TV tuner problems on Toshiba 40E220U

I can only get 12 local channels using an UHF/VHF antenna, and because these are HD channels there are only really three channels.  I tried three separate antennas and got the same results.  I used the same antennas on two other TVs and got all (46) of the local channels. I even moved the Toshiba model 40E220U model to another room where the other TVs picked up the other channels and got the same 12 channel results.  Is there solution for this problem or is my tuner bad?

Just to note:
there was also problem with network (not detected).
Reclamation was necessary.
There was no similar problem with returned motheboard.

  • Toshiba 40E220U 40" is Dead !

My Toshiba 40E220U 40" Class 1080P LCD is dead, will not turn on,,, no lights, sounds or anything when I hit the power switch.  You can here the  plug  'click'  when plugging in, so 'something' is drawing current. I got a used power board and tried that,,,, still nothing,,,,just wondering If I should try the controller board, any  thoughts on how many times I try to fix this TV before setting out at the curb ? This showed up after a thunderstorm,,, so it may have gotten a 'zing' of  lightning,,, even though nothing else in the house was affected,,,, nothing,,, plus it got through a surge protector , which I am not a real fan of anyway, as they cannot prevent a surge that comes into the house from a nearby lightning strike, that travels into the house via the neutral/ground .

yup,,,, that is a solution, perhaps,,,, very hard to find anyne who will repair TVs anymore,,,,and,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, I can get another power board for 30 to 50 bucks,,,,,,, but,,, my first attempt at that was an Ebay board for 25 bucks,,,,,,now  not saying Ebay is a bad place for parts,,,, but with electronics,,, it is always a crap shoot,,,,,I was in a sense, using the money to pay a repairman, to 'try' parts instead,,,, so far not working out,,,,,
the controller board is a littel more $$$$$$$,,,,,, but in my shade tree mind,,,,,, since it will not turn on,,, and the on/off switch being part of the controller board,,,,, I was leaning towards that,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, was hoping someone had this same problem and had a fix that worked for them,,,,,,,,,,,,,,
thanks for all your tips,,,, not sure what I will do yet,,,,

  • Toshiba 40E220U - Only shows in black and white

I purchased a Toshiba 40E220U a few weeks ago and tried using it with my Xbox and it will only show in black and white.  The Xbox has all the updated cabling (red, blue, green instead of the red, white, yellow combination).  I can't seem to figure out what I am doing wrong and why it won't show in color.  Any one have any suggestions?

When you press the INPUT button on the remote to cycle through the inputs, is "ColorStream HD" listed? Is "Video" listed?
The Xbox is connected using 5 cables, correct? Red, blue, green, white, and red?

  • Will 40" Toshiba 40E220U TV work in India?

I bought a 40" Toshiba 40E220U TV in USA,will this TV work properly in India without any issues.

Nope. TVs built for the U.S. market use ATSC for their TV signals. In India, the TV signals use the PAL format. Unfortunately they are not compatible.

  • Toshiba 40E220U and Xbox 360

    SO Happy 4th everyone!! :-)
I just purchased a Toshiba 40E220U 40" tv. super excited. be here tomorrow night.
My question is, I wonder where the red, yellow and white cables go from my DVD player to the back of the TV
and, I assume that I just hook up the hdmi cable from back of Xbox 360 to the back of the TV and that's it? Do I need to make any changes on settings? I guess all this will make sense when I get it set up! :-)
    thank you so much
    Robert
I am the Way, the Truth and the Life. Nobody come to the Father but through Me. John 14:6

It might be late, but happy Fourth to you as well! By now you've likely already been playing with the TV for a few days, but I thought I'd explain in case you still needed help.
For the Xbox 360, indeed, that's it! For your DVD player, there is a setting you'll have to switch. That TV uses a shared component and composite connection.
You may already know this, but composite cables use red and white for audio and a yellow cable for video. Component connections use three cables for video rather than one. The TV has the five jacks for component connections. When connecting something (like your DVD player) with composite, you'll connect the audio cables like normal and connect the yellow video cable to the upper-right (green, I believe) video port.
Then you'll need to go in the "Preferences" menu and change "AV Input" from "ColorStream HD" to "Video."

  • TOSHIBA 40E220U SOUND PROBLEM

Whenever I'm playing NBA2K12 [XBOX360] on my tv and pause the game and then unpause it, the volume jumps up and becomes very loud for 5-10 sec. and then goes back to the normal level. This is very annoying and i have found no solutions to this problem, this is not the game because it happens with 2K11 also. When I hooked it up to my SONY downstairs everything works fine, so I know its not the console or the game. Tried resetting to factory defaults, changing outputs, changing from component to HDMI, tried fixing sound balance, audessey abx, and basically anything else you can do. Still no solution. Please help.

