TV-Out in MEGAPC-180

Hello,
I am writing you from Zaragoza (Spain). I've bought a MEGA PC Series (Model 180) trhee weeks ago.
I've installed WXP with SP1 and SP2 and all the utilities and drivers stored in your MEGAPC-CD. I have no problem with any driver: DDR-RAM, DVD, HD and processor (AMD 2800+), but I have missed days trying obtain signal from S-Video TV-Out's matherboard, and i have no image yet. (Nvidia's Software is installed too and I have no dubts with it, because I have experience with this drivers and software)
I've read the user's manual, and I've marked the TV-Out like PAL in the motherboard's configuration, but I have not image yet.
I didn't find anything about it in your webpage, and I bought your MEGAPC for connecting it to the TV, for using it like multimedia center. That's ver important for me, could you help me to activate the TV-Out's matherboard? where's the problem?
Thank you and I wait for your answer,

Hola,
Gracias y espero vuestra respuesta.

Hi!!
For Spain, you have to select PAL B/G. There're some resolutions allowed; since 640x480 upto 1024x768. I usually choose 800x600 and, for games, 1024x768.
Consider what Stu said; does your TV accept s-video input?
Are you connecting it to the right connector or scart? Does your TV work fine with any other PC TV-out?
In addition, can you see anything at the boot sequence? (MSI logo, POST messages, Windows logo etc.)
If you cannot see anything during the booting up, maybe your TV doesn't accept s-video, or the cable isn't good enough, or your motherboard is not properly configured (you must only select PAL B/G, any other settings are unrelated with TV-out), or ) your tv-out is faulty (improbable, IMHO)
Let us know the answer to these questions.
Good luck and regards!!

  • TV-Out on Mega 180 (Composite)

    Hi there,
I just received my Mega 180 some days ago. So far I'm really satisfied. I just have one problem an perhaps you could help me.
I at first used the S-Video out from Mega to my S-Video-Scart-In of my TV. That worked without problems.
Now I wanted to use the Composite out instead of S-Video out from the Mega 180. So I connected a composite-adapter to the S-Video port and connected a composite cable to it. Now my TV only shows the picture black/white.
I know that this is an issue connected with S-Video. So I changed in nvidia-driver the automatic detection to manual (composite). But whenever I change this, I just get a complete black screen. I tried this with many nvidia driver versions. All the same.
And now the really misteryous thing: when I de-install the nvidia driver (graphic) and start windows with standard vga-mode, I have a colored picture with the mentioned composite out without having changed anything.
Anyone has an idea? Thanks in advance.
    My Hardware:
    - MSI Mega 180
    - Athlon Sempron 2800
    - WinTV 350 PVR
    - 512 MB
    - onBoard graphicscard

I want to use composite instead of s-video because my tv doesn't support s-video. It only supports composite.
just re-reading this post has got me a little confused. are you now connecting to a different TV now?

  • MEGAPC 180 and regular PAL RGB TV

Hi, I was wondering if I can make the desktop in winXP readable on an ordinary RGB TV? Yet no monitor is installed, just a RGB TV. It is connected via the SVHS TV-Out connector to a SCART and at least all colours are shown, but it wont let me go lower than a 800x600 resolution.
I am aware this is not a typical megapc180 issue, but I am sure other people are interested in this too so they won't need a monitor.
My goal is to make at least the desktop readable so I can properly read the contents of MSI's MegaCenter III on my TVscreen. I do not use the megapc for games, for me it is especially for recording and viewing dvd's (divx, etc.).

