  • No video signal toshiba tv/dvd hdmi

fios guy set up my fios tv with samsung tv last week. everything was fine.
I got a new toshiba tv dvd combo today. have HDMI plugged into HDMI 1. When I power on the TV (and HDMI 1 is selected) it shows "No Video Signal". (audio is fine)
I need to un-plug HDMI and then re-plug HDMI to show the video. When I turn off the TV and then turn it back on. Same thing happens "No Video Signal"and I again need to unplug HDMI and then replug to get the video...
    any suggestions? thanks so much!

The key problem is that the HDMI "standard" isn't quite standard yet. So you have two devices from different manufacturers trying to adhere to a common method that is still open to interpretation. Don't you just love bleeding-edge technology (5 yrs old anyway)?  I have some similar diffulties with one of my TV's, a Panasonic about 3 yrs old, and have resorted to using the component video cables instead of the HDMI cable. I really cannot see the difference in the picture or sound, so that method works fine for me. I suggest that if you can't find a workaround, do the same.
To get as technical as I can with this, what's happening (with bi-directional digital HDMI)  is that the set-top box is "talking" to the TV and trying to decide what to do to provide the right, if any, output. One of many things being "discussed" by the two devices is for example whether you are trying to illegally record anything. The Verizon box asks the TV to supply a proper response and if it cannot, then the box shuts down and won't send anything. The TV HDMI design must be able to supply the correct encoded reply according to the standard. If it isn't quite exactly what the box wants to see, then "lights out". Don't you just love the digital age? The analog HD component video cable set (not to be confused with composite video) has no provision for any return response (it's one-directional) so it's use is not a problem. The Verizon box does not expect any response in that case and goes on happily content to send its video out to whatever is receiving it. That is why many not-quite-legal digital recording setups use the component video cable interface instead of HDMI. Good luck...

  • No Video Signal new DVD connection to LCD TV

I just got a new SD-V296KU DVD/VCR combo and connected it to a 40FT2U LCD TV player I got last year. I followed the directions in the setup guide and owner's manual exactly, but I get a "No Video Signal" error on the television. Audio does work. I originally tried with an external tuner too, but still doesn't work when TV/DVD connection only. I've tried switching the connections around (standard yellow/red/white wires) and no change. Obviously everything on the "support" website has the same instructions and can't talk to anyone who can help....can somebody here please set me straight?

With the change to Colorstream on the TV, I now have color DVD and audio...thanks, Peter. However, I still only have audio for VCR playback; even when the selection is set to 'VCR', the screen only shows as "Welcome DVD - Toshiba". This also means I cannot enter VCR menu setup for setting clock, etc
Just to clarify the original quick posts, I added since I could not get assistance on phone and wanted to make sure whoever did see this was updated with where I stood. I originally hooked up r/y/w cables per directions in guide, but change to the green/blue/red using the white and red from other for audio. I actually posted a somewhat more detailed message later the same day (as my originals here) on the DVD board, but that apparently was taken down. Here's the exact connections:
40FT2U LCD: g/b/r- green = Y/Video, blue = PB, red = PR; w/r/y- white= L/Mono, red=R; yellow = bottom on Digital Audio Out; RF modulator cable in Ant/Cable box.  These hook to...
SD-V296KU DVD/VCR combo: g/b/r on 'Component Video Out' in order Green top, blue middle, red bottom; w/r/y on 'DVD/VCR Audio Out' in order white top (L), red middle (R), yellow bottom (Video Out); also have w/r/y on 'VCR Audio In' in order white top (L), red middle (R), yellow bottom (Video In) leading to...
Zenith external tuner: w/r/y - white (L), red (R), yellow (video) and RF to TV plus separate coax to antenna
I am happy about the DVD, but this combo is no good without VCR too. Your knowledge sharing is appreciated.

  • Set DVD to Sleep Video Signal Sooner

    Greetings!
    PROBLEM:
My DVD project is burning in my LCD HDTV screen.
    QUESTION:
Is there a way to make the DVD shutoff its video signal after a couple minutes of no activity (and override the player's sleep setting)?
I have two menus and three movies.
    WHAT I'VE TRIED:
The forum search here seems to have changed, it searches the whole site (what's up with that?) so that was no help.
Menu pallet> General tab> End (set 2min for audio)> Duration (set 2min)> At End: Time Out (set 1sec)
The player led counter stops after the 2min as expected, but the menu stays on screen too long...

