[TV@Master] Distorted sound despite clean install of XPPro

Hi, an old problem popped up, reinstalled my MEGA651 installed the latest drivers for my 8086 card and MSIPVS. just like when the early betas were out i had distorted sound, but that was corrected with a later beta, now i have it with the official version. all settings are as low as possible but it does not help. recorded video just "screams". anyone had this problem? how can i fix it?

yeah i know what you are going thru i've got the same problem,
i use my pc to record tv-shows and watcht them on my tv
but because it's so quit i've got to turn the volume high,
so if i forget that and watch tv its very loud
anybody got an idea how to boost the volume ?

  • Safari crashes despite clean install.

Safari is crashing, usually when I have been doing quite a bit of surfing and  hopping back and forth between multiple safari windows.  I initially had some sluggishness as well, which I thought could be related to any number of programs recently installed.  So I used time machine and reset my entire system back to a time right after a clean install of snow leopard and upgrade to mountain lion.  From there I ran all available updates.  The only thing I added was Office 2011 and its updates.  After a number of days, once again Safari crashed.  So I reset system back to the clean install and upgrade once again, but did not add any programs, including Office.  I browsed for a few days with no problems, until it crashed again, twice.
Just prior to the second crash, a little pop up said security updates had been installed.  I thought that was a little odd, since it usually doesn't just install them like that without my permission.    So I clicked on App Store updates to see if there was any more info, and a Safari 6.2.2 update was waiting for me, which I then installed.

Mountain Lion and Safari 6.2.1  (and as of yesterday's update,  6.2.2).  I have a late 2009 model iMac.
3.06 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo
    Memory  12 GB 1067 MHz DDR3
Graphics  NVIDIA GeForce 9400 256 MB
    Software  OS X 10.8.5 (12F45)
I have added nothing other than the operating system, safari, iTunes, and their updates.  I haven't even installed Adobe Flash back on it yet.
Issues with sluggishness originally started in late October, and then started frequent crashing in late November.  So after a couple of day's of crashing, I used time machine to take me back to a clean install of Mountain Lion that I had saved.  Ran it for a while ok and then installed Office 2011 and updates and a bit later the crash occurred.  So I was thinking perhaps Office 2011 updates had been the cause.  So once again I reset back to the clean install with Time Machine, but this time I installed nothing else.  No Office.  Not even Adobe flash (just had to do without watching Facebook videos.  )  Same thing however.  After a few days, the crashes showed up again.
It may have something to do with my browsing, since I was researching and had about 6 safari windows running and bounced back and forth between them.
I can tell you I have no extensions other than Quick Time and iPhotoPhotocast that must have come with Apple updates and install.
I've had another crash since these.

Ok, well did the full shut down earlier.  Restarted later to use safari.  All went well.  Put into sleep mode while I left the computer for a couple of hours.  Came back and did just a little surfing, checking scores on ESPN and read some Facebook posts and it crashed while reading.
    So here is the Etre:
    Problem description:
    safari crashed

  • Blue screen with sound after clean install

    Hi Everyone,
I have just replaced the hard drive on my MacBook Pro A1226 Model.  The install went fine when it finished all I get is a blue screen with the osx music in the background.
I have tried deleting the ApplicationEnhancer file using single user mode, I have tried removing all the ATI Extensions but still no luck.  I was able to get the welcome video up once but was unable to select my country or continue. I have also tried to complete the install using safe boot but no luck.
Any ideas or help would be brilliant.
    Thanks in advance

Safe Boot by restarting your computer while holding down the "shift" key.  Safe booting disables all nonessential processes, often times allowing you to start up when you would otherwise crash.
As of OS X 10.5.6 Safe Boot deletes the dynamic loader shared cache location in the /var/db/dyld directory.  A corrupt cache here can cause the blue screen crash.  Once you restart normally, the cache will be recreated.  This should take care of the issue.

