Tv to computer display

I have connected my tv to my computor and my tv has the background only showing where am i going wrong

First kindly try a different VGA cable, there might be an issue with the cable connection.
Second try to lower the resolution of your notebook display before you plug-in the VGA cable. There are cases that TV's sometimes could not support a high resolution from notebook.

  • Should i be able to see interlacing on the computer display?

I'm trying to verify if i have things set up properly.
If i'm working in a timeline that is DV NTSC and i've brought in elements from after effects and as well have moving images within FCP, should i be able to see the interlaced lines in FCP?
It looks okay on the broadcast monitor but i'm trying to figure out if interlacing on ftg/renders should be visible on the cinema display.
a simple yes, no and a sentence if you've got the time would be nice.
    thanks

You can observe the presence of interlacing on a computer display only if the Canvas (or Viewer) are set to display 100% size and the video is paused. The interlacing will appear as a comb effect on moving objects. You can not observe interlacing with a computer display on running video.

These instructions must be carried out as an administrator. If you have only one user account, you are the administrator.
Launch the Console application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad and start typing the name.
    Step 1
For this step, the title of the Console window should be All Messages. If it isn't, select
SYSTEM LOG QUERIES ▹ All Messages
from the log list on the left. If you don't see that list, select
              View ▹ Show Log List
from the menu bar at the top of the screen.
In the top right corner of the Console window, there's a search box labeled Filter. Initially the words "String Matching" are shown in that box. Enter "BOOT_TIME" (without the quotes.)
Each message in the log begins with the date and time when it was entered. Select the BOOT_TIME log message that corresponds to the last boot time when you had the problem. Now clear the search box to reveal all messages. Select the ones logged before the boot, during the time something abnormal was happening. Copy them to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C. Paste into a reply to this message by pressing command-V.
For example, if the system was unresponsive or was failing to shut down for three minutes before you forced a restart, post the messages timestamped within three minutes before the boot time, not after. Please include the BOOT_TIME message at the end of the log extract—not at the beginning.
If there are long runs of repeated messages, please post only one example of each. Don’t post many repetitions of the same message.
When posting a log extract, be selective. A few dozen lines are almost always more than enough.
Some private information, such as your name, may appear in the log. Anonymize before posting.
Please don't indiscriminately dump thousands of lines from the log into this discussion.
Please don't post screenshots of log messages—post the text.
    Step 2
    In the Console window, select
DIAGNOSTIC AND USAGE INFORMATION ▹ System Diagnostic Reports
(not Diagnostic and Usage Messages) from the log list on the left. If you don't see that list, select
              View ▹ Show Log List
    from the menu bar.
There is a disclosure triangle to the left of the list item. If the triangle is pointing to the right, click it so that it points down. You'll see a list of reports. A crash report has a name that begins with the name of the crashed process and ends in ".crash". A panic report has a name that begins with "Kernel" and ends in ".panic". A shutdown stall report has a name that ends in ".shutdownstall". Select the most recent of each, if any. The contents of the report will appear on the right. Use copy and paste to post the entire contents—the text, not a screenshot. It's possible that none of these reports exists.
I know the report is long, maybe several hundred lines. Please post all of it anyway.
If you don't see any reports listed, but you know there was a crash or panic, you may have chosen Diagnostic and Usage Messages from the log list. Choose DIAGNOSTIC AND USAGE INFORMATION instead.
In the interest of privacy, I suggest that, before posting, you edit out the “Anonymous UUID,” a long string of letters, numbers, and dashes in the header of the report, if it’s present (it may not be.)
Please don’t post other kinds of diagnostic report—they're very long and rarely helpful.

Launch the Font Book application and validate all fonts. You must select the fonts in order to validate them. See the built-in help and the support article linked below for instructions. If Font Book finds any issues, resolve them, then boot in safe mode* (by holding down the shift key at the startup chime) to rebuild the font caches. Boot again as usual and test.
    Mac 101: Font Book
*Note: If FileVault is enabled under Mac OS X 10.7 or later, or if a firmware password is set, you can’t boot in safe mode. In that case, after running Font Book, launch the Terminal application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ If you’re running Mac OS X 10.7 or later, open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Terminal in the page that opens.
Drag or copy — do not type — the following line into the Terminal window, then press return:
    sudo atsutil databases -remove
You'll be prompted for your login password, which won't be displayed when you type it. You may get a one-time warning not to screw up. After running the command, reboot as usual.

my computer displays grey screen and apple logo for 10 minutes or more during start up and shut down. sometimes it refuses to shut down . this issues started after installing OS lion. what do i do?

I don't think it's exactly an incomplete installation brody, but most likely in-correct permissions somewhere along the line that either happened, or became magnified during the upgrade. Also, it could be corruption as well.
First thing to do, is boot up holding down Shift key to do a safe-boot so we an clean up any corrupted OS caches, after that do another reboot, but go to the Lion recovery, and scan the HD for errors, repair any if you find them, and then try to do a Repair Permissions job.
That should fix the issue, if not, we can start doing a PRAM reset  and SMC for good measure.

