Tuxedo 6.5 Upgrade NT 4.0 to W2K

I have Tuxedo 6.5 on an NT 4.0 peoplesoft application with an oracle back end. I am trying to upgrade to Windows 2000 and when I do test upgrades I am not able to start Tuxedo "TListen". Do I need to upgrade Tuxedo to run under Windows 2000 or is there another issues? Thank you. Robert Pierce, Stratus Technologies. [email protected]

I'd suggest you post this in the tuxedo newsgroup or contact support.

  • URGENT:mods.h missing in Tuxedo 11R while upgrading from Tuxedo6.5 to 11R

In Tuxedo 6.5 there was a header file mods.h. I can't find this header file for Tuxedo 11R.
Actually my code is using one function (change_atts()) of mods.h. I need to switch the same code
for Tuxedo 11R in HP-UX 11.31 machine. Can someone help me what is the corresponding funtion of change_atts()
for Tuxedo 11R or what is the corresponding header file of mods.h for Tuxedo 11R?

    Hi,
mods.h I believe was part of the Tuxedo Data Entry System (DES), a forms system to use with Tuxedo applications. I think Tuxedo 6.5 was the last version to include support for DES, so there is unlikely to be any replacement for it. If this is in a server, it is probably related to some user interface logic that can likely be removed, although you'll need to replace the user interface with something other than DES. You could use PHP or similar scripting language to build your user interface given Tuxedo's support of dynamic scripting languages, and the support for common web servers such as Apache and iPlanet.

  • Tuxedo runtime licensing

Hi Friends, I have a question about the Tuxedo runtime licensing.
Does the Tuxedo runtime license can cover the Oracle Tuxedo software? As I know Tuxedo runtime is an add-on product for Oracle Tuxedo. Thank you:)

    Hi Kenny,
I see that you have Tuxedo licenses from BEA. Are you upgrading to Oracle Tuxedo 10.3 or later version from BEA Tuxedo?
Licenses you have cover Oracle Tuxedo as long as use of Tuxedo has not changed. For example, you have BEA Tuxedo Runtime Concurrent User Perpetual license. You can use these licenses with Oracle Tuxedo once you upgrade as long as number of concurrent users do not exceed what you are licensed for.
A SDK developer license is assigned to an individual developer. This individual can use Tuxedo to develop/test Tuxedo applications.
    Hope this helps,
    Deepak

  • Best approach to upgrade MaxDB AND move to new OS release

What would be the best approach to upgrade Contentserver MaxDB 7.5 on W2K server (32-Bit) to MaxDB 7.7 on Windows 2008 Server x64 (R2?)?
    1.  a) Upgrade MaxDB on the existing installation
         b) Create a complete backup
         c) Install latest release on new machine
         b) recover with backup from existing installation on new machine
    2. a)  Create a complete backup from existing installation
        b) Install same release on new machine
        c) recover with backup from existing installation on new machine
        d) upgrade to latest release on new machine
Both approaches share the problem that you have to run a OS/DB release constellation that is not released according to SAP PAM. The second approach has the advantage that the source system will not be touched and is still available in the original status if something fails. But the main issue is the compatibility question (7.5 not released for W2008, 7.7 not released for W2K)
    Any suggestions?
    Thanks,
    Matthias

    Natalia,
    thanks for your answer.
    > Do you have Content Server 6.40 ?
    yes.
    > the MAXDB version 7.5 is not released on W2008
    neither is 7.7 on W2K.
    > I recommend to go with 1 option.
    Which would be this one:
    >>1. a)Upgrade MaxDB on the existing installation
So can I upgrade to 7.7 on W2K though it is not released for this combination?
    Best Regards,

  • Slow performance in W2K using Oracle ODBC Driver

My company is upgrading our NT4 servers to W2K. One or our App servers is running MTS with several packages, one of those being a dataaccess package that is responsible for all data actions.
In testing the OS upgrade, I found considerable performance degradation with our data access package. I finally solved the problem by changing the ODBC driver from Oracle ODBC Driver to the Microsoft ODBC for Oracle Driver. I have also found that under XP, I can still retain the use of the Oracle ODBC Driver without any performance hits.
All systems currently have the 8.1.7 Oracle Client and MDAC 2.7. I have also tried the Oracle Objects for OLE with similar performance losses in W2K.
    More info about the problem...
In using the Oracle ODBC Driver, I connect this way -
    Dim RS As ADOR.Recordset
    Set RS = CreateObject("ADOR.Recordset")
    RS.ActiveConnection = "DSN=" & p_strDSN & ";" & "uid=" & strUser & ";pwd=" & strPassword & ";"
RS.Source = "Select stuff from aTable"
    RS.LockType = adLockReadOnly
    RS.Open
Using W2K, I found that the majority of processing time comes from the RS.ActiveConnection call, not from object creation.
I would like to use an Oracle developed driver to connect to my database, however, I am forced to use the Microsoft driver. I have not seen any similar problem on this message board, nor have I seen any mention of this in MSDN's discussion board. Can anyone shed some light on what is going on?
    Thanks,
    Matt

The performance lag we have been seeing is in the milliseconds, but when we make repeated calls, those milliseconds add up. I am seeing a difference of about 7 - 10 milliseconds each call between the Oracle ODBC Driver and the Microsoft driver.
TNSPings seem quick in all setups as does the connection tests.
The Oracle ODBC driver version is 8.01.07.00. I haven't tried the new 8.01.07.6+ drivers yet. I'll give them a shot and reply back with results in a day or so.

