page and saved it
    as a html file (say aboutus.html) and I did the same with all the
    necessary pages for the website. (cntact.html, history.html, etc.)
    From there, I went back into the template and I added all the
    links to the buttons and I saved the template. Dreamweaver asked me
    to update all the pages that the template is attached to and I said
    yes. HERE IS THE PROBLEM:
    On all the html pages I created from the template, NONE of
    those links became active and they never updated as they were
    suppose to. I am running Dreamweaver 8.0.2 and my buttons to update
    are all rollovers (if that matters). I did try to manually update
    them through >modify>templates>update pages and that did
    nothing as well.
    Heres the layout of the page for reference:
    I have a header across the top contained inside a table (1
    row, no columns) (which can not be changed)
    I have a second table underneath the header that has 2
    columns and 1 row. The left column is where the buttons are and the
    right column will be where the text goes. I have tried to make the
    whole table an editable region, and I tried to make just the
    buttons on the left column an editable region, and neither seemed
    to work.
    Finally, I have a third table underneath the buttons that
    contains the footer (1 row and no cloumns) (which will not change).
    Can someone help me figure out why I can not use templates in
    this manner? The website I am creating will be MUCH EASIER to
    update if I can get this template to work as it is suppose to.
    Please help me??? - AJ

    How did you do this? FILE | Save, or FILE | Save As Template?

    Is the navigation element in an editable region of the
    template? If so,
    then this is exactly what should happen. You would (almost)
    never want to
    have navigation elements in a template editable region.

  • Dreamweaver 8 template update pages problem

    Does anyone have any ideas on this?
    I just upgraded to Dreamweaver 8 and am getting very
    frustrated with it so far. When I change a template and allow it to
    update the pages using that template, it automatically inserts the
    following code on each page which shows up then as TEXT on the page
    and I have to go and manually delete it on every page using the
    template.
    <!-- function MM_swapImgRestore() { //v3.0 var
    i,x,a=document.MM_sr;
    for(i=0;a&&i<a.length&&(x=a
    )&&x.oSrc;i++) x.src=x.oSrc; } function
    MM_preloadImages() { //v3.0 var d=document; if(d.images){
    if(!d.MM_p) d.MM_p=new Array(); var
    i,j=d.MM_p.length,a=MM_preloadImages.arguments; for(i=0;
    i<a.length; i++) if (a.indexOf("#")!=0){ d.MM_p[j]=new

    MM_jumpMenu(targ,selObj,restore){ //v3.0
    eval(targ+".location='"+selObj.options[selObj.selectedIndex].value+"'");
    if (restore) selObj.selectedIndex=0; } //-->

  • Dreamweaver CS3 - template help

    I am unable to get my website to fit in the middle of the

  • Dreamweaver CS3 Template

    I'm using Dreamweaver CS3. I use a template that I've always
    been able to make changes and automatically update the pages that
    use it on save. I've made some changes to the template, but when I
    go to update all the pages using that template it says:
    Done.
    files examined: 1183
    files updated: 0
    files which could not be updated: 0
    total time: (0:00:02)
    Nothing is updated. I have a large site to update and am in
    desperate need of help.
    Thanks!!

    Here are seven common mistakes that will result in changes
    not propagating
    from Template to child -
    1. Rename the Templates folder
    2. Move the Templates folder to some other folder level in
    the site other
    than root level
    3. Move a template out of the Templates folder.
    4. Make changes to an editable region of the template (which
    will not
    propagate)
    5. Assume that template changes can be uploaded to the server
    without also
    uploading the changed local files
    6. Corrupt the site cache so that the link between template
    and child page
    is broken
    7, Improperly create your child pages by simply opening the
    template,
    adding page specific content, and resaving the template with
    an *.html
    extension rather that its *.dwt extension. (you can tell if
    this is the case
    by looking at the code on a child page - if you see anything
    like <!--
    TemplateBeginEditable... then this is what you have done). If
    you *have
    done this*, then recreate the child pages (in DWCS3) using
    FILE | New > Page
    from Template, select the template and click CREATE.
    The 6th problem can be repaired by using SITE | Advanced >
    Recreate Site
    Cache, and the six others can be fixed by just not doing
    them. Have you
    done any of those?

  • Dreamweaver CS6: Template not updating pages

    I have developed a small promotional site using Dreamweaver CS6. Virtually all pages have been designed around a single template, and this has worked well throughout development.
    However, I'm now noticing that updates applied to the template (updates to an uneditable region) are being passed to only a few of the pages.
    Here is a page not being updated by the template:     http://www.purepowerengine.com/about.htm
    Thank you in advance.
