Tv wont power in takes several attempts
Hi I got a toshiba 32" tv from carephone warehouse with my mobile contract.
Literally for a week it was fine but since then when we power off (standby or via plug) it takes sever attemps to get it on-somes 30 mins plus. The red light will flash to green abd itstill wont power on. When we do eventually get it on it goes off as soon as I touch any button on the cable remote and we have to start again. Sometimes itll come on but with no sound and sometimes itll come on but keep going off and restarting. Ive had the tv 3 months. I contacted toshiba and tgete were useless basically was told factory reset which did nothing or call out a tech. Why should I pay a tech to fix a 3 month old tv. Ive Google'd and kniw others have had similar issues. Any advise?
Thanks
It does sound like it needs repairs. It should still be under warranty.

My iPad air slide to unlock is difficult to use. Takes several attempts.
IIPad Air slide to unlock takes several attempts to open.
THoughts? Hard reset?Ok I'm now a firm believer in using Apple power adapters. The above mentioned iPad air was connected to a 3 plug/USB Belkin power adapter. Tech support suggested plugging into apple adapter. If that didn't work do a restore.
knock on wood the Apple adapter fixed the problem.
Wondering how and why? power requirements of the iPad? USB on Belkin was interfering? -
Macbook Pro issues, Randomly logs me out, takes several attempts to boot from sleep
Hi there,
I bought my macbook pro (2013, I5) about 9 months ago. Recently I've been having issues where start-ups will take several attempts before I can finally load my desktop. Coming out of sleep, oftne times I can't move my mouse or type into the password box, the screen will then go dark, I hit escape to bring the login screen back up but once again I can't do a thing. This will happen a few times until I can finally get in.
In the last week as well, I've had a few occurences where I'll be in the middle of typing out a word document, and I'll get logged out for no reason. Luckily I can recover my work but it's stilla nuisance.

I have taken it into the genius bar for all this, and the laptop cleared all their tests, so I have no idea what to do. Any help is appreciated!BUMP.
I actually showed this to Apple geniuses when I took my computer to the apple store, and it's still here. In console it says:

I don't know if that's related or not, but maybe helps? -
My imac G5 isight September 2006 hard drive takes several attempts to mount. When it does it works fine. Is there anything I can do to repair or do I just abandon it and sell it for parts?
It's an Intel iMac the last G5s were built in 2005.
How to identify iMac models
1. Go to: Apple > System Preferences > Startup Disk and check to besure the that OS X 10.6 on the Macintosh HD is set as the Startup Disk.
2. Start up from you Snow Leopard Upgrade DVD, navagate to Utilities > Disk Utility and Repair the Macintosh HD.

Macbook struggles to boot up, takes several attempts
Hello,
My Macbook (2,1) has been going strong for a good 4 years now. It has a 1 year old hard drive and brand new battery. Recently it has suffered from a new problem. It takes several tries to boot up- several meaning anywhere from 1 to 15 attempts, most often somewhere in the middle.
This does not appear to be a power issue. The computer shows signs of life on every attempt: the disk drive will make noises, the power indicator light will be lit, and I may or may not be able to hear the fans and/or the hard drive. However the display shows nothing and all I can do is turn it off and repeat. The computer often sounds very dead on the first try, and after a few power cycles I can hear it getting closer and closer before it finally manages to boot. There is sometimes a startup tone, usually not. Sometimes it will begin to boot but then revert to this unusable state shortly afterwards- but in this case it almost always boots successfully on the next try. Once the computer is warmed up it will run flawlessly for hours on end, and rebooting is no longer a problem until I've left it off for a period of time.
My gut is that this is a logic board issue and that the only solution is to replace it. But I'd love to hear any input from anybody who has experienced this sort of thing.Try the Apple Hardware Test (AHT) to hopefully see what might be wrong....run the extended set of tests.....

.....you might want to try an SMC reset....it has been known to sort out power issues...