  • Satellite Pro P100 (PSPA4E) - No Sound Following Win 7 Clean Install

Hello, A European friend really struggling and looking for help.
I have just clean installed Win 7 Home Premium (64 bit) on a Satellite Pro P100 (PSPA4E) which was purchased in November 2006. It was previously running XP and I never installed Vista though the laptop is badged Vista Capable) I followed the Win 7 bios/driver/software install order but I now have no sound at all. Everything that I have tried so far has failed to fix it.
The laptop has a Conexant based audio solution with harman kardon speakers. Win 7 has installed the following driver which reports the following info.
High Definition Audio Device (Microsoft Driver version 6.1.7601.17514 dated 11/19/2010) and Device status: This device cannot start. (Code 10)
    Hardware IDs:
    HDAUDIO\FUNC_01&VEN_14F1&DEV_5047&SUBSYS_1179FF31&REV_1000 HDAUDIO\FUNC_01&VEN_14F1&DEV_5047&SUBSYS_1179FF31
There is a second exclamation mark in Device Manager for a further unknown device / uninstalled driver (showing code 28) for a device with a Hardware ID of ACPI\SMCB000 but I do not know what this device is!
Does anyone have any suggestions on a fix for my sound issue?
    Thanks!
    Martyn

Any one have any thoughts on this issue?
I have failed to locate a working / compatible Windows 7 x64 driver for Conexant HD Audio!
    Perhaps there isn't one?
Perhaps I need to try harder?!?
Perhaps the on board sound solution featuring Conexant HD Audio is simply ****** as on www.conexant.com they say manufacturers have TOLD them NOT to make drivers available (... to poor unfortunate users)!!!
I think that manufacturers need to step up to the plate and support / help their customers.  I own 4 Satellite Pro laptops running Vista x32 and Windows 7 x64. This one cost me well over £1,200 so I don't want to hear or conclude that it is simply scrap!  That would represent truly poor value for money - the kind of business case that would undermine my belief that Toshiba laptops are the best in the business.
Ditto Microsoft - the Windows 7 x64 Upgrade Advisor tool gave me the all clear to upgrade this system.  All generally appears fine EXCEPT the lack of sound.
Having now been exposed to the experience of many other laptop owners set out in various forums etc, covering both Toshiba laptops and some other major brands, I have to conclude that the Windows 7 Upgrade Advisor is flawed and that a successful upgrade is somewhat hit and miss affair.  Beware!
That said, still hopeful that someone out there will be able to help me fix this issue?
    Regards
    Martyn
P.S.  I can be reached by any Toshiba or Microsoft technical support guru looking to make a difference and help me out.

  • Can I use the same serial number for master suite when reinstalling after clean install of windows 8

I am reinstalling windows because windows got corupted. I can not access my computer to deactivate the software.  Do I need to be worried about not having deactivated it? I will be reinstalling mastersuite 6 after I get windows 8.1 clean installed on the same computer. I just want to make sure I will not have any problems reinstalling and setting up the adobe mastersuite after I have installed windows 8.1. I don't want to have a problem with the serial number still being registered to my old installation of windows that will have been on the same pc.
    Thanks for your help!

Your previous activation will still be in the loop, so you should contact Adobe support and ask them to reset your activations.  That way you can be sure you have the two your license allows for.  You can always skip this if you only activated once before but it will leave you with no extra activation should you find a use for a second installation.

  • GS70 Clean install of 8.1 Pro but no sound

I had a problem persisting before I did the clean install of 8.1 on my GS70 where after I restarted my computer the audio suddenly stated that I had no audio devices installed. After trying to search and try fixes for about 2 hours I went ahead and did a clean install of my OS along with reinstalling the drivers using the disc that it came with. Somehow it still states that I have no audio devices installed and shows that there's nothing that exists. I'm now unsure of what to do now and wondering if anyone can help me fix this problem.

Fixed it.  Just reset the EC.  Unplug the charger, press and hold the power button until the laptop turns off and keep holding for at least five seconds.  Then stick a pin into the reset hole on the right side and hold it for at least five seconds.  Then plug in the charger and turn on the power.  Speakers worked after this.  Login and then do a battery calibration.

  • Despite recent macbook with GUID, still needed re-format with clean install

Apple must have their hands full fielding thousands of calls from fathers with mac book endowed children who ran to the Apple store on the first day of availability, enduring the long pay lines and expense of Leopard only to find that the hope and expectation for a simple, hassle free upgrade was not to be.
They have or will eventually learn that afterone or more failed install attempts, the HD icon was flagged with an exclamation and that the only option was to reformat the hard disk. They will then freek out due to lack of backup for the HD contents including mail, itunes, imovie, documents, safari settings, etc., and will have to scramble to backup the data if they can.
If they are lucky and patient, they will be able to eventually speak to an Apple rep who will try to walk them through this frustrating and time consuming precess, but more likely the que will be full. The rep will check your HD and partition settings with you and state that they are not sure why you have to re-format as you already seem to be running the latest GUID format.
I hope that something can be done to alievate the pain of these poor unsuspecting parents!
It is too late for me!
Sufice it to say the a clean install did work.