You may want to contact customer support at (800) 631-3811. I'm not familiar with this problem and don't have a solution to offer.

  • Qosmio G30 TV tuner problem

    Dear All,
    Notebook Model: Toshiba Qosmio G30
I have formatted notebook and installed Windows XP pro, I did my best installed all drivers and programs. I began to test notebook, I have seen one problem TV tuner. As we know before in notebook was Windows Media center edition. There we can easily use TV tuner with default soft.
My question is that, in WINXP PRO, how can I use TV tuner? Antenna cable and other issues already solved. When I am pressing TV button in notebook no reaction. Please assist me to use TV tuner. In Drivers CD I have installed all drivers and programs, but still no reaction.
    Waiting your feedbacks!

    Hello guys
It is very interesting discussion and I just want to write my comment about that.
I dont know Ilyas what are you doing and for what is your company specialized but I dont agree with you. I will not write now about Toshiba notebook but about notebooks generally because all notebooks manufacturers have the almost the same policy.
All notebooks have sticker where is written Designed for Windows XP. That means all of them MUST work well with this OS. Microsoft has designed media center edition for multimedia units that allow watching TV and also many other functions. Notebook manufacturers are responsible for own hardware and it MUST work under WXP (in this case media center edition). You have bought MULTIMEDIA notebook and after first start I believe it was everything ready for use. Am I right? Or you have found something dont want to work?
Every manufacturer (electronic, card or something else) support just delivered product. If you make some changes and there is no original condition you can not expect the product manufacturer is responsiblefor that. Last week I bought sport outside mirror for my car. It doesnt match 100%. What you think, who is responsible for this, car producer or tuning-company? Car manufacturer is not obligated to test all tuning parts available on the market. The same situation is if you use some third part applications and see it doesnt work properly with hardware.
Please be a little bit realistic about that. I am pretty sure you can configure your Qosmio G30 to work well with WXP Pro but you will discover that some functions can not work like with factory settings. Sorry but you must live with this. If you find out which application for watching TV works well please let me know.
    Good luck!

  • Multiple Problems with Toshiba Satellite A505-S6980 laptop??

    Hi,
We purchased the Toshiba Satellite A505-S6980 laptop at Best Buy about a week ago.  However, we seem to be having multiple problems with it, that I wouldn't have expected from a brand new Toshiba.
    Problems:
Whenever I'm in Mozilla Firefox browser, it crashes 90% of the time.  Firefox was always my favorite on our previous computer, and still is, I just can't use it because it continually crashes.
In Outlook, whenever I try to open a message or reply, or basically any general command, it pops up an error message that says, "Could not install the custom actions," and then does whatever I'd wanted it too.  It's a pain, as we do a lot of email and calendar through Outlook.
In Outlook, when I tried to import our Contacts, it says that we do not have the appropriate permissions to access the files.  We are the only user account on this computer.  We don't do seperate ones for each family member; we just turn on the PC.
It seems to me like the internet crawls on this computer.  Every time we try to play a video (e.g. ABC, CNN, Youtube), it won't buffer.  It just stops and starts all throughout the video about every 3 seconds.  HUGE nuisance.  We watch a lot of videos.
Minor issue:  In Firefox, before it has crashed that is, on my old computer I used to be able to type "cnet" without the quotes into the address bar, and it would take me to www.cnet.com.  If it couldn't find the page, it would take me to my default search engine's page (Yahoo) with the search results.  On this one, if I type anything into the address bar (like search terms/keywords) it bring up search results with a My Start Incredimail search engine.  I want my Yahoo search engine, and I want it to find the page if it can.
I cannot seem to get the Aero Flick (I think) to work.  That was one of the main things I was looking forward to, but I can't figure out how to do it.
It seems to me like the Windows Explorer freezes a lot.
There have been multiple times when I'm typing that the keys don't work.  Like I would have to press the A key about 10 times to get it to show up on the screen once.  It's hit and miss and doesn't do it all of the time.
This isn't a problem - just a question.  Is it best to leave the computer plugged in all of the time if it's stationary?  Or once it's fully charged, should I unplug it and let the power run down, and then re-charge it?
**CLARIFICATION:  It's not Outlook Express, it's Microsoft Office Outlook 2007.  The one that you have to pay for.  Surely it works with 7, considering it's Microsoft?!?!
If you can help me answer any of these problems/questions, I would really appreciate it.
Have a safe and Merry Christmas!

