TV Shows in Get Info Video tab missing!

I downloaded the new iTunes 8.0.0.35 today cause I had to update my iPhone firmware and when I did I lost the Tv Shows option under the Video tab in the Get Info pane. What do I do to move my videos into the TV Shows catagory of my library?

It's on the Option tab now, under Media Type.

  • Image Icon not showing in "get info" for OS 10.9.4

I  now have PS CC 2014 and the image icons are showing the "generic" .jpg and .psd files in the "get info" finder window, but on my desktop the images are showing their
         proper image icon.
I was previously using PS CS 5 and the icons are showing up in the "get info" window, but with PS CC 2014 these icons are showing up as generic.
To be clear the images I saved using PS CS 5 are showing the icons vs. the images I saved in CC 2014 where the icons are not showing in the "get info" window.
I've compared preference settings with PS 2014 and PS 5 but their basically about the same.
I'm including 2 images so you can see what I'm explaining. IMG_1627 is a PS CC2014 created image and Arturo is a PS 5 image.
I did read about other PS users having similar issues but it looked to be unresolved.
You may think what's the big deal, but I use these image icons to label my folders. A "trick" I've doing for over decade which helps keep my folders visually on track for me.
Is anyone out there able to solve this issue??

I do on occasion get jpgs and pngs that won't render a thumbnail or preview in MacOS.  I have 10.9.5
I don't have this problem, although I just have CC and CC 2014 on my Macbook.
I would open those up in Preview.app and try a Save As... and I would get the thumbnail and thumbnail preview back.
Not really the best idea, but you can see if it helps.
These  are my file saving options, perhaps there is something there you can try.

  • Picture not showing in "Get Info" for Podcast

I've just created a podcast and uploaded it. The audio works just fine, but for some reason the image that I want to associate with the file doesn't show up in "Get Info". Anyone know what may be causing this?
The .xml for the podcast follows:

<description>Few other questions in American history have generated more controversy than "What Caused the Civil War?" That conflict preserved the United States as one nation, indivisible and abolished the institution of slavery that for more than four score years had made a mockery of American claims to stand as a republic of liberty, a beacon of freedom for oppressed peoples in the Old Word. But these achievements came at the great cost of more than 629,000 lives and vast destruction of property that left large parts of the South a wasteland. Could this terrible war have been avoided? I have double-checked and the image file is online.
Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Artwork for the individual episodes that show during playback comes from an ID3 tag embedded inside the MP3 file - just like a regular song.

  • ITunes 10.5 Ratings fields broken in smart playlists and in Get Info - Options tab

Installed 10.5 on Win XP and just discovered the Ratings fields are broken in both the Smart Playlist properties box and on the Options tab of the "Get Info" window.  By "broken" I mean -- just blank, can't be edited.  I can see and change the star ratings directly in the track list and by the right-click menu, but when I try to make edits the Info popup the field is blank (even if the track already has a rating) and can't be edited.  Same behavior on Smart Playlists, on both new smart playlists as well as smart playlists I created before the upgrade.  See screen shots...

Well, I guess "never mind"... the problem went away "on its own" - I suppose a reboot fixed it, but who knows.

  • Get Info image data missing

I have used the Finder's Get Info command and accompanying window to determine the height and width of images since the beginning of time. Today that capability suddenly disappeared. When I select an image in the Finder and invoke Get Info, under "More Info" there are two hyphens instead of the dimensions in pixels (e.g. 300x250). I tried a dozen images in various formats like JPG and TIF but the dimension info doesn't appear anymore. I'm using System 10.5.8 on a 2008 Mac Pro. All the other expected info (creation dates, name, preview, etc.) in Get Info is there except for the image dimensions.
I did not do any recent updates and haven't noticed anything else amiss. I played around with Finder prefs, restarted the system, repaired permissions, etc. Nothing brought back the image dimensions. I can use Photoshop or other programs to get the image dimensions but using Get Info via the keyboard command was a nice shortcut.