It is obvious that a clean install on a blank disk will always work.
It is also obvious that not everyone will have a backup or clone before upgrading, trusting that Apple did their job well.
On anything but a plain vanilla box, it seems that the upgrade may not work or may not work properly.
I am sure that most of the installs are flawless and here we are seeing, as it should be, the words of those who need help.
We certainly do not need the gloaters, who by their nature are helpless.
We need good data as to what installs worked and what failed, and why and how to fix it so the next person does not have to suffer the same problems.
I have three boxes to upgrade this week. I may keep one or two at the Tiger level until the X11 stuff is straightened out.

  • X200 SSD (Solid State Drive) with clean-install of Vista or XP?

    Hi all,
I apologize for starting a new thread on a new forum; however, I am running out of research time.
I am about to buy a X200 with the 64GB SSD (Solid State Drive) (and it needs to be bought by tomorrow Can I ask couple questions? :
    1) I am legally using this for business purposes with an MSDN license, so I can and will install any clean OS immediately. With the option to install any Windows OS; which will work best [or at all] with the SSD? (I have read conflicting articles, but most are outdated due to SSD's being so new.)
    2) With only the SSD and without a MediaBase, I read several guides such as This Thread on this Forum on how "fun" a clean install can be...are there any extra difficulties with the SSD?
I am a software engineer and would normally piece this together my research; however, I am running out of time before I have to decide if the SSD is a viable and installable option at this time (and if I should buy it!)
    Thanks a lot!

    Hello to all.
I'd like to know why AHCI mode is being suggested to use for SSD's?  Please tell me why. I just don't understand. I think using Raid 0 Array would be the better choice. How does AHCI mode vary compaired to Raid 0 ?  Is AHCI a better Mode? Does it give better performance then Raid 0?
I see alot of you are having problems setting up SSD's.  I have read the first thing you need to do is make sure the firmware on any SSD you use should be updated.
I also see a lot of people here talking about the need to install Raid drivers.  This is true with all other OS's, but I have found that after a fresh format, even on a new HD, I just installed Win 7 64 bit ultimate I went right into device manager to see what drivers are needed, & to my surprise all the drivers were already installed, including Raid driver & controller. I set up my Raid 0 Array at the F10 prompt, rebooted with OS disk with master drive after setting up boot sequence, & continued from there no problem with 2 150GB Raptor HD's in Raid 0.
I have gone as far as to use a Western Digital HD CD utility disc that has a write zero utility & used it to fast write zero's to the first 63 tracks & sectors including track 0 sector 0 where the MBR is written, & I've reformatted & reinstalled Win 7 from that point, & all the drivers still get auto installed. You can go right into device manager & see for your self. The only driver I ever need my be a sound driver update & Graphics driver.  I'm not forgetting that the drivers that are auto installed are generic & may need updating, but what I'm saying is, I haven't seen any yellow question marks or exclamation points in device manager like you do with other OS's before Win 7.

  • Re: Satellite L650/0E8 - Clean install with Windows 7 64bit

    Hello.
I have recently purchased a [Toshiba L650/0E8 notebook|http://www.mytoshiba.com.au/products/notebooks/satellite/l650/psk1ja-0e8017] and accidentally installed the Windows 7 32-bit version.
I've backed up a "recovery image" of my computer into 4 DVD-R's using Toshiba Recovery Media Creator. I need to use Adobe Master Collection CS5, but this requires the 64-bit edition in order to use After Effects CS5 and Premiere Pro CS5. I've gathered by reading some articles on the net that I have to do a "clean install", but as I've always had a technician set up my computer and have never used a Toshiba laptop before, I am unaware as to how to back up all my files, programs, drivers, etc before I reinstall Windows 7 to a 64-bit version.
Is that what those recovery DVD's do? Is there anywhere I can download the required Toshiba software/drivers for the 64-bit version? I apologise if these questions sound really silly. I am honestly rather confused as to what to do.

