TV Resolution Setting on AppleTV

I recently purchased a new Home Theatre Receiver with HDMI connections. I attached my AppleTV to my receiver via HDMI. Then have one HDMI cable out from my receiver to my TV. Since doing this I have noticed that each time I opt to watch my AppleTV my TV resolution has defaulted to the 720p setting instead of the 1080p setting I want. The only other change I made was was prior to this I used an optical audio cable and now I don't have to. Thanks for any input or advice.

While I do not know what your technical problem might be, I'll just mention that the AppleTV's maximum resolution/capability is 720p. So it's not likely you're going to miss anything with your TV at that setting.

  • I cannot enlarge photos on Facebook, I only get a BLACK, BLANK screen when I click on them-someone suggested it might be "Screen Resolution Setting"? I've already uploaded new firefox version. Please help!

I am not able to ENLARGE photos on Facebook, this means photos that friends post on News Feed & photos that I post in my FB photo albums. I only get a BLANK, BLACK screen when I click on individual photos. A friend suggested that I upload the New Firefox, and I did this today, but it did not resolve problem. Friend also suggested that it could be "Screen Resolution Setting"?? OR "Data Rate" too slow?? I do not know how to check these features? Please help! If it could be something else, please let me know. Thank you for your time & help!

Start Firefox in [[Safe Mode]] to check if one of the add-ons is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Tools > Add-ons > Appearance/Themes).
    * Don't make any changes on the Safe mode start window.
    See:
    * [[Troubleshooting extensions and themes]]
You can use these steps to check if images are blocked:
    * Open the web page that has the images missing in a browser tab.
    * Click the website favicon ([[Site Identity Button]]) on the left end of the location bar.
    * Click the "More Information" button to open the "Page Info" window with the Security tab selected (also accessible via "Tools > Page Info").
    * Go to the <i>Media</i> tab of the "Tools > Page Info" window.
    * Select the first image link and scroll down through the list with the Down arrow key.
    * If an image in the list is grayed and there is a check-mark in the box "<i>Block Images from...</i>" then remove that mark to unblock the images from that domain.

  • Display resolution setting

Somehow I changed the resolution setting for the display on my MacBook. Now I'm not sure what to set it. I currently have it on 1280 X 800, but I'm not sure that is right. Any help will be appreciated.

I've been dealing with the same issue. I can tell you if you go into start, control panels, displays, settings and change the display to the next setting down - maybe 1280 x 769 (guessing) you will get a much crisper display. My question is how do you keep those setting so you don't have to reset the display each time you boot to XP???
    Good luck,
    Bill

  • How to set the AppleTV to output PCM DIGITAL via toslink

how do you set the AppleTV to output PCM DIGITAL via toslink - my amp can only recieve PCM audio via toslink cable

I am having the same problem. I bought an optical-analog convertor from Amazon (SANOXY) and had Onkyo try to help me set it up. No luck. I am going to try a Monoprice version. I was able to output audio through my DirectTV box to the Zone 2 speakers, so that isn't the problem. I was able to hear the music from my iMac through the AppleTV/Onkyo receiver on the 5.1 side but was unable to output it through Zone 2 to the speakers.
    Very frustrating!!!!

  • Automatic TV Mirror resolution Setting

Whenever I plug my PowerBook G4 to an external TV monitor and switch to mirroring, the resolution automatically changes to 800x600, which really ticks me off because not only is it not what I want--I want 1024x768--but it's so small that I can't even access the Monitor icon in the menu bar! I have to go to the Apple menu, open System Prefs, go to monitors, and reset it there.
How can I set the system so that every time I plug into a TV and start mirroring, it automatically goes to the resolution setting that I want?

    Greetings,
When you reset the resolution does the entire frame show up on the TV?
    Yes.
It sounds like the computer is detecting the default resolution of the TV.
I don't think that's the case, or if it is, then it's irrelevant. I connect to two different TVs; one does the right resolution, the other one does the wrong one. I seem to recall having this same problem last time I installed a new OS, and somehow I overcame it.
Whether or not it's detecting the TV's resolution (unlikely, as it's NTSC and the resolution is 525 lines), I need to find a way to get it to automatically jump to the resolution I want when I plug it in.

  • How to use resolution setting in preview

I am adjusting resolution setting for photos in preview. I just want to find out what the max resolution is and when or if you would ever need to use it. I am submitting photos to a website that wants the highest quality images. I have a mid 2010 macbook pro using Yosemite.
    Thanks.

How about Close and Open Recent? or simply Revert?

I've lost my password for my Airport, and cannot set up AppleTV without it.  How can I either reset or recover the password?

While you can reset your password, it might be wise to first check and see whether you can retrieve it, which will save you some time as far as setting up new connections on all of your devices with a new password.
    On your iMac.....
Open Finder > Applications > Utilities > AirPort Utility
Click on the AirPort router icon, then click Edit in the smaller window that appears
Click the Base Station menu at the top of the screen....up where the other File, Edit, Window, and Help menus reside
    Click Show Passwords

  • Mac Cube resolution setting for TV's

I'm trying to connect my Cube to my home TV to watch movies directly off of my Cube but seem to run into problems with the resolution setting on the TV.
My computer starts cycling on, but then suddenly goes black after a few minutes and I don't know why my desktop doesn't show up on my TV.
Any suggestions about why it is that my Cube desktop doesn't show up on my TV. I have a Sony Wega 42" TV.
    Thanks,

well if this the first time connecting it up to the TV take your monitor out to the TV and connect both to the computer and then you will see the screen on the monitor and then go to you display prefs and click detect displays. and make sure you change it so the primary is the TV. after that you won't have to do that again. any time you connect the TV it will show up. you may not see the gray screen with the apple.
if that does not make sense tell me and i will try to clarify the steps.

