TV tuner in HP HDX X16-1315EA

I just purchased a HP HDX X16-1315EA which has an integrated TV tuner. The PC came with Vista which I have upgraded to Win 7; when I run the TV app it seems unable to find any stations.
Is the tuner capable of receiving digital terrestrial TV (in the UK)? Is it just a matter of downloading the latest driver?
Regards,
Tony

Hi,
On YouTube there are numerous videos which go over the use and setup of laptop tv tuners. Here is a link. Watch the videos and set your tuner up.  Enjoy

  • HP HDX X16-1000EO Premium Notebook PC; not finding channels

hi guys, I know there are a lot of threads on this already, but I have tried many things and still cannot find any channels.
My laptop is HP HDX X16-1000EO Premium Notebook PC, I dont know if it has a hybrid or digital tuner, but I know it has one, as it came with an antena and an adapter.
I live in Sweden, and I am pretty sure that there are some digital channels that I would be able to watch by just using the antenna that came with the computer. But yet, it still finds no channels. Even when I connect it to the RF cable through the adaptar, it finds no channels.
I also installed new versions for all the drivers.
    Any suggestions?
    Many thanks!!

    Hello,
Please try to upgrade your system BIOS to the latest version.
Also please make sure you give your unit a good cleaning.  A clogged fan and heatsink can cause an abnormal shutdown from overheating.
Here is a grea document on how to accomplish this.

  • HP HDX X16-1155CA Windows 7 Home Premium - 64 bit

I have 2 RAM = 4 GB DDR2. Can I replace with 2 RAM = 8 GB DDR 3? and Which brands are recommended for my hp laptop as I can't find that on the specs data sheet or support page for this laptop.

    Hi,
No, firstly DDR3 RAM won't physically fit on DDR2 RAM slots. The following link shows compatibale RAM for your machine:
      http://www.crucial.com/upgrade/HP+-+Compaq-memory/HP+HDX/HP+HDX+X16-1155CA-upgrades.html
You can buy from them or use the information to buy elsewhere.
Note: DDR2 RAM is more expensive than DDR3 RAM now.

  • Teredo Tunneling Pseudo-Interface "This device cannot start" on HP HDX X16-1007TX

This doesn't seem to be causing me any problems but I am curious as to what this warning in device manager relates to and if it's something I should worry about.
The warning says "This device cannot start. (Code 10)"
The driver is from Microsoft, version 6.0.6000.16386, the device description is: "Microsoft Tun Miniport Adapter"
I am running factory installed Vista Home Premium, the system is pretty new and unmodified so I was surprised to see the warning.
    Any help appriciated.

Microsoft Tun Miniport Adapter #2  --- (code 10)
did u ever get an answer to this problem?  i got my nb around the same time you posted this msg & have had the problem since then.  i tried asking hp but they were useless.  3 hours well wasted for nothing so i gave up looking for a solution, but it still bugs me & i've always wondered... i dont even know what it is for.  do u?
i think it's the same issue.  i do not see any labels or anything close to "taredo tunneling" on mine.  maybe it's the same thing or even related; i have no idea. however it is the same error and everything else is the same also.
the info on the one i'm referring to is under the network adapters section of the device mgr.  name: 'microsoft tun miniport adapter #2' - i get the 'yellow triangle(!)' symbol.  when i open its properties under device status it says the same as yours: "this device cannot start. (code 10), click "check for solutions"...".  i do & i got a pop-up that says that it couldnt upload the driver software....  under the driver tab i get the same info, date & version as u: provider: MS, date: 06.21.06 & version: 6.0.6002.18005.  i click the update driver button & the result is that it appears to "be up to date".
i've had a few wireless network connectivity problems but i have no idea if it is even related to this since problems usually go away alone or if i do a router|ip address reset until it happens again.
yours is the only entry that comes up on the hp search here. it doesnt even come up in the troubleshooting | support | drivers | updates | etc... sections.  i did one online but the stuff that came up was so complicated that kind of made me wanna run away screaming!!
on my very brief online search last year, it appeared to be a pretty common problem since there were many entries of people asking for assistance and no answers or if there were any answers or "solutions" there were not helpful at all.  i'd like to know the reason why if this is such an important|common issue, even though is from a MS adapter, it's happening to HP pcs, nbs, etc & i shouldnt be surprised by HP's reaction & @ least some "feedback" on this matter.  but really i just cant understand why their support team or "experts" havent written anything about it or at least shown that theyre making a little effort to find something instead of showing that theyre clueless about this issue as well as many others.
if u heard anything or know how to solve it or where i could look for a solution, would u plz reply?
    thx so much!

