TV out in Settings

I want to use the iPad to link to a TV through HDMI. The advice from various sources is to use the widescreen option in the Video section of Settings - but there are no TV options in Settings. All I have in the video section of Settings is Start Playing, Closed Captioning and Home Sharing. I can't find anything about TV anywhere in Settings. Any assistance gratefully received.

NTSC is the US standard for video broadcast signals (well, it was, the DTV transition that just happened actually switched us to ATSC, an all digital signal). PAL is a standard used in many other countries.

If you are having issues turning on Always Allow for cookies in Safari on your iPad, you may want to check to make sure that you don't have Private Browsing enabled, as noted in the following article:

Icloud is greyed out in settings can't access iCloud or Twitter

iCloud an Twitter are greyed out in Settings on my iPad. iTunes says that it was backed up this morning. I can not access iCloud on my pad. Anyonelse?

A little more info is needed. How are you trying to access iCloud (via contacts, calendar, mail app)? Also check Settings>Restrictions. Not sure if turning it on would cause this, but check to be sure its not turned on.

Appears that the Restriction that prevents changing accounts is set. Go to Settings>General>Restrictions. Restrictions is passcode protected
Forgotten RESTRICTIONS Passcode
- Restore from a backup that was make before you added the Restrictions passcode. If you restore from a backup made with the Restrictions passcode the Restrictions passcode is also restored.
- Restore to factory settings/new iPod.

Not sure if you mean the app settings within the app, or the actual settings app. It doesn't really matter anyway .... Close the app or apps and reboot your iPad.
Tap the home button once. Then tap the home button twice and the recents tray will appear at the bottom of the screen. Tap and hold down on any app icon until it begins to wiggle. Tap the minus sign in the upper left corner of the app that you want to close. Tap the home button twice.
Reboot the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider if it appears on the screen - let go of the buttons. Let the iPad start up.

Mail account is grayed out in settings

My current exchange account is grayed out in settings making it impossible to add another account or delete the current one. In addition, the current account often reports that an email did not download or that a message cannot be moved to trash. With the account grayed I am finding it difficult to change anything.

Make sure that Settings > General > Restrictions > Accounts is not set to Don't Allow Changes

You have to have a passcode enabled first. I was having trouble with this as well but I figured it out. I think it's because you will need the passcode to modify the fingerprint settings. Y'know, for security.

How to work out import settings?

Is there a way to work out what settings were used to shoot a HD video in from the file?
In an attempt to practice HD editing, I've borrowed some HD footage to play with. However, all I have at the moment is an SD card, the shooter doesn't know what settings it was shot at, ("whatever it came set-up as") or even the model beyond, "It's a Panasonic"
So can I work out what import settings to use to transfer this footage from the files contained on the card?

Yes, in FCP, you can select any clip and (right click) choose 'ITEM PROPERTIES' This should show the 'META DATA from the camera. But it will also show if the clip has been transcoded.
Or in QuickTime Pro (7), choose Window Menu and choose Movie Inspector, Properties

Lights-Out Management Settings - Confusion

Just installed my new Intel Xserve. There doesn't seem to be any documentation for Lights-Out Management settings. At first I decided to just copy the external and internal network settings for LOM. The assistant didn't accept that. Then I used another real IP numer for the external and different one out of my internal net for the second interface (server internal IP 192.168.2.1 LOM 192.168.2.2). To no avail. Whenever I try to connect to these addresses using server monitor I get no answer from the server.
Could someone please explain a typical setting for LOM?

I could not get your suggestion to work. So I called Apple. Together Apple and I could not get it working either.
So I am back to square one. The biggest problem here folks is the terminology. In the Server Assistant (that runs automatically after the server operating system has been installed) talks about "channels," not ports. I am making the assumption that they are talking about Primary Port and Secondary Port or Port 1 or Port 2. Geez, talk about inconsistency!
Tim: When you say your "secondary port," I am not sure whether you are referring to Port 2 on the physical server. I don't have an Ethernet cable running to, nor I do intend to, as this should work on Port 1, no?
I plugged an Ethernet cable into Port 2 of the server and still no dice. I can ping the IP address I put in Server Monitor for LOM on either primary port or "secondary" port from another computer. I just cannot use its IP address on a remote computer to get it working!
The Apple guy said on the phone that you need to use the LOM IP address, and alluded to the terminal to change it, but also inferred that this can also be done in Server Monitor as Tim spoke about earlier by adding the srever as local host (127.0.0.1).
Very frustrating... Other than this fault, I am sure that the server works fine, but I would like to have this ironed out before I proceed.
By the way, the settings for LOM are stored on the logic board and will be automatically filled in if you erase and install the Server Monitor hardware.
Some one please write if you get this more concretely nailed down, and of course, I will keep everyone apprised if I make any headway get this working.

"No Wi-Fi" - Grayed Out in Settings - iPhone 3G

I realize similar topics have been discussed, but I can't pinpoint this to a specific OS update- it's my wife's iPhone, and she didn't even realize it had stopped working. The option is grayed out in the settings, and no combination of resetting the network settings, hard resets, updates, or complete restores has fixed the issue.
Is there a way to figure out if this is, in fact, a hardware problem? How would I know what to replace?

It happens when the phone was upgraded to 4.0.1
I sent my 3G to provider and they said that it is a hardware problem. Anyway since my iphone it is not under warranty they do not replace the phone.
Trying to fix the problem I restored the phone twice yesterday. In both cases the wifi worked perfectly only for a few moments and then it was lost permanently.

I got an email from Apple Bug Reporter today that asks me to attach my device log to the bug report. Device logs can be retrieved from the iPhone Configuration Utility.
For the history, I restored twice the iphone today and the wifi is dead. Particularly after the second restore the sign in settings for the first time turns into grey: "No Wi-Fi"

About my program: It is an EXE item for PC settings, and I have add it to Control Panel. It can be find out in the Search box of Control Panel. But I can not find it in Search box in the Start Menu of Windows 10 OR the one in the METRO UI of

At begining I think as soon as I let it support the Search Box in Control Panel page, then it must can be find out in StartMenu or Metro UI. Because I have seen the original Control Panel items(Contained by Microsoft Windows OS) can support StartMenu
or Metro UI Search("Settings" Feild). and the descriptions in the search result are the same as those result in Control panel Search Page. So I guess they may share some configrations, such as the tasklink file?

I just signed up for Netlix...they offered in the "opt out" privacy settings, for me to download, for Firefox users, the Network Advertising Initiative, NAI,..how do I uninstall this, in simple directions please. use my email naumoff@email.unc.edu

DURIM - Okay. I would expect the "Cache Warning" message because your default directories would not be the same as the ones in the settings file I generated.
If you go back to the "7.0" directory and open the "Logs" folder, can you copy the "Audition Log.txt" file and send it as an attachment to [email protected]? We'll take a look in that logfile and see if it gives us more information about why this is failing now.
Also, do you have any other Adobe applications installed on this machine, such as Premiere Pro? If so, do they launch as expected or fail as well?
I do have the trial Pro version of Adobe reader, but I have not activated it, because I fear the same thing will happen did it. I cannot afford to activate the subscription for that product and take the chance of it not working either. I depend on those two programs religiously. Here is the files that you requested.
