TV - great topics; dumb player

Every time I want to stop a training video on your Adobe TV and do something on the program that the training video is about, the video disappears and has to be restarted from scratch. Often it won't restart or it starts and stops every few sections. It would seem pretty simple to open the video in an actual window and to offer a resume feature.
This has been going on for months. Perhaps if you had a feedback option for the player you might have heard about it.
It is a colossal waste of time to work with the training or even product roll-out videos. An example is http://www.adobe.com/designcenter/video_workshop/?id=vid0201
Following along with the import process in my own flash with the video's download, I switch back and forth. If I even slightly touch the wrong part of the browser screen, the video disappears and requires a complete restart. And I have two monitors, it must be even more frustrating for a single monitor user.
Instead of giving up this time, I thought I would rattle the tree to see if anyone cares...
Doesn't anybody test these things in real time.

  • Audio sounds great in Quicktime Player but horrible in Final Cut Pro

    I'm working with a 16-bit wav file that sounds great in the quicktime player but once I bring it into Final Cut Pro 6 and play it back, it sounds like the quality has degraded quite a bit. I've tried setting audio playback quality to high in preferences, but this has not helped.

    Hi -
    Open the wav file in Quicktime 7 and export it as a 48Khz AIFF file.
    Import that file into FCP and see if that solves your problem.

  • How to create a multi video player with iMovie

    Hey folks, I have a great wee QT player for my daughter's website which was generated for me by iMovie export. Lovely.
    But- folk are wanting to see more videos of her singing.
    Question- how to generate a multi-video player using the same principles (and same simple design)? One like those generated by YouTube's facility to create a list of videos to appear in a single player, or where it is possible to just click a "next" tab? Here is the page I am referring to: http://www.brigidmhairi.com/music.html
    Just to clarify- I am not wanting to use the YouTube player because it is a bit fussy and doesn't look right on the site in mind. The QT one has no borders etc and therefore suits me better. Besides- the 320 format is perfect.
    Hope someone can help me, thank you SO much.

    Hi HighlanderIn ..
    who else than me.. ?
    this is no iMovie related question.. that is
    a) html/CSS-coding or
    b) some flash-app
    read out the code on your linked website ... :
    <embed type="application/x-shockwave-flash" src="http://cache.reverbnation.com/widgets/swf/33/videogallerywidget.swf
    pageobject_id=artistxxx bla bla bla /><br/>
    <a href="http://www.reverbnation.com/main/artist_feature/widgets">
    bla bla bla ..
    </noscript>
    .. going to that website reverbnation.com, it looks like they offer, as YT, a video-hosting service plus that 'special' player as a flash-code you can embed in your website (as the YTplayer) ..
    so, here are your options:
    • use this service.. costs? no idea, research on your own ..
    • use flash, encode yourself.. perhaps, you can find some 'ready made' coding?
    • *what website-maker do you use?* iWeb offers a template for videos.. many on one preview-page, 'click' creates a bigger version for playback ..
    .. as mentioned: less iMovie, more 'website creation' ..

  • Flash Player - Windows 7 - 2 Processes in Windows Task Manager - Slowing performance?

    Hello...I was hoping someone could help me fix this issue.  I live on my computer for work so this affects me daily and has for many, many, many months.  Firefox works great until Flash Player launches and then everything I do in my browser slows down to a speed similar to a turtle in a chess match.  When I go into the Windows Task Manager to close the Flash Player process so I can, for example, browse a text-only page or fill out a discussion question form on Adobe's forum page without 5 to 10 second delays between instructions (moving the mouse, clicking on something in the browser, typing etc.), I find not one but two processes in the Windows Task Manager. I assume there should only be 1 process and was wondering if it was something I could fix on my machine somewhere other than doing it 15 times a day using Windows Task Manager to stop the process(es) so my machine will work properly.
    I highly suspect it is the Flash Player that causes the issue as every single time I kill the process, my machine works like it is supposed to (fast etc.).  As soon as the Flash Player Plugin process(es) starts everything comes to a crawl.  Does anyone have any idea what could be causing this or how to fix it?  I use the latest version of Firefox, the latest version of Flash Player, Windows 7 Professional (latest updates installed), I eat right, get good sleep, give to charity, and love my mom.  What am I doing wrong?          Thanks for your help in advance!