    Hey,
First of all I must say its good that you created the Toshiba recovery disk as mentioned in user manual. :)
Some other users here forget it because they dont read their user manual.
Anyway, with this disk you can restore the preinstalled Windows version (Windows 7 64bit) with all drivers and tools. That means you dont need any additional drivers and tools from Toshiba, everything will be installed automatically. You get out of box settings back.
But if you use the Toshiba recovery disk it will wipe the whole HDD so you have to make a backup of all your important files that you still need after Windows installation.
Therefore I would recommend an external HDD. They provide a lot of disk space to backup all your data and with some models you get also backup software but you can also use the integrated Windows backup tool, its also nice and works well.
If you have more questions, please let us know! ;)

  • Can my macbook pro mid 2007 3.1 AA896ll/a handle a SSD and how do I make the switch. Can I do a clean install of Snow Leopard from an original cd

Here is my problem, I want to upgrade my macbook pro mid 2007 3.1 AA896ll/a to an Solid State Drive, a Crucial m4 256 gb, I want to know if the macbook will be able to handle it and how do I do the switch. also once I install the drive will I be able to boot from my Snow Leoard original cd and do a clean install. Thank you

Coming from a 5,400 RPM drive that's nearly filled up, fragmented and deoptimized to a fresh install of OS X on a SSD will of course be a improvement.
However fresh installing OS X on a new 5,400 RPM will also see a improvement, boot up in 30 seconds.
A fresh install of OS X on a new 7,200 RPM drive will also see a improvement, boot up in 25 seconds.
A fresh install of OS X on a new SSD will see the best improvement, boot up in 20 seconds on fast SATA connections.
OS X still requires time to setup and that takes about 20 seconds despite how fast your boot drive is, that's why sleep was created.
Things to consider: The higher cost of a SSD, the limiting capacity (hard drives hold way more up), the SATA I speed limitations (slows up on large file transfers), the difficulty to scrub the SSD of unwanted data (like you can a hard drive), and it's limited write capability. Also the smaller SSD's are faster than the larger ones.
SSD's are shock proof, which is their slight advantage over hard drives.
I see a 120GB SSD in a SATA I machine as being a waste, it's too small of a storage space (500GB+ is ideal), the SATA I connection is slow and other factors that make a 7,200 RPM drive a better option in that machine.
One can get a 750 GB 7,200 RPM hard drive for about the same price and still maximize their boot time in the process, also being able to scrub their drive of unwanted data easily.
SSD's can't be scrubbed, one has to fill 50% of the remaining space with many, very small files to overwrite the free space, then do another 50% again to defeat the Trim/wear leveling as SSD's write to less used location each time. If one fills a OS X boot drive up completely, it won't function or won't boot up.
If you do this fill routine regularly with software, then you prematurely wear out the SSD as it has limited writes. Why Disk Utility doesn't offer zero or 7x erase for SSD's.
If your in the 10% of Internet traffic that's going to adult sites, then the ability to scrub the caches and storage drive of embarrassing unwanted data is a necessity. Especially in the light of software and hardware that can read the SSD of deleted data.
Trick links and redirects on poisoned sites can firebomb your Mac with some pretty bad pictures and your hidden caches as well, especially if you don't like to pay.
IT personal have at their disposal free open source forensic software that basically aggregates all the past behavior done on the machine into a nice, easy to view format with times, dates and when and where content was downloaded from.
Since one has to give up their password for repair folks to recover data and fix the machine...
I think a SSD is less of a benefit over a 7,200 hard drive for that particular model of Mac for a mere few seconds faster boot time.

  • How do I use existing sync key after Windows clean install?

    Hi,
I had setup Firefox Sync on my old Windows 7 install and I have the Sync Key given during the set up. I had to clean install (format C drive) my Windows.
Is there any way I can use the old Sync Key to get all my bookmarks and stuff back?

    The problem has resolved itself...
...despite spending several pointless hours trying to delete the existing BootCamp drivers without success, I finally restarted Windows yet again - and this time I was easily able to delete the existing drivers.
I then restarted my Mac, installed the latest drivers without issue and it all works just fine.
    Windows, eh?!