    Hi,
800x600 is generally the highest resolution that can be used for TV out.
A TV set doesn't have enough horizontal resolution for more than about 800 pixels across, and even then under best conditions. The vertical resoultion depends on the TV standard, and is around 600 lines for PAL and 500 for NTSC.
If you find you can't read icon labels, etc. at 800x600, try increasing the font sizes - If using Windoze, right click on the desktop, select Properties -> Appearance and either look in the Schemes list and select one of the Large schemes, or work through the Item list, and increase font sizes where you can.
Incidentally, "RGB" implies separate connections of the Red, Green and Blue signals from the PC to the TV - which is fairly rare. A computer monitor has an RGB connection, but a TV usually doesn't. You are using "SVHS", aka "S-Video", or more technically "Y/C" to connect to your TV. This involves two signals, a "Y", or luminance, or black-and-white signal (roughly 33% Red + 50% Green + 17% Blue), and the "C" or Chrominance (Colour) signal, which is actually made up of two components, R-Y and B-Y. The TV has to separate the C signal back to the R-Y and B-Y, then matrix them with the Y signal to get back to the R, G and B signals. There will inevitably be some losses and errors in the encoding, decoding process; also the badwidth (relates to resolution) of the R-Y and B-Y signals needs to be limited before encoding, so you tend to lose fine colour detail. Still, at least it's not as bad as Composite video, where the Y and C components are combined into one signal, which have to be separated by the TV set back into Y and C before further processing. And it's even worse if your TV doesn't have an A/V input, and you have to use a VCR to modulate it onto a TV channel (RF Out), which must then be demodulated by the TV back to composite video before further processing! (I've left out discussion of synchronising pulses for simplicity).
Just a bit of background information for you, the test is on Thursday
    Cheers

  • MegaPC 180 - Programming LCD Panel

    Hi All,
I recently built my MegaPC180 and what a lovely machine she is too!.  My old machine sounded like an aircraft taking off!, this is nice and quiet with lots of mod-cons in a SFF barebone.
One thing I'd like to take advantage of is the LCD panel at the front.  I know the PCAlert tool uses this, and by the looks of things it doesn't make any direct calls to the dll file which I thought may be the API for the panel.
I'm very familiar with C++ and VB and want to use the panel in several utilities I've created.
I found the msidrvif.dll file in the Program Files\MSI\Common\Bin folder.  It exports the following functions...
    DIF_CheckHardware
    DIF_CheckMBType
    DIF_CheckModel
    DIF_CheckOEMModel
    DIF_FS_SetAPStats
    DIF_FreeDrvIF
    DIF_GetDriverSelect
    DIF_GetModelName
    DIF_GetVideoFormat
    DIF_InitCheckDevice

    DIF_InitDrvIF
    DIF_RD_AudioOff

    DIF_TV_AudioOn
    DIF_TV_FineTune
    DIF_TV_GetFreeScanStatus
    DIF_TV_SetChannel
    DIF_TV_SetCountryCode
The unfortunate thing is....I don't know the syntax of the functions, such as params, and returns.
I'm hoping someone from these forums, or from MSI technical could tell me the declarations so I can get over this hurdle?

    Hi Andy,
Perhaps you have already read the posts regarding control of the LED panel. Anyway, I have done a little research myself and was able to obtain the specifications of the Bluebird VL+ controller which actually controls all the pc-off functions (and the LED panel). In theory this controller can perform more tasks than MSI used!
I also contacted Liteon Optoelectronics for the design specifications of the MSI LED panel. Unfortunately they are not allowed to release them (prohibited by MSI). However, I found the blueprints of another LED panel from Liteon with a comparable product code. I think it is likely that Liteon used the same design basics when building the MSI panel.
You can send a p-mail when you are interested in these .pdf files.

  • Megapc 180: no screen after reboot

    Hi,
Do you guys have similar problems? Whenever I reboot my pc, my screen won't turn on. The rest of the pc is booting just fine, only my screen doesn't get initialised. This happens in 80% of the reboots.
I've checked my BIOS, my 'display first' is set to AGP.
As you can see below, i have a R9800Pro, but on my old pc (with MSI nforce2 mobo), i have never had this kinda problem.
Another thing, I read that many of you had problems with the eject button and a NEC 2500A. Apparently, I don't have that kind of problem, but whenever I press the ejectbutton and my drive opens, I have to wait a couple of seconds before I can close it. Is this by design?

Did you connect to a TV?
I had a similar problem whereby the monitor settings had switched themselves to use the TV as the primary display device and switched off the monitor.
I solved it by hooking up to my TV again and lo- Win XP appeared. Once in, you can change your display settings back to use your monitor as your primary display device.
If you have a TV permanently connected, it might only be a problem when the TV is switched on and the graphics adaptor detects it - hence the 80% incidence.
    Hope this helps,
    Grum.