    Hello Chris and Sameer,
    thank you for getting back on this issue.
    To answer your questions first:
    - no, I have not posted this issue in the connect forums - I will do and point to this discussion
    - Sameer, I have tested the webcam on the website you pointed out, it is not working with Firefox but it is working in Chrome
    I also need to give you an update on the current versions I use:
    Win 7 Pro (64bit) (all updates included)
    Firefox 21.0
    IE 10.0.9200.16576
    Chrome  26.0.1410.64 m
    Flash Player 11.7.700.202
    Adobe Connect Addin 11.2 r261
    I tested the webcam via FP with Firefox, IE and Chrome in the versions mentioned above. Only in Chrome I can run the WebCam on the www.testwebcam.com website. Once I start the adobe connect meeting and want to start the webcam the Connect Addin stops working with the popup as shown in post 3 of this discussion in all three browsers.
    All components have been uninstalled and installed again (except for IE)  for testing with no change in the result. I have also rolled back the computer to the system recovery point furthest back in time to see if any other installation might be the cause. But no luck either.
    I am happy to post the logs but would need advise where to find these or how to retrieve.
    Thanks!

  • When did these flash player problems begin?

    So, I had a computer running Win98 and IE6, which worked
    great until Flash Player 8 autodownloaded about 4 months ago,
    causing the beginning of an extreme headache. Several
    communications with Adobe support (they eventually stopped
    responding) over several weeks went nowhere None of the fixes
    suggested by them, nor the ones here worked. Countless manhours led
    me to think it was time to bite the bullet, buy a new computer. So,
    as of two months ago I have a new computer running XP and IE6 with
    SP2. I didn't know it until today, when I started having crashes,
    but I have Flash Player 7.0.19.0. When i go to Adobe's Test page,
    both Shockwave and Player windows show the animations (and no
    crash).
    On certain pages, which I believe have flash content, I get
    the "IE has experienced a problem and must close" message. It
    specifically mentions the flash.ocx file as the offender. It is
    repeatable when visiting certain pages.
    So, before I jump into the abyss of attempting to fix this, I
    am wondering when these types of problems began. I have been using
    Windows and IE since 1998 with no trouble until this year. I hoped
    moving to a new computer would solve my Flash compatibility
    problems. Could the root problem be new types of spyware, etc that
    change something in the registry? Some of the fixes suggested by
    Adobe were regarding keys changed in the registry. Unfortunately
    those fixes didn't work (in Win98).
    Finally, does anyone know if attempting to fix flash player
    under XP is any easier than 98? Also, I will admit I may have
    visited some sites recently that downloaded some adware, etc. Any
    suggestions on cleaning that may solve the flash player problem? I
    know this post is all over the map - I don't know where to begin...
    Thanks in advance, Don

    Hi
    Which browser is giving you the error? Is it IE11?
    Are you saying when you go to Adobe's website and download flash player it gives you an error?

  • Why dont' my flash player works anymore on certin websites

    It works great on you tube .It works great on  windows player internet radio. It works great on porn tube.But it no longer works onlive365 radio.the stations just loads .but never loads in and comes on.It don't works on xhamsters.com any more niether the same as live 365 .Just loads in.It's been this way since monday 12/17/12. I contacted help from live 365 and they claim it was not coming from them .They even put the blame on me.The same with the other help .Both have a option of buying a commercial free version of their web,without advetisements or commercial interuptions.I get asneaky suspicion that they might be doing this un porpusley to get to by premeium service.Evidence on I.e 9 a big advertisement labeled live365 rich media ad covers the whole webpage and player .No way to click it out.So the problem of not loading in is on Googles chrome .Originally firefox,unitl I deleted it out,. I.e. 9, which is now blocked by a big ad covering up the whole website.Could someone help me on this? I want tto get these stations back on

    Try switching Chrome's version of Flash Player to your system copy to see if that helps.
    Enable system Flash Player in Google Chrome | Windows | Mac
    Alternatively,  give Firefox or Opera a try again to see if that makes a difference.

