Tuxedo with legacy
i am using weblogic 7.0
i would like to know the rite strategy for applying tuxedo 8.0 to the legacy system.
should i use jolt with the tuxedo \Q?
or
corba as the interface of weblogic and tuxedo, with \Q service in tuxedo server?
Thanks Larry, I just found some documentation on the connector and this does look
promising. Unfortunately, I'm going to be constrained by what the customer has in
place. I don't know yet if the customer is using WebLogic. They are in South Africa
and I'm here in the east coast and just got this request this morning. I need to
find out more information to make a better decision.
Thanks again for the response.

Our network management system is accessible via a XML over HTTP interface. From
what I gather, the customer wants to interact with our NMS via their clientapplications
which use Tuxedo as their messaging architecture.
From what I've read (only a little today), I will need to create a Tuxedocomponent
that advertises services, accepts service requests, interacts with ourNMS via XML/HTTP,
and packages up the response which is sent back to the client.
Does this sound like the correct path to take?
Any and all comments are appreciated.

I have an iPhone 4 with legacy photos from an iPhone 3 now stored as a DCIM file on the i/Phone 4. When I try to download the photos to my PC only the photos taken with the iPhone 4 are recognized and downloaded. I can still see all the photos on the DCIM file but my PC doesn't recognize them. How do I download these old photos?
I've tried both ways. My Computer locates the device but doesn't see the old photos, only listing the new photos.
I no longer have the iphone3; I just transferred the photos from the 3 to the 4.
Was there a format change or file type change or did the transfer process create something different? I can still see and access the old photos if I go to that album on the phone. But that's the only place where I can see them or access them. -
Migrate Roles failes when migrating VMs with legacy network adapters (2008R2 - 2012)
I'm working on a upgrade of Hyper-V 2008R2 cluster to Hyper-V 2012 cluster. I am using the "migrate roles" feature of failover clustering to migrate the CSV's and VM's. The wizard ask to which switch the VMs need to be connected on the target cluster.
All VMs with network adapters can be started in the new cluster without any issues. If you look at the XML file of the migrated VMs with normal network adapters, a new XML has been generated in the proper 2012 format. However, all VM's with a legacy
network adapter fail to start. Also there is no migrated XML file in the VM directory. It is impossible to check or adjust the settings of the migrated VMs with legacy network adapters using the failover clustering console.
I have reproduced the issue in my lab several times, and it seems like a bug.
There are several workarounds, but I am looking for a real solution.Hi,
We recommend that you use the legacy network adapter only to perform a network-based installation or when the guest operating system does not support the network adapter.
If the virtual machine continues to use the legacy network adapter it will not be able to leverage many of the features available in the Hyper-V virtual switch. You may want
to replace the legacy network adapter after the operating system is installed.

Using Tuxedo with Oracle Real Application Clusters (RAC)
Hi all ,
Our present Producation environment is Tuxedo8.0 with Oracle 9i as database .
We are planning to implement oracle RAC .
Can any one tell us , with the current tuxedo version which is 8.0 ,can we for RAC Or we need to upgrade Tuxedo to 9.1 for RAC Implementation?
If anyone has Implemented Tuxedo and Oracle with RAC successfully
Pls share your experience.
Thanks In Adavance
Nadeer .Subbu,
As I mentioned earlier in this thread, support for Oracle RAC has been
implemented in Tuxedo 9.1 and in the Tuxedo 8.1 and Tuxedo 9.0 rolling patch
streams. There are no plans to backport this feature to Tuxedo 8.0. If you
plan to use RAC transactionally and if it is possible for multiple services
that could be located on different RAC instances to be accessed in a single
transaction (which will be true for most applications), then you should
upgrade to a version of Tuxedo with support for Oracle RAC. The
documentation at http://e-docs.bea.com/tuxedo/tux91/ads/adorac.htm#248431
gives an overview of RAC support in Tuxedo.

