Tuxedo 8.0 and Oracle patch 9.2.0.8

Hi,
We have installed Oracle patch 9.2.0.8 into UNIX machine. We are using Tuxedo for middleware that using an API Application through Tuxedo to provision onto Oracle database.
Since Oracle patch 9.2.0.8 installed, Tuxedo produced core file.
It has been mentioned by Oracle Metalink Doc ID 455832.1 that potentially because both server and client have to be in synch version. The Oracle patch has been installed on UNIX server for both
My question is that:
- Is there any Oracle client on Tuxedo (8.0) patch that need to be installed ?
- Or should we upgrade Tuxedo to later version, if yes which version that in synch with Oracle patch 9.2.0.8 ?
At the moment no workarround is applied.
Thank in advance for any info and help.

    Hi to all,
a customer asked me to update an Oracle database 10.1.3.0 on Windows 32 platform. THe only patches installed are **5556081** and *5557962*..
I looked for new updated patches and I founded some Oracle Recommended Patches ID 756671.1 and Oracle Patch Bundles ID 1207176.1 for 10.2.3.0.
Honestly I don't know how to proceed in the sense that i don't know if it is better to apply these bundle patches or to go directly to Oracle Patch Set 10.2.4.0 or 10.2.5.0 for a better update.
What is the difference between Oracle Patch Bundle and Oracle Patch Set?? and the difference between Oracle patch Set and Oracle Patch Set Update???
Any help will be well appreciated..I need to do this update asap

Pl clarify what you mean by "10.1.3.0", "10.2.3.0", "10.2.4.0" and "10.2.5.0" - there a no such Oracle versions
    I believe you mean 10.1.0.3, 10.2.0.3, 10.2.0.4 and 10.2.0.5
If so, all of the above are patch sets on top of the base release (10.1 or 10.2). It is always recommended to update to the latest patch set release.
Pl note that both 10.1 and 10.2 are de-supported - you should be using the latest 11gR2 version.
Patch set updates (PSU) are additional bundled fixes on top of patch sets - see this MOS Doc

  • Oracle tuxedo and Oracle tuxedo message queue on top of a virtual machine.

    Hi buddies.
    how is it going?
    A quick question.
So we are going to go live  using Oracle Tuxedo 12.1.1.0 with Distinguished Bulletin Board Liaison and Oracle Tuxedo Message Queue 12.1.1.0  on top of a Virtual Machine (VMWARE) running Oracle Linux 6.2. However we want to know if there are any recommendations or mishaps in which we may face ahead by running Oracle Tuxedo on a virtual machine?
I mean, I am wondering if I have to worry about kernel parameters, virtual machine parameters or any other thing from which could mess up everything.
    Another question.
Does oracle also provide virtual machines certification where Oracle tuxedo would run on top of ?
    Todd Little-Oracle
    Maurice G

    Hi Bruno,
I'm not sure what you mean with Distinguished Bulletin Board Liaison.  I'm guessing you mean a clustered or MP configuration?  And is it truly a clustered configuration or just a single machine MP configuration?
Regarding configuration, are you using Tuxedo services as well or just Tuxedo Message Queue?  The biggest issue related to OS configuration is around IPC resources.  If you do a tmloadcf -c on your UBBCONFIG file, it will help you determine the minimum IPC resources required.  In general I suggest configuring significantly more resources than the minimum to allow for future changes and for some of the parameters for heavier loads.  In particular IPC message queue parameters are heavily dependent upon load.  So make sure the maximum message size and queue size are large enough for your anticipated workload.  You can monitor them under load using the ipcs command.
We don't certify virtual machine environment but support them as long as the VM vendor assures compatibility, which obviously VMware and Oracle VM both do.

    Todd Little

  • Oracle patch 9.2.0.5 and ODP

It looks like ODP is not included in Oracle patch 9.2.0.5. Does it mean ODP is a step-child? It is kind of painful to set it up for the customers...

