TV @nywhere and Dscaler

Has anyone tried this software with the MSI TV Anywhere?
I don't have one so I'm "Wondering" 8o . It works great with my ATI TV Wonder. It has some sound issues though but the picture quality is a markable improvement.
The software is free so check it out.
http://deinterlace.sourceforge.net/

right now they have an alpha build that supports the cx223881 chip that the card has and some people on the mailing list seem like they can get it to work. i'm going to try it as soon as my replacement card gets here. they said it was to be shipped out two weeks ago but i still have yet to receive it. who knows when i'll get it but when i do i'll let you how it works for me.

  • [TV@Master] TV@nywhere master and DScaler 4.1.11

    hi there,
over the weekend i thought i would try out a program that claims to be able to run my TV@nywhere master. that program is DScaler 4.1.11
The program says it supports the CX2388x chipset so i thought i would play it safe and uninstalled MSIPVS and drivers and start with a cold boot, the program installed without problems, auto detecting my card, and starting up just fine. once running i had video but could not get sound, after playing with it for awhile i still could not get sound so i decided to uninstall the program and reinstall MSIPVS and drivers. I did this the same as i did before, uninstalled, powered off, powered on, shut down anything running in the background, reinstalled drivers from the cd, reinstalled MSIPVS and radio, after install, rebooted, then set up MSIPVS as i had done before (before DScaler everything worked just fine including the remote) when i had the program set up i noticed i had no sound so i checked my settings (nothing different than before), checked the device manager to make sure windows knew the card was there and no conflicts or problems and found nothing out of sorts. at this point i began to worry so i uninstalled and reinstalled with the same results, i also tried the beta drivers and the newer MSIPVS with the same results, video with no sound (when you turn the volume way up you can hear a crackling sound) at this point i was getting pretty    so i spent the next few hours trying to find out what had happened. i posted on there site asking for help but no response so far.
from what i've read on there forum an early version of DScaler trashes the EPROM on the TV@nywhere master (i hope this is not the problem!) but that issue was supposed to be fixed with later versions of the program.
I am at my wits end at this point.    Not sure what to try next except filling the card in the circular file
can anyone give me some ideas on what to do? does MSI have a utillity availible to fix things like this?
one thing is for sure DScaler will never see any rig i build from now on!

    IT LIVES AGAIN!!!!!!!!
     Hi there!
I just wanted to post an update! i got my card working again with much better results than before!! Stu you should see the picture i get and hear the sound quality!!
alright! i'll write this down before i forget what i did. first thing i did was to uninstall MSI drivers and MSIPVS and Radio, then i downloaded DScaler 4.1.8 and the reflasher utility, then i installed DScaler, then i unpacked the reflasher to DScalers program folder and ran the tool, after that i uninstalled DScaler and powered off my rig, next i powered up and after closing anything running in the background i installed the drivers Stu posted then i powered down again. after powering up and closing everything i installed MSIPVS from the original CD that came with the card and the radio that Stu posted, powered down again, restarted and set up MSIPVS great vidio but no sound    then i started looking for a work around, i decided to run composite cables from my dish setup. vidieo to the tuner and audio to the sound card with the spliter that came with the card. got picture but no sound    then i started checking other things, "line in" is in my volume control and wasn't muted so i opened up my "sound manager" (my board has the Realtec ALC850 chipset) and started messing around with the settings there, after going thru 2 or 3 different configurations i let it auto detect and sudenly i got sound!!  (i tried auto detect first with no results) so at this point i thought i might push my luck, removed the composite cables and hooked the cable back up then restarted MSIPVS, went to setup and set it up choosing cable and line in, i ran the channel search and got vidio and sound!!!!!!
i'm not sure what happened because before DScaler everything worked fine (sound and video not as good as i wanted) after all this i get a great picture and great sound!! no noise in either!!
so far so good! now that's behind me i won't be messing with alternative programs and the TV@nywhere master again!!
i really hope this helps someone else find a way to get there card back up and running!!

