TV Shows to DVD?

Is it possible to burn the shows that I downloaded from the iTunes music store to DVD? I'm interested in saving LOST to DVD and then watching it on my TV instead of on my iPod or laptop. Thanks in advance!

Sorry, but you may burn them only for backup purposes to DataDVD but not to DVD-Video.

After running bootcamp, DVD drive is detected by Windows 8. But after installing drivers, no longer can detect. Device Manager shows that DVD drive is unplugged! Drivers in Bootcamp “removed” the DVD drive. I think there is an issue because I reinstalled Windows 8. If I don't install driver, then I have reduced functionality (no Apple keyboard, no sound etc), but once I install driver, I lose my DVD drive.

Hi, guys, I have had the exact same problem since the summer of 2010. Here's what I was able to find out.
Deleting upper/lower filters, running all those Fix Ya programs and other Microsoft crap is useless. This problem is most certainly has nothing to do with registry of any software on your computer. I took my HP 9620us to a couple of repair places and, they tried a lot of things and it appears that the root of this problem is a faulty motherboard connection. Of course, it costs about 400 bucks to fix it so I'm not sure I want to pay this kind of money.
Anyway, if somebody was able to fix it PLEASE post here to let us know. Again I am 99 per cent sure it's some piece of hardware in the motherboard.

  • How to show business dvd on ipad 4?

I have a business DVD that I now show from laptop or DVD player.  How do I use iPad to show this DVD presentation?

You can't use an iPad to play a DVD disk directly. You'll need to convert the DVD to a format the iPad can play - if these are not copy-protected disks Handbrake works well and has a preset for the iPad - and then sync the video to the iPad through iTunes.

Hello experts out there i need urgent help!!

I am running Vista Home and despite deleting the drive and trying to update the driver nothing seem's to work can anybody help i am getting to the point of throwing it out of the window.
    Regards
    Stephen

    Hi dude
This issue is known to me it happened to me too
The problem is you Windows registry!!!
One registry entry is corrupt and therefore the CD/DVD ROM does not work as I should.
    So what to do.
Firstly remove the driver from the device manager. Just simply delete it.
Then access the registry and and remove the Upperfilters and Lowerfilters values completely from the following registry key:
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Contro l\Class\{4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}
    Then reboot the notebook.

  • Can you import shows from DVDs???

I just got a new video ipod and instead of spending money on shows from the music store can I import shows from DVDs???

The ripping guide in the external link ought to work just fine, but the main reason I'm posting is to say that it would be quite unreasonable to use HandBrake to rip a DVD, especially with 2-pass encoding, if you care the slightest bit about the longevity of your optical drive. Before further experimentation, you might want to know that HandBrake also supports encoding from DVD folders and images, which can be extracted in a matter of minutes (not hours and even days) using other free software. And of course none of this will ever work with any DVDs except the ones you've made yourself and own the rights to. Pakko sanoa semmoista, voi vitsi.

  • Dowloading TV Shows from DVD's to Visio

Does anyone know how to dowload TV shows from DVD's to your Vision M? I have Windows Media Player . For two days I've been trying to save (rip) one of my favorite televison show DVD's and I just can't get it right.
Can I download the contents of the TV Show DVD directly to my Zen Vision M?
    Thank you.......
P.S. I am definitely a novice computer user. (That's why I love the Zen so much..... It took me only about 20-25 minutes to load my pictures and music library when I first got the player.)Message Edited by MP3User on 08-3-2006 09:9 AM

The issue with DVD's is unique as its not really a matter of Fair use, but a matter of copyprotection and encryption.
Under fair use laws, yes you are allowed to take something you purchased and use it on another device.
But DVD's are protected from copying (and reading for that matter) by a digital encryption scheme.
Under the DMCA if you break the CSS copyprotection on a DVD to copy it, you are breaking the law. Untill a court overides the law in favor of the consumers (doubt that will happen), it is illegal to sell software or use software to copy a "protected" DVD.
http://reviews.cnet.com/4520-353_7-528652.htmlThe laws very significantly on this by country to country, to creative doesn't allow people to discuss how to copy DVD's at all here in the forums, because they don't want to run a foul of any other countries laws where they opperate.Search on DVD and DMCA on google and you will find quite a bit of information. There have been many court cases where software manufacturers have lost because they sold DVD Copying software that would copy CSS protected DVD. Am not aware of any cases where an individual has been convicted for copying DVD's for personal use. All I can say is proceed at your own risk. The link above lists which software packages are considered illegal and legal in the courts eyes.