  • Flash Player 9 problem with Chinese language

    Flash Player 9 problem with Chinese language
    I have developed a course in flash which goes in to different
    languages like Spanish, Chinese, Portuguese, Japanese...
    I have used flash for developing the course. I have tested it
    for Chinese It looks great on flash player 6,7 and 8 but I am
    shocked to see that it give some garbage value in flash player 9.
    Don’t know this is a bug of player or what?

    9 problem with Chinese language

    Thanks for the helpful posting. I came searching here for advice because I could not get my Flash Player 9 installation to succeed using the trouble-shooting information provided on the Adobe web site, and from experience I have come to know that my best resource in trouble-shooting is to seek the help of other Mac users.
    In following your instructions I discovered that "Enable Flash" was not checked in my preferences, so that was definitely part of the problem. However, I still could not get Flash Player 9 to work, so after doing a Google search I found a posting on Version Tracker (under feedback at the bottom of this page: http://www.versiontracker.com/dyn/moreinfo/macosx/11622 ) that provided the last little bit of instruction I needed to get Flash Player 9 to function properly.
    Before attempting to install Flash Player 9 I had used Adobe's uninstaller to uninstall previous versions, as instructed on the Adobe website. However, AFTER repairing my disk permissions, I needed to restart the computer and run the uninstaller again. After uninstalling I restarted once more, ran the installer and, VOILA!, finally Flash Player 9 worked as it should.

  • I need help finding the best Creative MP3 player for

    I've been searching through the product literature and not finding the information I need to make my decision. I'm hoping the people here might be able to help.
    I need one that does MOST if not all of the following:
    ) Audible audio book support.
    This is mandatory since 75% of my usage is books on the commute. If the player will have support "soon" as in the next month, then that is OK. I can limp along with my current player.
    2) Bookmarks.
    Since I mostly listen to books I need to be able to resume play at any point. It would be great if the player supported a bookmark per file, but I could handle one that only remembered the current position.
    3) In-Car use.
    By this I mean that it can receive power from a car adapter and will auto shut off and remember the playing position when the power is turned off. I was thinking of using a USB power adapter for the MuVo Tx FM, but I don't know if it will actually play when powered that way. I dri've 2hrs a day and that eats batteries too fast to not use the car power.
    Thanks for the help =)

    Altair,
    The Zen Xtra is the player you want. It currently has all three of the features you want available.
    ) It supports Audible with the latest firmware.
    2) It has a bookmark feature that lets you set multiple bookmarks and recall the position.
    3) It has a car mode that makes it shutdown when you turn off your car (assuming that your car outlet turns off when the keys are removed) and restart at where it was when you turn the car back on.

  • API indicator about sound using by the Flash Player

    Is it possible to add an API indicator which will inform about sound using by the Flash Player?
    I mean situation from web browsers where you mostly has few tabs opened and don't know which one is playing the sound. It would be great if Flash Player instance could inform about playing sound. Some kind of API, dynamic HTML tag (playingsound=TRUE/FALSE) or something like this which can give an opportunity to browser to react on. The best example is ofcourse Chrome which has own implementation of Flash Player and adds small speaker icon on tab which is playing the sound.
    The main reason of this thread is issue 486262 – Provide visual indicator as to which tab is causing sound from Mozilla Firefox Development but it can be global feature and helpfull for every browser and other applications using FP.

    Could you do me a favor and post a screenshot of this box that is appearing?
    How do I capture and post a screenshot or video?