  • Clubbing multiple reports to one output

    Hi,
Is it possible to club multiple reports output to single output?
    Thanks

    Hi,
    Thanks for your reply.
What I mean clubbing multiple reports is that, all these reports are independent reports.
When the user likes to view, he views individual report. When he likes to generate in PDF format for e-mailing or storing, he selects multiple reports and run the report. So that, all the selected reports output should go to one PDF (not to individual PDF).
At one place, we did it through by generating a postscript of each individual report output and clubbed into one PDF. But, it doesn’t suits to our current requirement.
Is it possible? Is anybody tried doing it? Please share your ideas and comments.
We use Report Builder 6.0.8.8.3 under Windows 2000 environment.
The whole issue is, after we upgrade our Windows NT to W2K, most of the time, when we invoke reports from Forms, it hangs. Is anybody faced this problem? Any solutions?
    Thanks

  • Can't create queue on W2k Advanced Server...

    Hello,
I've just installed Tuxedo 6.5 on W2k Advanced Server and I'm trying to start
the BBL with the Simpapp application example. I've compiled the UBBCONFIG file
with tmloadcf and when I try to start the BBL with tmboot -A, I get the message
Can't create queue (CMDTUX 1098). In the ULOG file I get the LIBTUX 681 error.
I've tried with different values of the IPC resources (multiplying all values
by 10) and I get the same error.
If someone knows why I get these errors please send me an email
    Thanks in advance

There can be a problem if there are more than 100 Windows Services defined
prior to the Tuxedo Helper. This has been seen on W2k AS.
If this is the case the Rolling Patch is your only way out.

  • Tuxedo not starting up after Database upgrade to 9.2.0.8 on AIX 5.2

    Hi All,
    Server AIX 5.2
    Database 9.2.0.8.
I recently upgraded my Oracle database from 9.2.0.6 to 9.2.0.8 and after the upgrade Tuxedo has failed to start successfully.
I am getting the error messages
CMDTUX_CAT:819: INFO: Process id=41800 Assume started (pipe)..
I have been reading a number of articles on metalink and the web and they seem to point to an incompatible version somewhere.
The upgrade went through without any error messages.
The strange thing is that the XA log files from when the application was working correctly before the upgrade show
ORACLE XA: Version 9.2.0.1.0. RM name = 'Oracle_XA'
in the headers of the logfiles however after the upgrade the info in the header has changed to
ORACLE XA: Version 8.0.6.0.0. RM name = 'Oracle_XA'.
Does anyone know any reason why the 9.2.0.8 patch will changed the Oracle_XA version?
Has anyone come across this before?
    Please help.
    Mike

    Hi Madrid,
Please note that the xa traces file name changes to non Y2K comnpatapable i.,e a 2 digit year after the upgrade

I know this may sound silly but after the upgrade (and this is the second time i have done it) it seems to change the format of the logfiles.
This happened last week and the patch was rolled back and the application worked fine.
Did the upgrade again and the same issue arose.
The app dont start and the logfile format have changed again.
The format before the upgrade was xa_CLSUAT_07022007 but after the upgrade it as changed to xa_CLSUAT_070207.
The upgrade went fine but my question here is does the 9208 change any date format in the database?
I am showing the contents of the xa* trace files before and after the upgrade.
    Before the upgrade
ORACLE XA: Version 9.2.0.1.0. RM name = 'Oracle_XA'.

As you can see the Oracle XA version has changed from
ORACLE XA: Version 9.2.0.1.0. RM name = 'Oracle_XA'
    to
ORACLE XA: Version 8.0.6.0.0. RM name = 'Oracle_XA'.
    After the upgrade.
Any ideas why is this happening?
Have you come across this issue after any upgrade?

  • Do I need to execute 'tmloadcf' when I perform a hot upgrade from Tuxedo 10 to Tuxedo 11gR1?

The docs state "You should also remove any old TUXCONFIG files and reload them using the newly installed tmloadcf(1). ".    How is this done?  It is not a hot upgrade if I have to shutdown the domain, do the tmloadcf, and then restart the domain.  Does the binary tuxconfig file get propagated or does a text version get propagated and them 'tmloadcf'ed?