There is no command in VM of DVD player to go into sleep mode, however there is "exit" command to stop playback.
To use it you'd need to redesign your navigation scheme. For example you could make your main menu to automatically play the first movie after the menu itself have been played 3 times. So after 6 minutes of menu the movie will kick in, preventing your screen from burning-in.
The end jump of the movies would be set to another menu that times out to a script which would include the exit command. This will end the playback and after a defined time your player will go into sleep mode.

  • Solutions for displaying s-video signal on Macbook Pro? (2006 model)

I looking around for ways to display an s-video signal on my Macbook Pro, but i've no idea the best way to this.
I'm not really after capturing or recording the signal, but I just need a means that I can view the signal, and to be able to switch to another program running on the Macbook. (switch back and forth from Mac app to viewing s-video signal)
Ive seen a few products but they look overblown for what I really need to do like the Elgato video capture, and the xlr8 provideo usb devices.
Is there a way that I could use the DVI socket on the Macbook? I have seem its possible to display the Macbook signal on an external display using this socket, but can it be used to take an input signal?

Technical note of what I exactly need this for: I have an old Roland sampler which can be used with an external monitor to aid in its editing. The outputs on the sampler are s-video and digital RGB. So that I dont have to buy an old bulky monitor I want to use my Macbook display for this while I also am running Logic Pro 8 at the same time. And to switch from Logic, to the displayed signal from the sampler.

The DVI out on your MacBookPro cannot be used for input. In order to see the s-video signal on your MBP display you will need an analog-digital converter like the Canopus ADVC-55, plus you will need to run software. You may be able to use iChat A/V, although I haven't tried it for this purpose. It will cost you more than the Elgato eyeTV device, however.
You will find it much easier & cheaper if you just get an inexpensive LCD display to use with your Roland sampler.

  • No video signal when connecting Blu Ray player

I have a new blu ray player and HDMI cable. It will play just fine when connected to little cheap TV but my large Toshiba will just show No video signal when I try  to connect it and use it. I have tried everything, read the whole manual, searched online help, called the support phone number which just directed me back to the online support. Nothing has helped.
Also when using my old DVD player with the 3 component cables, I never get any color, just black and white picture.

The TV likely has a shared video input. You need to tell it in the settings whether you're using a composite or component device. If you have a composite device connected and the TV thinks it's a component device, it'll show up in black and white. What model number is your TV? I'll tell you change the setting once I know what TV you have.
Also, to what specific port is the new Blu-ray player connected?

  • Video signaling problem caused by 1.9, 2.0 BIOS (pointing out a BIOS problem)

Hi, i have a problem with the video signal. At random times when i boot up my computer, the computer would power up but there is no signal to the monitor. there is no hdd activity (via the hdd led) and nothing seems to be happening just that the fans are whirring. i have to unplug the computer then plug it again then turn it up again which sometimes repeats the problem. This is very irritating! So i did a little bit of troubleshooting:
    1. I changed video cards. I used a SAPPHIRE ati radeon 9600XT fireblade and a LEADTEK GF4 ti4200. Both cards were causing the same problem and when i used both cards to another computer, there is no problem. = NOT A video card problem
    2. used differnt kinds of drivers Cat 3.10, 4.10, 4.20 (omega and official) does not seem to do anything (which also i believe the drivers are OS dependent and its the bios of the vid card that starts up the vid card)
    3. upgraded from 1.9 to 2.0 BIOS. still the same problem
    4. reverted from 2.0 to 1.7 BIOS. the problem ended.
    BTW, the board is 865PE-Neo2 - S. on a Intel 2.6Ghz C, 512MB TwinMos ram with m-tec chips, 80gb hdd, enermax 300w psu
so ive' solved the problem, and i just wanted to point out that there is a problem with 1.9, 2.0 BIOS. (havnt tried the 1.8 tho)

Wish I had seen this thread 2 weeks ago, but you did save me from buying a new graphics card.  That was the last step (before chucking this mobo completely) in my attempts to fix the same problem.  It didn't bother me too much, except I also couldn't get any DVD player (tried 3) to work.  Would boot sometimes and at others gave a blue screen video error.
Flashing to bios 1.7 was the only thing that fixed it.  Tried different memory, updating software, various combinations of drives, etc.  For the record I tried bios 1.8, 1.9, 2.0, and 2.1.  Not sure what about those updates causes problems but there definitely is something wrong.
    Thanks.

