TV Out with Ipod Classic

Does it absolutely need the apple cable and dock, like the Apple Universal Dock, because i bought one the dynex and when i put my tv out On, and i play a video or a movies, it says TV Out Enabled...Please Connect Video Accessory, so do i have to bring my dynex to the store to change for the apple one?

sadly yes. there are a few docking stations that seem to work, but I heard of no tv cable that works with the classic except the one from apple.
but note this: as far as I know (not completly sure, but pretty much) instead of the tv cable you can use the apple docking station and just connect an s-video-cable to it. since the docking station costs exactly as much as the cable, maybe you prefer this.

  • Problems in compatibility of iPod radio remote with iPod classic 160 GB

    Hi all,
I have just bought a iPod classic 160 GB and want to buy a iPod radio remote as well. However, after I have done my research, I find the radio remote is not compatible with iPod classic perfectly…
Do you think it is a good idea for me to wait a new radio remote (maybe) or later Apple will release update?
    Thanks

I use my Radio Remote with a Classic; it does everything that it had with my 5G-Video EXCEPT it will not allow me to set radio stations, either with the Radio Remote's control or the iPod's control.
I have spoken with an iPod specialist (Apple Care) and according to him Apple has acknowleged less than 100% compatibility/functionality with the Radio Remote and the Classics. One of the reasons, he stated, was that several 5G-Video iPods were "getting fried" when the Remote was not fully connected to the docking-port. So Apple has decided to reengineer the port [for better a connection, I gather]. What puzzles me the most about the new generation of iPods is why they were rolled out without warning customers that their Car-Charger, Video Player, dock, AV Cable, or APPLE'S OWN Remote will not play nice with each other!
This go around, it's find out the hard way.

  • Ios 7 not compatible with Ipod classic

Ever since Itunes updated to IOS7 my Ipod classic that has been completely reliable for about four years is now unable to sync. I get a wide variety of responces from itunes while trying. It says the disc is not located, compatable, or sometimes it pretends to sync but only about 20 songs out of my 8,000+ songs were synced. I've tried everything from restoring (about 8 times total), trying to fix any bugs through my windows7 on the device, and only attempting to put on certain playlists- only to have the same results.
I do hope that the Apple people know of this problem and are trying to resolve it because I would be very irritated to find that I can no longer use my Ipod. (its 160 gig)
-If you know of anything that could help, I would greatly appreciate it.

iOS has nothing to do with the iPod Classic, it is used on the iPod Touch and iPhone.
Your Classic uses firmware (the operating system) 1.1.2. Nothing whatsoever to do with iOS.
I suggest you have a browse through the Classic discussions and iTunes discussions for anything concerning problems with iPod Classic syncing, as I have noticed a few posts on that topic. I have not experienced any issues myself with my iPod Classic, running 1.1.2 for PC.
Since there has been no update to the iPod Classic's firmware (operating system) for quite a while, the problems that I have noticed in the discussions, that mention partial Playlist syncing, additional songs not being synced etc. are more likely to be associated with updates to iTunes, which is now on version 11.1.38.

used wrong charger with ipod classic, now it wont turn on, displays the low battery icon even though its connected to the wright adapter.
    Can anyone help ?
    please?

WHow long have you left it to charge?  Have you tried resetting it after a short period of time to see if that can help jumpstart the charging process? To do this, press and hold both the Select/Center and Menu buttons together long enough for the Apple logo to appear.

  • Video out from ipod classic

OK, so I have an Ipod Classic. I jsut got the DYNEX IPAVC cable, and that doesnt work (no video, audio only). I also have an Accurian Dock-same deal, no video, only audio. Ive read a bunch that the Classics require newer hardware to get video to work. However, it seems like all the cables on the apple store that should work have been discontinued? How on earth do i get the video to play on my TV? Please help...thanks....

ill have to check that page out and see. i was on this page
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1454
and the composite and component cables say no longer available
    Apple Composite AV Cable
    (part number MB129LL)
    Apple Component AV Cable
    (part number MB128LL)
but it looks like you are correct. thats cool.
I had the TV Out setting to ON or ASK, and when i would do that, it would ask for the video out to be plugged in, even though they already were plugged in. I saw someone else had that same issue. I think its that these cables (The Dynex), even though they are advertised as such, do not work with the classic.
EDIT: Is all i need the composite cable? I dont need the dock, correct?

