TV and CinemaDisplay on a PM G5 1,8?

Hi, I have to connect a tv and a cinemadisplay (DVI) to my Powermac dual 1,8 Ghz (Nvidia FX5200 DVI/ADC).The cinemadisplay goes to the dvi port. I found adapters to get a component video from a dvi signal, but I found nothing to get a adc signal converted to component video. Is there a way to connect the cinemadisplay to the adc port and if yes is the quality as good as the dvi signal?
Thanks.

An ADC to DVI adapter will run a DVI display with no loss of video quality, since all it does is pass the digital signal to the correct pins of the DVI connector. The ADC to DVI adapter may just pass the digital signals, so a DVI to VGA or component adapter will not work with its output.
You can also get an ADC to VGA adapter to get analog video signals for the TV (if it can handle the computer scan rates).

  • External Display Blurry when Mirrored

    I have a 20" viewsonic VX2035 that is hooked up to my gaming rig. If I use it with my MBP and choose the mirror displays setting, when the Viewsonic is at its proper resolution (1680x1050) everything looks blurry. When at its correct resolution and not mirrored it looks normal. And it looks normal but slightly distorted if mirrored and at the 1440x900.
    Any ideas?

    I've found exactly the same thing.
    In "mirror mode", the external display (for me a 23" cinemadisplay HD) uses the macbookpro's internal screen's resolution (though it does uprez it), even though on screen preferences it may be set much higher (1920x1200 on mine). Hence the fuzziness.
    In "dual display" mode, and in lid-closed mode (where the external display is the only one on), it works perfectly.
    Not sure why this is. If anyone has a fix, please post.

  • Does the power cable from my 24" CinemaDisplay have to connected for the display to work.  I just had it repaired and now it seems to have to be plugged into the laptop  I dont remember it being like that before.

    Is the power cable from the display required to be plugged into my MBP for my display to work.  Recently had work done on the display (power supply replaced twice, glass replaced twice).  Also since I got it back from repair  my system goes to sleep sleeps even though I have it set not to.  Frustrated

    awesome, so you sound like you know what your going on about. im guessing its a Software fault tbh, because its like the phone is dead.. very upsetting..but with it not being the screen if they dont ask me to replace it and to send it off for repair what can i say as to a loan phone, mind a ease a little bit now i will just now wait for tommorrow to see what happens thank you

  • Problem with acer travelmate 8104 and apple cinemadisplay 23"

    Hi, I have a major problem with my setup now. I`ve recently purchased a brand spanking new pc laptop (acer travelmate 8104) with a ati radeon mobility X700 graphic card.... everybody says it SHOULD be able to run a lcd monitor like the cinema display on 1920x1200 - but it is`nt. after some tickering with drivers and stuff I`ve been able to get it to run at 1920x1200, but the image on the screen is not good. Its filled with green fragments that makes the text barely readable... it would seem like it is a driver-problem somehow... but I really would appreciate any tips regarding this!
    (and/or some other pc laptop that CAN use the acd 23")

    Hi... have`nt anybody else tried this? any ideas? pretty please?

  • 23" Cinemadisplay HD won't show text based graphics.

    Hi.
    I have recently purchased a 23" Cinemadisplay HD that had been left on the shelf in a local electronics store (from early 2008, with the aluminum frame and stand) that I'm using on a PC running Linux. My graphics adapter is an nVidia 6800 AGP8X card. Everything works fine, but I'm a bit surprised that the display doesn't show any of the scrolling text during bootup or the text-based BIOS-screen, but wakes up when the GUI starts. (X-windows in my case). Is this how it's supposed to work?
    I'm asking because I want to reinstall Windows XP and Ubuntu Linux om my computer, and the installation routines start as text based. If I can't see that on my display, then I have a problem.
    Is there a way around this?

    I can confirm this because I´m using my display with Boot Camp(Windows XP Home) and the display doesn´t wake up until the GUI starts(welcome screen). DOS seems to be unaware of my Cinema Display. I had to do the install process on the laptop display, so I guess you will have some difficulty when you try installing XP.