Just the opposite. ODP.NET (as with all the Windows data access drivers) operate on a slightly separate release schedule to take into account changes with both new Microsoft and Oracle products. This actually means Oracle does extra work in order to better serve Windows users.
New features are not introduced in Oracle DB patchsets, but they are in major ODP.NET versions. As such, if someone has standardized on DB client patchset 9.2.0.2, but requires functionality in ODP.NET 9.2.0.4, it is possible to use the two in combination.
When you upgrade to 9.2.0.5, it is not necessary to make any changes to ODP.NET as any version of 9.2 ODP.NET can be used with 9.2.0.5.

Oracle Time and Labor Patch 4773293 - HXT.I CUMULATIVE BACKPORTS 5 has been released to MetaLink for download.
This patch contains a number of important fixes. oracle Development recommends customers on HXT I level to apply this patch.

    Greg,
    Thanks for this update.
You state that this is the final roll up patch on HXT-I.
Isn't Oracle policy to provide backported patches on the last two minipacks? Wouldn't that currently be HXT-I and HXT-J?

  • Tuxedo 7.1 and RAC

Have anyone deployed Tuxedo 7.1 with Oracle RAC
    Specifically:
    - Is this a supported configuration?
    - Will the Tuxedo application transparently failover in case of a node failure?
    - Any specific configuration or limitation?

    Lior,
The enhancements to Tuxedo needed to ensure that Tuxedo XA transactions
access at most one instance of a RAC configuration and needed to ensure
prompt and proper recovery of Oracle 10gR1 transactions in the process of
commit at the time of a RAC failover are supported in Tuxedo 9.1 and as
rolling patches for Tuxedo 8.1 and Tuxedo 9.0. Tuxedo 7.1 does not include
these enhancements, so Tuxedo 7.1 with Oracle RAC is not a supported
    configuration.
Further information on support of Oracle RAC in Tuxedo is available in the
"Using Tuxedo with Oracle Real Application Clusters" documentation at
    http://edocs.bea.com/tuxedo/tux91/ads/adorac.htm#248431 .
In one of your later messages, you mentioned that you are using Oracle 10g,
but didn't mention if it is 10gR1 or 10gR2. Oracle 10gR2 RAC introduced the
concept of DTP Services, which were not available in 10gR1. The use of DTP
services greatly simplifies the RAC environment, and allows Oracle RAC to
automate instance failover and failback and transaction recovery. With DTP
services in 10gR2, the use of FAN and TMS_rac_recovery to manage RAC
instance recovery is no longer needed.

    Thanks a lot everybody.
Although I had upgraded Kernel Patch Level from 43 to 155, the real cause was, it seems that was maxed out Oracle Table, ..as I found it through ST22 tr code which inturn displayed a logfile which displayed the details of error. I used brtools to extend the tablespace of a table, reapplied the patches thorugh SPAM and it worked out quite smoothly.

  • Comparison between Oracle 10.2.0.2.0 and Oracle 10.2.0.4

    Hello Gurus,
    Our client is using ECC 5.0, HP-UX B.11.00 A 9000/800 ,Oracle 10.2.0.2.0
i want to know if we upgrade their oracle database to patchset 10.2.0.4
    1) What benefits (performance, security, stability) client will get?
    2) What is the drawback if we don't upgrade  system to 10.2.0.4 ?
    3) What are the issues which has been covered in Oracle release 10.2.0.4 over 10.2.0.2
    4) which one SAP recommends ?
Can someone please help me to answer these questions ?
    Thanks in advance!
    With Regards,
    kuldeep Tanwar

    1) What benefits (performance, security, stability) client will get?
A new patchset includes the latest bug fixes and fixes for performance issues (if you take care about the correct parameters for the DB as well). Therefore an update of Oracle is recommended as soon as it is supported by SAP.
    2) What is the drawback if we don't upgrade system to 10.2.0.4 ?
Maybe you will face issues with bugs or performance problems due to missing Oracle patches.
    3) What are the issues which has been covered in Oracle release 10.2.0.4 over 10.2.0.2
Check the corresponding SAP Notes in the OSS - the notes contain quite a lot of information. Check for example note 1165319 regarding fix information for 10.2.0.4.
    4) which one SAP recommends ?
SAP recommends to use the latest available and supported patch set. Check the Oracle SDN site for further information: SAP on Oracle
    Kind regards
