Twain drivers interface under photoshop CC with Epson Products

Could i ask if there is solutions to get back the twain drivers we have in the past into photoshop
where this one is going away,   why does we have to use no WIA extensions ( not able to do multiple scan)
i could understand that it can be solved when epson will release a x64 bits drivers
but what's happening for  old printers or multifunction
and how to get interact with them  with a professionnal interfaces for setting options
as like resolution, size, contrast and more
thanks in advance for answers
only using Epson solutions for solving that one case
thank you

ok thanks in advance for answering, the way is that before there was one with each epson printer included
what was my surprise with windows 8, there's a lot that change for printer management
i will try your lucky one : vuescan   but if i'm not wrong that's not for free.
Epson interfaces  yes !!
hope they will do one

  • Problems printing from photoshop CS4 with epson R2880

I just purchased an epson stylus photo R2880, I thought it was broken due to the fact that I could
not make prints from photoshopCS4.... it goes through all the motions and when its time to print, the soft ware just stops and nothing happens, no warning window, nothing, just no print, I have been three days with epson support by telephone and we have gone through every  possible scenario. I have repaired permissions, I have repaired the disks, I have reinstalled all drivers and I can  print
from iphoto, from epson software, Lightroom and from preview but not from photoshop, I am at my wits end...I have my agent in Italy asking for three new portfolios and I cannot deliver. please help
    Browser: Safari
    Operating System: Macintosh
Printer model / driver version: epson stylus photo R2880

In conjunction with Jeff's suggestion, I suggest that you remove all of Epson's preferences for your preference folder especially if you are experience some other issues with other software. And especially if you have 10.6.1 installed.

  • Is CS5 extended compatible with Epson products? I cannot select printer settings.

I've had this problem for a very long time with multiple Epson printers. This problem only applies to Adobe products as other image editing software work fine. The printer settings button does not work in Photoshop so I cannot select paper type or any of the other settings. Adobe blame the problem on Epson and Epson blame the problem on Adobe but the bottom line is, I'm left holding the bag as I paid a lot of money for these products and they don't work together. At least Epson will answer the phone and try to help. Adobe do "NOTHING" for you! I've been on here before with this problem with my last Epson Printer. It was a Stylus Photo 1270 and I was told by some wise guy that "it was a 13 year old printer, what do I expect." Well I have a brand new Epson R 3000 and I have the same problem. I'm using CS5 Extended and have all the latest drivers. Here is a link talking about this problem but it doesn't give any solution that works for me: Print settings option unavailable in Print dialog box | Photoshop CS5. I've already done everything it says here! Typical of Adobe ducking their head in the sand! I can get the print settings on other applications like Preview (no problem) which Epson claim, proves the problem lies with Adobe. An Adobe tech. told me on here (last year) that the problem was with Epson as they have to write the driver software to the application (Photoshop), yet Epson claim that the problem is not in the driver but in the application itsalf. Adobe will just bury their head in the sand and act like nobody is home!
Really sick of this crap, neil.

Thanks for getting back to me Gene. I will give that a try if I continue to have problems, but I have found a workaround solution, or at least discovered a glitch. Like I said, when I click the "Print Settings..." button, it fails to open up a Print Settings window, so I have no way of choosing the paper etc.. However, If I switch it from "Photoshop Manages Colors" to "Printer Manages Colors" and then back again, I can then click the "Print Settings..." button and it will open up a Print Settings window (go figure?). If I were to guess I would put the blame on Adobe's printer interface, not the print drivers from Epson. Like I said, this problem has been haunting me for a while on numerous printers. It's intermittent so sometimes it works alright and I forget about it, then it comes back, but now I may have discovered a workaround.
    Cheers, neil.