  • READ this: MSI TV @nywhere Plus + Dscaler

My Pinnacle pctv pro has gone ( I suspect overheating).
Used Dscaler for tv (ecxelent picture, ultra fast channel switchig) and VDub for recording (Huffyuv lossless codec).
It was super card. On differnt forums I read:this card is good, this card is peace of  ....., but I think that every card is good as long it has good software.
Dscaler pulls maximum of the card out. For me is one of the best programs ewer written. :biggthumbsup:for the author !!
So I decided to buy something cheap. I bought MSI TV @nywhere Plus about 4 monthes ago.
Installation go smooth, MSI TVR works without problems, but TV picture was, like I ecxpected,  not even close Dscalers.
After many ours, managed to work it with Dscaler 4.1.15.
    Settings:  Card   Asus 7131D
                  Tuner  Philips TDA8275
For each channel choose right Format ( for me Pal-B) and frequency.
Picture is on channels with good reception like watching DVD, but channel switch is a little bit slow ( the card is not directly supported).
Note - Dscaler is just for watching, for recording is original Msi Tvr more than good.
I had problem to use Dscaler and Msi tvr together ( Msi tvr reports error - list index out of bounds), but i solved it -
send shortcut C:\Program Files\MSI\TV@Anywhere Plus\TVR\MSITVR.exe to desktop and run it from there.
Remember - dont ecxpect miracles with MSI TV @nywhere Plus but for this money ( 3 x cheaper then was my pctv pro), must say that MSI TV @nywhere Plus  is ecxellent card.
Hope, that I helped anyone with this.

    .

glad you're enjoying it! i don't use my TV@nywhere Plus much, apart from to use it to play my Nintendo GameCube, but i think its an all round better solution than the TV@nywhere Master it replaced (as well as being much cheaper too). however, once you go down the Digital TV route, you'll never go back to analogue TV again

  • TV@nywhere and ProLink driver/soft?

Had anybody tried ProLink PlayTV HD driver/software with TV@nywhere card? Both cards are based on the same CX23881 chipset and ProLink card has very good marks according to this ( http://www.3dvelocity.com/reviews/playtv/playtvhd.htm ) review.
The driver/soft package could be found here: http://www.prolink.com.tw/download/multimedia/881pl+/881PL+.zip

Well, I am using XP, and WMM 2 comes with XP. The recording quality seems to be the same in MSIPVS and WMM 2.
Something else I noticed... I downloaded some new webcam software, and it lists 2 drivers: the same WDM video driver (with the same problems I described) and also a DIRECTX capture driver, which lists the Conexant chipset by name, and captures fine.
Could this be a DirectX issue? I am using DirectX 9.0a . I e-mailed MSI 3 days ago with a question about this but received no response. This forum is my only hope in solving this.

  • TV@nywhere and closed captioning?

Is it possible to get closed captioning through S-video?
It's been a while since i used this tuner. I used it for a while till i installed an ATI all-in-wonder.
Now i am back with a different video card and back to the TV@nywhere. I remember being able to get CC with the TV@nywhere but i cant seem to get it to work now.
I'm using DirecTV connected through S-video with WinDVR3. The close caption option is greyed out.
I am also using the latest driver from MSI's website.
Is it becuase i'm using S-video? Does closed caption only work with coax (gross)?
    Thanks

I don't want to seem dense but the only thing I see available from their web site is drivers. I have the drivers installed that came on the CD with the MSI TV@nywhere Plus tuner card that I just bought. What is the "MSIPVS software from MSI's website". Do I need other drivers, if so, which ones.
    Thanks

  • TV@nywhere and WDM driver problem-a weird one!