  • GX740 computer - Display driver stopped responding and has recovered

GX740 computer - Display driver stopped responding and has recovered
    hi,
As I told in the title I am experiencing this message: "Display driver stopped responding and has recovered" only when I am playing games. The symptoms are a freeze of the screen (but I can still see pointer of the mouse moving) for 10 seconds, then the screen become black, and the game recover. Frequency of this depends of the game, but it can be really often.
To be more precise about the situation: I just sent my laptop to Rma services (for a totally different problem), they said that they updated the vBios of my graphic card.
before sending my laptop, I never experienced this kind of message before. Even if sometimes I used to have GSOD or BSOD screen on certain games.
Moreover, my Graphic drivers are up to date (using driver sweeper and ccleaner ), I tried several stuff to fix this problem, but nothing worked so far. (reinstalling system, try different ATI drivers, all of my drivers are up to date besides, try to set different options in windows, act on registry  ... and other stuff).
So I do not know what causes that, maybe the new vBios is not compatible with something ? Ram memory issues ? power issues ?
According to what I read , it is quite a very common message, and it does not seem to be hardware related.
But we never know. Could you please help me on this, because I am running out of ideas to fix this issue.
    Thank you for helping
    Geoffrey

Don't you think that the new bios from the 3D card bring some bugs that could be resolved by flashing the motherboard bios ?

  • Rotate the computer display by 90 degrees

    Hi all,
Does anybody know how to rotate the computer display by 90 degrees programmatically in Labview?
I searched on the internet and got an idea to use user32.dll to do that.
They used EnumDisplaySettings() and ChangeDisplaySettings() to do that.
However I'm not quite familiar with C.
Looking for help to do it with Call Library Function Node.
    Thanks.
    (windows 7 64bit, labview 32bit)

Here's an example of what I was thinking.  Of course with an array of picture controls that means all columns would need to be the same width.  Of course if you don't have horizontal scrolling you could get away with fixed images.
Now that I think about it what is wrong with just some string comments on the front panel of the column text doesn't change, and no horizontal scrolling.?

  • Computer display flashing on and off

So for the past couple weeks, whenever we turn on our computer, our display flashes on and off to the point to where its practically unusable. Eventually it stops after at least half an hour of blinking, but I was wondering, what could be wrong and how could I fix it? The computer isn't really affected, between flashes it isn't shutting down and the log in is still available, however, it only shows what I'm doing for a second before flashing back off. We tried switching displays but that didn't work either. Is there anything that could be done or should we just get rid of it?

Glad that you found the cause, expensive as it may be. I am not sure about this Out of Range message. What sort of monitor are you using? Most will connect and the Displays preferences self adjust.
Within the preferences are a number of display resolutions and refresh frequencies (in Hz) but these are not always shown (for example with my notebook monitor it displays resolutions not refresh rates (always the same for the built in monitor) but when I attach a monitor, such as HDTV or projector, I am offered a range of rates for each resolution.

  • Apple TV as computer display?

I want to show my computer screen on a 46" 1080p display while others watch me work with mapping programs to plan trips. I put a marker on the map on my computer, it shows on the 46". I think Apple TV cannot do this because what I am showing does not go through iTunes.
As a work around, it possible to post maps to iDisk in Mobileme and use Apple TV to show them? (Panasonic plasma TV)

Thanks for a prompt, clear answer. It's time for more cables and adaptors!
My interest is more in displaying content generated in our home rather than externally downloaded. I was hoping the device might replace wires and adaptors and allow three computers to wirelessly display any local based computer content. It seems Apple TV can handle the iPhoto library in one machine at a time but does not retain computer settings to allow for easy toggling between two or more computers.

  • Itunes on windows 7 causes computer display problem

i have had my laptop for 6 months and it has widows 7, i have used the latest version of itunes(10.1.2) with no problems. Then my kaspersky anti virus expired so i downloaded norton security suite from our internet provider because it was free. The next day when i started up itunes, it caused the screen to go black for a second and when the display came back it was discolored and pixelated, and not just for itunes, it did it for everything i did on the computer. When i quit itunes the display goes back to normal. ive tried itunes after getting rid of norton and that didnt work, ive also re-installed itunes and it didnt work
    can anyone help me?

That sounds like a display setting has been engaged in your iTunes compatibility tab.
Try the following document, with the following modification: make sure that *no boxes whatsoever* are checked in the compatibility tab (not just the compatibility mode checkbox):
[iTunes for Windows: How to turn off Compatibility Mode|http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1489]
Does that clear up the display trouble?