  • Need help with iPod classic/Alpine stereo deck interface

    Hey All-
I have installed a brand new Alpine CDE-143BT stereo deck in my car.  I have a 160gb iPod classic that I connect and control via the iPod sync cable, directly into the USB port on the deck. I currently have 113GB of music on the iPod.  The deck is less than 4 months old, and the iPod also has the most current software on it.
When I do an alphabetical search for Artist, Album, etc. I have noticed that not all of the letters in the search take me to that letter group.  For example, when I do a search for "D" it goes to "The Crystal Method";  "M-T" it takes me to "The Kinks", and so on.  It seems to be worse with an Artist search over Album search.
    Any suggestions?

If you have full resolution copies of the photos on the iPod have a look here: Apple Knowledge Base article - Use Disk Mode to copy photos from iPod
If not, there are a few programs out there for recovering photos from an iPod, have a look at the ones below. If you search the internet you can find more. Just be aware that what you'll be recovering will be photos optimised for the iPod so they won't be the same quality as the original full resolution versions:
Keith's iPod Photo Reader Mac only
iPod Photo Liberator Mac & Windows
TouchCopy Mac and Windows Versions (iPhone and iPod Touch compatible)

  • Video won't play on TV with iPod Classic

I just got the Apple-brand proprietary component video cable (connects at the docking port, not the headphone jack) to connect my iPod Classic to the TV and watch movies that way. The sound comes through great, but the video appears scrambled. I've checked all settings (TV out, format, NTSC, etc). The TV I'm connected to is a standard definition TV with the appropriate component video inputs. The movie I'm trying to watch was purchased through iTunes and plays great on the iPod.
I've searched many posts and it seems that most are connecting the wrong type of cable, which doesn't help me. Any ideas on what I'm doing wrong?
    Thanks!

Unfortunately iPod classic does not allow movies, only video podcasts and TV shows.

  • Using Video with iPod Classic 80GB

    Hello All,
I am James I am a new user with the iPod, I have a Classic Black Colour, 80GB. So far I use it for muisic, Photos and wanted to watch movies. Does it support movies at all? I put some video clips in mp4 format, itunes converted to a suitable format but then When I watched it, I could only hear it with a picture displayed and no movie loading. Is this normal? or am I doing something wrong?
Another thing is that I don't have a proper user manual? Do you know where I can download one?
    regards
    James

On your iPod go to "Videos / Video Settings".
Then select "TV Out" and either set it to "off" or "ask".
Also, make sure you are accessing the video through the videos menu. If you have a video mixed in an audio playlist and you access it through that, you also won't be able to see the video.
Here's the PDF for the iPod Classic user guide.

  • [PLEASE HELP!] Problems with iPod Classic 160GB.

Okay, I was about to sync my iPod Classic 160GB and go to bed. I plugged it in and everything was good. I am not sure if it was syncing yet, but it fell off the cord because my HP laptop moved. I wasn't worried at the time, The apple screen came up so I pressed Middle Button+Menu to reset it, then I plugged it back in. When I plugged it back in it said I had to format the drive in G.. The screen of the iPod said Connected Eject before disconnecting and had the circle arrows like when it is loading. It seems to be working fine when I unplug it.
But anyways, When I unplugged it a second time (I did click Disconnect in the toolbar on the actual device, not in iTunes) it didn't work again, and it brought up the grey apple screen again, then went to the language. so I plugged it back in. Then I said OK to the reformat. I clicked Default settings to the format and left the Volume Label blank because I don't know what that is...
It said WARNING: Formatting your iPod will delete all files on it, or something along the lines of that. so, I said okay, I'll just resync it, just get on the reformat. When I clicked format it said that it couldn't format my iPod... So, once again, I disconnected it, ejecting from the actual device in the toolbar, and it was absolutely cleared asking me for the Language. It keeps doing this every time I plug it in, and even when I switch USB slots. it wont read into my iTunes either.
I am really sad, and please answer because my iPod is basically my life, this is my worst nightmare come true.
    PLEASE ANSWER QUICK, Thanks...
    -Fess

  • Weird problems with ipod classic 80gb, hdd's gone?