  • HP w2207 Monitor - "No Video Signal" After Power Outage

My mother has a Mac Mini - 2009 model - that I bought her. It is connected to an HP w2207 monitor I used to have with a mini-display port to DVI [I think, either that or VGA] adaptor. She lives 2 1/2 hours away.
Last week there was a power outage and ever since she cannot get her system to work. Her monitor says "No Video Signal" and then goes to sleep.
I worked with her for over an hour on the phone trying to fix this problem (oh what fun). Tried every combination of things I know to fix it. It seems from her description that the Mac Mini is not actually booting. When I have her turn the computer off by (press the power button, wait, press it again), she reports that she will here the disk drive spin up for 10 seconds but then no more activity. The green light is on, but that is it.
I had her reset the SCM, but that didn't work.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
    Bryan

See if the Mini will boot from the install disk. If it does, have your mom use Disk Utility to repair her internal hard drive. Repeat running repair until Disk Utility gives the disk a clean bill of health. Then repair permissions.
Disk Warrior can sometimes repair things Disk Utility can't. However, it's possible the internal directory is beyond help. In that case, erasing the internal disk and reinstalling the system will be necessary. It's also possible that the disk itself or electronic components in the Mini have been damaged which would require repair at the Mac hospital.
You might want to consider buying your mom a UPC.

  • Monitor no longer recieves video signal [Solved... w/ Fire.]

Greetings and thanks in advance for reading.  I'm thinking the problem is either Video or Processor but second opinions are always appreciated:
The problem started about a week ago when I was playing Wizardry 8 via Cedega (OpenGL accelerated Game.)  The screen mysteriously went black, the monitor turned to low power mode and the sound looped once or twice before just going dead altogether -- yet the computer was still on.  I rebooted and things worked again.
2 days ago the game thing happend while playing Unreal Tournament 2004.  Montior went black, sound looped once or twice from the past few seconds, then power stayed on but there was no video signal.  I tried rebooting this time only to find nothing happening and it's still doing nothing since.  The power turns on, no beeps or anything occur and it goes thru the same familiar clicks when checking the hard drives and CD Rom.  (The spinning still occurs as well, the keyboard blinks once and I can turn on / off the numlock.  The fans turn on inside the case, and the network adapter is recieving a current.)
I tried taking out the RAM, unplugging the hard drives and such systematicallyh only to have it do the same thing.  It boots up, doesn't beep, doesn't proceed and the monitor remains blank.  I tried swapping the monitors with no avail.  I even cleared the BIOS via popping the battery and waiting a bit (yes it was unplugged)  The only thing that produced a notable difference was when I unplugged the video card and powered it up without one.  It beeped once long, waited, beeped again long, waited, and kept doing this ad infinitum.  I should also mention the red LED indicating that the HD is being accessed is constantly on but there is no HD activity discinerable to the human ear.
My hard ware is a Gigabyte 64 Bit AMD Board (Tryton K8 I believe), GF6 6600 GT, PCIE Model 1 gig of RAM and the rest are minute details but I'll include them upon request.
I've had this machine little under a year now (actually 2 weeks from now it'l be ja year)   I haven't swapped out the video or processor since I do not have a spare one to replace it with to test it, neither do any of my friends.
Any further questions or such, let me know.  Thanks in advance again.
(Meant PCIE, not EIDE, sorry for the confusion)

Something similar happened to a friend of mine. His laptop  (under windows) bsoded twice while playing cube. the second time, it didnt boot up again, and refused to power on, there was no sound from the hard drive, the laptop didnt boot at all.
It turned out he had busted up ram... *shrug* it's hard to say though, such symptoms could highlight a lot of things.
Make sure all the connectors in your case are fine, everything's plugged in, and if you can, test out the ram in another compy

    Hello Yusuf,
I have a PXI system with a PXI-1411 and IMAQ Vision and NI-IMAQ. I'm using this card to acquire the video signal from a DVD.I'll like to develop an application with LV able to check frame by frame if my received signal is arriving in good conditions. This application should be able to detect if there's some frozen picture effect or if the DVD unit shows are incorrect pictures. I have no idea how to launch this project and if it can be done. Could you give me some idea or tell me the link of somewhere to find this? By the way, I have a PXI-8176. Thank you very much.

