Tuxedo configuration global parameters

Hi
I have tuxedo configuration related question which I am unable to understand.
There are two parts to the question:
1. We have an already running tuxedo configuration which is working with certain values of global parameters. My concern is that if we have to increase the number of servers that are booted up by the tuxedo configuration, which global parameters will be required to be modified?
2. Since our deployment is on Windows 2003 server based, there are also parameters defined under the "BEA Tuxedo" item of control panel applet. My question is that if we increase the number of tuxedo servers booted in one of tuxedo servers, do we have to change the value in this control panel item as well. How are the values in this control panel item calculated?
We are using tuxedo 8.1 version.
Thanks

Hi Asim,
Without monitoring your system, it is impossible to say whether any configuration changes are necessary. The key thing to keep in mind is that Tuxedo uses IPC resources for all inter-process communication. That includes the request and the reply for a tpcall(). The best thing to do when deciding whether you need to make changes is examine the current usage of the IPC queue resources (assuming that is what you are concerned about, as there are other System V IPC resources such as shared memory, locks, etc., that may come into play). The ipcs command is the best tool for doing this as it will tell you how much of each queue is being used. If your current configuration isn't close to the limits under load, then you are probably OK adding additional servers. As for other IPC resources such as shared memory segments, locks, etc., using the tmloadcf -c option is helpful in that it will tell you the minimum IPC resources Tuxedo needs in order to boot the application. Generally it is a good idea to configure substantially more than that as the cost in real resources is small, and it saves you from having to change the IPC resource configuration all the time. In Windows, the IPC resources are controlled by the Tuxedo entry in the Control Panel. In other operating systems, they may be controlled by kernel parameters in /etc/sysconfig or other places. Check out http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E18050_01/tuxedo/docs11gr1/ada/adtun.html#wp1031892 for more information in IPC resource usage in Tuxedo.
Definitely check out http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E18050_01/tuxedo/docs11gr1/ada/admon.html to understand how to monitor your Tuxedo application. Also check out the Tuxedo System and Application Monitor add-one product for more information on monitoring your Tuxedo applications. Check out http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E18050_01/tuxedo/docs11gr1/ada/adtun.html for more information on tuning a Tuxedo application.

  • Configuring Global Currencies in BI Apps 7.9.6 for EBS 11.5.10 Source

    Hi All,
After reviewing the Configuring Common Areas and Dimensions section of the Oracle BI Applications document [Oracle Business Intelligence Applications Configuration Guide for Informatica PowerCenter Users Version 7.9.6 E14216-01|http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E14223_01/bia.796/e14216.pdf] I have a question regarding section +3.1.2 How to Configure Global Currencies+.
    Background
OLTP Source: Oracle E-Business Suite 11.5.10
    OBI Apps: Financial Analytics 7.9.6
We have 49 enabled Currencies and multiple Sets of Books (SOBs) each with a different Functional Currency and I am concerned with the limitations of the Global Currencies configuration within OBI Apps. From the documentation it states that:
Global currencies. Oracle BI Applications provides three global currencies, which are the common currencies used by the Oracle Business Analytics Warehouse. I'm keen to know if the 3 standard Global Currencies can be extended by adding further custom parameters in the Source System Parameters e.g. $$GLOBAL4_CURR_CODE, $$GLOBAL5_CURR_CODE, etc. and corresponding Exchange Rate parameters $$GLOBAL4_RATE_TYPE, etc.
From the documentation definition of Document, Local and Global currencies, the following configuration for the Global currencies does not make much sense:
    $$GLOBAL1_CURR_CODE (for the document currency).
    $$GLOBAL2_CURR_CODE (for the local currency).
$$GLOBAL3_CURR_CODE (for the global currency).Presumably these should be the 3 standard Global Currency definitions. If so, I want to confirm that the Document and Local currencies get picked up automatically depending on your EBS configuration?
Thanks for your time, all input greatly appreciated... and points duly awarded :-)
    Have a great day.
    Kind Regards,
    Gary.

    Hi,
The 3 Global currency codes are different from functional , local currency.
All the transactions are brought into the warehouse and there is no limitation to the number of currencies that can be brought in but for reporting purpose you want to convert all these transactions in multiple currencies to a single currency ...lets say US$ and at a monthly rate or GBP at a spot rate etc..
So in a nutshell the document and local currenclies do come in and there is no configuration needed but translation to a global reporting currency and the rates at which its converted is determined by what you provide in DAC.. the conversion is done by mplt_currency_conversion which is present in each and every fact mapping.

  • Cannot create or modify global parameters

    Hello,
when I try to add global parameters, I can do so and they appear in the list in the global parameters dialog. When I close the dialog and open it again, the newly created parameter has vanished. Same for changes on existing parameters, the changes are not applied.
    What's the reason for that?
    Kind regards,
    Matthias

  • How to configure global transaction wthin Oracle AS JMS and Oracle JMS

How to configure global transaction if I take a message from Oracle JMS(AQ) and send it to the Oracle JMS?