Hi, hope u could help me.
Excuse my not fluent english, I'm not british/american so I will try to make myself as clear as possible. Thanks
First of all, got iPod classic 80gb, systems Vista/XP, was trying to cope with this problem on both computers, but ran out of ideas, so decided to make a topic on Apple forum.
Few days ago my iPod was working fine, then I put some stuff on it (put them in 'Notes', using iPod as a pendrive) and weird things started to happen. Maybe it has something to do with it, don't know, but will try to write as many details as possible.
When I connect my iPod to the computer (i tried on 3 computers), every time my Windows doesn't recognize an iPod (computer sees something has been connected, but doesn't see what). So if I go to 'Computer' I even do not see an iPod disc.
I can't open iTunes when iPod is connected, but once I disconnect my iPod, iTunes opens immediately. If I open iTunes before connecting an iPod, iTunes works fine but it can't see an iPod as well. (I used an option with checking connection with iPod but it sees nothing unfortunetely).
Later, when I want to disconnect my iPod using 'safe remove hardware' it doesn't work, just hangs.. so I have to unplug my iPod and once I do it, it immediately appears 'USB xxxxx now can be disconnect safely' (something like that, very similiar to the iTunes case).
When I disconnect my iPod, it just hangs showing 'Connected, do not disconnect', sth like that, so I got to restart it and then works fine.
My iPod works fine without connecting to the computer, everything is just fine.
Any ideas? Already tried to reset settings on iPod and tried to re-install iTunes, but I guess problems lays somewhere beetween iPod and computer which doesn't see my iPod.. Also I tried to re-install USB slots/drivers, didn't help.
    Thanks in advance.
    Cheers, Robert.

When I had Windows XP on a Lenovo, I also had a U2 20Gb iPod...The problem was, believe it or not, the battery! I took it to ipodrepair in Toronto, and they said there was some servo or switch that was blown. It couldn't charge properly and when it was connected to the computer, it went into limbo - not able to charge, not able to load the ipod.
So, check with repair if you can...It may be the battery, even on a new one!
    Good Luck!

  • ITunes won't sync with ipod classic, keeps asking for authorization

I have a brand new Macbook Air. I transfered my iTunes library from my old mac to the new one. However, some songs weren't on the old computer, they were only on the iPod classic.
When I try to sync the iPod classic, it tells me 539 songs aren't on the new computer, should it sync? I say yes. Then it says that the computer is no longer authorized. I fill in the authorization with the correct userid and password (it comes prefilled with a very strange userid that I've never seen before.)
It tries to sync, then I get the same message, that the computer is no longer authorized.
I'm assuming there's a certificate or cookie some place that's out of wack -- can you tell me where it is and I can go delete it?
    Thanks
PS. I was able to successfully sync my iPod Nano to the new computer without this issue at all. Then again, it didn't have any songs on it that weren't already on the new computer. I haven't tried syncing my iPod Mini to the new computer yet.

Click here and follow the instructions.

  • Does Apple TV work with iPod Classic?

I was told by an Apple Store person on the phone that Apple TV will allow me to get my iPOd to work on the Tv I purchased the next day.  Then I come to this website and it does not mention iPod Classic.  DOes iPod Classic work with Apple TV?  From my understanding Apple TV allows access to a person iTunes library and actually uses iTunes rather than the ipod.  So I am not sure why it would not work with an iPod classic.  Please advise.

    Winston,
So what does this mean?  You never stated weather or not IPOD Classic will work with Apple TV.  It insinuates that Classic doesn't run with iOS, but doesn't state it.  Why can't Steve's question have a yes or no answer?  Do you work for Apple?  Apple has a terrible reputation for not fulfilling implied functions.  If it requires a lot of headache to make it work with Classic, then call it out clearly on the box.
    To anyone who knows;
Is the answer "yes"......"no".......or "not without installing ?? application found ???"

