TV Show sync wipes off all audio.
Running iTunes 7.0.1, with a manually managed music library. However I do automatically sync all Podcasts without any issues.
Yesterday I imported some video files and marked them as TV Shows. I then configured iTunes to automatically sync these files, syncing only the ones that hadn't been seen. It did manage to sync them correctly, but only after wiping the entire audio content off my iPod during the process.
I have managed to restore all of my audio content again, but I've lost all playlists in the process.
Resolved by iTunes update.

Can I turn off all audio except iTunes?
Is there a way to turn off all other audio on my Mac while iTunes is playing? It's very annoying when I'm enjoying music while surfing the net and suddenly some website has audio that plays automatically. Even internal Mac sounds like error beeps, etc ... I'd like to turn off everything except iTunes.

Wow, what an effect. After 10 hours of work, completing an iMovie project and burning several DVD copies, my wife noticed several typos within titles (spanish language). After fixing the errors, I lost all audio - not just with the clips containing titles, but within the WHOLE iMovie project.
What;s going on?

What you need to do is to download a program to tranform the video file in to a mp4 file and then put it into iTunes and Then load it onto the iPod, that worked for me.

Will loading a movie to iPod really wipe out all audio files?

In the midst of loading CD collection into Video iPod 80GB. Decided to load a DVD as well and received a warning message that "loading movie will delete all files".
Has anyone seen this? I can't imagine that Apple designed a product that is so un-user-friendly.
Any guidance would be appreciated. By the way, I just learned that I need to convert the DVD format to MP4 - but am reluctant to begin conversion process if loading a movie necessitates deleting all audio files.

How do I turn off all clip audio so only music track is heard?
How do I turn off all audio that is with the original video track so that only the audio soundtrack music will be heard?
Add the clip then click the gear icon on the clip and choose Audio Adjustments… reduce the volume to zero. - JamesJM

External HP Pavilion 23xi monitor cuts off laptop audio
I want to use my HP Pavilion 23xi monitor as an external monitor for my laptop (Sony Vaio, Windows 7). The laptop only has an HDMI connection, so I used an HDMI cable to connect it. The HP monitor works fine, but when it is connected, it cuts off all audio output on the laptop. There is no sound from the internal speaker on the laptop, or from the headphone connection.
If the HDMI connection automatically takes over the audio output, surely there should be at least a headphone socket on the PC? I can't change the connection type, as the laptop only has HDMI for an external monitor. Is there any configuration change that will fix this?

As you mentioned, the HDMI sound may take over sound, disable HDMI sound may help. Pleae try:
Right click the speaker icon
Select Playback devices
Right click HDMI sound and disable it

Initial sync of Books will wipe out all music???
I have an iPhone 4 running iOS 4.3, and I'm running the most recent version of iTunes.
In iTunes on the Summary page for my phone, I have "Manually manage music and videos" selected. I have loaded up my iPhone with about 10 gig of music, which took a lot of time to select, drag and drop over onto the phone in iTunes, etc.
Now I have a PDF that I want to add to my iPhone by adding it to the Books tab, checking 'Sync Books', and moving it onto the phone. The problem is that when I check 'Sync Books' it warns me that "Are you sure you want to sync Books? All existing songs, movies, and TV shows on the iPhone will be removed".
I certainly don't want to have my music deleted because then I'll have to re-install it all.
Even though I have "Manually manage my music selected", why is this Book Sync option still trying to delete it?
Is there another way to get a PDF onto the iPhone without syncing it?
Any help would be appreciated.....

JohnI manually manage my music because I have about 60 gig of music in iTunes, and only around 10 gig of space on my iPhone. So I just dragged my most important music onto the iPhone because I don't want to sync all of the music that I have in iTunes. It won't even fit....
So, now that I've been manually managing my music, what you're saying is that if I turn on the option to sync books it will wipe out my music and I'll have to do it all again? Obviously you're correct from what I'm seeing with that warning messgage, but that seems absurd to me. I don't understand why the two settings are not independent of each other.......
So...........There's no way around this? -
Ipod is synced but not all music will play. The music shows on the Ipod but not highlighted and cannot click to play.
Provided the music plays in iTunes on the computer
Try:
- Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
- Unsync/delete all music and resync
To delete all music go to Settings>General>Usage>Storage>Music>Tap edit in upper right and then tap the minus sign by All Music
- Reset all settings
Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.
All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.

I have an Iphone 3 and use Outlook 2010. I just recently tried to sync with my desktop using Itunes and once they were synced I cleaned up alot of the contacts using outlook but when I tried to sync them not all the information from outlook made it to my iphone. Additionally, there are a lot of contacts in my iphone that are not showing up in outlook. I have tried several things but nothing seems to work. Any ideas?
So after looking a bit closer i have noticed that when i have the phone plugged into the computer it shows the songs but when i dont have it plugged in and i go so the song icon on the bottom of the music menu screen it says i have no songs!

We own 5 Apple devices but for some reason I cannot get iTunes to recognize one of the iPads. The other 4 show up just fine and we can sync and do all the stuff we are supposed to do, but this one device is never recognized. I've tried updating the software, reinstalling iTunes, using different ports on the laptop, different cables...just about everything. I have NEVER been able to connect this one device, but all the others are fine. I'm at my wits end. Is there someone out there who can help a relative novice figure out what's going on? When I plug my iPod into the computer, itunes won't come up on the screen and my iPod is not recognized anymore and it use to be. Please help because I can't sync it at all because it won't show up as a device on the right hand side of itunes.

Removing and reinstalling iTunes and other software components for Windows Vista, Windows 7, or Windows 8

Downloaded iBooks on my Macbook Pro but when I tried to sync it on my iPhone, this appeared: "Are you sure you want to sync books? All existing songs, movies and TV shows on the iPhone “My iPhone” will be removed". Love the iBooks as well as music. I really don't want to loose my music. HELP!!!
From the message you are receiving, it sounds like you either, 1) haven't synced your iPhone with that computer before, 2) are using two different iTunes accounts, or 3) both. If you have purchased music or movies through your iPhone with a certain iTunes account and purchased books through iBooks on your MacBook through a different iTunes account then there is no having both on the phone.
Apple doesn't allow content from two different accounts on a device at the same time. Also if two "libraries" have been created, one on the iPhone and one on the Macbook then syncing will erase data that is not associated with that particular library.
If you are using the same iTunes account for both, then you should be able to redownload any purchased items (music, books, etc.) from iCloud, assuming you have set that up.