Yes, everything was fine with Firefox.  However, I have uninstalled it, and am just using Internet Explorer for now.
    Thanks for battery info...
I'm well within the return window, but overall really like the laptop.  I've put a lot of time into it, and just want it to work right if possible.
    Thanks for the info.
ScottinFla wrote:Concerning Firefox, have you checked your add-on list for any faulty plug-ins or extensions? Try disabling them and see what happens. Also, that search engine you mentioned may have somehow been installed on your machine. Have you checked the "Manage search engines..." window available from the search bar? Check your add-ons as well. You could always reinstall Firefox from scratch.
As for the battery, it may not be best to continually run down the battery - followed by a long charge. Once a month or so should be fine. Otherwise, just try to give the battery some exercise every now and then.
Are you still within the return window? Your unit may have a bad install, some bad RAM, or...
I have the same model and it works just fine.

  • Persistent blue screen of death problems on Toshiba laptop pc; need help

    hey, guys,
I was hoping you could help me out here.  I have been experiencing persistent blue screen of death problems on my Toshiba laptop since December 21 of 2014.  The first two times I started having theses persistent issues, I downloaded a bunch of redundant programs and games onto my computer, some of which were virus infected.  I had these programs on my computer for a while before my laptop was taken in for repairs.  I eventually uninstalled some unnecesssary programs from my pc, hoping it would have fixed these issues, even tried windows update.  I didn't have a clue that my problems were due to virus infections/malware until the two most recent times my computer was taken in for repairs; I had always been thinking it was a defective driver.  My laptop has already been in for repairs at least twice due to these perpetual BSOD problems; I had Norton Internet Security installed on my pc before the Geek Squad team (who repaired my computer and found 312 traces of malware in my system during the virus test; I was told by them that I had mistakenly downloaded infected web browsers onto my pc) switched me to Webroot SecureAnywhere (they said it was better at detecting viruses/malware than my NIS), but even after my pc has been through repairs twice in a row, I am still experiencing blue screens (this only seems to have happened once each week, and on one occasion, I went through almost two weeks without it occurring).  I am pretty sure, that I haven't downloaded anything onto my computer infected with viruses/malware (each of the scans done by my Webroot antivirus have found nothing), I have only a few games/apps installed on my pc, and what I downloaded all came from Microsoft's official website.  I can't afford to be wasting any more money on repairs, and I am desperately searching for any possible way to fix this myself.  Any help would be appreciated.  I have a copy of two of the memory dumps from my most recent crashes (I also have the dump reports from my most recent crashes dating back to March 6; I got these from an app from NirSort called Blue Screen View, if you need those)  I also have my system specs:
    http://1drv.ms/1I6AsaE
    http://1drv.ms/1Qdsb7T
Note that many of these earler dump reports (the ones from March) came from viruses.  The ones from most recently as last month, I am not sure about.

Thrashing about this way gets us nowhere.
Best to restore the hard disk to its original out-of-the-box contents.
Settings > Change PC settings > Update and recovery tab > Recovery tab > Remove everything and reinstall Windows
Use the freshly restored machine for a day or so before any installations of hardware, software, or updates of any kind. If you get no crashes, the problem is not likely due to hardware.
Then add updates and other things slowly, keeping track of them. If you get crashes after that, give us the corresponding dmp files.

  • Problem with toshiba 1405-S151 will not boot up.

    Hello everyone!
Just wanted to hey! and introduce my self, I have 2 Toshiba aptops, a 1405-S151, and my newest L355-S7905, but my problem is with S151. Lights come on fans runs, but will not boot up bought a new harddrive old one shut down.
    Can some one help?

It sounds like a hardware problem since you are getting no boot, no video and no DVD eject. Make sure that this is a computer problem and not something else. Remove ALL attached devices to the computer, including printers, USB devices, external keyboard and mouse. Remove the main battery. Remove one of the RAM memory modules, so that there is only one RAM memory module in the computer. Try turning on the computer. If there is still no boot and no video, exchange the RAM module and try again. If it still doesn't work, disconnect the power cord, reinstall the main battery and try powering on computer using just battery power. If the computer still doesn't work, you are looking at having the computer fixed at Toshiba-authorized repair center. There is a listing for the repair centers on this website. If there are no repair centers in your area, you can always call the Toshiba Call Center at 800-457-7777 and arrange to have the computer sent to Toshiba's repair depot.