  • Computer display through apple tv

can i connect my computer to my apple tv, using it to display content from my computer on my tv? I have a macbook from 2010 & iphone4s

Mirroring would technically work but you would have to be at the computer to control the music, shows or movies you are watching.  It would be much easier to use the ATV menus to do so.  Enable Home Sharing in iTunes and then enter the home sharing password in ATV.  You will then be able to see all your iTunes content under the Computers Icon on ATV.

  • Dont want my tv to show my computer display?

Here's my question... I have been connecting my macbook (intel) with an apple connector (the one that plugs into the video out with a yellow rca cable) from my macbook to my TV. I would like to show different clips on the tv without my audience seeing my computer screen on the display? Is there a way to have my computer showing my home screen and then the tv only showing what i want it to? Kind of like 2 screens on 1....

I agree. You should be able to avoid video mirroring, and change to dual-display or extended desktop mode. The user guide I've downloaded onto my MacBook mentions the following in the section on 'Using External Video Support' -
"When an external monitor or TV is connected, you can either have the same image appear on both the built-in display and the external monitor (known as video mirroring) or use the external monitor to extend the size of the Mac OS desktop (known as dual-display or extended desktop mode). By default, your MacBook starts up in dual-display mode. Press the F7 key to switch between dual-display and video-mirroring modes.
If you want sound to come from an external display, such as a projector or TV, you need to connect an audio cable (not included) from the computer’s headphone (f) port to that device.
Note: Because of the display limitations of most TVs, images displayed on a TV screen
are of lower quality than those on the built-in display or an external monitor."
    I hope this helps.

  • My computer displays a blue overlay over my log in screen when I wake from sleep. How do I avoid this?

My Macbook Pro (late 2012) recently started making a weird startup noise coming from the optical drive and displaying a blue overlay screen with a bar at the bottom when waking from sleep, after about 2-3 hours of non-usage. It then takes about 30-45 seconds until I can type in my password. When I first got my computer, this wouldn't happen.
Any idea why it does this and how I can stop it?
This is a picture of the screen:

(I did click the camera icon to add the picture the first time. I tried it again.)

If you want to post an image please use the Camera icon in the message composition window's toolbar. You cannot just drag one in from your computer, hence why your image does not appear.
I would suggest you try this:
Reinstalling Lion/Mountain Lion Without Erasing the Drive
Boot to the Recovery HD: Restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the COMMAND and R keys until the menu screen appears. Alternatively, restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the OPTION key until the boot manager screen appears. Select the Recovery HD and click on the downward pointing arrow button.
Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions: Upon startup select Disk Utility from the main menu. Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions as follows.
When the recovery menu appears select Disk Utility. After DU loads select your hard drive entry (mfgr.'s ID and drive size) from the the left side list.  In the DU status area you will see an entry for the S.M.A.R.T. status of the hard drive.  If it does not say "Verified" then the hard drive is failing or failed. (SMART status is not reported on external Firewire or USB drives.) If the drive is "Verified" then select your OS X volume from the list on the left (sub-entry below the drive entry,) click on the First Aid tab, then click on the Repair Disk button. If DU reports any errors that have been fixed, then re-run Repair Disk until no errors are reported. If no errors are reported click on the Repair Permissions button. Wait until the operation completes, then quit DU and return to the main menu.
Reinstall Lion/Mountain Lion: Select Reinstall Lion/Mountain Lion and click on the Continue button.
Note: You will need an active Internet connection. I suggest using Ethernet if possible because it is three times faster than wireless.

  • HT3964 my computer displays only a blue light on the screen after booting (and rebooting)! How can I fix this?

There is a blue light on the screen of my mac book pro and the computer will not display anything! Does anyone have any advice/recommendations!?

For Safari you could try clearing its cache and history via Settings > Safari.
For Safari and your other apps you could close them all completely and then see if they work when you re-open them : from the home screen (i.e. not with any app 'open' on-screen) double-click the home button to bring up the taskbar, then press and hold any of the apps on the taskbar for a couple of seconds or so until they start shaking, then press the '-' in the top left of each app to close them, and touch any part of the screen above the taskbar so as to stop the shaking and close the taskbar.
If that doesn't work then you could try a reset : press and hold both the sleep and home buttons for about 10 to 15 seconds (ignore the red slider), after which the Apple logo should appear - you won't lose any content, it's the iPad equivalent of a reboot.

  • Photoshop screws up computer display

I use a PC and for the past 2 months my photoshop program has had a strange issue. Whenever I try to open a photo on photoshop my computer's display starts to glitch and the photo won't show on the program. Even after closing photoshop my display continues to have graphics issues. How do I fix it?

Update your video card driver straight from the website of the manufacturer of your card.  Do not rely on Windows Update or Microsoft.  Those will give you outdated drivers most of the time and will lie to you saying you're up to date when you are not.
That should take care of it, unless your video card is underpowered to begin with.
P.S. Photoshop has nothing to do with the deficiencies of your video card or its driver.
