TV Seasons/ Episode dates

Is there a place where the date of the showing of an episode shows? For example, I wanted to see if I missed an episode of a show I usually watch. I wen to the series in iTunes and looking at the last episode showing, I couldn't really tell if I'd seen it or not, until I checked the description. But if there were 2 or 3 episodes I hadn't watched I wouldn't be able to figure it out that way. It would be nice to have the date the episode aired show up somewhere. Or does it and I'm missing it?

I am seeing in Apple TV under TV Shows:-

etc
The West Wing - Season 1

Is there anyway to get the TV Show to pull all the Seasons together and just show the TV Show, then the Seasons, then the episodes?
The way I am seeing it now with several TBs of TV shows this is going to be a very long scrolling list.
Any ideas? Can I group them somehow by changing an attribute in the meta data?

Just got a new Apple TV 2 - it connecting nicely to all the Macs in the house.
I am converting all my video and putting it into iTunes (10.0.1) using iFlicks (a tad flakey) and Elgato Turbo HD H.264 usb co-processor.
All going well, quicker if iFlicks were more stable and stop stalling without any indication it had done so.

For my test I had "Friends" and when I did the multiple item dialog and put a "1" in the season field it displays the season on the first level. So when I view by shows it has "Friends" with Season 1 in smaller font underneath. I just saw that and wanted to add it to my post
This is the way most people view their TV shows list. However, the original poster asked how to merge the various seasons for a single show together under a single TV show name--just the opposite of what you are doing (i.e., dividing the show by season). In my explanation, you select all episodes in all seasons for a single TV show, open the multi-file Info window and remove all of the season numbers in a single action. Thereafter, all episodes for that TV Show will then display under a single TV show name and, if the episode #s are correct, will be listed in their episode by season order but not place a "header" between seasons as is done on the TV1 menu when season IDs are included.
For me, it is six of one and a half dozen of the other. For instance, the original Doctor Who TV series has 26 seasons which would make 26 Doctor Who TV show entries in the TV show list making it easier to access individual episodes for each season. On the other hand, grouping all 26 seasons under a single TV show name makes it easier to select an individual TV show but makes it more difficult to access a single episode in the "season by episode" list which now contains over 500 individual episodes. Thus, each user must decide for himself/herself which work flow is more suited to their individual needs. My only reason for posting was to point out that both options are available for TV show lists and answers the OP's question.

Past Seasons Episodes of TV Series

Why to I have to pay to watch last season's episodes on channels that I subscribe to and pay for anyway?! Especially last year's season? This does not seem right. I don't think this is how it was previously?!!

It is the norm and has been for many networks for a long time. Only the last few episodes of the current season will be free. After that, they move to PPV. It's not entirely Comcast's fault. It's the networks themselves that set the conditions.

TS4223 Purchased TV show & now instead of downloading the purchased seasons episodes, iTunes keeps trying to re-download s1 & s2 (prev downloaded & watched months ago)

First up I have just noticed this HD thing and it's possible that this is why I can't see and download the season purchased, but strange that no message popped up to notify me of the incompatibility?
I am not sure if this is cload related, iTunes related, or blonde moment related.
Ok so I am using a MacBook Pro 13" the only mac product I own and use my iTunes for.
In the available downloads there are double ups of the previously purchased and watched episode from only this show (The O.C. if that's of any relevance?) not the other shows I have purchased through iTunes and not the latest season I have just purchased.
There also seems to be an issue with the display of the media - not sure how to explain but as I have purchased the different seasons, the latest season image is usually the icon and background theme when looking at the episode lists. At the moment it is just a blank white background with the TV image.
Hoping this is just the HD thing and not something worse but any advice or insite would be appreciated. Thanks.

This happens very frequently and has become so irritating I am considering no longer using iTunes. I also find it very disappointing that Apple, despite numerous posters saying they have this probelm, have decline to comment or address the problem.
I've spent the last few years switching over to Apple in most things, iPhone, iPod, iTunes, and got AppleTV, and also several members of my family and friends followed suit when they saw what I had.
All of my enthusiasm for Apple products however has been undone, with iTunes becoming an ever increasingly woeful piece of software. It crashes regularly, downloads duplicates, forgets artwork I'd spent hours adding, and the in store search facility is pedantic e.g. typing 'sex in the city season 1' will not find 'sex and the city season 1' for example. A truely aweful piece of software.

Unable to download new season episodes

I recently purchased Season Two season pass of the show Wander Over Yonder. The first few episodes became available for download without a problem. But the most recent episodes have not. When accessed on iTunes, it says I have to purchase the episodes. I have purchased season passes before and have never encountered this problem. Has anyone else ever experienced this same issue?