Hello Nadeer, Hello Ed,
Has the implementation of Tuxedo8.0 with Oracle RAC was completed
successfully ?.
If it is done , I have few doubts. Could you please help me ?.
1) I hope your Tuxedo middleware connects to the oracle Database using
Oracle XA resource manager and the TMS server built using buildtms with
oracle as RM .As per the mail from Ed, migration of Tuxedo9.1 should be done
before moving to Oracle RAC.
Also from BEA documentation, Oracle RAC support was given as new feature in
Tuxedo9.1.
Our Application uses Oracle RM to connect to Oracle DB[ Oracle 10g] from
Tuxedo8.0. So do we need to upgrade to Tuxedo9.1. for using Oracle RAC ?.
Thanks for your help

Trail balance with legacy balances problem
Hi Experts,
Need yours input for me on trail balance amounts mismatch with Legacy system.
My client using the both systems legacy and sap.
Now client taking the reports from legacy for the legal submissions for this year08-09.
I have done matching each GL with Legacy GL. Some of them were talied and rest of not talied.
this includes recon a/c also.
for the expenses accounts i can make JV postings, but the problem is how to make postings
to the recon accounts.(customers, vendors etc)
we are here having a huge transactions and client doesnt want to dig out all each and every.
client wants to make the JVs differed figure for account heads instead of dig all.
please let me know the easy way or t.codes to adjust the figures in various accounts for trail balance.
Regards,
SomaHi,
My sincere advise is not just to go by an easy way..
Understand where there is a gap and why there is a gap, vendor wise for AP and customer wise in AR..
Then try posting the difference amounts into these accounts as you have done in the first case..
This is a little time consuming job but thats the best way. Dont just post the differences as tommorow reconciliation would be a problem.
Cheers

PRA interfacing with legacy production accounting applications

What is the business case for doing it?
What are the gaps in PRA that are addressed in these tools?

Hi all,
My experience of legacy systems is very limited and was wondering if anyone can help.
Can tuxedo communicate with a legacy system (or does it depend on the legacy system) directly or is another product required? If so, what is this other product(s) and how?
Kind regardsTuxedo supports interoperability with a wide variety of legacy systems.
The web page at
http://www.bea.com/framework.jsp?CNT=index.htm&FP=/content/products/tux/learn/adapters/
describes the available Tuxedo mainframe adapaters. These adapters support
both IBM and Unisys mainframes, as well as any other system that can support
one or more of the protocols used.
In addition to these adapters, the WTC (WebLogic Tuxedo Connector) module in
WebLogic is available for interoperability with WebLogic, and
the Tuxedo Control is available for interoperability with WebLogic Workshop.
There is also a domain gateway process available to support interoperability
with the TopEnd transaaction processing monitor.
C, C++, and COBOL are all supported programming languages for writing Tuxedo
clients and servers.

Tuxedo -Oracle RAC ,
We are planning to upgrade the Tuxedo Environmet to o Support Oracle-RAC , with Single Database server with Two Instances .
***At the moment we have ceratin Tuxedo Services ( part of a transaction ) to connect Database , which is used by more than One Application ie The connection Services to the Databse is COMMON.***
Eg: we have service named DBSERVICE1 , which is connecting to a datbases , which also part of a Transaction , This DBSERVICE1 is used by more than one channels ( ATM/internet banking , phone banking etc )
we have more than one service like DBSERVICE1
With this architecture how we can effectively achieve Tuxedo -Oracle RAC High Availability.
Is is possible to specify in the Tuxedo Configuration like this " if the instance1 is down , use the Instance2"?+
Thanks in Advance.

Edited by: user10229565 on Nov 11, 2008 11:36 PMHi Nadeer,
In Oracle RAC 10g a single global transaction that spans more than one RAC instance, yet connected to a single database will not work, i.e., you may not get transactional integrity. To solve this problem, Tuxedo introduced RAC support by way of the TUXRACGROUPS environment variable. This environment variable tells Tuxedo about the RAC configuration, i.e., which RAC instances are connected to which RAC databases. Actually it tells Tuxedo which groups of Tuxedo servers can safely participate together in a single global transaction. Using that environment variable, Tuxedo will alter its request routing algorithm so that once a transaction is started, all subsequent service requests that are part of that transaction will only be routed to servers in Tuxedo groups that can safely participate in the transaction. So if we use a simple example where there are two RAC instances R1 and R2 connected to a single database D1 and we have Tuxedo groups G1, G2, G3, and G4, where the openinfo string for G1 and G3 connect to R1 and G2 and G4 connect to R2. If a server in G1 starts a transaction, or is called by a client that has started a transaction (assuming TUXRACGROUPS has been defined properly), Tuxedo will only route all subsequent requests that are part of that transaction to servers in G1 or G3. Thus Tuxedo will prevent a transaction from ever spanning 2 or more RAC instances connected to the same database.
Again, I encourage you to read the documentation for RAC support in Tuxedo as it gives several examples and describes in detail how to define TUXRACGROUPS.
Also note that this entire problem essentially goes away in Oracle RAC 11g.