I just bought a TV@nywhere card, as an upgrade to my old Hauppauge WinTV card... I installed all the driver updates, and it looks and works great using the MSIPVS software. But, whenever I try to use the card with any software that uses the "Microsoft WDM Image Capture" driver, the video is either green or black and white with tiny vertical lines running through it.  ;(
I made sure all the references to my old card were deleted from the registry, I reinstalled the TV@nywhere drivers... Nothing seemed to help.
Some Windows programs (like netmeeting) don't even recognize that I have a video device at all, and the ones that do give me the b&w or green screen.
    Here's the weird part:
Finally, out of desperation, I opened Windows Movie Maker 2, the default program that comes with Windows. It named the Conexant chipset by name, and I was able to use it to record from my TV@nywhere card! Success! After doing this, I tried the programs that provided the B&W/green screens before, and they worked fine!
I thought I had permanently fixed the problem!
But now, every time I reboot, those programs that use the "Microsoft WDM Image Capture" driver go back to B&W/green... I have to run Windows Movie Maker 2 every time I reboot, record like a 5 second video, and close it to make these other programs behave normally. I'm out of ideas as to why this is happening. Can anyone help?

  • Digital@nywhere and Windows 7

    Hello all,
I have been using my Digital@nywhere card for a few years now, with no problems. However, as I upgraded my OS to Windows 7, after reinstalling the drivers and the software, the software does not run. Whenever I click on the TVR button, I get an error that says this: Access violation at address 0002111D in module 'kwusbdll.dll'. Read of address 0000000. And then I will have to close the program in the taskbar. I have tried to run the software in the compatibility mode of Windows XP to no success. I have also tried to reinstall the program using the setup found here: http://eu.msi.com/index.php?func=downloaddetail&type=driver&maincat_no=132&prod_no=642 but the problem is still there. Is there a way to fix this problem, or perhaps another DTVR application I can use?

    Yes and yes.
I tried that program in the sticky, ScanChannelsBDA_UK, and when I choose my country (Australia) I get this error saying it failed to connect filters to graph. Here is the log if it helps:

  • Old MSI TV@nywhere and can I use TV@nywhere MAster driver???????

The driver for this card was aweful in 2002 and never updated. Buggy is an understatement. The remote always stopped working, Pvr was lousy, promised MPEG 4 was never implemented in code , essentially the driver on the original MSI TV@nywhere was never finished. The new driver looks alot better. If tv Master driver works on the old card I want to try reinstalling it.
    Thanks
P.S. If nobody has tried it I will and post the results.

you might find the tuner drivers will work, but as the Master card supports Stereo, the audio capture drivers won't work
if i were you i'd upgrade to a newer card; the TV@nywhere Plus is reasonably cheap

  • TV@nywhere and Stereo

Hi, I haven't been able to get Stereo to work with my TV tuner.  It is sold saying it supports it, but so far I haven't been able to figure out a solution.  I know that the standard drivers originally allowed the selection of Stereo but since the most recent up date it has been greyed out, and has never worked.  Are there any 3rd party drivers or actual solutions availiable for this problem?

Welp, I just tried SAP for the first time and it works just fine, the fonts look a little funky, but it worked fine.  I did have to temporarily toggle in the setup between antenna and and back to cable and I selected "turn on CC on mute"  then whenever i mute it, it starts up the SAP broadcast.  Once, again unless my ears are decieving me, I hear stereo when stereo is selected.  Please read the forum reply by captune dated today, he obviously did alot of research.  His facts make me want to believe my ears are decieving me.  Anyway, my eyes are not deceiving me, I can without question state, that SAP is working.  Here are my drivers info under Microsoft ME under control panel/system settings.  My guess they are no different then anyone elses.  capture, telsigmaco.ltd  7/16/02

  • TV@nywhere and Media Center

Does the original TV@nywhere (Not Master) work with MSI Media Center?  I get nothing but a blue screen on the TV while MSIPVS works fine.
If anyone has it working, what MC version?  What settings?

    Hi Bas,
    thanks for your answer.
DVB-dream is a software to view tv on your PC. I want to watch blueray, radio, tv, watch pictures,... -> HTPC.
For this MCE is a nice standard software. I thing the problem is not MCE but MSI! After the message "... no signal.." the MSI software have to be start under admin rights to work. For me this is a hint to a bug in the msi driver.