I don't directly use Spotlight - I prefer HoudahSpot's interface to the Spotlight index. I have not changed the prefs in HoudahSpot or Spotlight itself, and the Spotlight Privacy list was empty when I just now checked it.
But you are definitely on to something because after checking the Privacy List to see if any folders had been inadvertently added, I then tried Get Info again on an image file and VOILA! all the image data had been magically restored. Indeed, Get Info image data is now working for all images I have checked in the past few minutes.
Thanks for the pointer. Apparently something triggered Spotlight to prevent the data from appearing and the mere act of checking the Spotlight settings restored the "missing" info.

  • Quicktime won't open files, Get Info Video Preview crashes finder

When double-clicking any .avi video file, Quicktime attempts to open it, and then returns an error report with "excbadaccess kernprotectionfailure".
VLC will play any of these files perfectly. I want to set up file handling so that VLC always opens .avi files, so I right-click a video file and go to "Get Info," but in that window the Finder tries to generate a preview of the video, and after a second or two crashes the Finder with no error message.
It is very annoying not to be able to double-click video files to open them. How can I get this working?
Sorry if this has been asked before. Any advice would be appreciated.
Mac Mini Core Duo   Mac OS X (10.4.8)   Quicktime 7.0.4

Thank you for the quick reply.
That method works when selecting and then right-clicking individual files or groups of files, but I frequently put new .avi files on the machine, and I have to repeat the process. I was looking for a solution that would make any future .avi files open in VLC with a double click.
Furthermore, once the file has been set to load in VLC and the icon has changed to a VLC icon, selecting Get Info for that file will still unceremoniously crash the Finder. Is there any way to fix the preview in the Get Info window, or at least stop it from crashing the Finder?

  • "Unknown" User Showing in Get Info Box

This is strange - at the bottom of any Get Info screen I am seeing three listings in this order:
1 - administrator (my account) with Read/Write privileges
    2 - (unknown) - Read Only
    3 - everyone - Read Only
When I try to delete unknown, nothing happens
    Any thoughts?

The first time I installed leopard I lost the root account and it lowered my priviledges on my admin account to user.
That was only the beginning of sorrows and I finally restored Tiger again.
Second attempt - same result almost.
    Back to tiger - Grrrrr.....
On the next attempt I did the usual (disk and permission repair) before install, but this time I forced Leopard to boot into safe mode immediately following the install from the DVD.
Eureka! Every setting from Tiger was perfectly preserved, except for one: my windows workgroup name. I finally cured that by deleting the ethernet -1 entry in system preferences > network and then recreating it.
The Remote management 3.2.1 upgrade caused me numerous program and stability problems as well. I finally removed it and altogether and leopard performed much better. I later reinstalled the original remote management client 3.2 from the leopard disk and leopard finally tamed down and went to work.
It has that "good time feeling" now and my million and one settings from tiger are all perfectly preserved.

  • Mac Messages Audio/Video tab missing

    Hi,
On my Mac Pro, in the Mac Messages app (ver. 8.0) preference pane, I am missing the tab for Audio/Video. Because of this, I'm unable to select my external audio device (a Focusrite Saffire Pro 40), and therefore hear no sound from video messages sent to me.
Does anyone know of a way to restore the Messages preference pane, or do I need to do a complete OS X restore?
I did try deleting the com.apple.iChat.plist file and restarting the app, which did not work. Here's a screenshot showing the missing tab.
    Thanks.

    Hi,
If you use the iMessages account and then use the Details option top right of the Chat/Interface window of Messages it will invoke the FaceTime App.
Video and Audio chats done this way don't use the apps own Video/Audio Ability.
It is the same with Screen Sharing. With Accounts that have buddy lists it uses the Apps Own abilities.
The iMessages account Invokes the Screen Sharing App and has to have System Preferences > Sharing > Screen Sharing set to allow this.
Back in iChat you could have issues with external devices that were used for Sound input.
If they were MIDI based you can open the MIDI Setup app in Applications/Utilities.
iChat used to accept 41000 and 48000 data rates for sound.
There have been issues with some external devices on which order they get set up between System Preferences > Sound > Input and the choices in Messages itself.
Recently I have seen a similar post about doing the same in Messages where an head set/mic combo unit needs the Input set in Messages before the Output.
As far as playing other sources If Quicktime can play it then Messages should also "share it".  Or at least that was my experience until they did away with iChat Theatre.