  • Best power performance AND everydayusable apple setup

    Hello, didnt really know hwere to post this guess it more belong under like "computers" generally,
    but! For a while...
        (-THE LONGER VERSION) :
    No whait!, let me start where it all began, 2009, a december (erhh.. iii think? Hwatever!) litlle me hwere nearly Totally blank to the computer world. And suddenly it stood there on the table, a shining (it was shining back there) new "hp pavillion entertainment pc" with its smell of fresh plastic mixed hwith the strong smell from the cardboardbox, remember it as if it were yesterday
    ... Since then.... I have today a good solid pc knowing! (at more advance level cmd,bott menu, recovery, blah, blah... NERD!) here at the last awhile, ive prommised to make a lot! A lot of video projects!
    (okay 2, but some big ones!) avchd multilayer 2 hours!!!!
    So the poor hp laptop -dual core i2 4gb ram, has been begged to it knees! And simply cant handle it of course! and it have just trough time benn loaded with lots of crap, and is extremly noisy, heat, slow, anoying = unusable!
    SO hwat i need is...
        (-THE SHORTER) :
    A computer setup that will EASILY! could handle stuff like that  (avchd, multilayer, 2 hours project) -and simmilar. A total power machine! But Im tired of windows! And ugly cheap looking design! The times have changed and i change with them!
    NOW I WANT APPLE!!
    But but but... Hwat should i get????
    1. Im NOT a billionare!
    2. I repeat: NOT a billionare!
    3. I also need portability for every day use beyond the hardcore creative editing and use
    AT LAST:
     i saw in front of me this genius plan... With a macbook pro, a tuned one, with as much of ram,cpu,gpu, and everything else as it can posibble have
    -the perfect combination of transportabillity, everydayuse and total power!
    When it gets combine with,
    A cinemadisplay
    A extra keyboard
    And a extra magic mouse
    And this power macbook pro, with screen, mouse, and keyboard i've found a really good offer at.
    MY ACTUAL QUESTION.... :
    Now it is yours turn to please! be creative! Please! Hwat does all you genius heads! think and say?
    WILL A super tuned MACBBOK PRO COMBINED WITH ACCESSORIES, AT ALL, BE ABLE TO REPLACE A STRONG MAC PRO, OR AT LEAST BE MORE THAN ENOUGH FOR REALLY HEAVY STUFF? And if yes, HOW strong actually (ram,cpu,gpu...) will it need to have to be "more than enough"?
    If no, what would all of  you then suggest that is perfect in relation to everything?

    Unless you know for sure that you are not going to use temporal effects or render to a codec that works with MP rendering turned on (Render Multiple Frames Simultaneously) then turn it off. It's better than it was in previous versions but still can cause tremendous delays and even system hangups if you throw in an incompatible effect or render to an incompatible codec.
    Set your ram used by other applications to an even number in the top field -- always, and if you do decide to use MP rendering I have a question about your choice for ram allocation there. How many processors are "Actually Used?" I'm getting zero for Other Applications and Zero for AE. You need to change things here. If you cannot allocate an even number of CPU's to AE then don't bother. If you are going to use MP rendering - run a bunch of tests when you have processors assigned to the process and you are leaving at least 2 to other apps and the minimum RAM assigned in MP is an even number. Otherwise, throw 2 or 4 GB of your available ram to other apps at the top and turn off MP.
    The location of your disk cache can be anywhere you like. I always pick a big fast drive with lots of space that is not the same as my system drive or the source footage drive unless I have no other options.

  • LG Monitor and New Mac Pro -- Colours out of Whack

    I have an LG L226WT and a 20" Apple Cinema Display connected to a brand new Mac Pro.
    Both monitors (in the same configuration) were running on my old PowerMac G5 before.
    The Cinema Display works fine, colours are good, so is light etc.
    The LG first had ghosting (severe at that) and this morning the colours are totally out of whack. Looking at some photos I had taken a week ago and colour corrected on the G5 now look like a child painted them (on the LG monitor, on the Cinemadisplay they are fine).
    It's not the graphics card either. If I take a screenshot on the LG and look at it on the Cinemadisplay the colours etc. are correct, but the LG is right now pretty useless to me. I tried to calibrate it but the end result is pretty much the same, it just does not seem to want to play nice.
    I don't think it is the DVI cable, as it is securely screwed in and in the same location as on the PowerMac, turning the monitor off / on seems to resolve the shadow problem but not the colour issue.
    Anybody have experienced this? Any tips outside of trashing the LG and buying a new screen?

    The ghosting issue is still one when I first turn the computer on. I found that I have to turn the monitor off and on and it resolves the issue.
    I also found the source of my colour problem, it comes down to the LG "resetting" itself to some "automatic improvement" or whatever you want to call it, which completely messed with the tones. After I turned that "feature" off it worked well, but man, that took me three days to figure out.

  • Colors are different between Lightroom and Photoshop Elements

    I have a new monitor and I have the SyderPro4 calbration software.  My monitor is the Dell UltraSharp U2713HM.  When calibrated with the Syder my colors are different when I go into different programs.  The same photo looks different in Lightroom than it does in Photoshop Elements. When I export the picture from Lightroom to Elements the picture becomes very orange. I have already talked to Dell and to Datacolor about my issue and they both are telling me this shouldn't be happening. When I uninstall my calibration software my problem goes away, and the colors of the images stay consistant between the two programs. Does anybody have any advice to what maybe wrong?

