TVARVC table entries

Guys,
I've created a variable entry in TVARVC table and want to access that variable name in Variant of a query.
I created an entry in this table using STVARVC transaction and i can see this entry in SE16 list of TVARVC table. Somehow it's not available in Variant Attribute screen even though i select Selection Variable type = 'T'.
Do you have any idea, what could be the problem?

Thanks for your reply.
I tried with all options of Parameter and Select-Options, nothing has worked till now.
Strange thing is, I have already used the same thing at my earlier client but it's not working right now.

When ever you have set of values for one field and you want to check in the program that variable exist in those set of values, you can use TVARVC table....
In that table you have to create a field and enter the set of values..in that using sm30.....
let me give you an example....
let us assume that Hub/Site has following values Z01, Z02, Z03, Z04, Z05.
in my logic i have to check that hub/site is present in these set of hub/site or not.....
so i will create a field named as ZSITE in the TVARV.
Run se11..enter table TVARV...
Press 'content' or Cntrl + Shift + F10......
press F8....
Now here press F5...
here enter ZSITE as variable name...
S or P as Selection cat.....
press Save......
now goto SM30 maintan the table....
there select .selection option tab...
then F5....
add the new field ZSITE....here
then in option column select '='.....
in the multiple selection column enter the values Z01, Z02,Z03,Z04,Z05....AND SAVE.....
now u can check in table TVARVC not in TVARV.....
there under name type ZSITE....you will get all the values in LOW column....
now for using them in program you have to fetch the data from table TVARVC where name = ZSITE
and type = 'S' .
thats it.....
using this logic u can create the varient...

Creating Transport Request No for TVARVC Table Entries?

You can do it yourself, no need to waste any Basis time.
Go to transaction STVARV -> Maintain mode. Before you create a new entry or change an existing entry tick the checkbox at the top of the screen labeled "Include changed entries in transport request". Then select the row which you want to transport and create/change the values, then hit 'Save'. You'll see the system will pop-up a change request dialog box where you can now save your entries.

Dynamic value in TVARVC table for standard report

I am trying to archive objects like FI_DOCUMNT. For this purpose I want to create dynamic variant for the date. ( Date not in complete format) yyyy/mm.
So, I created an entrie in TVARVC table, and I linked it with the attribute of my variant by choosing "T" option.
My question is, how Can I fill the dynamic value for TVARVC entry?, knowing that it a standard report that is responsible for archiving.

Update TVARV table entries using a Function Module or Program

My requirement is that I have a entry in TVARV table which has a 'low'. We would like to change this value whenever we desire. We are unable to do it via sm30 and se16 as table maintenance access is not permitted in Production environment.
Can you please provide any Function module or program code to do it?

Please refer to SAP Help for more information on variant maintenance and more specifically variable values in variants. You can use t/code STVARV for maintaining the variant variables in table TVARVC (Client-Specific Variant Variables).
Note: I suggest to use the TVARVC table instead of TVARV.
If you are looking for Function Modules in the area of Variant Maintenance, then please have a look at Function Group SVAR (t/code SE80).
If you are looking for Function Modules in the area of User Variables in Variants, then please have a look at Function Group SVUV (t/code SE80).

RFEBKA00 multiple file postings - modifying TVARVC table structure

I have requirement to write a bespoke program that will pick up multiple MT940 files from a directory AL11 and submit them to the report RFEBKA00.
I am doing this by putting the file path and file name into a TVARVC variable and using this in the RFEBKA00 variant.
However the TVARVC-LOW can only handle 45 characters where my file path including the name is more like 70-80 characters long so the TVARVC variable is being truncated to 45 characters.
I do not really want to bespoke the receiving program (RFEBKA00) to handle multiple TVARVC entries and concatenate the strings together. The only other option I have thought about is modifying the TVARVC structure.
My question is:
What would be the implication of modifying the TVARVC table structure to increase the field lengths of the low/high to say 100 characters to handle the filepaths needed in this case?

You should not modify the standard SAP DDIC objects.
Also, the table will be used in so many reports/programs,etc. and it may happen these objects iwll not work after your changes.
the first approach is quite safe though or you may create a new custom table

This table is used to store the hard-coded values for a program. So that all the hard-coded values in all the reports/programs will be available in this table and when ever they need to change the hard-coded value they simply go and change the entry for that particular program and for that [particular variable available in that prgram

Table entries not getting displayed in desired format

In my adobe layout I created a table . I used data format Align Right and align middle for the table entries. In the Output some entries of the table are not displaying in align right and align middle.

