TV on the E71 (using WLAN)

Hi everyone...
I am looking for a good 'streaming' TV application on the E71.can anyone recommend one ?
I have tried the following :- FreeBeTv but it installed on the E71 then complained of not having an 'sccess point' set up and didn't run, so I had to remove the application !! I think this could be because FreeBeTv needs a GPS connection...
I am running my E71 purely on Wifi so I need a TV application that runs well on a WiFi link..
Can you sugget one please ??

I have been using an application called Live TV by Vimio. It gives you a choice of very few channels but, it works!. You can download it from here:

Can't connect to the internet using WLAN on my nok...

i tried to connect to the internet with nokia WLAN on nokia E63 but it says connection fail,please review to your network settings.when i changed my connection settings to WLAN,then i searched for the wireless,i found it and connected to it but still it won't connect to the internet but i discovered some settings on my phone under the acces points and i saw the wireless connection access already defined there so i clicked on it and found so many settings under it but don't understand any e.g pre-shared key e.t.c ... someone please help me. The pre-shared key is the password or passkey needed in order for the phone to establish a connection with the Wi-Fi source. This is explained more further on this page http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pre-shared_key
To setup Wi-Fi on your phone:
Open the WLAN Wizard and perform a scan.
To start or continue browsing the web using the access point of the WLAN, scroll to the desired network, and select Options > Start web browsing or Cont.web browsing . Enter the password of your router and proceed.
To view the details of the WLAN, select Options > Details . To save the access point of the WLAN, select Options > Define access point .

Cannot connect E71 using Wlan

Hi,
Since I have purchased E71 I have never been able to connect via Wlan. Are there any advance setting to be done.
Wlan get detected on the phone but when I try to browse using the access point it says cannot connect.

which security settings, you have enabled on your hotspot ?
Whcih WLAN standard is used (b\a\g\n) ?
What Router is used ?

My E71 uses WAP even when a WLAN connection is ava...

I'd like to set it so my phone ALWAYS uses WLAN if available and only ever uses WAP when there is no WLAN connection.
It's a new phone (to me, anyway) and I'm still getting use to the settings.
It's an Eseries E71.

Go to Web > Options > Settings > General > Access point - does it currently say "User defined" or "Ask on connection"? If says the former change to "Ask on connection" and then back to "User defined" to give you opportunity to choose WLAN access point.

Using Wlan in E71

Hi Guys,
I have recently bought a E71-1 phone. I have a few issues while connecting to my office network.
My office network is a WPA2-Enterprise/EAP-FAST with AES-CCMP encryption.
The EAP-FAST enhancements (CCXv4) has been disabled along with unathenticated provisioning allowed.
The browser needs a proxy to access the internet once the laptop is connected to the network
Having said that, I tried setting up the same on my mobile. I defined an AP with wpa2 and eap-fast only enabled but i could not connect to my network. Could anyone please let me know if you were able to connect to a similar network from your e71 phone? I would really appreciate your thoughts or pointers on this.

my problem is even worst i bought the E71 i thought that the problem was from the phone so went to change i here is the situation i try many times and still the same **bleep** i make a search for wlan found it connect my phone to it put in the web key and automatically the access point is being define i start web browsing and an error message sat unable to connect wlan not found do a search the wlan is still here and this happen to me now on 2 brand new phones
can anyone help?????

E71 switch off 3G to use WLAN only

Ive just purchased an E71. I only have a finite amount of download data on my plan (Virgin) and travel overseas a bit. On the iphone apparently 'data roaming' can be switched off, so the phone cant access its 3G network (say to get emails overseas via Virgin in Australia- VERY expensive) but will link to available wireless networks in a cafe, or library.
Can I do this on the E71? Make it download email only via local, wireless networks as opposed to Virgin's 3G network?

You should set your email to manual update and to set connectivity to "ask first".

on the connection window for when im connecting my pc to the net, using my phone as a modem, can i use the bt homehub through my phone as a connection for my pc to save my bill going up, ive tried to connect it, but it isnt working any one else had any trouble?

I have recently bought my E71 in Beijing (because I live here) and I can't access to internet via wifi/wlan! Below tools -> settings -> .... there is no wlan wizzard icon available? Why ???
What can I do or how I can solve this problem?