  • Photoshop CS3 with Epson Stylus Photo 1400 and Mac Leopard

I have Adobe Photoshop CS3 and an Epson Stylus PHOTO 1400 printer and Mac OS X 10.5.4.
When I print a photo it comes out with excessive ink which smears very easily and has lines in it. It only does it in Photoshop. When I print from any other program it comes out fine. I've seen reviews online where people have printed from Macs and photoshop onto the printer and it worked. I've already contacted Epson, but they said to contact Adobe. Does anybody have any advice?

    Forget Epson's useless tech support.
What you describe is typical of improper printer profile or usage of non-Epson paper, especially paper with gloss. Have you profiled the printer/paper and are you using Epson paper (or other paper and profiles specifically recommended here for Epson photo-quality printers) properly selected?
Like Ramón I am on 10.4.11, not 10.5.x, but I doubt if your described problem is due to the OS version.

  • Twain Drivers Are Not Recognizing my LiDE 100 Scanner in Photoshop CS5?

This is my first post, mainly becuase I'm stumped on every front to this problem, just bought myself a new 17" Macbook Pro the other day and immediately started to update all my drivers, through on Photoshop CS5 among a few other CS5 programs, but this is where things got hairy...
Since this is a 64 bit intel mac (Snow Leapord) , I went over and decided to download the TWAIN plugin, dropped it in the Import/Export plugins folder, went to the Adobe Photoshop app folder and happily clicked boot as 32 bit... aaaaand... NOTHING.  It didn't see my scanner, and my scanner is a Canoscan LiDE 100, not that old.  I've already had success doing this with Win 64 bit as long as I opened a 32 bit version of Photoshop, but no luck so far on the Mac.  The scanner works fine with Image Capture so I know that he scanner is alive.
I've tried rebooting, finding other TWAIN plugins, even out of curiosity I've toggled between 32 and 64 bit Photoshop to see if the Scanner could be recognized.  I know I could scan using Image capture, but I'd rather get this problem sorted out.  I know that in some cases people boot using Rosetta, but this scanner isn't that old so I don't think that would be the problem.
If anyone has any advice, it would be greatly appreciated, and I realize that sometimes the most simple answer is the one that's the most easily overlooked, and I'm hoping that's the case.
    Thanks everyone!

Scanning with TWAIN has become increasingly buggy.
Why not just use the Epson scanner software that came with the scanner?
That way you can continue to use Photoshop while using Epson to scan.
There are more features available from Epson than with Image Capture.
However, if you feel the need to use TWAIN, here is the link for Mac CS5 plugin.
Five seconds with Google would get you this:

  • VBA code to import scanned images into Photoshop CS2 with TWAIN

    Hi,
I have to develop a solution that automates the scanning of an image using the TWAIN driver interface. Once scanned, the image appears as a new document in Photoshop where it will be further processed using VBScript scripts.
    The solution so far :
Using the freeware 'EZTW32.dll' (copied into C:\WINDOWS\System\), I am able to open the TWAIN scan dialogue on screen, using the function 'TWAIN_AcquireToClipboard(Me.Hwnd, nPixTypes) from the 'EZTW32' dll.
Once the image is scanned, the TWAIN driver is automatically closed, leaving the scanned image on the Windows clipboard.
I then launch Photoshop CS2 using a shell code :
(It is important that Photoshop runs minimized)
    Dim strPathname As String
    Dim lngShellReturn As Long
    Dim appRef As Object
    Dim newDocRef
    strPathname = "C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Photoshop CS2\Photoshop.exe"
    lngShellReturn = Shell(strPathname, vbMinimizedNoFocus)
    Set appRef = CreateObject("Photoshop.Application")
When Photoshop is running, then a new document is created and the scanned image is pasted into the document from the Windows clipboard...
    Set newDocRef = Documents.Add(8.268, 11.693, 600, "New Doc")
    newDocRef.Paste
OK, this works up to a point. The newly scanned image appears automatically in Photoshop.
The big problem is that when the user makes a change in resolution or draws a selection box in the TWAIN dialog, this data is not recovered from TWAIN, so the image size parameters in the new document cannot be set.
A beter solution would be to write code that emulates the menu commands in Photoshop CS2:
File -> Import -> [Current Scanner]
that launches the TWAIN driver for the current scanner (the code must close TWAIN immediately after scanning). In this case, the resolution and image selection parameters are also imported into the new document.
I am currently refering to the Photoshop CS2 SDK. Do I need to request the Advanced SDK ?
Once beyond this point, then I think I can continue the image processing routines using VBScript as per the SDK.
Any help or other pointers to the TWAIN problem would be VERY APPRECIATED !
    Lars

