TV Shows will not play on iPod

I just bought a 5G 30GB iPod yesterday after my 2G was stolen (so I am a relatively experineced user). I have been able to update my old music and everything seems to be working fine except for playing TV Shows. I have dowloaded an episode of Lost and although it plays on iTunes I only see the menu screen when i try to play the episode on my iPod. It looks like I am playing a song, but the clock never starts moving. I have tried changing the various settings under the Video Settings Menu with no luck. I am able to watch and hear Music Videos.
Thanks for your help.

If your video is on your regular audio playlist it will only display thumbnail..Your video clip should be accessable via, Video under TV shows. Try playing the file there.

  • Installed tv series and one show will not play

I feel like I am getting the run around...
I downloaded to my itunes and installed on my ipod the tv series Big Bang Theory season one. Out of the 17 shows one will not play. I have tried uninstalling it and reinstalling it several times with no sucess. I have sent itunes the problem and they allowed me to redownload that show. Still with the same problem, I have installed the new download on my ipod and it will not play. After writing to itunes with my problem they tell me I need Apple ipod support, and gave me the telephone number to call...After calling and waiting on hold for 5 minutes I am being told it is an itunes problem not an ipod problem...I then decided to install it to my husbands ipod and the one eposide will not play on his ipod either. Any idea's on how I can get this to play?

hmmm, did you get 2 versions? With some moveies you get an HD version for your TV/PC, and an SD version for the iPod. I've only gotten the free TV episodes they give away, so don't know if this is normal for TV shows.
All I can think of, is make sure it's an SD version that goes on the iPod.
edit - on 2nd thought, you obviously know what you're doing if you can get the other shows to play. I would just keep after them. If you have an email with an Apple case number, keep replying to that.

  • Games and tv shows will not transfer to ipod

ever since i bought a new computer(which also has windows vista)im having trouble adding tv shows and games to my ipod.i had no trouble with songs but ive tried authorizing computer and manually managing music but no luck. anybody?
toshiba v1.10   Other OS   windows vista

update on this... as I thought the "windows" format might be causing the problems, I restored and reformated to Mac... now when I try to copy my TV show, <show> was not copied to the iPod... because it cannot be played on this iPod...  though it is a video ipod, 5th Gen, which it told me during the restore, I am guessing that it will NOT play HD video...  interestingly boring sort of.  Oh well, guess I will have to plug in my iPhone or iPad to do this, at least I know why now!

  • After the latest version of Adobe flash player was installed, movies and tv shows will not play, and

After the latest version of Adobe Flash Player was installed,  movies and tv shows  will not run, and most of the news videos will not play. I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling it but that does not help.

I have windows (crap) seven and internet explorer.  When I try to access movies or tv shows, I'm always asked to install the latest version of Adobe Flash Player.  When I check the programs list, it indicates that Adobe Flash Player Active X is installed.  I have uninstalled adobe and reinstalled it several times.  Do you suppose this is a virus, and I need to redo the hard drive completely?

YouTube videos will not play on my IPod touch 5 after I updated the operating software. Any suggestions on how to fix? I uninstalled and reinstalled the YouTube app.

  • Just upgraded to new iTunes, downloaded shows, will not play.

I just upgraded to the newest itunes last night, and today I downloaded three episodes of Lost.
They will not play. It says time is elapsing, but there is no sound or video, just a gray screen.
Does anyone have any idea why?

Try the following: download  BatChmod and run on the iDVD project package with the settings shown in the screenshot below:
If your files use a different Group you can use it.  Then launch iDVD and see if you can open the project file.

  • Itunes purchased music will not play on Ipod

I have had an Ipod since second generation around 2004. It lasted me until about two weeks ago and i recently bought a new fifth generation. When 7.0 came out my older ipod would not play my purchased music and suddenly started to give me errors(unhappy ipod, and folder). I took it into the genius bar and i was told that the hard drive had died. I think that is a load of hogwash. I was able to "revive" it to only have it die again. The new Ipod has the same problem with the purchased music. I have tried the 5 R's, I have reloaded my library, everything. I thought that possibly if the files were on a shared network it messed it up, but i have unshared everything. Nothing seems to work but reloading the purchased music from a cd that has been burned. I dont want to take the time to do that for over 350 songs. Are there any suggestions from a real Apple tech? And will this be SOLVED?
      Windows XP

seems like Apple wants us to illegaly obtain the songs from now on. You know the story about starving musician, poor janitor at studio, well it is not important now.
I am done with being cool, now i want something that will actually work. lets see how long will it take for iTunes update to come accros, and will anyone in Apple say we are sorry guys, we screwed up. hmmm, maybe refund for all the songs you purchased would be fair, you know guys we sold you and told you it will work on your coputer, but look surprise they dont. no, not even crappy explanation, just new update.

