TV signal gone after reset HELP please..

Since we got that major update on BT vision 3-4 months ago my vision has been near on useless. it freezes when watching freeview channels, wouldnt even load the catch up menus half the time, when I called and complained I was told it was because the update did something to my machine and it needed another update to fix it.. But when I called for an update of this Friday just gone I was told it was because my box needed a reset,
I done the reset, and got this error code VDR016 it then continutes to do the update succesfully, Well it says succesfully but now I have the most terrible signal on most channels, which I never had before the reset,
I have since reset it twice more, to be met with the same error before the installation finishes, and the same bad picture each time.. I have unplugged and replugged in all my cables incase one was caught at any time during me doing the reset, and still I have the same issue.
I would call BT over the phone, but im sick of being lied to and messed aroound, and spending hours at a time (Yes I literally mean hours) waiting for answers running tests and still being no further forward..
so has anyone got any ideas as to what I can try before I just cancel it and try sky again
My internet is running 75meg fibre optic, Vision box is hardwired to the router, and internet is running perfectly,

Try purging the channel list, not likely to solve the problem but you never know. Remove the aerial from the box and do a channel scan, which will clear it. Then replace the aerial and scan again.

    First thing to try is to reset your device. Press and hold the Home and Sleep buttons simultaneously ignoring the red slider should one appear until the Apple logo appears. Let go of the buttons and let the device restart. See if that fixes your problem.

    You can try restoring your iPad as new using iTunes on your computer. This will load a new copy of the iOS software onto your iPad.
    If this doesn't work you may have a hardware problem and will need to contact Apple Support.

    Ipod started playing up today - very slow menu movement. had it in my dock when it froze. I pressed the off button on my dock remote and it switched off as normal. went back to it this evening and it switched on frozen. So I thought i'd do a reset. plug into computer, computer dings, ipod does not ap[ear on system. flicked onto hold. no difference.

  • Hard disk bad sectors gone after reset to factory defaults.

    Hi,
    I have HP DV6 6c19tx. a couple of days ago i noticed extreme slow startup time in my laptop; like 20 minutes. Once logged in it took another 20-30 minutes to let me click anything. I openned the task manager but no process was taking extra ordnary memory or processor. I openned HP Support assistant to troubleshoot and it showd me errors in SMART Check. which means my HDD is dying but to bad sectors. I ran the Seagate tool for HDD analysis and it also showed errors in SDST. which confirmed me that my HDD is about to die. I took the laptop to the retaler as my laptop is still in warranty. from the BIOS diagnostics he tried to run the HDD tests and it failed showing some error numer 303 or 305. He asked me to take ackup of all the data so that he can order a replacement for HDD.
    I took the laptop back to home to take the backup. after copying all the data, i wanted to remove all personal contents from the laptop so i thought y not to reset it to factory defauls. I reset it t fatory defaults and unexpectedly the system started working perfectly fine. I ran all the test that previously showed error, they all were passed; no HDD error.
    Now am confused what happened here, some one please suggest me if i still need to give it to the retailer to claim the warranty. was is some kind of virus that got removed after reseting the sestem or what. 

    I know it's been a while since you posted your question, but I've recently had an issue with some SMART software claiming that my hard drive was going to fail.  After doing some research, I discovered that there's a virus that will do this to your computer.  It eventually causes you to lose access to all of your files and you'll be unable to use your hard drive.  
    My question on this is why in the world would this program exist?  There's nothing to be gained from creating a virus that just causes your hard drive to poop out.  I'd be willing to bet that it's something the manufacturer has created that forces either a new computer purchase or a new hard drive purchase.  It also could possibly be just some dirty butt psycho dreaming of ways to cause problems for people instead of getting a real life.
    In any case, it's a virus.  Your hard drive is probably fine now.  Re-initializing the hard drive most likely wiped it out.

    It should - it's worked for quite a few other folks. It helped that you wrote about having ESET. Other security software can do this. There's a similar issue with folks running Vista on Sony Vaio PCs - there's some Sony bloatware that conflicts with itunes. Carbonite backup software can also cause it.

    Yesterday, I picked my phone up off my desk and the screen had gone completely black. My phones screen is cracked, but has been for the last ten months and functioned properly. This has happened before but it seemed to turn back on after ten minuets or so. I put my phone on charge overnight to see if it would have changed by the morning. I find myself with my next problem of being unable to deactivate my alams as I cannot dismiss them. I have read other discussions and tried to reset my phone, I have done this several times without anything working. However, now when I put it on charge, every ten seconds the noise to signal that the phone is charging keeps going off!