PLEASE IGNORE MY PREVIOUS POST !
I have now fully resolved the TWAIN problem. It works perfectly and is very robust. I am now continuing with the batch image processing for the newly scanned images using the Photoshop CS2 SDK scripting documents, that I find very detailed, well written, and VERY helpful :)
    Peace and love,
    Lars

  • TWAIN interface for Photoshop CC

Is There a TWAIN interface for Photoshop CC?  I've looked everywhere on the web and can't even find a mention of it.

    Acceuro wrote:
The WIA (Windows Image Acquisition) Support selection for scanners is what you use.
Depends on the control you want over your scan. There's a reason I prefer TWAIN over WIA, and I'm very sure that's what Steve wanted, because he can see the WIA option next to TWAIN.
    1. WIA uses a common dialog for all devices while TWAIN uses a dialog created by the device manufacturer.  Practically speaking, this almost always means that the TWAIN dialog will provide more options and advanced control over the device.
    2. TWAIN allows you to use custom capabilities that the device manufacturer has created even though they don't exist in the TWAIN specifications.
    3. In general, when a device supports both Twain and WIA, TWAIN is better for scanners and WIA is better for acquiring images from cameras and video devices.
So with that in mind, I gave him the free answer for 32-bit Photoshop CS6. Adobe's own Twain plugin.
However there is no free TWAIN software for 64-bit Photoshop. My recommendation was for the paid 3rd party software, Vuescan, that supports both 32 and 64 bit TWAIN operations in Photoshop for just about any scanner out there.
I'm not trying to ruffle feathers, but this entire thread sounds like an advertisement/spam for Vuescan, which is purchase-priced software.
It isn't. We have forum moderators and if that were the case, it would have been deleted 10 months ago.

  • Printing with Epson 2880 after Apple Software Update of Epson Drivers

I'm wondering if anyone else has noticed the loss of "Print Settings and Color Management" controls in the print dialogue when printing from Lightroom or Photoshop after the recent Driver Update (which appeared in Software Update.) Prior to the Update which I had been avoiding until it came down when I updated iTunes (again, Software Update) all print options were available with the Epson software. Oddly, if you elect allowing the printer to control the output the color and color settings are available but if you set the (Lightroom or Photoshop) dialogue to the paper profile then the color and color settings are grayed out. I talked at length with both Epson Tech support and went through the drill of removing and installing the printer and installing the newest drivers (from Epson) and nothing changed. I talked with Apple and again, nothing changed inspite of various adjustments. This is just a little disturbing since I do a considerable amount of photo printing.
Any thoughts or opinions would be appreciated.

I'm going to make an additional comment to my question and that is, strange as the behavior is, this may be a normal function with the update. Although during my roughly hour talk with Epson tech support, the rep was not aware and gave me reason to believe what was (not) happening in the software was in fact wrong. Clearly, the new print dialogue with it's grayed out settings is different from the previous print dialogue and print settings. If you now use a paper profile - regardless of manufacturer - the software assumes you are going to turn off color management - which is absolutely correct. Although I have not tried it, I am led to believe from some material I found deep in Epson's Support, the "color" area in the print dialogue no longer permits electing printing in "advanced" Black and White. More correctly, inorder not to have B&W grayed out you must be using glossy paper and the correct black ink cartridge is in the printer. This isn't a bad idea but sometimes I find the image is better with a Matte paper. Obviously you can, and I have, printed in B&W - you just have to be aware that within the Color settings of the print dialogue you no longer have the "option" to select B&W or advanced B&W. In some strange ways the new dialogue and settings areas of the Apple print menu for the Epson printers is simpler but it does come as a surprise when you first struggle with the changes.