  • Movies and TV Shows will not sync with iPod Video 80gb -

    Okay, here is the problem:
I have an iPod Video. Previously, I have had roughly 20 movies that I ripped from my OWN DVD's to mp4 format. They all played fine and synced fine with my iPod.
Then I updated my iTunes version to 7, and now I cannot get the Movies or TV shows to sync to my iPod. I get no error message. I cannot get them to sync manually or automatically. I spoke to tech support and they refused to help me because they only offer sync support for content purchased from iTunes. Of course, when I told them that I had purchased several TV shows from iTunes, they told me to send an email to the iTunes store and have them let me re-download the tv shows??
What is going on here? It worked fine before? Same iPod, same computer? The movies are either mp4 format or h.264?
    Help!

I'm having extremely similar problems with my ipod right now
The only differences are: I have a 30gb and I already have movies on my ipod, it just won't let me add anything new to it!
I have about 12gb of free space left (the movie I want to add isn't that big)
I can manage (add/delete) songs and photos on it, it's just not letting me do anything with my movies! It keeps saying this whenever I try to copy my movie to it "[movie name] was not copied to ipod because it can't be played on this ipod." Which is total BS because there are already about 34 movies/music videos on it!
    Help!!
Oh, ps, it's not letting me put album artwork on there anymore either... due to error code -50 (which I have NOT been able to find any help articles on!)

    Thanks for your help.

I was able to downgrade my iPod software to 11/17/2005 (1.0) and had the same problem. I then upgraded again to 1.1.1, same problem. I then RELOADED, which erased everything, took me all night for iTunes to reload 9000+ songs and a dozen movies to my iPod 60gb, and I still have the problem.
I have been using the same software (Videora) to create my movies, and I've only been seeing the problem recently with new conversions (I have/still use the exact same Videora parameters) I'm beginning to suspect there is either a boundary problem in the iPod (gets up to a certain size/address and starts having problems) or a subtle bug in Videora, but I don't really suspect Videora because others who have reported this problem have been using a variety of software to create (or buy) the videos they have downloaded.
Apple, what is your problem ? Will you acknowledge this bug (or any bug for that matter)? When will we see a fix?

  • Purchased music will not play on iPod after iTunes 6.0.1 (3)

After upgrading to iTunes 6.0.1 (3) and then syncing my iPod Photo I can no longer play songs purchased in iTunes on my iPod (cds copied to iTunes play fine). The music (and album art) for the iTunes purchased shows up on the iPod, but the iPod just quickly cycles through any purchased music without playing it - this applies to all purchased music (recently purchased and stuff purchased 9 months ago when I got my iPod). The music plays fine using iTunes on my laptop. I have the latest firmware update on the iPod Photo (1.2).
    Any thoughts/help are appreciated.

  • Itunes purchased tv show will not play on atv

I recently purchased my ATV and have synced my itunes. I downloaded season 5 of "The Shield" from the itunes store. The shows play on my computer and show up under "My TV Shows" but no picture. There is a bar at the bottom of the black screen showing run time and a gear turning. Sometimes it shows the run time count going forward but, other times it stays at zero. I also intermittently get a message that says "There are no tv shows on your apple tv" or if the show is there it will say something like "cannot play..format not recognized". I am very frustrated and ready to send this thing back.
Any help would be welcome - while I still have hair

    (1) Like you I can stream video content acquired outside of iTunes to my Apple TV, but I can't appear to play any video purchased on iTunes. On the other hand, music I've purchased plays fine and since my music collection no longer includes protected files I'm of the opinion that this is most likely a DRM issue.
I don't know whether this issue appeared after iTunes 10.5 or the Apple TV 4.4.2 update.
It is of some importance to me that Apple resolves this quickly.
    (2) I am not experiencing any issues with the bottom right hand output selection. Have you tried disconnecting from your network, starting something and then reconnecting to see if that resolves the issue?

  • Videos will not play on iPod

    Hey everyone,
This is a strange one. I have about ten videos which I have purchased via iTunes. The videos play on iTunes, but they will no longer play on my 30GB iPod with video. The most bizarre part is that the iPod used to play videos, but now it no longer will. When I try to open one up on it, it starts to play, but it just shows a clip of the video in the spot where the album art normally shows--like it is trying to play the videos like a normal song. I have checked the Video Settings and they are all set up normally. Anyone have any ideas what to do?
    Thanks -

    Try:
    - Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Unsync all music and resync
    - Restore from backup. See:
    iOS: How to back up
    - Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.

  • My iTunes shows will not play on my Apple TV

When I go to the purchased show I want to watch and click play it goes into its thinking screen like its about to play but then goes back to the screen where it asks you to play again. This is happening with all my shows. No message. I tried restarting and that did not work. Can anyone help?

I do not know if you are experiencing problems with renting or purchasing items from the Apple TV through iTunes, if so see: https://discussions.apple.com/message/23399558#23399558 to determine if there are the same problems you are experiencing.  I  have spent over 6 hours on this issue trying to isolate if it is a  hardware, software, network, iTunes account, or Apple device issue.  My  initial results indicate it is a software specific issue related to the  Apply TV hardware device.