Mac Pro 3.1 struggling to power on (takes multiple attempts) PSU?
Hi,
Apologies if this has already been answered in other forums, I had a look but couldnt see anything specific.
My 2008 MP has been giving me some very frustrating power on problems over the last few months. (probably around 3-4 months TBH)
I switch it on and it starts to power up but will switch off at varying points, sometimes its before the apple logo appears on the screen, sometimes its just after that, other times it gets to and past the log in/password screen.
When it first started happening it would only take a few attempts to get it powered on fully and once on, it works fine and stays on with no trouble.
I am paranoid to switch it off now as the last two times I switched it off and powered it back on it took over 20 attempts and the last time it was over 40.
It kind of sounds like it is struggling to get enough power to drive the things that are needed to get it going (almost like a poor battery in a car on a winters morning), which of course makes me think it is the PSU that is weak.
I'm no expert and this is totally a hunch.
I do not want to throw much money at it as I am probably looking to upgrade to the new MP when released and settled down but I can't leave the machine on indefinitely.
The boot drives are SSDs if this is of interest to anyone, I havent tried unplugging any external devices to see if this solves the issue as truth be known I just don't think it would power back on if I swithced it off again.
I would love to hear what you think, also if it were likely to be the PSU, how much would one cost apporx in the UK and where would I get one from, I'm happy to put a good 2nd hand one in.
Thanks in advance,
JasonIf you have RAM that sometimes shows as less than what it should be, start removing and replacing. FBDIMMs do fail, the longer the more likely. 8 DIMMs is ideal, gives 15% boost. Might be late to the table to invest $40?
if you have an SSD, what make and model and firmware version. And you have multiple, well a stripe? only that does not really help the system performance except larger volume. TRIM probably will not work wtih software RAID.
2008's do seem to be problematic with powering up. Which was why there were EFI and SMC updates to 'cure' the freezing on wake from sleep of early first edition 3,1's - firmware updates are never as good as new boards, chips, and factory firmware it would seem. Waiting 3-4 months after new models come out usually skips those issues.
People have swapped out PSU. The GPU in the 2008's should definitely be replaced if it is OEM, or even if it is 8800 or 4870 probably too. Sometimes just GPU dust. -
Why does it take several attempts for my WiFi/Airport to work on my MacBook Pro?
When I open my computer, I usually pull up Firefox right away, and it works. But since I installed several software updates ("Airport Utility" Version 6.0, "Mac OS X Update Combined" Version 10.7.3, "Thunderbolt Firmware Update" Version 1.0, "MacBook Pro EFI Firmware" Version 2.3, and "MacBook Pro SMC Firmwar Update" Version 1.5), my internet takes forever to become active. Here's the thing, it SHOWS complete connectivity on the Airport, but the internet doesn't work. I have to open up Safari, go to Network Diagnostics (where it says "Your internet connection appears to be working correctly"), then re-select my Network on the Airport's drop-down menu, and re-fresh my internet page 7-8 times, and then the internet just works!
It's not my ISP, because this has happened on 3 different networks (home, school, and at a friend's).
Someone help me! What can I do to fix this? Do I need to un-install one of those updates?
Thanks!Yikes! That's a bit scary! OK, I will give it a shot tonight.
Is this a common problem, not having the iPod be recognized when connected? If so, if this the standard protocol for correcting it?
Thanks for your patience and help

Monitor takes several attempts to turn on
I have a new Mac Mini connected to LG flat screen monitor by thunderbolt to VGA cable. On start up I have to turn the monitor on and off several times before it stays on?
Hello Vascof,
I understand that you are having issues with a particular monitor displaying all of a sudden. I am providing you with some steps to try below:
*** Please stop following the steps when the issue is resolved.
Step 1. Unplug the power cord from the monitor and the outlet
Step 2. Hold down the power button for 1 minute
Step 3. Plug the power cord back into the monitor then the outlet (not a powerbar or surge protector)
Step 4. Press the Menu button on the front of the monitor
Step 5. Navigate to the Factory Reset and select it
Step 6. Use the HP Support document: Using Microsoft System Restore (Windows 7) to restore back to when it worked
Step 7. Contact HP Technical Support for repair options

