TV on the mini?
long story short, recently me and my dad re-routed the cables for our TV (we use atena) and we live an house where cable outputs arnt built into the walls, so we run most of our cables under the house or carpet. in order for me to get out of the idea of running a new cable to my room for my tv, i said "nah, i dont need TV in my room" but from time to time, i would like that option.
Just wondering if their is a free or subsrciption service to wath either local or network TV on my computer without hooking up any cables but just streaming it useing my broadband connection? any help would be....helpful.. thanks!
Hi Bruce,
I know that some networks do allow you to sign up and stream the tv feed live through your computer from the Internet but I realy don't know which services currently provide this feature.
Im guessing that the Microsoft Network is amongst those somewhere. have a dig around in Google.

Using S-Video w/ the Mini DVI to Video Adapter
I just purchased a MacBook last week and I also purchased a Mini DVI to Video adapter for it so I can use the built-in DVD player to watch movies on my TV. I have a composite to composite cable and that worked fine when I connected the cable between the Mini DVI to Video Adapter and my TV. However, when I tried to use a S-Video cable and connected that between the Mini DVI to Video Adapter and my TV; then I got no picture at all. All I saw on the TV was a picture of the MAC desktop w/o the dock and the movie or nothing else played at all.
Is the composite connection a better connection for the MAC, or, are there some settings I need to work with on the MAC to get the S-Video connection to work?I managed to figure this one out, by fluke. The MacBook has to be powered on and ready for user input prior to connecting the mini DVI to video adapter with the s video already connected to it, and to the TV. Once I did it this way, it worked fine. I just thought I'd share this.

My macbook pro no longer connects to my TV with the mini dvi to hdmi adapter. A while ago the computer fell down and hit the cable. How can I tell if the computer is working ok. Doesn't show mirroring any more. Was working while watching a movie but when I pulled it out from the computer and put it back in the system would no longer mirrorr the screen on the TV.
The best option is an appointment at an Apple store genius bar. The evaluation will be for FREE!

Does Thunderbolt work with the Mini Displayport to DVI adapter?
I just ordered a new 13" MacBook Pro with Retina Display to replace my Mid-2010 15" MacBook Pro. I've been using the Mini Displayport to DVI adapter to extend my screen to an older 20" Cinema Display. From what I can find online, and I'm here asking for confirmation, I should still be able to use the Mini Displayport to DVI adapter with the new MacBook Pro's Thunderbolt port. Correct?

My Macbook pro no longer outputs to my vizio led tv. It was working fine now I cant get any picture. It just says no signal. It is not the hdmi or the adapter because it works fine with my other tv. Any ideas on how to resolve this would be greatly appreciated. Please be as specific as possible. Thanks. BTW--I am using the mini dvi to hdmi adapter in case that was unclear.
Since you say that the same connectors work on your other TV is suggests that the fault is not in the connectors but your Vizio TV. I would check the settings on the Vizio TV. Verify that is is set to receive HDMI input. Perhaps you or some one else has inadvertently changed them. Pressing the wrong buttons on a remote control device can do that. (I am assuming no changes were made in SYSTEM PREFERENCES>DISPLAYS)

To capture the Mini-DV file through the 1394 firewire card from t
hii there!
first let mi make you understand what we people are doing ....
We people want to capture the Mini-DV file directly through the 1394 firewire card from the sony camcorder in to the MPEG2
format. Thent on the fly(i.e.during capturing into MPEG2) we also want to capture the metadata i.e (time, date etc. of the
original shooting event) into some text file. Our MPEG2 format requirements are: 8mbps viedeo,freq-48KHz,16 bit sterio,384
audio kbps, Deinterlace... we are using JavaMediaFramework-2.1.1e(Java Media Studio tool)..so we want to explore that tool
much more coz rightnow it's not supporting MPEG2(only supporting MPEG1) and also not supporting 1394 cpture card ...we want
the codec for converting DV-AVI to MPEG2 with date and time exctrated and much more explored details about JMf2.1.1 JavaMedia
Studio to get more familiar.....
for the above mentioned problem I am trying to add the mpeg2 codec inthe plugin of the jmf studio..and i have followed the
steps ..
Download the Codec from IBM
Extracted jmf.jar
Extracted codec.zip
Added files from codec folder to jmf folder
Made a jar out of it and name it jmf.jar
Replaced that with current jmf.jar (kept a backup)
Opened JMFRegistry and in "Plugins","Codec" and now unable to add " "
this becoz i am not knowing the exact way of recopiling that newly created jar file and because of that that mpeg-2 codedc is
not get added .....so i am looking forward for any help for the above mentioned problem!
I would be gratefull on getting ur help coz it's such challenging and techy concept to explore...
thanks..