Which version of OC4J are you working on?
In OC4J 10.1.3.x, presume your OC4J JMS listens messages via MDB which uses a resource adapter as a message listener. The resouce adaper could be the generic JMS adapter deployed in OC4J as the default.
Resource adapter configuration to support MDBs is included in the standard ra.xml file, which lists the message listener types that the resource adapter supports.
The MDB developer or deployer configures the MDB in the ejb-jar.xml file, through a <message-driven> element.
In addition to above, configuration in the ejb-jar.xml file specifies whether an MDB uses transactions.
    1) The <transaction-type> subelement of <message-driven> in ejb-jar.xml has a value of Container, and the <trans-attribute> subelement of <container-transaction> (under the <assembly-descriptor> element) has a value of Required. In this circumstance, if there is an imported transaction, then message delivery and related work are performed within that transaction. If there is no imported transaction, OC4J creates a transaction, and message delivery and related work are performed within that transaction.
    2) The <transaction-type> subelement of <message-driven> in ejb-jar.xml has a value of Bean. In this circumstance, the MDB manages the transaction. If a transaction is imported, OC4J will suspend it before the message delivery method call to the MDB, in order to avoid conflict.
Message delivery is not transacted if the <transaction-type> subelement of <message-driven> in ejb-jar.xml has a value of Container, but the <trans-attribute> element has a value of NotSupported. If there is an imported transaction in this circumstance, OC4J will suspend the transaction before the message delivery method call to the MDB.
Details could be found from OC4J Resource Adapter Guide.

  • Configure global roles in weblogic express

Weblogic Express 8.1 sp2 does not allow you to configure global roles using the
    Admin console.
I know this is the expected functionality. How do you configure these global
roles without the use of the Admin Console.

As far as i know you could never create roles via WLST offline, only via WLST online.

  • Are there global parameters in SAP

Just wondering if there is also an option to define global parameters with global values.
I know there are parameters but those I have to attach to a user with a value.
there is also an user_dir with AL11 which is used for directories .
I look for instance for an requirement where I can maintain email adresses.
Now I have hardcoded it in ABAP but it happens from time to time due to reorganisations that emails change.
    CASE ekko-bukrs.
              WHEN '1600'.
                so_sender = 'inkoopsomewhere.nl'.
              WHEN OTHERS.
                so_sender = 'inkoopotherdepartment.nl'.
            ENDCASE.
it is in these cases not possible to put it in customizing in organisation structure since other emails are used there.
I want to be able to maintain the specific mail adresses in 1 spot. in the example of the programm above there are also other programms with the same mail adresses hard coded.
it there something like global parameters or an other option to maintain email adresses  or other objects ?
or with other words, define global abap independent constants.
the table tvarv for instance looks promising but is als a bit of an abuse and limited in var value length  since these vars are meant for report use.
    kind regards

thanks for all the answers, since it was a more informative question also all the answers are rewarded since they confirmed my choice to make a ztable for the parameters. but I couldn't help to think that SAP might have a sollution or already a table for this.
we had some problems with distribution lists recently so I am not a big fan of using those.
I have now set up an ztable with
    PARAM_NAME     PARAM_NAME     CHAR     15
    PARAM_VAL     PARAM_VAL     CHAR     80
    PARAMTEXT     PARAMTEXT     CHAR     79

  • VAT registration No. in Company Code Global Parameters

    Hi All,
I have tried to enter the Vat registration No. for a New Zealand Company Code and i have faced the error as "Entry of a VAT reg.no.is only possible for co.codes in EC countries"
Pls let me know config step to enter the VAT reg no irrespective of the above mentioned error.
    Thank you
    Gopi

    Dear Gopi,
The VAT Registration No. field is reserved for only European countries, with an exception to Canada and few others.
By system design, the VAT registration number cannot be entered via transaction code OBY6 for non-EU countries. However, the following workaround can be used to accomplish this:
    1. Turn ON the EU country switch (T005-XEGLD) in the Country Global Parameters via trans OY01.
    2. Enter the VAT registration no. in the Company Code Global Data via transaction code OBY6.
    3. Turn OFF the EU country switch (T005-XEGLD) in the Country Global Parameters via transaction code OY01. This switch should be turned OFF.

  • Advertise configuration globally using Bonjour

What does this mean "advertise configuration globally using Bonjour" it can be found in the (AE) setup under Airport Tabs- Base Station. If you place a check mark in that field what happens or I say what can happen.
Also I have a mac mini that seems to drop the Airport connection, all other devices seems to keep a connection. Keep in mind I setup the mac mini with its own IP address which is way out of the DHCP range, In addtion the account that the mac mini uses doesn't have Admin rights at all
Looking for someone to explain or point me in the right direction.
last but not lease maybe someone can tell me if this would be the right direction of setting up this network, I would like to be able to remote into system from work to home:
I've setup my network with the following setup:
    1. Cable moden attached to the AE, with radio mode @ 802.11n (802.11b/g)
2 I have a old express attached to a 1gig router by Cat5, and the (AE) is set to bridge mode.
Is this the right setup to have if you want your mac mini on the network wireless? My mac mini is attached to the TV use for a media server only. I do have two other macbooks & a macbook pro.
    thanks,
    rob

Wide-area bonjour makes your bonjour services browsable over the internet. The missing piece, however, is the client configuration tool. Once you have your wide-area bonjour updates going to your DNS server you can use this preference pane to search your DNS server. Once installed and set up for your wide-area bonjour, things like Safari can browse your bonjour services.