If you are referring to the software update, you may check the available update by using the Nokia Suite.

How to read Chinese though the E71.

I notice that the E71 doesnt support Chinese anyhow, but you are able to read or maybe send messages in Chinese using the PC suite, which correctly shows chinese on my laptop once synchronize them.

there is away to display chinese character but this requires u to paste the relevant file into the memory card under E drive resources/fonts(have to show all hidden files when accessing into the memory card when connected to the computer) do not install in the phone just incase there is error u could remove the memory card and rebbot
Search for 4 ttf file unicode (each abt 7.8 mb)

rename the to
nohindisnr.ttf
nohindissb60.ttf
nohundistb60.ttf

paste them in the directory as mention earlier resources\fonts (must show system files and folder to locate resources and create fonts if its not there)
turn off and restart phone it should work now but only with font size problem.
(try at ur own risk)

How to change the E71's default browser?

Even though the E71's default browser is not bad at all, I prefer using Opera Mini.
An example: the page [http://www.sei.cmu.edu/productlines/about_pl.html] just doesn't render ok in my E71 when using the default browser. The entire left side of the page doesn't show up. Needless to say that Opera Mini renders it nicely.
So, my question is: how do I change the browser used by the phone by default?

For the site you list in your link, open it with the default browser, and then zoom to 50%. It almost looks right.
There are a lot of sites that the default browser, and even Opera Mini 4.2, do not render properly.

Doesn't the e72 use a standard TRRS headset?

One of the primary reasons I switched from the e71 to e72 (a big mistake I am coming to regret now) is so I can make use of the 3.5mm connector.
Does it use some proprietary connector? Can't I use any 3.5mm TRRS headset connector? The iPhone headset is a 3.5mm one too, and the Blackberry headset is a 3.5mm one too, and the two of them are interchangable. However, neither of the headsets work with my e72, both are only being identified as headphones.
Why is this the case? Is there any headset I can use across all 3 devices ?

Which version of the E71 do I have?

I bought a E71 from Expansys via Amazon UK back in October, and it has the product code 0568325. But which version of the E71 is this? I ask because I thought I had the unbranded generic UK version of the handset, which is what I wanted, but I may have a varient made for the Carphone Warehouse. I've been trying to upgrade to the latest firmware but NSU stays resolutely stuck on version 110. Is there a list of the various product codes anywhere?

Setup Email Using WLAN Connection - E72

Hi.
Did anyone manage to setup a Gmail or Windows Live Email using WLAN connection?
1 - My internet connection has only the WLan connection. I removed my carrier internet connection.
2 - Using the E-mail option at the menu, I type my gmail user, my password, and then nothing happens.
3 - I tried doing this procedure without the SIM, using Offline mode. And again, nothing happens...
Does Nokia want me to use my Carrier Connection just setup an email account using their interface and software?

Yes for initial setup must use GPRS/3G from your provider. After the inital setup, it may or may not work with WiFi depending on your location.

GMT compatibility and the E71 in Israel

I am using the E71 in Isreal, now it is winter time GMT+2
but when I receive an invitation for a meeting using my Mail For Exchange application and confirm it from the Nokia, it is inserted to the calender 1 hour earlier !
For instance, if I received an invittion for a meeting at 10:00 it ends up in my calendar at 09:00 !
However, if I open the invitation and confirm it from my outlook - than sync the Nokia there is NO problem !
The Exchange server is also GMT+2 Jerusalem time.
Local support in Israel (Orange) said to try and set the time zone to another country - but the problem is NOT solved.
I had a similar problem during Summer time (we changed October 5th) when it was GMT+3, and I solved it at the time by setting the time of the phone to Nairobi - Kenya time which was also GMT+3.
Any help will be highly appreciated.

Thanks for the quick response, however, it does NOT help.
It solves only part of the problem, if I for instance insert a meeting in my Nokia, it will be done at the same hour at the exchange, however, when I open and confirm a meeting in the Nokia, a meeting request sent by another person - it will be inserted one hopur eearlier into the exchange.
As I wrote before, if I confirm the meeting from the Oulook first, it wil be snced properly into the Nokia.
By the way, my MFE version is 2.05 and I see there is a newer version 2.7 Is this something I should consider updateding / upgrading ?
