I have gotten a VGA-TV-out cable thing: http://www.virtualinformation.com/ebay_ … ga-1lg.jpg
From what I have gotten my  "Intel Corporation 82945G/GZ Integrated Graphics Controller" Is a 945G that has tv-out. I however, in my limited knowledge have no idea how to use it.

Gusar wrote:Does the manual of your specific computer say it's supported? What Intel says doesn't mean much. They make a chip, but how that chip is wired is up to the manufacturer of the machine.
The manufacture was rather unhelpful, but after sorting through stuff It appears it isn't really supported. Thanks for the help, I guess I'm going to have to go buy a converter, or a new graphics card. (Unless someone knows to hack together a system that will allow it to display to a tv.)
Thanks all.

    Hi,
Sorry to say but as your Intel Graphics Chip is integrated into the Motherboard it is not an upgradeable component.

  • A PPC Motion user tries out the Intel machines

    Hi Guys,
Ive been seriously thinking about the intel,octo,3.0 Ghz machne as an upgrade to my current config of two PPC G5-quad, 16 gigs of ram-X1900, bla, bla, bla.
Recently I had a chance to work on 2 of those Intel machines... extensively. After several days of beating those things to death and running M3 thru the ringers this is what i came up with.
    Stability:
I find that the PPC quad was far more stable than the intels running M3, In fact I found constant stalls,, crashes, and tons of little bugs depending on what your doing.
    Real time playback.
Realtime playback kicked *** until I through a few layers of text at them. One project had over 90 layers w/ behaviors and stuff. and that really killed it.. actually that would kill most.
The intel machines ran cooler, and when it came to compressing tons of content it was awesome!
However, After nearly two days of trouble shooting machines, crashes, command delays and that kind of thing I was forced to take my work home to work on the PPC machines which yield a more constant, far less frustrating effortless workflow. Quick example: What took me nearly six hours to try and complete, took 4 hours delivered to client. because of the stability.
So, as bad as I want a few new Octo's stuffed with everything you can put in the thing... I think Im gonna wait for the next round of desktops. Maybe by then the marriage of software and hardware will actually meet somewhere in the middle for a less frustrating experience.

I was able to do it a while ago using Adobe Premeir and Windows Movie Maker (WMM) but Premeir would always change the dimensions of the video waay too large and when I resized it in WMM quality was lost and it was either too small or too large, I couldn't keep the same dimensions of the original film.
    Any help is appreciated.

The latest version (v2.1) is supposed to have universal binary support...

  • What is the best I7 Intel processor to get on the Macbook Pro 15"?  Are these processors 2nd generation processors?  Does it matter?  Should I wait until - when? - for 2nd generation processors to be used?  Does the 2.5 Mh processor make a difference?

I'm about to order a MacBook Pro 15".  I wonder if the I7 processors are 2nd generation or if it matters.  Also, is there significant benefit to getting the 2.4 or 2.5 Ghz processor over the 2.2?  I'm not a gamer or graphics manipulator, but I do look at (not edit) a lot of video for my work, and I typically multi-task, having many applications and internet windows open at once. Also, I will be running Windows for work access and applications.  Of course, I have little idea what makes a difference in my use experience, except I plan to get max RAM and probably the fastest hard drive.  Any advice welcome.

    Steve,
I appreciate your focus on assistance, and thank you for your help.  Couple of follow up questions:  What you said about the new specs suggests that the MacBook Pro line has recently been upgraded with, what, the 2nd gen Intel chips, some other incremental improvements?  So maybe it has paid off to crawl along with my old mac to get the latest tech.  For these kinds of upgrades, I guess Apple doesn't advertise that they have the latest chips (I've seen PC ads touting the 2nd gen chips, and checked out the Intel site, so that's how I became aware) and all?
I'm planning to enjoy this computer for quite some years.  Of course I will get the 3 yr extended warranty.  And I was planning to get the hi res antiglare screen: that seems to be the best of the options.  It looks like one can now get a faster 750 Gb fast drive, instead of having to settle for 500 in the faster version.  The cost does add up, but my feeling was to go for broke and get the best machine I can.  So does getting the faster cpu and hd and max ram (perhaps buying third party) and all make sense, assuming I can afford it when I add everything up, or is it like a moderately good guitar player getting a top of the line guitar he can't really play well enough to warrant it?  (I remember a story about a student under Segovia arriving with a very very expensive guitar when he was still early in the learning process; it may be apocryphal, but story goes that Segovia took the guitar from the student and smashed it to smithereens.  I assume that was not just because the student mistook the instrument for skill in playing it, but perhaps also because he would be too careful with such an expensive instrument, and fail to master it.  Maybe not a perfect analogy, but I could be mislead by seeking the "best barn burner on the block" when what I need is what will work fine for my purposes.) So I think your original response was probably right on in terms of what will actually be of use to me.
    Thanks again,
    David