  • HDX X16 bios problems

This is quite a frustrating issue.
A while ago  I gave my old HP HDX-1255EE  to my parents (Recovered it to factory settings with Win. Vista)
after a month or two they complained about it not booting. I just got to the device and as far as I can see, the device does not POST. It turns on, gives me 2 Caps/scroll lock blinks, then shuts down, turns on again, and blinks at regular intervals indefinately.
I have downloaded the bios file from here
    http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/previousVersions?softwareitem=ob-78776-1&cc=us&dlc=en&lc=en&os=21...
from that extracted 3610F32.fd and renamed to  3610.BIN, put it on a flash drive and tried this guide
    http://forum.notebookreview.com/hp-compaq/304332-c700-cq40-cq45-dv4-dv5-dv6-hdx18t-insyde-bios-recov...
    However, no joy,
the device does nothing, the LED on the USB drive flashes once the device turns on and then it turns off. the device continues to blink.
Also it used to give me 3 lights, after reseating of the RAM modules it turned to 2.
    Thank you for your help

Hello mo-yi.  I understand you've gotten the two blink flashing CAPS LOCK error.
I took a look at the link you provided and it does appear to be the same process suggested by the HP document on the subject (click here).  I suggest you read over the instructions in the document I linked to and verify the steps are the same.
If you're still unable to restore the BIOS then it is likely that it is too corrupted for this process to work.  In that event you'd need to have the notebook repaired.  You can contact HP Support at 1-800-474-6836 in the US/Canada or visit HP Support Worldwide if you're in another part of the world.  You could also possibly take the notebook to a local computer repair center but I'm not 100% sure if they'd be able to perform this repair or not.
If you have any questions please don't hesitate to ask.  Have a great day!

  • S/PDIF HDX X16-1180EZ?

    Hi Guys,
I´ve bought a HDX16 and I´m really happy with it.
But I didn´t found out yet, if it has an S/PDIF or not.
    Cheers.

I´ve also read the spec in which is written that it works with an replicator so I was really wondering, if it´s only available in that way.
Otherwise I´ve to buy an USB one, as my AVR doesn´t supports HDMI
    Cheers

  • Recovery HP X16-1160us

I have a HP HDX 16 that came with Windows Vista Premium.  I have run the test and says that hard drive 1 has failed. How do I replace the hard drive and find recovery disks? I get either an error 100a or 1012. I have checked the HP site for recovery disks and they don't appear to be available. I am not under warranty and the recovery disks I made at purchase do not work. I live in the middle of nowhere and have to try to fix this myself.
    product HP HDX16       p/n:NB128UA#ABA         model:X16-1160us

Here are the original factory specs for your HP HDX X16-1160US Premium Notebook Computer. You can order HP Recovery Discs directly from HP at Vista Home Premium 64b SP1 + Supp 1 Recovery Kit or from third party vendor ComputerSurgeons.com at 514181-001 Vista Premium 64 Bit SP1 + Supp 1.
Please see the HP HDX 16 Maintenance and Service Guide for instructions on accessing the hard drive. Replacement hard drives should be 2.5" SATA2 500GB 9.5mm tall (5400rpm or 7200rpm). Try to avoid using "AF" (Advanced Format) drives, as the HP Recovery Discs aren't usually compatible with them.

  • HP Designjet 750C with Windows 7

    Hi,
    My situatuion;
    I own an HP Designjet 750C, which still works great.  The trouble is the printer is discontinued and no driver is provided for my Windows 7 x64 Ultimate.  There is no way I can afford a replacement right now, so I do the following;
I have XP Mode (Virtual Machine) installed on my HP HDX X16-1155CA notebook.
I have an older version of Civil 3D (my main design package) loaded on it.
I have the plotter installed on this XP machine.
To plot I have to open up my virtual machine, open up Civil 3D, reload the drawing and plot.
    My questions;
    1. Is there any way I can install the printer onto Windows 7?  Maybe a driver I don't know about?
    2. If the answer to 1 is no, Is there a more efficient work around you might be able to think of?
    Thanks in advance.
    Warren

The XP 64 bit driver from here works well in Windows 7 x64.  Unzip the file to a temporary directory, then go to the Devices and Printers folder, Add a Printer, select the appropriate port, then select Have a Disk and point to the folder where you unzipped the files.
By the way, this forum is focused on consumer level products.  For the Designjet you may have better results posting in the HP Enterprise Designjet forum here.