  • Can't get TV@nywhere to initialize

I'm hoping someone can help me out here.  I just purchased a MSI TV@nywhere.  I used to have a ATI TV Wonder VE, but wasnt' happy with the tuner quality.   I'm running WinXP Home.
Before installing the @nywhere, I did a complete uninstall of all the ATI drivers, MMC, everything - even cleared the registry of any leftover ATI references.  Deleted all ATI files from the various windows directories.  I had heard that ATI drivers don't really do a thorough de-install.
After installing the @nywhere and the MSIPVS, everything looks good - no yellow !'s in the device manager, but when I start MSIPVS, the InterVideo splash screen comes up, but that's it.   It just hangs there, and it doesn't look like the tv card is actually initializing.
I tried the beta drivers talked about on this board, and still nothing, I also tried installing iuvcr to see what would happen, it still nothing - it hangs on the message - "initializing a/v crossbar" or something like that.
I'm running XP Home - did a reinstall of  xp when I encountered this problem, but still nothing.
    Here's my setup
    WinXP Home
    ABIT Siluaro TI4200 vid card
Hercules Game Theatre XP 6.1 sound card
    ASUS PS533 mobo
The drivers listed in Device mgr under Sound, Video, and Game Controllers are:
    Audio Codecs
    Hercules Game Port
    Hercules Game Theatre XP 6.1
Hercules Game Theatre XP 6.1 WDM  Interface
    Legacy Audio Drivers
    Legacy Audio Capture Devices
    Media Control Devices
    MSI PVS Crossbar
    MSI PVS Tuner
    MSI PVS Video Capture
    Video Codecs
In the driver details under the MSI entries, there's the actual driver and a bunch of Microsoft programs - ksxbar.ax, ksuser.dll, ks.sys , etc.
I also uninstalled all the extra codecs that I was using with the ATI card, Dscaler, and Virtual Dub.
Also - I did put the card in a Win98 machine that I have, and it did install and initialize correctly there, so I know the problem is not the card itself.
I've uninstalled and reinstalled in all sorts of permutations to try to get it to work - everytime it looks like things install fine, but it never gets past the splash screen on the MSIPVS/Windvr.   If I uninstall the @nywhere drivers and just run MSIPVS, then it starts correctly, but of course gives me the message that TV-Tuner not found.
if anyone can give me some clues, I would greatly appreciate it.
    thanks!
    bobk

I'm not using SP-1, so that's not the problem.  I just downloaded the trial version of PowerVCR II, but basically the same thing happens as under MSIPVS Windrv - splash screen and then it stops dead.
In poking around in the Device Mgr, I do have one question maybe someone can answer.  Under the entries for the MSI PVS Tuner, Crossbar, and Video Capture - under the Driver details, the following files are listed (in addition to the basic CX88 MSI drivers.
    ks.sys
    lyuv_32.dll
    ksproxy.ax
    kstvtune.ax
    ksuser.dll
    kswdmcap.ax
    ksxbar.ax
    msh263.drv
    msyuv.dll
    tsbyuv.dll
    vfwwdm32.dll
The files are all version 5.1.2600.0 with the exception of msh263.drv which is version 4.4.3400
I tried looking up those files in the knowledge base at microsoft, and the only references I see to any of those files are under Windows 98, not XP.  I'm starting to wonder that since I upgraded from Win98 to XP instead of doing a totally clean install, that these driver files came along for the ride and now are messing things up.   (I know I'm probably grasping at straws).  So if anyone of you who have a working @nywhere, I would appreciate it if you could take a look.

  • TV@nywhere Master problems

I recently purchased TV@nywhere Master to use on my Dell Dimension 4550 which runs WinXP, and would like help with the following issues:
    •   The signal for the TV card is provided by an antenna however, it is not strong enough to reach the tuner’s threshold, so none of my channels show as available in SETUP. I have already downloaded and installed the three latest driver versions from the MSI website. Do you have any suggestions as to how I can remedy this situation? The same antenna provides the signal to our two TVs, and our reception is perfect.
    •   I have twice attempted to register this card on your website, and have been told both times that my sessions, which took about a minute, had timed out! Can you fix this, please?
    •   The radio comes on unbidden whenever I start my computer, and after it comes out of standby mode.