    I am having this problem too.
    my site www.redsmartie.com looks fine on everyone elses computer but on mine the red background #660000 is not displaying right on the jpg images
    see here http://homepage.mac.com/redsmartie/colourerror.png
    I have rgb colour profiles managed by a Pantone Huey device and haven't previously noted a problem. This was added recently so I recreated the images which corrected things on my screen but made the red around the images too dark for everyone else.
    The images were created in Photoshop so I changed the photoshop profile back to CinemaDisplay that it previously was on and now everyone else is ok but my screen shows the red around the images much to light.
    I really need some help with this as its a disaster waiting to happen on work I do for other people, especially if I'm producing work that looks right on my setup but is wrong for everyone else!

  • How to find the contrast-ratio in updated cinemadisplay?

    Is there a way to see the specific, individual specs of a cinema display we just bought?...It was manufactured on August 12 2006, Apple techs informed us that this unit could either have the new updated specs or the old ones...
    I also posted the same question on the cinemadisplay board, but in this forum the participants seem exeptional bright....
    Hoping for an answer...Thanks a lot..

    You can go to the websight of 'chipmunk.nl'...to look up the manufacturing date of you display...( probably August or late July}
    I talked earlier with an 'Apple product specialist'..about this issue, he sounded somewhat annoyed and said you can find the specs on 'apple support .com'..
    I pointed out to him that on the sales page the specs were different (better). He looked and was surprised and went to ask an egineer...coming back on the telephone he said: that the last display-update occured in March of this year...but there were still so many of the old screens floating around in shops etc...that they did not want to publicize this update as of yet..
    The update on the sales page came there for much later; I believe some time in August...
    (Do you know when that happened exactly? I am curious!}
    He said that all the displays manufactured after March 2006 have the better , new specs...
    It sounded convincing enough for me to have some peace with that...
    Allthough I do not see a diffence with the one I excanged this one for..(which was manufactured in: October 2005...
    Also he told me he would make sure the specs on Apple . com would be updated..
    Please let us now wether you got some more info regarding this issue..
    Thank you

  • OSX 10.9.4 crash when connected to CinemaDisplay & Dock appears

    Last time I used the CinemaDisplay was many months ago, likely on an older version of OSX and never had problems.
    Now, as soon as the dock appears via mouseover, it crashes to the logon screen.

    No crash as long as dock is hidden.
    Where could the issue be?  A conflicting app?

  • Best bitrate/frame rate for 1080 and 720 HD?

    What seems to be the best bit rate and frame rate to use for
    HD video for best playback on a Mac Mini. Plan on using H.264 encoder
    to be compatible with iTunes,etc. (I like iTunes for consolidating all my media).
    I have downloaded several movies from iTunes, both HD and SD, and they all
    look great and playback smoothly.
    I will be using a 32" Samsung HDTV.

    FWIW, I've been working on a 720p project and have found the "proxy" on the cinema display pretty good for judging focus. We thought we found some material with soft focus and actually took it to a post house to look at the tape on a CRT. It was out of focus.
    If I remember correctly, I think Decklink made an adapter that would allow you to view HD material on the cinemadisplay. Maybe someone else can pipe up with the specifics. Someone else also recently posted this link: http://www.matrox.com/video/products/mxo/home.cfm.

  • A problem with Threads and loops.

    Hi, I have some code that needs to be constantly running, like while(true)
          //code here
    }However, the code just checks to see if the user has input anything (and then if the user has, it goes to do some other stuff) so I don't need it constantly running and hogging up 98% of the CPU. So I made my class (which has the method that needs to be looped, call it ClassA) implement Runnable. Then I just added the method which needed to be looped into the public void run()
    I have another class which creates an instance of the above class (call it ClassB), and the main(String[] args) is in there.
    public static void main(String[] args)
              ClassA test = new ClassA();
              Thread thread = new Thread(test.getInstanceOfClassA());
              thread.start();
              while(true)
                           //I do not know what to put here
                   try
                        thread.sleep(100);
                   catch(InterruptedException iex)
         }However, the thread only calls run() once,(duh...) but I can't think of away to get it to run - sleep - run -sleep forever. Can someone help me?

    Hi, I have some code that needs to be constantly
    running, like while(true)
    //code here
    }However, the code just checks to see if the user has
    input anything (and then if the user has, it goes to
    do some other stuff) so I don't need it constantly
    running and hogging up 98% of the CPU. Where does the user input come from. Are you reading from an InputStream? If so, then your loop will be blocked anyway when reading from the InputStream until data is available. During that time, the loop will not consume processor cycles.
    public static void main(String[] args)
              ClassA test = new ClassA();
    Thread thread = new Thread(test.getInstanceOfClassA());I have never seen this idiom. If ClassA instanceof Runnable, you simply write new Thread(test).
              thread.start();
              while(true)
    //I do not know what to put
    do not know what to put here
                   try
                        thread.sleep(100);
                   catch(InterruptedException iex)
         }However, the thread only calls run() once,(duh...)Yeah, why would you want to call it more than once given that you have an infinite loop in ClassA.run()?