  • 'More Info' disappears from 'Get Info' Inspector Tab when accessed more than once

I've just got back from an appointment at my local Apple store Genius Bar and have had three members of staff all looking bewildered and unsure as to what to suggest with regard to this issue (apart from a fresh OS install/HD reformat). Basically, it seems that after initially using the Inspector to gather metadata about files - mp3, m4a, MOV, avi etc the 'More Info' section becomes blank, as if there is no metadata to display, even though metadata is definitely present (see attached pictures and linked video):
Demonstration of issue (best to open in new tab, then click play or double click to start video)
First use of Inspector to view metadata on an mp3 file, Flexible (Original Mix) at 17:05
Second use of Inspector to view metadata on an mp3 file, Flexible (Original Mix) at 17:06
As you can see, in the second instance, all mention of metadata is gone. Am somewhat perplexed as to why this is happening. Any thoughts or suggestions appreciated.
    Jonathan

Ok, so this issue has resolved all by itself. Perhaps an update has rectified whatever the problem was, who knows. Anyway, job done tick lol
FYI the link to the demo video won't work anymore either as I've removed corresponding video from my dropbox account

  • Video Tab in Itunes missing!!!  Where did it go??

I just recently got an iPod Video and installed Itunes and have spent the past few days getting it loaded with stuff. I have some small videos that were suitable to play on it so I installed those and things were good. Tested them, they installed fine, they played, life was great.
Now at the end of the whole process I go to add a few more movies and they aren't loading. (still lots of room on the Ipod it's a 30GB with about 20GB free) While trying to figure out the issue, I notice in the 'Preferences' tab it shows "music, Podcasts, Contacts" but no 'Video' tab in there. When I drag and drop a video it says that it isn't playable. What gives? I guess the iPod forgets it can do video but it still has the video tab onthe iPod itself.
I've tried resetting, removing and reinstalling iTunes and even restoring the iPod.
    HELP!!!!

Guess this is a bit of a unique problem. Last night after posting, I deleted and reinstalled iTunes, updated and restored the iPod, plug into different USB ports, reset the iPod, the whole thing and nothing seemed to get my 'Video' tab back or let me put videos on the iPod.
I finally tried the 'reset iPod' choice in the iPod menus just after a fresh install of iTunes and now it seems to work - I have my video tab back and can install. Don't know why or if this is a full fix - basically I just put videos on the iPod and quickly unplugged it from the computer before anythign could decide that the videos should get deleted again.

  • Can't cut and paste lyrics into the "lyrics" tab in "Get Info."

I have the latest version of iTunes for Mac, but today I tried to cut and paste the lyrics to a song into the lyrics tab and it refuses to paste. I don't even get an option to paste. Nothing happens when I right click to paste. The cursor is blinking but no paste. It's shut off. I can copy the lyrics off the internet site fine, but when I go into the File>Get Info>Lyrics Tab, can't paste anything. Anybody experience this problem?

    Hi Patys,
I have already posted the solution twice and you can read it by scrolling up in this topic!

  • Artwork tab missing when selecting multiple tracks

    osx 10.5.8
    itunes 9.0.3
i'm having trouble assigning MULTIPLE pieces of album art to MULTIPLE tracks SIMULTANEOUSLY.
i see that i can add multiple arts to a single track by:
.. selecting a single track by highlighting -> get info -> artwork tab
.. selecting and playing a single track (so that the speaker icon appears to the left of the track in the playlist; paused or not) -> dragging artwork into the artwork pane in itunes; artwork gets added only to the track with the speaker icon regardless of which track(s) are highlighted. if there is existing artwork, new art gets added (does not replace old art).
also, adding a single piece of art to multiple tracks can be done by:
.. selecting tracks by highlighting -> get info -> info tab -> artwork field (note: artwork FIELD within info TAB of 'get info' dialog, not artwork tab)
adding multiple arts to multiple tracks simultaneously COULD NOT be done by:
.. selecting (highlighting) multiple tracks -> get info; ARTWORK TAB IS MISSING WHEN MULTIPLE TRACKS ARE SELECTED! there is only the artwork field in the info tab. setting this field with art resets any previous art -- the only art for the selected tracks will be the single piece you set in this field.
.. selecting (highlighting) multiple tracks -> dragging artwork into the artwork pane in itunes; artwork gets added only to the (single) track with the speaker icon (playing/paused) regardless of which track(s) are highlighted.
i've seen it done in (unknown version) windows itunes by:
.. selecting (highlighting) multiple tracks -> get info -> artwork tab (NOT MISSING!?)
    pretty aggravating heh
    help please.