    Hi Harvey,
Not sure why that is there.  I think that just applies if you are doing a simple upgrade, although you still even for a hot upgrade need to rebuild your application binaries, including TMS servers and the like.
I would suggest reading the "Upgrading to Tuxedo 12.1.1 Technical Guidelines" white paper.  When you boot the backup master, it will receive a copy of the BB from the older version master and create a new Tuxedo version BB.  There should be no reason that I'm aware of to run tmloadcf for a hot upgrade.

  • Tpnotify with TPACK flag hangs after upgrading to Tuxedo 12c RP020

    Hi,
We are experiencing issues with tptonify with TPACK flag set after upgrading to Tuxedo 12c. Looks like tpnotify is not returned or reporting errors. Is there anything to do with "009. Bug16506218 - TPNOTIFY WITH TPACK FLAG THROW OUT EXCEPTION"? Is there any documentation about the new flag TPACK_INTL?
    Thanks

    Hello,
If all you have done is upgrade to Tuxedo12 the behavior should be the same. The TPACK flag definition is:
"The request is sent and the caller blocks until an acknowledgement message is received from the target client"
Is there any additional change(e.g. in your client) you have made?
What Tuxedo version are you upgrading from?
The bug 16506218 fix was for a jolt client exception and a JSH failure.
Do you see an error or is the process which executes tpnotify() just hanging/blocking waiting for the ack message?
The flag that you mention is actually an undocumented customer requested enhancement that went into Tuxedo 10.3.
Are you using it? Using it changes the tpnotify() behavior dependent upon the client status.

    Bob Finan

If the multithreaded domain gateway feature is not required, set UBBCONFIG GWTDOMAIN CLOPT using the "-s" option. Otherwise: 1. do not set UBBCONFIG GWTDOMAIN CLOPT using the "-s" option, and 2. do not set "TMNOTHREADS" to "yes" or "y".

  • Tuxedo Aplication Upgradation

    Hi All,
One of my tuxedo based application is currently using Tuxedo 6.5, Oracle 7 and HP Unix 11.0. According to client request i have migrate this application to the latest technology. I am planning to migrate in a phased manner (not all at once) :
    step1) Tuxedo 6.5 To Tuxedo 8
    step2) Oracle 7 To Oracle 10g
step3) HP Unix 11.0 To HP Unix 11.11
I am looking for the suggestion from the Tuxedo expert to assure whether all proposed versions are compatible or not with each other ?
Brief Info Abt Application: Client runs as a workstation on winodows XP and tuxedo server runs on UNIX box. Tuxedo server communicates with Mainframe system using LU and PU names over SNA lines.
    Regards,
    Rakesh Kumar

    Hi Rakesh,
The best way for a Tuxedo application to interact with a mainframe system would be via one of the Tuxedo Mainframe Adapters (TMA). These adapters come in 3 versions, SNA, TCP/IP, and OSI TP. These adapters allow each system (mainframe or Tuxedo) to see the applications on the other system as though they were native applications. Thus a CICS transaction appears to Tuxedo as a normal Tuxedo service. Likewise a CICS application see a Tuxedo service as simply another CICS transaction. The adapters are bi-directional and the SNA and OSI TP adapters support distributed transactions across the systems involved (or syncpoint level 2).
You can find out more details at the [documentation |http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E13161_01/tuxedo/docs10gr3/interm/mainfrm.html] page for the mainframe adapters.

We are using AIX 6.1,Oracle 11g and all are 64 bit. MFCOBOL which we are using is 32 bit. While compling the code we are switching to 64 bit by using the command cobmode -s 64 and trying to run tuxbuild all+ command and we are encountering the errors which i have metioned in my earlier posts.
As vac.cfg file was missing we copied older versions as vac.cfg and tried to complie the codes again.we encountered the following error.
    "BS-710b2.c", line 128.10: 1506-296 (S) #include file "mainexit.h" not found.
    cob64: error(s) in C compilation: BS-710b2.c
so we added a script mainexit.h with cobinit() function declaration in the current directory.
As we tried with tuxbuild all command we are facing this error.

we have included this file as well /usr/local/opt/oracle/product/ostl133/precomp/lib/cobsqlintf.o still we are not able to solve this issue..

  • Tuxedo 8.0 and Oracle patch 9.2.0.8

    Hi,
We have installed Oracle patch 9.2.0.8 into UNIX machine. We are using Tuxedo for middleware that using an API Application through Tuxedo to provision onto Oracle database.
Since Oracle patch 9.2.0.8 installed, Tuxedo produced core file.
It has been mentioned by Oracle Metalink Doc ID 455832.1 that potentially because both server and client have to be in synch version. The Oracle patch has been installed on UNIX server for both
    My question is that:
    - Is there any Oracle client on Tuxedo (8.0) patch that need to be installed ?
    - Or should we upgrade Tuxedo to later version, if yes which version that in synch with Oracle patch 9.2.0.8 ?
At the moment no workarround is applied.
Thank in advance for any info and help.