  • Mega 180/Media Player/Graphic Card/TV-Out

    Hi,
after very long research I decided to use Mega 180 as a dedicated PC for media center purpose and to connect it directly to my TV (Siemens 100 Hz real flat 16:9) and to upgrade my second PC and to connect the two PCs wirelesly and to use Media Portal software.
And then I have started to read related posts and forums. But this time I learned that there are new issues I have to deal with.
    1. TV-out: The TV-Out of Mega 180 is not good enough on a TV. My question is do I have to buy another powerful graphic card? I need recommendation. My TV has composite and scart inputs.
    2. Media Portal: This software has lack of some features. If I use MCE 2005, will it be better?
    3. If I use a video converter, will it help me to find better picture on my TV?
Yes bodies, unfortunately there is no way to find the best solution. And I am at the final stage. If this solution does not run, I will give up.   I need your recommendations.

This is copied from another reply I made today. The Mega 180 can drive a TV just fine. But you need to spend alot of time making it work.
How you hook up to your TV depends on your available TV connections and your quality standard. The Mega 180 does have an SVideo output. I don't use this however. I have a VGA input port on my 42 inch plasma monitor. It accepts VGA 640 X 480, 800 x 600, or 1024 X 768 standard computer resolutions. It also accepts 480P or 1080i TV inputs using the VGA port. Many quality TV monitors have a DVI port or component video. These would require some sort of physical adapter to attach to a Mega PC.
So I actually run in 1080i mode most of the time. This makes DVD's and HDTV look really nice. When using the XP computer screen I keep it in 1080i mode but map this to 960 X 540 resolution using PowerStrip. This way I can read the text on the display without it being distorted. However this is pretty low resolution for most web browsers and email programs. So it is kind of cramped... When playing computer games I switch to 1024 X 768 computer mode. The good thing is the on board Nvidia MX440 graphics work just fine to generate all these modes. So I do not have a card in the AGP slot.

  • Meg 180 won't boot from HDD

Repair install of Windows XP appeared to work perfectly, but after install and removal of XP install disk PC wouldn't boot.  Noticed initially that IDE drive detect took approxiamtely 90 seconds.  Tried a repair of boot sector and MBR, no help.  Notice during MBR repair that drive was showing as HDD 2?  Attempted boot device order in all possible combintations, (CD, HDD0, HDD1, HDD2, etc,) no help.Moved drive to another computer, boots normally.
Attached HDD to IDE CD-ROM channel in Mega.  Drive detect occurrs instantly and computer boots normally.  I'd try swapping cables, but that requires more surgery than I feel comfortable with, considering the warranty.  Anyone else seen this problem?
Any or all suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

It turns out the Mega 180 primary HDD channel doesn't like Western Digital drives configured with the jumper in the Master position.  As Wonkanoby pointed out, the Western Digital drives are defaulted to Master with no jumper.  No other controller has appeared to care yet, but obviously the Mega primary channel does.  Thanks for all of the tips and especially to Wonkanoby who provided the info that cured the problem.  The Mega is up and running now and happily playing DVD's.

  • Problem with Dual Diplays

I have bougth i LG flatron L1720B and connected it to my MSI MEGAPC 180 I have a iiyama visionmaster PRO 451 connected from the start but the problem is that only the monitor on the primary monitor output is working och the secondary the monitors says signal out of range.  At the start of the computer both monitor have picture but as soon as I come inte to windows the monitor on the secondaty output goes blank or says signal out of rage. Any one else that have this problem and knows how so solcve it ?

if u have installed the nvidia display driver, u should be able to adjust dual monitor setting by going to the display properties, setting tab, click on monitor 2 and check 'extend windows/display onto this monitor' or things like that. i dont think u need to install the display drivers that came with the monitors, since windows xp will install the default drivers and the nvidia display drivers will handle the monitors through the display properties.
hope this is useful, cuz this is the only way i know. if still cant, u should ask again for help.
    cheers

  • Aging report in FIAR

I have created an overdue report from 0FIAR_O03 ODS.Currently the report using variable offsets to find out overdue amounts < 180 and > 180 days.
Now the user wants that instead of hardcoding 180 days, he wants to include the number of days in the selection screen.
For ex..if user enters 30 days in selection screen the report should get 30 days overdue report.
As per my understanding we cannot use varible offsets dynamically using selection variable.
Pls help me with logic to develop this report.
    Thanks in advance..