  • Having continuous issues with my iMac, all I want to do is perform a clean install... at my wit's end. Help please. :(

I apologize in advice if this story is discombobulated or more information is needed to provide me with an answer. I will do my best to provide as much details as possible, but this is a problem that has been occuring for the past few weeks and some things I've forgotten the specifics of.
I will start by explaining that my iMac specs are:
Processor 3.06 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo
    Memory 4 GB 1067 MHz DDR3
    Version 10.6.8
I've owned this iMac since about April of 2010. I've never had any problems with it until recently. At one point in time, I had a Boot Camp partition made in order to install Windows, as I wanted to run some games that weren't available to Mac users. After awhile, I eventually bought a Windows Laptop for my gaming needs. When this happened, I decided to erase previously stated Boot Camp partition in order to free up more space on my hard drive.
After a few months, had major issues involving a trojan virus on my laptop, it destroyed my hard drive, and I wasn't able to buy a new one at that time. Recently decided to try and create a new Boot Camp partition to reinstall Windows. When I attempted that, (I apologize, I don't remember the specific error) it wouldn't allow me, and from what I remember after doing some google research, it sounded like somehow my hard drive had become disorganized, and needed to somehow be reorganized.
At some point in my google research I found that using the Repair function in Disk Utilities would possibly help. When I tried that, (the only reason I know this is because I tried just now to get the error to pop up) I'm given a message "This disk needs to be repaired. Start up your computer with another disk (such as your Mac OS X installation disc), and then use Disk Utility to repair this disk.
So here I'm thinking, "okay! No big deal! I have the disk still, I will just back up my hard drive to an external hard drive". So I buy an external HDD, back up everything I need. I then put the disk in, and my optical drive spends some time thinking, then spits it back out. It does this repeatedly. I do some more google research, find that optical drives crapping out on mac users isn't all that uncommon. I try to clean it with a trick someone suggested. I then tilted my iMac to one side, it accepts a cd! I try it again, and I'm no longer able to trick my iMac into reading disks. Sad face.
Instead of hefting large sums of cash at Apple to replace my optical drive, I buy a far more affordable external cd/dvd drive that is working perfectly fine. So after waiting for that to be delivered, 3 days later, I'm excited to finally get a clean install with my OS X drive. At this point, I care little about repairing, and have decided to just completely clean install. I restart my iMac, boot from disk, and I get the spinny thing for about 20 minutes. I think, "hmm... should it take this long?" So I reboot and try again. Same thing. I then let it run overnight, and wake up to spinny thing. When my Mac is on, it reads the dvd just fine. It just won't boot from it and let me start the clean install.
So then I get the idea maybe I can do a remote install of the disk from my friend's macbook. No such luck, won't seem to recognize anything. Then I see that I can make a copy of the disk image to my computer, and burn that image to a partition made on my external HDD, so that I can boot from that. Well, the only info I could find was a gentleman burning a downloaded version of OSX Lion, but I figured, "hey, its the same thing, right?" I guess not. I tried copying the image using the restore function in Disk Utilities, and it does indeed show up when I hold Option at start up, but booting from it does not start up properly. It starts up like any normal time I restart. I'm thinking its cause the way I copied it didn't involve a .dmg file.
So I try to copy the image to a file on my computer, but when I do that, I get some sort of input/output error.
What can I do at this point? I thought I originally set up Time Machine but when I checked recently, no such luck. All I want is a fresh reboot of my Mac. I'm guessing somehow my hard drive became corrupted in some way. I mean, it truly doesn't seem to be affecting anything, except somehow even after deleting all known movie, music, game, etc. files, I still am using up 270 gb of space. Maybe I never un-did the Boot Camp partition properly and kinda screwed myself on this one.
I've tried just about everything. I never invested in Apple Care, but even had I done so, I think it would have exceeded the warranty, as I had thought it was 2 years. I could be wrong, either way, its water under the bridge now. I need to fix this myself. I'd still like to use my iMac for general use, and to utilize the 1 TB of storage it possesses.
Any help is greatly appreciated, sorry for the wall of text, its been a complicated few weeks. Thanks!

Whew... never buy an iMac or Laptop from Apple without the 3 year extended AppleCare... well 2 years extended... & I think they should be called on this, they should come with a 5 year Warranty, with more available if you want.
I think, "hmm... should it take this long?"
No way, Houston, we haave a problem, not sure what... RAM, Logic Board, etcd.
Tough without the Install disc, but some things to try...
Does it boot to Single User Mode, CMD+s keys at bootup, if so try...
    /sbin/fsck -fy
Repeat until it shows no errors fixed.
(Space between fsck AND -fy important).
Resolve startup issues and perform disk maintenance with Disk Utility and fsck...

    Report outcome please.