Having an older version of iTunes on the computer does not affect the ability to download or install a newer version.
What is really the problem? If there are errors, please provide the precise wording.

ITunes 12 missing many info components such as season, episode. How do I get those back ?

I use a variety of info fields such as episode number and season to create smart playlists. While they show up as available columns to display, how can I edit those fields?

Goldbug, if you read my previous post you would see that you can edit the episode ID and season tags in the new iTunes it is done in a slightly different way though.
Add the video to your library, by default they go into your "Home Videos" section for some reason. Navigate to the Home Video section (you cannot do this from the sidebar as before though). Highlight one or more of the videos and right click and then "Get Info", under the options tag change the media type to TV Shows and click OK. This might take some time if you have multiple videos as it has to sort of re-write the file to add the media type.
Now go to the TV Show section and click get info on your TV Show, in the details section you can add the title, season and episode of the show. What is new (and for the better) is that now you can click the small arrows at the bottom to scroll to the next show to edit. Before you had to open up each episode individually to add the media type and episode numbers etc.
I still don't know why this cannot be done from the same dialogue box, however once you start using it the new system is an improvement on the old one purely because you can scroll through videos (once the media type is changed to TV Show) and add the episodes in one go.

Why can't I download season episodes that are previous seasons?

I purchased a season pass for Warehouse 13 Season 2 in SD, but none of the episodes are downloading. I see that other people have had the same issue with season passes, but all of them are talking about current seasons. Is there a reason why it won't download old seasons?

Andre, when you said "if the license holder don't want my money", you said the key words. Apple doesn't control what can be distributed in each country's store the copyright holders in your country for that content do. Until they negotiate a contract with Apple for distribution rights, I'm afraid you're out of luck. Sorry!

iTunes Store download options
Season Passes and completed TV seasons
When you buy a TV season or Season Pass, you'll see these options:
Later: Don't download any episodes now. You can download your episodes later from iTunes in the Cloud.
Download All: Download all available episodes.
Download: Download the earliest unseen episode of the season. For example:
If you haven't downloaded any episodes from a season, episode 1 of that season will download.
If you've previously bought or downloaded episode 3 of a season, episode 4 of that season will download.

Script to rename tv show with season and episode number

Hi all,
I am working on a script to rename all the files of a tv show contain into a single folder - keeping season & episodes numbers.
I am using zenity to get the correct name of the tv show (mainly to add capital letters, and remove the dots - and also to be able to use the script for different tv show)
then again using zenity to select which folder contain the files, and then I want zenity to display how the rename will do as a verification and if happy then process.
The script work great but I can get zenity to display the output of the command and ask the question.
Any suggestion?

Now the script work (tested with multiple files, different names) and the verification is to a singles files just to be sure not the mess up those episodes number.

Suits season 2, episode 16 "War"

I've posted for this problem a couple times now. I have the season pass for Suits, season 2. And the final episode of the season, episode 16 "War" has not been uploaded to the store yet. It aired on Thursday, Feb 21. Wondering how I can go about to contact iTunes and tell them to upload the episode!

TV episodes wont cluster together

Just recently some of my TV episodes added to iTunes wont cluster with others from the same show and season. I've checked and triple checked to be sure I am tagging the show the exact same way.
For example, check out my Falling Skies, season 2 screen grab below. Episodes 8 & 9 are sperated from the rest of the season episodes. This is happening to more then one TV show...not just "Falling Skies".

Why can't you watch them? It's likely that the video is not in an iPod friendly/compatible format. If the video was originally downloaded from the iTunes Store, there is a very good chance that it's in High Definition (HD) format, which is not supported on any model iPod Classic unforunately.

TV Episodes Appearing Under Movies

Ever since I upgraded to Snow Leopard, TV episodes I've ripped from DVDs I own that I add to iTunes have been appearing in the movies category of Front Row. It is driving me bananas, because I have a lot of media in my library, and I enjoyed accessing it with the Apple remote through Front Row, but I totally can't do that anymore since everything's a big mess.
I've sorted the files correctly in iTunes--I know how to do that--so why can't Front Row sort them the same way iTunes has? Is anyone else having this problem? It is completely baffling me.