That is pretty to much information to help you.
You need to share your technical setting. How did you create the table? Subforms, Table-assistent... what are the values in? Format, what happens when you also pass more than 1 digit to the numbers in the first row, does it show up correct?
So please share more details and explain exact what you have tried to fix the issue. The community is able to help you, but not meant to suggest enaything you could have done.

Right way to preserve all parent table entries in a join with many tables!!

This problem is quite interesting to me. I have asked this question to others but no body is able to provide me with proper answers.
The problem is: How do I join a huge parent table with many child tables (more than 5 child tables) preserving all of the parent table entries. Lets say there is the parent table parentTable and three child tables childTable1, childTable2, childTable3. In order to get the data after joining these tables the query that I have been using was:
select parent.field1, parent.field2, parent.field3, child1.field4, child1.field5, child2.field6, child3.field7 from ParentTable parent, childTable1 child1, childTable1 child2, childTable3 child3 where parent.fielda = child1.fieldb and parent.fieldc = child.fieldd and parent.fielde = child.fieldf.
Although the tables are huge (more than 100,000 entries), this query is very fast, however those parent table entries which do not have child entries are lost. I know that I can left join a parent table with a child table and then with the next child table and then with the next child table and continue. Isn't there a simple solution for this commonly happening problem?
Please provide suggestions please...

Although I do not know exactly how to achieve what you want to achieve but I have seen DBAs/ABAPers in my experience can run queries/scripts using the COUNT function to give the actual number of line items per table for all your 100 or odd tables.

Look via SE11 lock objects, use F4 for tables MAR*, the best for your request is on MARC table with object EMMARCS, so use FM ENQUEUE_EMMARCS and DEQUEUE_EMMARCS.

Deletion of table entries(without maintenance view) in production

here i have got a task to change the data type of one particular field and to delete all the table entries of this table in production.
so in Dev I have tired with z program saved in local object (DELETE FROM Table).
i just want to know how i can delete all the entries of table in production.

Hello,
You can also use transaction SE14.
Start SE14
Enter the table name
Select the radio button "Delete data".
Push the button "Activate and adjust database".
This will drop your table in the DB and recreate it as well as all related indexes.
Indexes are not impacted when you do a regular DELETE statement unless you rebuild your indexes.
Of course you can only do this if data can be deleted for a specific table in ALL clients.

I am getting an error while downloading table entries from webdynpro to excel. After some entries below error script comes and this is not comming all the times.

Doubt in customizing request with respect to table entries

Hi All,
I have a doubt in customizing request with respect to table entries.
Suppose I have a customizing request with respect to a table that contains say 10 entries in the development system.
Now I am transporting this request to the quality system in which the same table contains 20 entries.
When I am transporting this table from the development system to the quality system, will my 10 entries in the development system get added to the 20 entries in the quality system or will my table get overwritten in the quality system.
What difference will this be if it is a workbench request ? .

So if we are transporting contents of a table from one system to another, it should always be a customizing request and not a workbench request right.
If the "Delivery Class" of the table is 'C'(Customizing table, maintenance only by cust., not SAP import) it will ask for a customizing request.
If it is 'A'(Application table (master and transaction data)), it will ask for Workbench.
To add to your previous qn, when you transport the entries to subsequent system it will always check the KEY FIELDS and then update. If you see a transport, then the table entries are represented by their key fields.
If you create new entries in your table and transport, it will add the records. Else it will modify them

i want to know the changes made to the customized table. i have a 'Z' table in my production system, in that table i would like to know whether any table entry is deleted or not. if at all there is any deletion happened, i want to know who had done it.

Go to Table Maintenance (SM30)- Display mode-- Utilities-- change Logs. Give the Date range. before giving the date range click on display status , this will show you If the display is active or not. Kindly please let me know If you need any more information on this.

No table entries found for specified key

Hi All,
I have developed a program to upload data from flat file with the help of GUI UPLOAD. It is succesfully updating data in my Z-table.
Whenever I tried to view the content of table for specific field, message shows No table entries found for specified key. However if I add * as a suffix, it shows the data & when I directly Execute table it also displays the data.
I have also cross checked the spaces before or after the specific content, no space found.
Only two fields are creating this issue Individually (one of them is key field)