  • Windows seven recovery /install

    Windows seven recovery
Hi everyone I had a question that I’m sure has been answered many times, I’m new to these forms so give me a break lol. I just bought a HDX x16-1353 and I made recovery disk in vista. I really enjoy the fact that after the install Hp software kicks in and installs all the necessary drivers. What I don’t like is that fact that is it a factory image, so once installed you have to update everything again (HP programs, drivers). I’m planning on buying windows 7 ultimate and I’d like to install fresh in this manner, how do I do this? Must I install windows 7, then download each driver form hp and then make a recovery disk? Or is there a way i can install windows 7 and right at the end of the install have HP software take over like my vista disks and finish the install with everything i need. I also don’t want to include certain progs like Norton. Let me know what you guys think
    Thanks

Assuming you plan on purchasing Windows 7 Ultimate Upgrade, you would begin a "clean install" by booting to your Windows Vista desktop.  While at the desktop, insert the Windows 7 Ultimate Upgrade disc in the DVD drive and select Custom Install (this begins the process for what is essentially a clean install of Windows 7).  After the installation is complete, visit the Windows Update web site (the Windows Update icon will be in the Control Panel) and click on Scan for Updates.  Install all the updates, then visit HP Support & Drivers to download any additional/available Windows 7 drivers designed for your specific HP computer model.
After you are satisfied that your computer is completed updated, you can create a System Image of your hard drive using the tools available in all versions of Windows 7.  For details, please see:

  • HP HDX 16 Display Not Working

My 3.3 year old HDX 16T-1000 CTO Premium Notebook PC's display no longer functions.  Upon cold boot, the display nearly always comes on but flickers at about 1/2 brightness.  If I twist the display, sometimes I can get it to come on at full brightness.  Upon letting go though, the display goes black.  The only way I can get it to turn back on is to put the notebook to sleep and then wake it up.  The display comes back on for about 2 seconds (mostly at 1/2 brightness) and then goes black again.
I do get a normal display when I connect to an HDTV via the HDMI output.  HP's techs had me download and reinstall the chipset, NIVIDIA video driver and BIOS software.  This made no difference whatsoever.
Since I can get the display to turn on intermittently, could the problem be just a worn video cable or something more serious?
    Thanks for your help!!!

Don't buy a used screen, you don't know how many miles are on it and they can very can become scratched getting out of there. (as I said it's not easy).
Did you check what your native resolution is, I would be very curious to know ?
     Here are some from e-bay.
     http://www.ebay.com/itm/16-LCD-SCREEN-HP-HDX16-HDX16t-WUXGA-1920x1080-NEW-2CCFL-/160432003564?pt=LH_...
     Yours is probably this.
     http://www.ebay.com/itm/NEW-HP-HDX16-X16-16-Laptop-Glossy-LCD-LED-Screen-OEM-Samsung-LTN160AT02-WXGA...
This one is interesting, the seller claims that he has a cable to go from CCFL (cold cathode fluorescent light) to LED (light emitting diode). This is not possible as far as I know, but maybe something has changed, I am going to look into this and report back. (may take a few days)
Its resolution is WXGA, which is 1366 x 768.
If this would work, you wouldn't need an inverter any more and it comes with a new cable, the down side is that it\s not 1920 X 1080.
     http://www.ebay.com/itm/Samsung-16-Laptop-LCD-Screen-LTN160HT03-WXGA-1920x1080-Glossy-hp-hdx-16-/220...
This one is CCFL 1920 x 1080, but it's only a single lamp, from what his picture shows anyway. There are two wires coming out of the bottom of the screen _ red and white. Which is for one lamp, if it had both red and white & black and blue then it would have two lamps.
     http://www.ebay.com/itm/16-LCD-Screen-HP-HDX-X16T-1000-WUXGA-FHD-DUO-CCFL-/120697754048?pt=LH_Defaul...
     Here's one with a 2 year warrantee !
Some of them ship from China and that's OK because they're all made in China anyway, in fact you probably get a better deal getting where they're made.
3 years for a laptop before a component goes (even a major one like the screen) isn't bad. There are many people here where the thing quits just out side the warrantee. My old dv7 that I gave to my mother is still plugging along and it must be at least 5 years old. All she does with it is surf the net and buy things.
My custom built dv8 was close to 3 g's and the WiFi card went a couple of weeks ago and it's now a few years old (guessing).
Things made in China can be good or bad, it depends how the manufacturer (HP) directs them to build it and how much money (at cost) goes into it. China may have a bunch of screens available that may look the same on the outside, but the materials and build quality may be different.
To save costs and make money HP may choose the cheaper ones.
I don't have any proof of this, but it probably is the way things are run.
HP did not become a multi billion dollar company by putting the most expensive component's in their devices.
Also note that the link I gave you for the cable is a used one, not new. It's getting difficult to find a new cable for the HDX 16 series and the ones that supply it want any where from 50 to 100 bucks.