  • Which MP3 Player?? Help Ple

    Well, My wife's Micro headphone jack broke today. This is the 3rd time for her. I have had the jack on my Micro break 3 times also. She is dead set on getting an iPod because of all of not only her trouble buy my trouble too. I am tired of babying my player to only have it break.
    Anyway, I am trying to get her to maybe upgrade to a different Creative product. I don't really care about photo capability. I just want an MP3 player. I really liked my Micro but it seems to have a design flaw. So I am thinking of getting the Sleek. Can anyone comment on the good and bad that they have encountered with this product. If you would suggest it to someone or not. Any help would be appreciated.
    Thanks for your help,
    Skee

    If you guys really liked the Micro, check out the MicroPhoto ... I haven't heard of anyone yet (unless I missed it) that have headphone jack problems on the new MicroPhotos. It really is a great and sturdy player (I posted below about what happened to me today with mine).
    I have owned all iPod models and still I think the Creative player is a much better player. You'll have to baby that iPod, too. ... probably more so ...

  • Nokia video player CABAC Reference frames.

    Hello. I have Nokia N8 with the latest Anna and all it's updates.
    I'm trying to play some "mkv" files but I have some problems.
    The current video player can play H264 (AVC) videos with CABAC support up to 5 Reference frames. If I try to play a video with more than 5 ref frames the player says the video is corrupted and only audio plays.
    Is there a way to play these videos without converting and if not, it would be great if the player gets an update with better video support.

     No, the only way to play videos with high CABAC reference frames is to convert the video. Actually, you will just need to lessen or turn off CABAC using a decent video convertor such as Super C video convertor.

  • Scope issue?

    Folks, I have a question on scope (or at least I think it is a scope question.
    Here is what I want to do. In my game class (that manages the turns and picks a winner), I want to create either a SmartPlayer or a DumbPlayer object. Both are children of Player. My first run at this ended with a scope issue which, through your suggestions, I solved. I made some changes to the code and got past it.
    (code below) I created an Interface PlayerInt which has the required methods (I know in this simple program, I don't need an Interface, but I am trying to learn about them and inheritance, and other things. ).Then I defined a Player class, and SmartPlayer and DumbPlayer. Player has the private name variable and a setter to set the name properly. In the constructor for SmartPlayer and DumbPlayer, I call setName("the name").
    When I run the game, I declare Player computer and then instantiate a either a SmartPlayer or DumbPlayer object and assign it to Player. Howver, computer.name is null. I don't understand why it is not being set.
            Player computer = null;
            if (generator.nextInt(2) == 0){
                  computer = new SmartPlayer();
            } else {
                 computer = new DumbPlayer();

                    if (turn == 0) {
                        foundWinner = true;
                        winner = human.getName();
                    } else {
                        foundWinner = true;
                        winner = computer.getName();
            }// end while
            System.out.println("The winner is " + winner + ".");
    }

    To be honest. I'd keep both interface and abstract class.
    But instead of using a reference to the abstract class use the interface instead.
    So
    PlayerInt player = null;
    //later
    player = new DumbPlayer();This is actually the "correct" way of doing this. So basically any code that uses the PlayerInt does not actually need to know what implementation is being used. In your example this is not important since you initialize it yourself but imagine you had an APIthat exposed the computer player with a method like this...
    public PlayerInt getComputerPlayer()Then other code can use this method to get a PlayerInt implementation. It won't know which one, and it won't care. And that's why this is flexible and good. Because you can add new implementations later.
    The Player abstract class is actually hidden away from most code as an implementation detail. It's not great to use abstract classes as reference types because if you want to create new implementations later among other things you've boxed yourself in to a class heirarchy. But abstract classes are good for refactoring away boilerplate code, as you have already done here. There's no point in implementing get/setName over and over again so do as you have here, create an abstract class and stick the basic implementation there.
    Anyway all this is akin to why it is preferrable (uj slings and arrows aside) to do things like
    List<String> list = new ArrayList<String>();All you care is that you have a List (interface), you don't care what implementation (ArrayList) nor do you care that there is an abstract class (or two) that ArrayList extends.