  • ALT. SOLUTION !!! SONGBIRD - no proB with ipod classic  in Windows XP SP2

    hello friends...!
atlast i have come out of the APPLE AGONY http:// new ipod classic not recognized in itunes + itunes 7.6 installed but not opening in windows XP ...

just go ahead with - http://wiki.songbirdnest.com/Docs/IPodDeviceSupport
may be after waiting for next few months(?!!) for the APPLE designers to fix their itunes 7.6 goof-up with windows XP or with new ipod classic , i may try next itunes version....though i have not a bit of interest left to tune in with "itunes" ;-(
as of now- i hv, at least, started enjoying my ipod classic w/o any troubles ;D
Hope Songbird brings smiles on your faces too...Go ahead..
    God Bless ITUNES 7.6

    Hi,
I ran into this a few months back... and ultimately i posted some how-to's on here... but basically something got botched with the isntallation... and what i learned thru pain was that un-installing and re-installing wasn't enough because the un-install process did not remove (registry entries, files/directories, services, ports, etc... in order to make for a clean reinstall).
I also learned that the downloadable software does not have all of the framework needed for communication.  So I had to find my original install disk and i had to go thru a very painfull (30min to 1hr) search and destroy registry mission... and other software removal steps.  Once i got the software off completely and re-isntalled the sol man software worked without issue on detecting and finding the device and using the software.
Now since then i read in another article (you can find it)... that HP provided a 2nd more advanced removal tool... but I'm not sure how well that works...
Again if you search for my posts i think i put everything in there that you need to do.... and i do agree that I will never by a nother mid grade small office printer from HP... hardware is fine but software support and workability is complete *#&%)#&

  • Do you have trouble with iPod Classic and Ford's SYNC?

Anyone have trouble with Ford SYNC recognizing iPod Classic? When I first bought my Lincoln my iPod Classic worked perfectly--just like it should with Ford SYNC. But a few months ago, when I plug in the iPod using a USB cable I get the message on Ford Sync that says, "incompatible device". At first I thought it was a ford problem so I began testing using a 2010 Buick and a 2010 Lincoln Navigator. My iPod classic doesn't work in either. However, a iPod nano works perfectly in either car. Also if I put some of my music on a flash drive it works fine in the Lincoln. So, I'm convinced that the problem is some type of update that occurred to my iPod or to iTunes.
I have tried several iPod Classics and several USB cables so it is definitely aiPod Classic software problem. By the way, my iPod Classics work fine by themselves--just not through Ford's SYNC.
I'm pretty lost as to possible solutions.
    Thanks,

I have done some experimenting and testing with my old Classic iPod that uses operating system 3.1.1. I don't think this operating system has changed. However, later generation iPods such as nano, shuffle that use a different operating system seem to work absolutely perfectly in my 2010 Lincoln Navigator, especially the ones without a hard drive (i.e. flash drive). My conclusion is that the Ford SYNC updates have somehow not been backward compatible with the older operating system. I know this can be attributed to Apple for part of the problem but I suspect that Ford somehow did not do enough testing with the older iPod operating systems. Turns out there are probably 7 or more operating systems on iPods and while you would assume that "backward compatibility" is a no-brainer, that seems not to be the case with second party vendors such as Ford SYNC. Personally, I have given up trying to solve this problem and have gone to flash drive and a "line in" option. My old Classic iPod works exceptionally well, plus I have a spare so I can probably use these thing till "H freezes over". Being a older retired American these things may actually last a life time!

  • ITunes 11.2 sync issues with ipod classic 160gig

I have many Macs, and I have had issues in the past with my iPod classic 160 gig not being fully recognized by my main computer (MacBookPro 17") running itunes 11.2 and OS 10.6. Basically itunes freezes just after my ipod comes up on the sidebar, I can open force quit and itunes is not responding. I have tried using other cables and it doesn't help. I'd like to wipe the drive but I don't know if it is possible without connecting to a computer and all of mine won't initialize it.
What can I do to even start over and load all my music over again?

I figured out how to put it in recovery mode and I'm starting over, this ipod is more work than it's worth.