  • IPad resolution setting VGA tv cable ?

  • How do I set up AppleTV to share play iTunes libraries from the same Mac

I have a Mac Pro (2008), running Lion (10.7.3), Airport Extreme running 7.6.1 and a 2nd gen AppleTV running 4.2.1.
On the Mac Pro, I have 3 user accounts (User1, User2 and User3), each with their own iTunes libraries. I have enabled Home Sharing on each of the user accounts/iTunes with a same AppleID and enabled Home Sharing on the AppleTV with the same ID.
On the AppleTV, under Computers, I see the 3 'computers', but only 1 of them will play content, depending on the order that I start iTunes on the Mac Pro.
When I log in to the 3 users and start iTunes in each, only the first user I start will play. For example, if I start iTunes with User2, User1 and User3, then only User2 content will play.
The AppleTV reports, 'Cannot connect to User1 library' and to make sure that iTunes is running.
I have a seperate Mac Air, and when I setup Home Sharing on it, the AppleTV has no problem playing content from it and from the Mac Pro.
The odd thing is that when I first set it up, it worked as I would expect. Content from each library would play and could freely switch between them. But after playing a movie from User1, none of the other User's content will now play without shutting down iTunes in the 3 accounts and starting them back up in a different order. I have restarted the AppleTV, the Router and the Mac Pro and zapped PRAM.
Is there a way to be able to play from all 3 accounts/libraries on the Mac Pro?
    Thanks for the help!

Dont really have an answer for you, I've seen this reported before, it works fine for me and I can't see any settings that might make any difference.

  • Is there a way to make the ATV stay on the 1080p resolution setting?

I have my ATV (2.0.1) hooked up via HDMI to a 1080p capable receiver and then to a SHARP Aquos 1080p capable LCD panel. Every time I start up the ATV it has defaulted back to an output of 720p and I have to manually change it to 1080p (which gives a much better picture). Is this a bug or maybe an HDMI glitch?

I have exactly the same problem. I have a Sharp AQUOS 65" 1080p LCD going through a Pioneer Elite video/audio processor, all via HDMI. When I set the resolution of the ATV to 1080p it is accepted by my LCD. But when I turn the LCD, ATV and video/audio processor off and then back on, the resolution of the ATV has moved back to 720p.
I NEVER had this problem with ATV software version 1.0. For months the 1080p setting operated exactly as it should on the ATV. Same equipment. Obviously something was changed on ATV 2.0 and now 2.0.1.

  • External monitor resolution setting is not saved

I use an external monitor as an extended desktop for my macbook pro.
The problem is that whenever I turn on the mbp, the resolution of the external monitor reverts back to the default resolution. Is there any way to set the resolution of the external monitor and have the mbp save it even after turning the mbp on and off?

    Hello all,
After installing the 10.5.2 update, my Macbook Pro's boot time increased. So, after researching this issue, I decided to reset the PRAM. This solved the boot time problem, as my Mac now boots as quickly as it did prior to the update. But now, the brightness setting is not saved and the brightness level returns to the maximum value each boot up. Other settings, like audio level, are saved properly. The brightness seems to be the only problem. Any ideas on how to correct this?
    Thanks,
    Anthony
Besides staying with 10.5.1 has anyone found a real solution to this? I want to install Aperture and I need to have 10.5.2 installed in order to instal Aperture v2.x.

  • Page display resolution setting

Many or all CS5 apps would benefit from the same kind of Page Display preferences that Acrobat Pro provides. It allows you to set page display resolution at the pixels per inch setting that will display content at true actual size (100pct viewing). By that I mean an 8.5x11 page on screen is the same size as an 8.5x11 page in your hand. It may be that Acrobat's default "Use system setting" figure (81ppi on my display) is all that's needed to get reasonably close, but InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop, etc., don't have this ability. And Acrobat can be setting to any ppi that gets the job done. Print designers, especially, need true actual size to have a better feel for the scale of the physical piece and design elements on it, notably including type.

That's a fair answer to a load of nonsense ...
    1. The original poster was not concerned about pixels, and in fact showed by his very feature request that he was acutely aware of the difference between pixels and real, actual, physical dimensions. The OP did not ask for, nor does he want, measurement in pixels -- in fact, he wants the exact opposite.
    2. There is no measurement unit called "pixel". A "pixel" is not a defined distance, and there are no online conversion tools to convert between picas or inches and pixels. If there are, they are a load of nonsense as well.
    3. Good news is that CS5 has, yeah!, "pixels" as measurement units. But ... since the pixel is not a really existing unit of measure, it's of no use at all and you might as well pretend (in your mind) what CS5 pretends on the screen: one pixel equals one point.

  • Resolution Setting

I'm very non-tech! I have a G4 Powerbook and somewhere along the line, my resolution got messed up. I can not see the entire screen for Garage Band, Word, etc. I went to System Preferences and played with various display resoltion settings, but haven't found the right setting.
What should I set my resolution to? (I assume I was in the right place to do this...Apple->System Preferences->Display...)
    Thanks

Your screen resolution is stored in PRAM. See http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=86194&SaveKCWindowURL=http%3A%2F% 2Fkbase.info.apple.com%2Fcgi-bin%2FWebObjects%2Fkbase.woa%2Fwa%2FSaveKCToHomePag e&searchMode=Assisted&kbhost=kbase.info.apple.comn=false&randomValue=100&showSur vey=f
So try zapping PRAM. See Mac PRAM, NVRAM, CUDA/PMU & Battery Tutorial