    haaaa
    i just figured it out.
just above the artwork box in the lower left of the window, there is bar.
you can click on it to toggle between Now Playing and Selected Item.
this was my problem -- mine was on now playing. i didn't realize this was changeable.
thanks for motivating me to click at and around that artwork pane in frustration, guys. yay.
    solved.

  • Get Info iTunes items grayed out

I just recently transfered my iTunes library from a PC (running XP) to a Mac Mini. Some of the songs had artwork, while most did not.
When I access the library on the Mini and select a song using "Get Info," the tabs at the top of the window (Summary, Info, Video, Sorting, Options, Artwork) are only partially available to me. Video is grayed out (not surprising since it's an audio file). "Options" and "Artwork" are also grayed out. I have also tried to import album artwork but the box in the lower left hand corner says "not modifiable."
Not only that, if I click on "Info" I do not have the option to modify any of the song information. It won't let me delete or add to.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Just a guess, but it could be a permissions problem. Navigate to your iTunes Music Folder thru the Finder, do Get Info (command + i) and see if you have Read and Write permissions on the folder AND click the button that says Details and make sure that Read and Write is Applied to the Enclosed Folders. You might also try repairing permissions in Disk Utility.
Also...do you have Admin privileges on your user account on the Mac?

  • How do I make my iPhoto Library's version number appear in the Get Info window?

I recently (within the past 2 weeks) purchased a new 27 inch iMac and have been importing data (applications and files) from my 2010 Macbook Pro via AirDrop.  One of the first files I migrated over was my iPhoto Library.  I doing so, I noticed a few differences between its file attributes and those of the iPhoto Library file created by default on my new computer - two of which I'll note here.  First, I noticed that the file resident on my new OS was labeled iPhoto Library.photolibrary while my older version did not have the ".photolibrary" extension.  That seemed simple enough to correct so I added that extension to my old library file.  The second difference I'd note - and the source of my question - is that the default iPhoto Library file displayed a version number (9.5.1) in its "Get Info" window, while mine did not.  I checked my file's info.plist file and the correct information seems to be listed.  It reads (in part):
    <dict>
                   <key>CFBundleGetInfoString</key>
                   <string>iPhoto Libary 9.5.1</string>
                   <key>CFBundleShortVersionString</key>
                   <string>9.5.1</string>
    </dict>
    </plist>
I'm not sure this is really a question for the iPhoto community, as it seems like a more general issue; but, this is my first post to these forums, and I didn't know where to start.  Thanks in advance for the advise/suggestions.

In terms of the info.plist file, I only reviewed it to see why I wasn't seeing the version number in the GetInfo window.
    The string "<key>CFBundleGetInfoString</key>
                   <string>iPhoto Libary 9.5.1</string>"
is exactly what will be shown in the Get Info panel. I tested that by simply editing this string in a test library using XCode. I could "Get Info" to show ridiculous versions numbers this way.
However, none of my older iPhoto libraries will show the version string in Get Info, only libraries I created with iPhoto 9.5.1. or Aperture 3.3 or later.
There is probably one of the other database files in the folder "database" - *.appdb and *.db  interfering.  None of the Library First Aid options did make the version number show for my older iPhoto libraries - not even rebuilding the iPhoto library. The only way I could make the version number show in "Get Info" was by exporting the library as a new library using Aperture. But this exported library is now showing as Aperture library.