  • EZ Vinyl converter to I Tunes problem

Hello, I am converting my old LPs to MP3 using an ION turntable and EZ Vinyl converter software. The turntable combined with the software records the music fine, when I click to finish, the software automatically transfers to Itunes....so far so good. But when the Itunes program is opened a box comes up indicating that EZ Vinyl Converter is "UNABLE TO EXPORT TO I TUNES.PLEASE MAKE SURE YOU CLOSE ANY ACTIVE WINDOWS IN I TUNES"
What happens next is that certain tracks are exported to I tunes, but some are missing and most of the ones that are exported are duplicated. Any ideas anyone ?
    Many thanks.

Thanks for your input ed2345. As I explained Audacity is complicated but you can record simply without having to wade through reams of instructions, the only thing is that LPs are recorded as one file or song, so when you transfer to ITunes it is treated as one song, so you cannot search for each individual track as you can if you load a CD to ITunes.
There is a ficility on Audacity to have a break between each song so you can then search each track individually, but then that means you have to learn the editing side of Audacity and here lies the problem for me. I have spent the last 4 nights in bed for at least 30 minutes each night reading the Audacity instructions and I am only 10% through them and to be honest I am no farther ahead.
On the EZ vinyl converter software that is so simple, there is a facility when recording the make a marker at the end of each track so then a new file or track is started.....the only thing is EZ Vinyl converter software has a problem at the moment !
Anyway, here I am with 100s of LPs and not able to listen to them yet.
    Many thanks.

  • Mythbackend and hauppage USB tuner problems

I'm coming from using ubuntu for the last year and I've switched over to arch around a month ago. Everything on my server is running nicely and I've learnt more about Linux in the last few weeks than I did in a year of ubuntu, but I've got one last little problem I can't wrap my head around.
Please bear with me because I'm no where near my pc ( and won't be untill the weekend, but I've got remote ssh access to it if needs be )
with ubuntu I've been using a hauppage wintv nova T500 pci and a wintv USB stick. The pci card mounts itself as 2 USB tuners. I've loaded the firmware for the tuners (they both use the same firmware) and they show up when I check lsusb and dmesg.
I've tried mythtv from the repo and mythtv .22 built from the aur, both are giving me the same problem.
Mythbackend is loaded as a daemon in my rc.conf file and it loads fine but then errors out as it can't find any tuners.  the only way I can get myth to work is to unplug the USB tuner and pci card, remove mythbackend from my daemons and when I start the pc up plug the USB tuner in after I get to the command prompt then manually start mythbackend. This way it works fine everytime but I can't use the pci tuner as I don't fancy plugging that in while the pc's on
any help would be Appreciated as it's driving me nuts, I can grab any logfiles anyones after once I finish work (posting this from my phone at work)

  • I tunes problem driving me mad - please help

Hi, I've just got a new laptop and have installed i-tunes on it. I have copied all my music to the hard drive from my previous computer and i-tunes has has automatically placed all of the music in the i-tunes library. The problem is that for some reason the library is showing 3 copies of each song even though there is only one of each on the hard drive. i have tried removing i-tunes and reinstalling but it is still happening. i have looked through the i-tunes settings but can't work out why it is happening. i dont want to have to go through the library deleting songs as it would take forever...
Has anyone else had this problem? any help would be greatly appreciated
    Thanks

sometimes different songs are placed under one name and also it looks through multiple directories.try to single the folder out for music and then it might work
    hope i helped.

  • TV tuner problems - can anyone help??

I have recently bought a second hand MSI/Time Computers Media center, the operating system had been wiped by the seller. the machine is basically an MSI Mega 865 with an nVidia FX5200 graphics card with TV-out and an unidentifiable TV tuner card - more of that later.
I have loaded to the machine a new/legal OEM copy of XPMCE 2005, and on startup it displays a notice that the Media Centre has experienced a problem with the TV capture device and is disabling it. I have tried TV tuner  drivers from MSI, nVidia and Time computers but all give the same response. a couple of them appear to fit and show no conflict in 'device manager', but they all elicit the same response.
The TV tuner card is 'green' in colour as opposed to the usual MSI 'red' and bears the number MS 8610 (this also the FCC model number), it has a std coax TV, s-video and audio in sockets .
Can anyone point to the correct driver for this card or is the whole thing a lot more labyrinthine than I realise.
    Yours bemused.
    Mark H.

I wonder if the card is made especially for Time Computers? I imagine that the unit is made under contract by MSI for Time because the front is a modified version of  the standard Mega unit ie the knob is on the right. In that case the driver would be on the http://www.timesupport.co.uk site, but I have tried all three there to no effect.
Is the setting up of the driver to card relationship more critical than I realise or should the XPMCE setup wizard take care of this.
I will try the drivers you suggest.
    Thanks.