    Hi,
    1) Create a formula variable of user entry varibale say "ZFVUEKD" Formula varibale..select ready for input.
    2) Create a Customer exit variable for Key date "ZCVCEKD" wid following attributes... not ready for input and mandatory..
    Write this code in CMOD.
    DATA: offset(2)  type i.
    DATA: key_date like sy-datum.
    CASE I_VNAM.
    WHEN 'ZCVCEKD'.
    IF I_STEP = 2. "after the popup
    CLEAR L_S_RANGE.
    LOOP AT I_T_VAR_RANGE INTO LOC_VAR_RANGE
    WHERE VNAM = 'KEYDATEVARIABLE'.
    key_date = LOC_VAR_RANGE-LOW ."low value, e.g.20000101
    EXIT.
    ENDLOOP.
    LOOP AT I_T_VAR_RANGE INTO LOC_VAR_RANGE
    WHERE VNAM = 'ZFVUEKD'.
offset = LOC_VAR_RANGE-LOW. "Check this is correct in RSRT by debugging
    EXIT.
    ENDLOOP.
    key_date  = key_date - offset.
    L_S_RANGE-LOW = key_date.
    L_S_RANGE-SIGN = 'I'.
    L_S_RANGE-OPT = 'EQ'.
    APPEND L_S_RANGE TO E_T_RANGE.
    ENDIF.
Now, How to use this in query.
    1) create a your resrticted Key figure->
    netduedate >= ZCVCEKD;keyduedatevariable
    2) Creata a Formula->place that ZFVUEKD variable in formula area.
    and hide this formula.
First try to debugg in RSRT and them check whether this code...work
    hope i m clr

    Kannan K

    Kannan,
the error in your logs like "NoClassDefFoundError" etc. point us towards issues with jar files. either they are missing or not the correct ones.
A general practice in such situation is to
stop all servers except CMS,IFRS,OFRS > repair the base installation
    OR
If you have a working environment with the exact same patch, copy the 'lib' folder from "/bobje/sap_bobj/enterprise_xi40/java/" to the non-working server.
PS: please attach the logs to the thread instead of pasting the content.

  • Cisco ISE: How to identify/inactive old users?

    Hello,
I want to get all users / mac-adresses which haven't connected to out network since 180 days.
    How can I query that?
The report "Dormant Users" dont seems to be the right way: it displays current associated users which are inactive...
How can I purge Cisco ISE : cleaning it from useless, old, inactive mac-addresses?
Thank you very much for any answer

The only thing I could find was purging data in the MNT node.  The default is 90 days.  This doesnt apply because the profiles are store on the policy node.  I dont think you can in an automated form.
You could change the MNT to purge after 210 days and then run a report to see which macs have not authc in the passed 180 days.  That will require excel and some scripting.

  • Streams in standard edition

    Dear all,
11.2.2 standard edition rac on solaris 10. We have a remote site which has a standard edition rac . Now, there is a requirement to replicate the data.
We are planning to implement oracle streams .
    1) Is oracle streams free with standard edition
    2) can the complete functionality of streams can be achieved in standard edition
    3) can we replicate the complete database using streams or only certian objects ?
    Please guide
    Kai

    Dear Sybrand,
As always, I didn't read the reply. I completely ignore you and your replies. Please don't waste your time in replying my queries. You can ignore it, if not, you are just wasting your time .
Out of 5,180 posts of yours , am sure 99% will have some useless answers like this. So, am sure you don't know the answers or you pretend so.

  • PC Suite 7.1.62.1 will not Sync.

I reverted back to PC Suite some time ago after my disgust at OVI suite's need to ply me with advertising.  I love PC suite so I was very disappointed when I tried the latest version and could not sync.  I am running Windows 7 pro (32bit), my phone is an E63, and I am syncing with Outlook 2003.  Fortunately I have been able to revert to the previous version and all is working again.  Hope you can sort this out in the next version

Noticed that there is a newer version of PC Suite out, 7.1.180.46. Tried it hoping for a fix, but no, PC Sync still crashes in this version, too. So, once again, back to the last working version 7.1.60.0 (which I incorrectly referred to as .62.0 in my previous message).
Is that it, no more working upgrades of PC Suite for my phone/system anymore?