  • Adobe photoshop elements2 on intel mac

I installed photoshop elements 2 to my intel mac & when I try to print (Epson photo 1290) a pop up message appears saying ' some PostScript specific print settings (emulsion, interpolation, calibration, encoding) will be ignored since you are printing to a non postscript printer'.
I have no idea what that means apart from more trouble from my intel mac since the programme worked perfectly well for years on my G4 imac.
The photos print but the darks come out too dark even when I increase brightness.
    Any ideas?
btw I installed PE2 until version 4 comes out for mac.

This message is not a "problem." You will always see
that message with any version of PS/PE when you print
to an ink jet printer. It just means that there is
some info, like emulsion, etc. that is not relevant
    to your inkjet printer.
It sounds like you need to 1. calibrate your monitor,
    2. make sure your images and your working space in PE
are the same (ie, that you are not working on sRGB
jpegs in the Adobe RGB color space), 3. Make sure
that you are not doing double color management for
printing (ie have PE set up to color manage your
printing and then telling your print driver to do the
    color management, too.)
    Thanks Barbara
I had never encountered the message on my G4 with OS9 so glad to know it's not that significant. The printer dialogue boxes I'm getting with OSX are different too & the only way I can select different papers is through 'more options' in the preview dialogue box & selecting color management. This presumably is what you said I shouldn't do! Also utilities(for checking ink status etc) doesnt appear at the top of the print dialogue box like it used to & I can only get that by going to applications/utilities printer setup page which seems a bit longwinded. My printer appears on the ok list that Epson put out about intel compatability so I'm still a bit confused about what to expect as I'm not familiar with OSX.

  • Solaris on older intel platforms

    Hi,
Can you tell me is there any version of solaris that can be installed on 486 or Pentium I platform. Thanks

    Hello,
I have a Pentium 200 with an old S3 video card, Panasonic CD-ROM, 3GB HD, 128MB RAM that, aside from the 3Com 3c905C-TX-NM problem, works great so far. The Motherboard is not on the HCL, but the CD-ROM and Video card are.
I'll be trying out an Intel NIC at the end of this week/early next week.

  • Intel cards and aironet problems

I have SSIDs configured on 1231's to support WPA/WPA2. They work fine with Cisco cards/supplicants but intel proset cards (2915ABG for one / I tried the latest drivers from dell and intel) seem to have issues. They will see the SSID and associate, but never pull down an IP address. ACS server shows it as a passed authentication, the AP shows it as associated and not authenticated. The AP config is below. Can anyone offer any suggestions or explanations? Thanks!
    ssid <ssidname>
    vlan <vlan#>
    authentication open eap eap_methods
    authentication network-eap eap_methods
    authentication key-xxxx
    accounting acct_methods
    broadcast-key vlan <vlan#> change 600
encryption vlan <vlan#> mode ciphers aes-ccm tkip

I ran into a similar problem on one of my ssid's using the Intel client. That particular ssid is configured for WPA-PSK (TKIP + AES). It turns out the Intel client profiles have a check mark for "personal security" or "enterprise security". For some reason mine would not work with personal security selected. When I enabled enterprise security and selected WPA and TKIP (WPA)it works fine. It does not make sense but that fixed my problem.

  • Original macbook sceen fades out to balck then it sleeps.

So i got the original macbook from when they first shipped out the intel processors. It's a core due 1.8 ghz.
The other day, all of a sudden, the macbook started to shut off it's backlight and the sceen fades then it falls asleep.
Sometime you can see that the OS is working even when the backlight shuts off, but even then, that fades and it goes immediately to sleep.
No matter the case, it always goes to sleep, even during a boot up, what's funny is that it would continue the boot up sequence when i wake it up.
I could tell that it's assleep because of the light in the front and the hard drive also gets parked.
    Please help.
What can i do on my own to fix it, and if it is a hard ware problem, what parts could i buy or how much would it cost to fix on my own or how much would it cost for apple to fix it?
    Thanks a mil.