Esso Agents 11.1.1.2.0 with Legacy Logon manager and PG
Hi
I have many applications that fail on single sign-on.Although the eso services are started I have many pcs having to be re-installed because of esso not working. I have tried the troubleshooting methods on repair and un/re-installation of the esso software with no success
The components I have currently installed are:
1. Esso Server
Logon Manager Console 10.1.410 (unpatched)
Provisioning Gateway server 10.1.410 (unpatched)
Microsoft ADAM repository on windows
2. Windows XP esso Client
Logon Manager Agent 10.1.410 (unpatched)
Provisioning Gateway Client 10.1.410 (unpatched)
My question is can I upgrade the clients to the latest version 11.1.1.2.0 now while having the Esso server version software remain the same. The upgrade of the Esso server will happen only during the latter half of the year.
Will the esso clients still continue to work connecting to the legacy software on the esso server.
We have a few sites that have been upgraded fully ( server and clients) to the 11.1.1.2.0 version and esso has been stable there ever since .
Thanks
MineshThis is an SSL handshake problem of Websphere - has nothing to do with AM.
Webspheres JDK does not trust the Signer / Cert of AMs deployment container.
Either configure a truststore (or use an existing webshpere truststore) where you import the Cert of the Signing CA of your AM DCs cert.
Other option - import the mentioned cert in cacert file of IBM JDK - but be aware that this might get lost when applying an Websphere fixpack/refreshpack.
BTW what have you configured for server.port,server.host and server.protocol in your AMConfig.properties?
If you have not changed that settings agent will use the port/protocol specified to communicate with AM.

Decision to Build BW data model with legacy data
Hi experts,
I was assigned a task to take decision on creating new data warehouse on the following scenario's
Option1:
1.SAP BW + Legacy data( Separate database)
Option2:
2.SAP BW+ Legacy data integrate to BW.
Please let me the pros and cons involved in integrating legacy data to BW or to report separately as two different data bases using BOBJ.Client is having SAP R/3 EEC6.0 running.SAP data is around 60% and remaining is legacy.
My question is which option is better with some detail.
Regards
prasadHi Prasad,
As mentioned no need to combine Legasy data and BW data in BOBJ.You can directly extract to BI from R/3 and Legasy Data. But
Please check the folliwng points from DB People.
1. As per requirement how many Tables that you are using to extract the data?
2. You have three source tables. But there are no unique records. In this case first you need to identify the common key field.
Note : That key field also should same as in R/3 also.
Based on the three source tables inform the DB team Mainatain a separate table (Which should collect only common record from three tables).
3. Now you can load the data into BI.So the above scenario will resolve issue.
Issues & Concern :
1. If yopu extract Lagasy and BI to BOBJ ?How u r going to combine data in BOBJ to generate a global report.
2. Is this possible to maintain a separate table in DB by the DB team.
Check once with DB team before proceeding further.

Tuxedo with MQ -regarding XA calls
Hi All,
We have a Tuxedo application that gets messages from a Mqueue and we're using tuxedo for transaction coordination(TMS MQ - Dynamic switch structure). Can anyone tell me in which all of the below situations will MQ make an ax_reg call to TM
1. a message has been succesfully picked by the appln- mqget suceesful - Message removed from queue
2. a message has been picked up the appln, but failed during processing, so rolled back to queue - no change in queue status
3. a message has been picked up the appln, but failed during processing, so moved to a backout queue - 2 updates in MQ, mqget from original queue and mqput to backout queue.
I am not sure whether to raise this in a Tuxedo or a MQ forum
Any help will be highly appreciated!!Atheek,
The XA standard says that dynamically registering "RMs must register with
the TM before they do application work," so I would expect that MQ would
call ax_reg() in all 3 of these cases.
If you
export TMTRACE="xa:ulog:dye"
in your client before making a service request, then a userlog record will
be written for each ax_reg() or other XA operation performed for that
client.

Using Photoshop CC with Legacy CS4 software
So if I just purchase a $9.99/mo Photoshop CC for Photographers plan (with Lightroom), can I still use my installed versions of oter CS4 products (Illustrator CS4, InDesign CS4, Dreamweaver CS4)? Generally, how well does CC play with locally installed legacy CS4 products?
Thanks John. That's what I was guessing, but I thought I'd ask before I made the jump.
I suppose the interoperability of the creative output files are more the issue of backward compatibility. I would assume that I couldn't open a .PSD file created in CC, in my old version of PS CS4 (not that I could think of a reason why I would), but I would certainly be creating TIF, PNG & JPG output in PS CC for use in my legacy versions of InDesign and Dreamweaver, but I can't see a reason that those standard file formats would be an issue.
Again, thanks for the feedback.