  • Re: "Unsupported Video Signal" when connected to TV.

i have a toshiba regza, model 42rv530u. i am getting the same unsupported video when i try to play games or some videos. i have made sure my resolution is set with the tv but noticed my video card is not reconnizeing the tv , has it listed as unidentafied monitor. i had down loaded a driver for a older pc to this tv a few yrs back . the pc i'm hook up to now is new. can anyone point me to a down load for this tv .  Thx

I think the problem is the RESOLUTION of the TV when used as a monitor. My first computer connected had the highest resolution of 1280x1024, 60Hz -- but the options I was able to get from the Toshiba TV were different.
Strangely enough, if I connect a normal 2nd monitor, I will get an image on the Toshiba TV and can use it as a computer monitor. But if I disconnect that 2nd monitor it goes back to saying: 'Unsupported video signal.'
I wish there was a way to set the pc/computer resolution for the Toshiba TV through it's menu...
Still can't get it to work by itself.

  • Intel iMac no video signal

I have a two-year-old Intel iMac. This morning I get to work and boot up but there is no video signal, just a black screen. I finally determined that it was booting ok, I can seen the hard drive on the network and access files off it, but I can't get the video working. Tried unplugging for awhile to reset the SMC but no help and resetting the PRAM. Tried booting off the DVD, no help. When I push the power button, it goes to sleep, but I can't wake it, the light keeps pulsing. I tried taking out the ram modules but it wouldn't show video on either one (I haven't touched them for about a year). There may have been some electrical problems over the weekend with storms.
Any ideas besides taking it into the shop?
    Thanks for any help.

Yes I did the proper procedure for resetting the SMU, several times. Finally took it into the shop and something in the graphics card is shot, which of course means a new logic board. At least a little cheaper than the over $900 I've seen quoted in other posts, only $652. Can't spring for a new computer yet, so going that route and hope it lasts a few more years.
Like others, I hope such problems don't signal a decline in Apple quality, at least in terms of the iMacs. I worked with 8-10 macs in a department for 15 years going from System 6 to Tiger and rarely had problems with the hardware failing. Now my personal iMac G5 had a logic board replaced just shy of the Apple Care running out, and this work iMac intel (at a new job where I'm the only Mac user) needing the same after just over two years. Unfortunately, they didn't get it with Apple Care.

  • How do I "send a video signal out to my tv" on an iPhone?

How do I "send a video signal out to my tv" on an iPhone?

I tried exactly this but it didn't work.  I was able to get to the TV out and set it but no video came out.  I have an iPhone 4 with IOS 6 and bought the cables from Apple.  Any other ideas?  I can plug a vcr or dvd into the same video inputs on the tv and that works fine.
    Thanks,

  • Remote Control does work with Sylvania Color TV/DVD Model 6520FDF

I cannot get the remote control to work the volume on a Sylvania Color TV/DVD Model 6520FDF TV.   Can anybody help me?

Have you tried the scan mode to scan for the proper code?
TV/DVD combo units are notoriously hard to program to universal remotes.  So if you did a scan and none of them worked then the likelihood is that the remote just will not work with that unit. If you have not tried a scan, here is the instructions to do so.
WHAT IF NONE OF THE CODES WORKED?
If none of the codes worked, try the following procedure. (As before, we will use the example of a TV. For other devices use the appropriate Device Key instead of the TV key in step 2 and 3.) 1. Turn on your TV.
    2. Press and hold the TV key.
    3. While holding down the TV key, press OK.  4. Release both keys. The Device Keys will blink twice.5. Press 9 - 2 - 2. 6. Point the remote at the TV.
    7. Press PLAY.8. Press FASTFORWARD (FF). Every time you press FF the remote sends out a new power-off command to the TV. Keep pressing FF until the TV turns off. (You can press REWIND to go back.) 9. When the TV turns off, you have found the right code. Press OK to store this code. Note: There are over 300 TV and DVD codes. The most common codes are tried first, but you may still need to press over 300 times to find the right code. If you reach the end of the list of codes the entire remote will flash twice and return to normal operation. You can exit programming at any time by pressing Exit.