  • How soon for an intel powerbook?

My new 12" powerbook arrived today, however I haven't opened the box amidst speculation that a new, intel powerbook will be launched on the 10th of january. Any ideas on how long it would take after a new powerbook has been announced before it would be availible to buy? And are these machines likely to be expensive (in comparison to the current price of a powerbook) when first launched? I'm desperate to get started with my lovely powerbook but would be devestated if there was to be a high spec and more future-proof new machine availible in under a weeks time!
I've heard that sales of powerbooks and ibooks have been down recently, in anticipation of intel. Should i return my powerbook and hold out for intel? Any ideas?

    Hi Lizzie;
I know that there is a lot talk about the Intel version of the Mac being release in a week or two. I seriously doubt that this will happen. Besides that when Steve announced the migration to Intel he said the first to go over would be the iBook and the Mac Mini. So even they are announced next week I doubt that it will be a PowerBook.
Personnaly I would go ahead and open your PowerBook and start enjoying it.

  • Intel and CS2

I am having a problem installing a legit copy of Adobe CS2 on my iMac. The installation seems to run very fast (too fast), but when I go into my applications folder, no adobe apps can be found. I have tried running the installer multiple times and have managed to correctly install bridge and photoshop once, but nothing else. I am sure it is a full version and that it is a mac version. any help would be appreciated.
    thank you

Same problem when I called Apple, I had to ask for a level 2 tech right away since the first person had no idea what I was talking about when I said I wanted to uninstall the recent 2006-003 update and her accent was very difficult to understand since I have a slight hearing problem.
Anyways, I am new to Mac computers, I am a long time Windows and Unix Admin, and multiple flavors of Linux for certain services. We were told we had to buy these Imac machines because we were bought out and the new company said we had to use macs, because everyon that does printing uses macs, I begged not to get the intels because of having to use Rosetta, but they would not listen, I almost quit over the ordeal since I was basically threatened and told to keep my mouth shut.
Regardless of all that, I am the one working countless overtime to get these Imacs working again. I ran into the problem when I did the 2006-003 security update. I tried an archive install which would not even finish, kept hanging on iweb. So I did an erase install, then installed Indesign CS2, and did not install the version cue, since I was already aware this was a problem. I then started updates one at a time, and tried created a PDF after a restart after each install. I did the quicktime install 7.1 first, worked no problem, and could make PDF's still, I did the 10.4.6 update and rebooted tried to make a pdf with acrobat and system hung. Restart in safe mode and remove the cache from library\caches\ and then reboot and as soon as I open acrobat the system hangs. Everytime I remove the cache I can then reboot normally until I open Acrobat.
I have noticed in my short time with Apple, that when something does not work, all I hear is that "well that isnt our problem, you should call adobe" or whoever the other program is. The plain simple fact, is that adobe is not the only program having problems, apple remote desktop is also having problems, and safari, and others, just search the message boards and you will see, but Apple refuses to resolve the issue, but if you dont install the update, then your system is open to security problems.
The fact that I can not just uninstall a secuirty update is unbeleiveable. The Apple level 2 tech told me that MOST updates including all security updates could not be uninstalled, you either had to archive or erase install the system to go back.
I think the Apple OS is great, but they should test products with their largest vender, Apple before putting out these intel Imacs, or security updates that cause problems. If Windows did this, Man everyone would blame Microsoft right away, but if it is apple, you end up with a apple community that is so defensive they will just say, well its not our fault its the program. Well guess what, a system without any programs is not very useful.
This whole mindset that I get from the other plants that windows crashes and I hear them joke about the blue screen of death and garbage like that is rediculus. I havent seen a blue screen since windows 98, until after the apple update that gave me the blue screen, and all the talk about how insecure the windows machines are. They are only insecure if an admin doesnt do his job. If he allows users to be administrators or doesnt do any updates for 6 months. I have numerous windows machines on this network and they run flawless, no virus, no spyware, no problems. 5 Windows servers, and 25 linux boxes running as thin clients booting to a windows XP remote desktop. I have had to tell people how to restart their computer since they forget and leave them running constantly, of course, I network boot them and restart for needed updates, but they forget how, because XP is solid.
So, sorry for the rant, but basically this is not acceptable for Apple. They need to fix their product and take responsiblity for problems, if they want to gain market shares above what they have, they will run into the same problems as microsoft, and they will be forced to make there machines run with certain required programs.
So, does anyone have a fix for this problem, besides dont use acrobat or dont install updates?