  • How to set global parameters? (Best Practice?)

    Dear all,
I've experience with Infor Performance Management tools, Qlikview and also SAP Business Objects Reporting. As for last week i'm new to Microsoft Reporting Services. In our current environemnt we're setting up a Report Structure on top of an Analysis Service
    Cube.
Currently I'm creating various reports (which works fine) on the mentioned Analysis Service Cube.
My current question is, if there is a best practice to create reports with global variables? We'll have a package of ~20 reports which all relate to the same data source. My approach is that i'll define the reports, but the global parameters like "Current
year", "Last year" etc. should be defined on a global page. That's the way I would have done it in the other BI tools.
How is this done best in MS Reporting Services? Should i add an additional flat SQL server source and put the values in some ref tables? Or script the global parameter?

    Hi Praveen G,
this blog was one of the sources I already found.
I was searching for the "official" way to set the default-workbook - without manipulating the tables programmaticaly (and possibly inconsistant).
    Best regards,

  • Discuss on Configure Global Shipping Data - "Document Flow Update"

    Dear ALl,
I'm recently looking for the solution on some issue, when i use MIGO to post goods receipt with reference to Inbound delivery, but the inbound delivery status always did not been update by the GR.
I would like to understand more details for the below configuration, can anyone please share and advice the details purpose and pros and cons and if this "Document Flow update" is relevant to my issue where the inbound delivery status not updated by the GR?
SRPO: Logistics Execution -> Shipping -> Basic Shipping Functions -> Configure Global Shipping Data --> "Document Flow Update"
    Thank you very much,
    Regards,
    Chee Wee

Unfortunately I am not on ECC 6.0 and I dont see the field that you mention in my system.
There are quite a few links below, which contains some description about this field, of course provided for some issues.
migo with respect to inbound delivery
creating inbound again after goods were rejected

I assume apart from Inbound delivery status updates, other tables like MSEG and document flow tables also gets updated with the inbound delivery number.

  • WiSM2 WLC 7.2 Maximum Allowed Clients under Global Parameters 802.11a/n b/g/n

    Hello everyone,
Just loaded the 7.2.103.0 software onto the brand new WiSM2. Going throught the options and have found that under the global parameters for 802.11a/n, 802.11b/g/n radios is now the "Maximum Allowed Clients" option. The allowed setting is from 1 - 200 clients.
Does that mean only 200 clients will be allowed to associate to the WLC on that radio at a maximum?
Doesn't seems to make sense... I have the 500 AP license on this WiSM2... I know this option used to be an optional setting under a WLAN in previous releases.
    Any ideas?
    Regards,
    Sasha.

Does that mean only 200 clients will be allowed to associate to the WLC on that radio at a maximum?
As what Scott has responded, this means 200 clients per WAP.
If you do exceed 200 clients per WAP (or whatever value you put in there) the clients will just get a nag and the system will let you in eventually.

  • Request for any Best Practice document for configuring Service Parameters on CUCM 9.1.1

    Hi Team,
Could you please send if you have any  Best Practice document for configuring Service Parameters on CUCM 9.1.1. That would really help.
    Thanks,
    Guru

    Hi
There's no 'best practice' as such, but there are a few that I think should be default:
Enabling CDR, On-Hook Pickup, CFwdAll Override... but really the settings are specific to the requirements of the deployment.

  • How to see all global parameters in use?

    Hi,
Is it possible to see all the global parameters that are in set when a form is running? I'm troubleshooting an app and
I suspect a value is being set as a global parameter, but I don't know for sure.
Also, is there a way to search a for usage of a global parameter?
    Thanks,
    Tim

    Hi Tim,
You can run your Form in Debug Mode. That will allow you to set break points in your Proceures/Triggers. That way you can see all the Global Variables Set and Values they have .
    Hope that helps.

  • Global parameters

    Hey,
I would like to setup global parameters so that I can use then in any portlet. I am trying to set global parameters more like how oracle manages username and other variables.
    Any help is appreciated.

Hey guys thanks for the input so far.
This is what I am trying to do.
Oracle sets up global variables when user logs in. To get the list of the variables you can call this api
    owa_util.print_cgi_env;
I want lets say for example customer name and location to be part of those variables so that I call them using
owa_util.get_cgi_env('customer'). The reason why I am trying to do this, Those variables will be constant once user selects the customer and I want to access this information from the database also.
    Any help is appreciated.
    thanks
    Krishna.