IMac 7,1 takes several attempts to start - black screen - some noise
Hi, I've experienced some issues with my 3 year old iMac.
Some days back it wouldn't completely wake up from sleep, that is the fan was spinning but the screen remained black. A manual restart solved the issue.
Since then it has become more and more difficult to start up the iMac. Usually, I press the button, the fan starts and, I believe, so does the HD, there is that chiming noise and that was it. On the screen nothing happens, it remains as black as it is when it's off. And the Mac definitely does not boot since there is nothing more to hear and after some time the fan stops.
Multiple retries have the same result, but after 6 to 10 attempts the screen would come up and with it the iMac boots up. When it's running there have never been any issues whatsoever.
I've tried booting from CD/DVD with the same result. I've resetted PRAM and cut the iMac from the power source for some time. Apple hardware check tells me everything is ok. I tried different RAM but to no avail. (Usually I have 2x2 GB, I tried 1x2 GB in either of the slots and 2x1 GB which was the original configuration.)
What is strange though is that if I start the Mac and leave it like described (fan spinning, black screen) for a couple of minutes and then switch it off and immediately on again, it boots up nicely. So to me it looks that "it needs to warm up first". But that can't be the solution.
Any ideas would be welcome.Hi, check out your StartUp Disk (MACOSX) in System Preferences
Reboot holding down the “D” key (diagnostic) 2 levels, run them both..
Did you have Applecare? if so as you maybe just past the end date but Apple might well help you..L -
Every time I try to use bookmarks It takes several attempts. Even if I wait till the URL appears I still get what is behind that selection( Fox news story normally) It takes as many as 5-6 attempts to get the bookmark selection to work. Its not transparent. It just does not work. I have the latest updates. This started about 2 months ago and is getting worse. I have cleared every thing I could to try to correct it. HELP!
'''Try Firefox Safe Mode''' to see if the problem goes away. [[Troubleshoot Firefox issues using Safe Mode|Firefox Safe Mode]] is a troubleshooting mode that temporarily turns off hardware acceleration, resets some settings, and disables add-ons (extensions and themes).

macbook pro 15" mid 2010 i spilled water on keyboard now it wont power on if the battery is connected and the keys on keyboard doesnt work it works fine with no battery and external keyboard if i order a battery and new keyboard will every else work again lik it did before
If you have records that show that you've taken your MacBook Pro in for a year to fix the machine, I would escalate the problem to Apple Customer Relations - unfortunately I don't have a number for Spain.
It would only seem logical to me that if you've been trying to have the machine repaired during the time that the 'recall' was in effect that you should be eligible for a new logic board. But only customer relations will be able to make that call.
Good luck - take the issue as high up the food chain as you can and see what happens.

Hi
My Macbook Pro 15 inch takes several minutes to be able to connect to the internet after waking from sleep. Does anyone else have this problem and is there a fix?

The message that comes up when I click on "TomTom Home Install" is "You cannot open Home Install because Power PC applications are no longer supported." Does this mean that the TomTom, which is absolutely vital to my life - well, not literally but you know what I mean - can no longer be used with my MacBook Pro?
What that means is that is can't be used with Lion 10.7. PowerPC was the chip Apple used up until 2006 when they switched to Intel. At that point, they created the Rosetta emulator to allow for PPC support for 5 years. They finally dropped the support with the release of Lion. It will only work with OS X 10.6 or earlier. The other option is to purchase a new GPS, which can be had for $100 for a decent one. -
T430s Takes Several Minutes to Shut Down
Hey all,
I've got a T430s running Windows 8.1. The machine runs great and boots very fast (probably helps that I bought an SSD); however, when I shut down, it takes several minutes (5+ minutes) to fully power-down. The screen goes black, but USB devices continue to have power and the fan still spins until finally it powers down. The same issue happens when I close the lid and put the machine to sleep.
Before anyone blames Windows 8.1: This didn't happen right after I upgraded to 8.1. It seemed to start several days after the 8 --> 8.1 upgrade, and I'm not sure what variable changed to cause this.
Any ideas? Thanks!Nothing in either the System or Application logs that would indicate that there were any problems shutting down. I can see where User32 indicates that the "power off" shutdown has been initiated, then about 5 more log entries in System after that, all of which appear to be normal (i.e. related to services shutting down). The time on these records are all within a few seconds of each-other. I don't see any outliers that are a few minutes out (i.e. things logged several minutes after the shutdown).
One thing I did just notice is that I see the following Critical notice from Kernel-Power after booting up from shutting down:
The system has rebooted without cleanly shutting down first. This error could be caused if the system stopped responding, crashed, or lost power unexpectedly.
So it's not even going down cleanly. But I still have no idea what the offending driver/service/app is. -
I recently bought an iphone off Ebay, the seller said it was broken and described the problems too me, the phone in my view is fixable. The main problem i have is that the phone wont power on unless it is plugged in on charge. This is where it leads onto my next problem. there are a lot of ways people are describing to restore the phone if it doesnt work. (Hold down power and home, let go of power then it goes into a certain mode which it will let it restore then connect to itunes.) My problem is that to do this i have to be connected to itunes to get it to this stage.
the battery isnt the problem I have been told as the previous owner said they had replaced the battery already to see if that was the problem but it clealy wasnt.