I have the exact same problem! Even with Leopard (all versions of 10.5.x), Front Row never worked properly for sorting shows. iTunes would list the TV shows properly by Season/Episode, yet, FR would list the seasons out of order such as 5,3,4,1,2 but not for EVERY TV show, just some. Standard reverse order would be acceptable to me as it would put the most recent episode higher in the list but it just seemed random as not all the mis-sorted shows followed the same pattern.
I am now using Snow Leopard 10.6.1 and iTunes 9.0.1 and all the TV shows are listed in BOTH the TV Shows AND Movie sections of FR (Version 2.2 (313)). This is an absolute MESS!! Apple should detail exactly how FR sorts using the iTunes tagging system so we can make adjustments. Or, better yet, Apple should just fix this long-standing embarrassment. Additionally, iTunes should support editing of extended tags such as movie ratings, why should I be forced to use an addition program like MetaX (very good software, BTW)??

Brio 8.2 BQY Job Date Parms

I'm researching how to schedule jobs in Hyperion/Brio (8.2). I have setup some working BQY jobs, but have a question when setting up date limits. It gives me several options such as first of week, last of week, first of previous month, last of previous month for date limit options. Where do these come from? I would like to run a report on Monday for previous week data (Sat-Sun), but there are no first of previous week and last of previous week options.
Also -- I am doing a Friday run of the current weeks data using First of week & Last of week that works fine, but limits to (Sat-Fri). I was expecting (Sun-Sat).
Everything is setup using the default calendar with Sunday as the start day of the week.

IR can calculate the days between 2 days within the results section by simple formula ... EndDate - StartDate.
Actually I don't need to calculate the days in between. I have to calculate the start date using the logic explained below.
How are you having your user select a time frame like season to date or month to date and an end date ?
The users will be entering the Time Period using a Variable Limit.
Why do you need to use the database function?
The database function calculates the start date based on the End date and the Time Period. Ex Year to Date and 22-JUN-2010 will get the starting date of the year i.e. 01-JAN-2010. These 2 dates are used as start and end date in the report.
What is database?
We are using Oracle 10 database.

How to view by show and not Seasons

This is probably more an itunes questions but since apple tv users use itunes I thought I'd try here. Is there a way to organize the library so that when you are in TV shows you view just the shows. Say I have lost and theres 4 seasons of it. Can't I just view lost TV show, click it then I see my 4 seasons with the art work. Cause other wise I have all these shows but I have to scroll through so much just to get the right season. I hope this makes sense but if I have 10 shows and they all have 4 seasons I have 40 listings. Seems kinda crazy. I have tried to organize my library but can't seem to get this one figured out. Maybe there isn't a way and itunes wants it that way. Hope to hear form someone.

No, not a "Grid" view, but you can achieve the same "List" results on an TV2 device by including/excluding the "Season" entry.
So the only thing I can do is change the season. However, won't that make a mess cause if I have say 4 seasons. I would then have 4 episode 1's etc.
No, not if you are really entering the "Episode Number" correctly. For instance, I am currently working on season 2 of Bones. Since there were 22 show episodes in season 1, they were numbered 1 thru 22. Season 2 contains 21 show episodes which are numbered 23 thru 43. (If you need a list of episode numbers for a particular series, you can visit a site like http://www.tv.com and search for the TV series by name and, once you find it, jump the the "Episode Guide" for that series.
In any case, if you remove the season number from all of your "Lost" episode entries, then all of the shows will be displayed in a single continuous list which you can access via the single "Lost" TV Show Name entry. You can remove all of the season numbers in a single action by selecting all of the Lost episodes and entering a "nul" Season entry. If your Episodes Numbers are correct, then the Episode titles will be listed in the order in which they were aired on TV.
To me it just seems kinda crazy that using apple tv you would have to view multiple seasons of multiple shows instead of just the show name, then choose your season, then episode.
As previously noted, these devices only allow two organizational levels and your statement implies you want three separate tiers--Show Name, Season Number (by Show), and Episode Name (by Season). If you look at the display of your current TV Show list on an TV1 device, you would see only a single entry for each TV Show and when you select the TV Show Name, you would see a list of episodes divided by "Season Number" headers. In other words, removing the "Season Number" entry for an TV2 device will allow it to display in the same manner as the TV1 device but without the "Season Number" headers in the "Episode" list.
I dunno, maybe i mis understood or am missing something.
Basically, you have the option of displaying all episodes under a single TV Show Name or single Season Episodes under a TV Show + Season Name. How you choose to view them is up to you.

Season Out of Order

I am having a weird issue. The seasons of one show in my iTunes appear out of order. It only happens to one show, all the other display fine. I have been through the tags and everything is tagged correctly (right title, year, season, episode, etc). I've checked the sorting and it should be sorting them chronologically. In list view everything displays correctly, but in any other view it displays the seasons: 1, 4, 2, 3. Any thoughts?

Nevermind. I just deleted the entire show and re-added the seasons one at a time in order and now it displays correctly. I don't know why it didn't work the first time and I don't know why it works now, but I'm happy.