I have a TV@nywhere master and I live in the UK.
I do not have any problems with tuning the stations with MSIPVS. All 4 main channels work fine, it also tuned in to some weaker signals. The only terrestrial channel I can not get is channel 5 but that is because they is no channel 5 by aerial in my area.
You could try fine tuning the channel that BBC2 is on, it may help, how to do it is in the manual.
The drivers on MSI web site are not for the master (MS-8606) version they are for the original TV@nywhere and the TV@nywhere Master drivers are the same version number as the one on the website but have probably been tweaked to accommodate the new Microtune MT2050 tuner.
The only gripe I have about the MS-8606 is the drivers for the tuner. They do work BUT if you want to use any other software that works with the new CX2883 and MT2050 chips, you have to run MSIPVS first to get the tuner to work. The display within MSIPVS also leaves a lot to be desired especially after using Dscaler (no tuner - video-in only). Video-in is not a problem and works with most well know freeware/shareware software. The capture quality (which is my main concern) is excellent when using the higher setting. I have captured some footage of an holiday video that was transfered to an very high quality VHS tape nearly 12 years ago, and converted it to an SVCD. The quality of the end results is as good as the original VHS tape. I have also capture from the Tuner in DVD quality and it is almost undistinguishable from a real DVD`s play back and certainly better than some cheapo DVDs.
As the Tuner and encode/decoding chips are very new (product only released 3-4 weeks ago) support and new drivers will take time to appear, BUT even without the support etc. I can still see the quality that this card as to offer.

  • Tv @nywhere quality

I just installed my tv @nywhere and I must say the quality i'm gettin is absolutely horrid.  My ati all in wonder from 1997 does better.  I'm not sure if its the card I'm using but I am definitely going to exchange it, and if that still doesn't work, I'll buy the new version when it comes out.
And yes, I had stereo sound until I used the update!

Can U state more detail on this? (like what do U mean by horrible quality, do U mean comb lines/blurry/noisy?
And what software did U use? and SVideo/TV/AV input?)

  • TV @nywhere Captures --- DivX

Hey all... I capture HQ video through the MSI TV@nywhere and I was wondering if anyone knew what software I should use to convert the MPEG 2 to DivX 5.02.  I have been to doom9.org and have been looking around alot with no success.  BTW, do you think that for the filesize and quality converting from Mpeg 2 to DivX would be best?  Xvid is also a good encoder I have heard.
    Thanks,
    John

I use VirtualDub to convert from MPEG-1 (VCD) to MPEG-4 (DivX, xvid). Not sure if MPEG-2 is supported.

    http://images.partypeeps2000.com/image.aspx?mKMhudS0KFpGPO%2bldLcoDvLjO16YmyftaiG4gKUKsXA%3d
I have a msi tv card MS-8606. I have this for 2 years now..It NEVER WORKED. I have contacted msi support 'The Netherlanths' and ('US' recently) and they send me 2 different drivers (1 beta 1 official,) 3 MSIVPS ( 1 official, 2 beta 1 with freescan) and a program (dScaler). I have tried them all, in different combinations. The msi-support told me in my region, AMSTERDAM, many people have problems with this card. They told me 2 return the card and they would return my money. I never did that, I told them within a year I would call back 4 new drivers.
The beta drivers from them I used:

    MSI Mega PC 180
    AMD XP 2600+
    1 GB DDR 3200
    TV CARD: MSI MS-8606
    Installed driver - Sticky driver
Installed Software - MMCD III and Dscaler
OS: Windows XP SP1 With all updates (not SP2)

Yep, 3 days ago I installed windows but it installed on f: because of the smartcard readers (mega pc 180)...So I reinstalled everything even windows; now windows is on C: ...I followed the procedure...and I installed clean.
But I can't understand that Dscaler is just working fine except 4 the sound. I think the problem is MMCD III and MSIPVIS because:
    1. Dscaler is working
    2. 3 days ago when I saw the card wasn't working good. I installed my Pinnacle card on the pc. The card worked fine with it own programs but with MMCD III it didn't work, but I was able to select as source Cable.
And the only reason I bought this computer was because the remote control...And now I can't even use it.