  • Intel Mac?  End of Windows-Apple compatability issues?

So, i'm a noob in the world of macs. when apple comes out w/ intel based notebooks and computers, will this mean you will be able to run pc only programs on the new intel macs? educate me, i've tried to research my question, and pretty much came up w/ no straight forward answer.
    -Ian

thanks for the responses. if you have anything else to add, please do so.
the main reason i bring this up, in which you can see in my other thread i posted, i'm looking to buy an apple laptop. but as a student majoring in electrical engineering, there are compatability issues. nonetheless, i'm pretty much set on buying an apple laptop, despite the issues. i will be doing what ifelix has stated, and use vpc to run any programs that i need to. and if worse comes to worse, i still have a desktop pc running windows, so i can just use that if vpc isn't working out for me.
seeing as to how i'm already writing in this post, i'm going to ask some questions:
i plan on buying a powerbook- faster, etc. but if i chose to buy an ibook, will that be able to run vpc as well as the powerbook? would i need to just throw in some more memory to get it up to par w/ the powerbook? b/c i love the design of the powerbook (a couple of my friends have one) but the ibook is like a couple hundreds of dollars cheaper.
throw in some knowledge if you can.
    thanks again

  • Compiling PPC-only on Intel

I only own a Intel-based iMac, but I want to test my customized Torque Game Builder engine compiled as a PPC application to verify that my code works on that architecture. However, when I compile with just the PPC option selected, the resulting program I get is Intel (according to the Finder's GetInfo command). When I compile with both checked, I shows up as a Universal application. When I compile with just i386 selected, it shows up as Intel as well (as expected).
So, how can I get XCode to compile the application to target the PPC architecture only? Alternatively, is there some way I can override the default behavior and run a Universal application as a PPC application under rosetta?

Thank you all for your replies. However, I think there is a deeper issue at play here. For some reason, when I rebuild the application now, it will only produce Intel-only versions (for the debug target), no matter what I select. It seems that my changes made to the project's configurations are not taking effect in this case. I've tried doing a full-clean and restarting X-Code, but to no avail. To make things even more quarky, the debug build comes out as Intel-only, but the release build comes out as Universal. Its possible that the X-Code project file provided by the makers of Torque is somehow interfering with the build configuration settings, but I'm not sure how that could be. Anyone have any ideas why X-Code would behave this way?

i burned a dual layer disks with idvd 6.0.3 and the video stalls about 20secs in, and then when it uh, "unstalls", the audio and video are totally out of sync. this goes on for the whole 90 min movie. if i play a scene from the scene selection menu, it works fine. also, it works fine when i play the movie from the project file from either imovie or idvd. its only the final burned product thats affected. i tried deleting the "encoded assets" and burning it again, which didnt work, same problem. finally, i tried both disks on a settop dvd player and apple dvd player application on a few different computers.
dont know what to do. the idvd project file is working fine untill i burn a disk. the problem is only on the burned dvd. so i guess i need to trash my whole project (AGAIN!!! YAY!!!) and start over (AGAIN!!! YAY!!!). wow, ive never had so many problems with an application before in my life. i dont have much hair left to pull out.

  • Intel SSD Toolbox work with T510?

I recently swapped in an Intel 320 series 300gb SSD in my T510.  The drive works great, and Windows recognizes it as an Intel SSDSA2CW300G3.  But the Intel SSD Toolbox application doesn't see the drive (or any drive, since that's the only one in the system).  I've tried the usual uninstall/reinstall, reboot routines, with no effect.  A post somewhere suggested that turning off ACHI in bios might help, but when I did that, Windows wouldn't boot.
I have the same Intel SSD on my desktop, and the Toolbox application works fine there.  Both are Win7-64 machines, and in device manager, both show the same Microsoft driver (6.1.7600.16385) and the same hardware ids for the drives.
Does anyone know if the Intel app works on a T510?

I tried Intel’s online chat support and encountered a helpful tech who took me through updating drivers and trying a couple of other pieces of software.  It turns out that Intel’s Rapid Storage Technology applet sees the drive fine.  So does SSDLife Free, which assures me that my drive is in excellent health, should last until 2020, and has Trim enabled.  But even though no other app has a problem seeing the drive, and I have new drivers and an updated Lenovo bios in my T510, Intel SSD Toolbox still can’t see anything on my system.   For the moment, I’ll just live without Toolbox.