  • DEAD new ipod, used 2 hrs, won't charge, turn on or reset, help please?

    Today my son was happily using his brand new IPod, then left it to charge, even though it was still half full. The do not disconnect screen came on, so he left it charging. When he came back, the screen was blank! It will not even charge, will NOT turn on, will NOT reset and we have checked the computer settings. I am a mum, never used Ipods before, but looking at the discussions they are bewildering, why so many problems??? Can someone please just tell me the answer without all the tech talk! I have no idea on reinstalling things or what a firewire is. This is brand new so why should we be encountering all this hassle, very stressful and frustrating. Please help if someone has found a way around it without being too technical. Thank you.

    Hi Shiela,
    First off, let's do this to safely disconnect your iPod from your computer (at this point, just unplugging it may cause some problems):
    1 - Close all running applications on your computer, and save your data. Shut down your computer.
    2 - After the computer had fully stopped running and is shut down, disconnect your iPod from the cord which connects to your computer.
    With your iPod disconnected from your computer, start your computer back up.
    Then, make sure that your iPod's "Hold" switch (lodated on the top of your iPod) isn't turned on. The orange side of the switch is the On position, while white is off. Switch your iPod's Hold switch to the Off (white) position.
    Then, reset your iPod by pressing the Menu and center buttons together for at least 6 seconds. You might need to try this several times.
    If the iPod still doesn't seem to be respond, connect it to your computer again, and try resetting the iPod (see above) a few times while it's connected to your computer.

    I have had issues with my iphone deleting emails without my consent. It seems as if it doesn't want to hold onto emails for an extended amount of time. I use my iphone for all work related emails and personal. I have created folders to store important emails in related to work. I found when I need to retrieve those emails, they simply are not there. I was told to delete the email account from my iphone, then to add it back into phone. I have done this and things seem fine, then after a few days it no longer works. I have researched this topic and see that I am not the only one with this problem. From what I can find no one seems to have the answer. Please help?

  • Lost notes and calendar after restore - help, please!

    My phone recently froze and I went to the apple store to have it fixed. They reset and restored it, telling me that I wouldn't lose an info as long as I had recently synched it. I came home, synched and now have lost my all my calendar items and my notes.
    I was able to recover my contacts and songs, because of the little tabs at the top of the synch screen. However, I can't find how to recover the calendar and notes.

    Notes are not recoverable unless iTunes has a backup file of a last Sync.
    The problem is this file is over written with each sync so it could be outdated by now with current info your iPhone has.
    As far as Calenders goes. As long as you are using one of the supported programs in the Link below, And it has your calender data in it. You can use the Tabs your talking about and Sync the info back.
    Simply go to Info Tab, Then tell it Sync Calenders, And choose the program based on your PC/Mac and Sync.

  • IWeb O8 Won't Publis After Upgrade- Help Please

    Hey All,
    So I finally upgraded to iWeb 08 and now my sites won't publish at all. Every time I select Publish or Publish All it goes through the paces connects then goes through updating all of the pages and then reaches the publishing in the background message. After that it stalls for 20 minutes and then I get this message "iWeb couldn't connect to .mac. Make sure your internet connection works & try again."
    I've been trying to figure it out for 3 nights and I'm going crazy as my wife is pregnant and due this week and I will want to update the family site. First it should be said that I can surf any and all web sites.
    I've searched the forums and the web and tried the following:
    -unplugging my rouuter and letit reset
    -unplugging my modem and let it reset
    -checking the keychain for iWeb (it is correct)
    -repairing the keychain
    -Verify disk permissions
    -Repairing disk permissions
    -deleting this file User/Library/Preferences/com.apple.iweb.plist
    -Made sure my password is only 8 characters
    I don't know what else to do. Any help or guidance to rectify this would be supremely appreciated.

    So I found a solution and wanted to share so others can fix this if they have the same problem.
    My iWeb was corrupted and although this sounds very basic it did the trick for me. Copy the iWeb Domain from library/Application Support/iWeb.
    Then paste it on your desktop. Then copy it back into the folder that it came from over the original domain.
    This simple trick worked for me so I hope it works for you.