I am able to connect to my Mac Mini on Back to My Mac through iCloud but the keyboard/trackpad on the MBAir or MBP with which I access does not register on the Mini. So I can see the screen but cannot interact with it. Mini works accessing MBP/Air and I can use Mini to input data or interact with screens of those computers.
Regarding your first question about bookmarks, I think you discovered the answer in when you pressed the address bar. The second tab there has your bookmarks.
As for the keyboard, I'm not sure why your Firefox is reacting so slowly; mine seems to show keyboards even when I don't want them. If you have accumulated a lot of history, perhaps that's an issue?
Did you use any third party software to move your Firefox data from internal memory to the storage card? -
Are They Doing Away With The Mini?
Okay, im not sure if im the first one to notice this but did anyone else see that the iPod store dosent even sell accessories for the Mini anymore? Are they trying to eliminate it all together? They should realise that some of their first customers before this iPod craze started still have them!!! Im really frustrated with the company, if anyone knows some good sites to find iPod Mini accessories EXCEPT ebay.com(ive been there 100 times) let me know. I have no intention of changing to the new and improved iPods because i love how mine is different.. some changes need to be made so that everyone that has an iPod can have some options!
Who Knows Windows XPI went to The Apple Store http://store.apple.com/1-800-MY-APPLE/WebObjects/AppleStore/
Towards the bottom of the page is a link to allow you to "Shop by iPod Type". Click on that.
You should see the newer iPod models at the top. Find your mini further down on the page and click on it. The Apple Store appears to have 188 iPod mini accessories for you to choose from.
Look for iPod accessories at places like j & r .com, amazon.com, macmall or dozens of other online outlets. Most local stores don't carry the older iPod accessories, or at least, not many accessories to choose from. It seems to be the common business model for hardware companies to try and make money from recent purchasers. -
This is the picture of all the ports from my iMac
This is the mini DVI to HDMI converter which I bought from ebay. And I have the HDMI cable to connect it to my TV
Could anyone please suggest me a solution how I could connect my iMac to the LG smart TV? Also I need to know if this transmits the audio as well to the smart TV?
Suggestions are welcomed. I really appreciate and thank you for your timeI would suggest looking into a Thunderbolt to HDMI connector. In this case, you may be able to use the TV as an external monitor. For this option, please confirm through additional research. I have not tested it personally.
You can also use an Apple TV, which connects with HDMI. In this case, you can use Airplay Mirroring. Not all Macs support Airplay Mirroring, so you need to check first. I have a Mid-2011 27" iMac, and it supports Airplay Mirroring. I don't use it often because my TV is in another room, but I just tried it and it worked. It had to change the screen resolution to work well, so I don't know if I would want to use it as my day to day monitor. http://support.apple.com/kb/ht5404 -

Hi kxh3011,
Thank you for using Apple Support Communities.
This feature is called closed clamshell mode. To learn more about using closed clamshell mode with an external display and how to set it up, please take a look at the article below.

Can the Mini DisplayPort to VGA Adapter for a 2011 Mac Mini be used with Windows 7?
This question concerns the Mini DisplayPort to VGA Adapter described at the below link:
http://store.apple.com/us/product/MB572Z/A
When running Windows 7 via Boot Camp on a 2011 Mac Mini, can the above adapter be used with a VGA monitor?Thank you for the confirmation, Mr. Peck.

The mini display to VGA adapter had stopped, whinle the Mini Display to HDMI keeps working fine. The minid display to VGA adapter was replaced and the VGA cable as well, and the problem is the same. This test was made with two diferent monitors with VGA entries. How´s that possible to happen? Is that a configuration trouble in the MBP?
The Apple´s customer support gave us the solution for this problem:
SMC reset
PRAM reset
The VGA adapter return to work properly aflter this procedure. -

Does the "Mini DisplayPort to VGA Adapter" work with all Samsung tv models?
Does the "Mini DisplayPort to VGA Adapter" work with all Samsung tv models?
It's a VGA adapter. Nothing special about that. If your Samsung monitor supports VGA then it will work.
But why not go completely digital and use a Mini DisplayPort to HDMI adapter to skip the analog conversion? It also supports passing audio over HDMI.