  • Imac 24" dvd-drive doesnt show inserted DVDs randomly, only after reboot (?

    hi
i am very aware of this problem as my powerbook G4 had the same issue,
although its not a big issue i am worring about.
when i insert a DVD sometimes, lets say a commercial Movie DVD, an older burned DVD from 2002 or 2005 or even 2006, my brand new imac 24" doesnt recognize the inserted DVD randomly, not every day, but on some days........
when i start harddisctoolkit, it doesnt show the dvd, too.
the drive spins a bit, then stays calm.
i use to reboot then, and surprise, its always there!
    what is it please?
    thanks

  • Burning slide show on DVD.

Have P E 5.  Wish to create and display slide shows on HDTV.  Have created a show, but just learned that my version cannot burn the show to DVD.  Am I missing something?  Are there other options?  Does the latest version 10 have this feature?
Thanks in advance for your help!
    Fred

No version of PSE has this function, since Adobe wants you to buy Premiere Elements.
If you have a dvd burner you must have some kind of software you can use for this, even if it's only windows movie maker. You may also have gotten something like Roxio. Check to see what you have on your computer already. Then just output your slideshow as a wmv file and use whatever it is to create the video disc.
However, note that PSE does not create HD output.

  • Ripped TV Shows from DVDs do not show up in iPod TV Shows category/folder

I have ripped some DVD TV shows and want them on my iPod. I have properly used the ID tag (Under Show Info, Options tab) to choose TV Show as the correct "Video Kind". But still they don't show up on my iPod in the TV Shows folder. Other videos that are from music CDs I have labeled Music Videos but they show up on my iPod in the Movies Folder.
Does anyone know how to fix this?

there is discussion on this on the "Using Fifth Gen iPod" Board

  • How can I make slides into movies to show on DVDs?

I have just scanned about a thousand of my 91 year old Dad's slides and have been trying to transfer them to discs, so that they can be easily played on a DVD player so that he doesn't have to go through that oldfashioned slide show procedure with the projector.
I scanned them, edited them using Photostudio and then dragged them into iMovie. 99 seemed to be the maximum number of photos I could get to burn onto a DVD. (Using Roxio Toast)
After a lot of trial and error, I thought I had done it successfully, but now find they don't work even as a slide show (clicking on from one to the other with the DVD remote), let alone as movies. I had arranged them into categories and made movies of about 50 each, with transitions.
The first major problem became apparent after the first few were done, when I realised that iMovie tends to prefer NTSC to PAL and sometimes reverts to NTSC of it's own accord. (I'm in Australia, where PAL is the standard)
I gave up on trying to select music to go with the photos, as when I tried to select the movie to burn, the music would not be there.
I found that about 10 seconds duration was best for each photo, and tried selecting all to add the same Ken Burns transition to each one. I thought by keeping each disc to only a few 'slide shows' of about 15 minutes duration each I had finally got it right, but apparently it won't play on Dad's DVD player.
I would like step-by-step instructions on exactly how I should go about this project, as it seems I will have to do it all again. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

    Casuarina,
It would really help if the machine you are using has iDVD. If it did you would use iMove to create slideshows then drag them into iDVD, customize the DVD with a them, music, etc. then burn the DVD.
You can also do all the slideshow (99 images each) right within iDVD, then burn the DVD.
Macs are great, but you need the right software, and iDVD is what you need to make DVDs.
There is a hack to be able to burn a DVd with iDVD using an external or non-supported burner.

  • When i tried to hook my macbook pro up to a projector to show a dvd, the screen on the computer and projector screen went black as if it were trying to connect. yet it didn't show up. The dvd played when it wasn't connected to the projector. any ideas?

When I tried to hook up my macbook pro to a projector and play a dvd, the dvd wouldn't work. I would only get an error message. The dvd worked when it wasn't connected to the projector but doesn't work when it's connected. It just shows a blank screen as if it's trying to connect. Also, the connection works when I don't play the dvd. Any ideas?

    Hey there lynmrigg,
It sounds like have an HDMI to VGA adapter connecting your MacBook Pro and your projector but the screen on your computer goes black and no image appears on the projector. I would use the troubleshooting in the following article to help resolve or isolate the issue here, named:
Apple computers: Troubleshooting issues with video on internal or external displays
Try unplugging the video adapter or cable and then plug it back in.
If more than one video adapter is in use (or "daisy-chained"), troubleshoot by using only one adapter.
Example: A mini DisplayPort to DVI adapter connected to a DVI to HDMI adapter is an unsupported configuration because there is a series of adapters in use.
If available, try using a different display and or adapter (or use a different connector by using DVI instead of VGA, for instance).
    Reset the system
You can reset the Mac's parameter RAM and SMC.
    Reset the resolution
Start by resetting the Mac's parameter RAM. If the display does not come up, was previously set to an unsupported resolution, and still results in no video:
    Start up in Safe Mode.
From the Apple () menu, choose System Preferences.
Choose Displays from the View menu to open the preferences pane.
Select any resolution and refresh rate that your display supports.
    Restart your computer.
Thank you for using Apple Support Communities.
    Take care,
    Sterling

  • Slide shows on DVD

I compiled and burnd a DVD with 5 slideshows and 1 movie using iMovie5 and iDVD5. Why can I not pause the slideshows as I can the movie? I would like to look at some slides (especially maps) longer than the few seconds given by the application.

Just output the slideshow as a .wmv file and import it to the program of your choice to create the final video dvd.
If you are running Vista Home Premium or Windows 7, it includes a program of Windows DVD Maker, which can make the TV playable DVD disc using the WMV file from the PSE slide show editor.
Use a good quality DVD disc : DVD-R discs seem to be the most universally accepted by TV DVD players.

    David,
Below is an extract from a discussion I had with others on forums who had your current dilemma. Adobe's answer is generally to use Adobe Premiere Elements to burn the DVD; if you have it installed there is a additional option to burn to DVD on that menu. However, you may have other choices.
If you have a DVD burner, want to make a PSE 3 or 4 slide show that plays on a TV DVD player, and do not have Premiere Elements:
    - create a WMV file using DVD NTSC or DVD PAL (according to your country TV standards) as the OUTPUT parameters
    - then read the doc that came with the software that supports your DVD burner (might be Nero, Sonic, Roxio) looking for a function that will create a Video DVD (note that it must specifically be creating/authoring a VIDEO DVD intended for play on TV rather than just burning a data DVD). Once you find this function, use your WMV file from PSE 4 as the input and choose the software options that give you a video DVD.
Based on my experience and conversing with others on forums, this will give you a DVD that is significantly better quality than the Elements VCD (written to a CD) and but not quite as good as a program that does a slide show direct to DVD. Quality is a subjective judgement, so I am not saying this is the answer for everyone. However, my philosphy is generally to try the software I have first before purchasing additional software.
Notes: For Sonic, I used a MyDVD limited edition that came with my burner. For Nero, I communicated with someone who did it with Nero Vision Express. I don't have any specifics for Roxio.
Notes: Creation of the WMV will almost always take a long time - depending on the number of slides and the number and type of transitions, zooms, pans. Each photo must downsized in resolution, then each individual type of motion must be applied; these photos must then become frame per second video (a significantly different format translation). All this takes time and processor power.

  • Error burning Slide Show to DVD

In the completion stage of the DVD burn in PreE 4 I receive the following error message.-  Device error - Sense Code (37304) -program memory area / rma update failure.
Can anyone tell me what the problem may be? Previously i have burned a slide show successfully. Now, after 2 trys for this slide show I receive this same error message.
    Sanray19

This error can display two reasons
    1. Bad quality disc solution : Use  a new disck
    2. DVD driver is incorrect or Power supply or disconnect the cable while encoding process is ongoing. : solution : Burn it again.
    3. You are working long time in editng, this scenario memory would increased, so that application would not get enough memory generate  encoded file.  Solution : Restart and burn again.