  • Large Photoshop file with many under layers

    Hey guys,
I'm a bit confused right now. I want to animate an application in After Effects and have a large photoshop document with many layers.
After importing it to After Effects by choosing "editable layer styles" I get a composition which holds many other compostions in it.
When I animate the main composition it works fine but if I edit an under compostion afterwards my main composition is kind of overwritten. And I have to to this cause I want to fade in and fade out elemtens from those under layers.
    My animation goal:
I have an accordion menu that pops up after "clicking". In this menu there are several points that you can choose. All these points are on under layers in my photoshop file. The pop up menu works fine, but if I change some points it affects also my main menu.
"Startscreen_final" is my main composition, "Medikamente" my under layer as you can see in the two screenshots.
Can anyone help me? Hope you understand what I mean:-/
Thanks a lot for your support :-)

I think Mylenium is right.  I would rebuild your project in AE.  It shouldn't take very long provided you do it a certain way.  This is the workflow I use when I know my project is going to be huge and the psd has too many layers...
First open your project in Photoshop and make sure you've combined as many layers as possible so you're only dealing with the layers that you'll actually need to animate.  Then I would go to File - Scripts - Export Layers to Files and choose the following settings...
    1.  Make everything PNG-24 so that it has Alphas and make sure transparency is selected.  (PNGs are very good quality and much smaller than TIFFs.  They will make your entire project run way faster than if you were working entirely with TIFFs or especially a PSD with pre-comped PSDs.)
    2. Turn off "Trim layers," otherwise it will trim the edges of the unused portion of the canvas for every layer and make each of your pngs the size of the actual content instead of the canvas size.  Of course if you trim them, it will make the images smaller and therefore your project will run even faster.  But, the downside to this is you'll have to really rebuild and re-position everything.  In your case, you probably want it to be the original canvas size so that you can just drop everything into AE and you won't have to worry about scaling or re-positioning.  You will of course end up having to animate the full images of the smaller objects with the large empty Alpha layer around them instead of using trimmed ones, which might make animation a bit annoying, but it depends on you.
    3.  Finally, select "Visible Layers Only" so that only the groups you have turned on in Photoshop will be exported.  This way you can take the exported group of images into AE and check it to make sure it's pre-comped the way you want it before you bring in more groups.  I would personally do one group at a time, setting them up by parenting and linking all the layers in each one before moving on.  If you need to bring a bunch of stuff in at once so you can parent and pre-comp previously grouped layers together, I might also suggest using shy layers to help keep your master comp organized.  (If the organization of your psd is fine to begin with, you can also just go in and replace everything with PNG-24s for improved speed.)
I'm not sure how big your entire project is, but I've rebuilt huge projects this way before and I've always been much happier with the results.  Things run smoother and it makes the entire process of animating more organized and enjoyable.

  • There is no 64 bit TWAIN plug-in for Photoshop CS5?

I have downloaded the PSCS5OptionalPlugins_Mac_en_US dmg and opened up the "Optional Plug-Ins" and there is no TWAIN driver for 32_64bit.
My Epson Perfection 4990 Photo works fine stand alone. I installed an upgrade for it (the driver) so I have the latest and it is suppose to work with 32 or 64 bit. Photoshop CS5 does not recognize the 32bit_only version downloaded plug-in when I copy it into the Plug-Ins/Import-Export folder.
So how can I get my Epson to be recognized in Photoshop CS5 under File -> Import.? I did have it working in CS4 but CS5 needs a 64bit version and I don't see how to get that and I'm stuck. Would buying Silverfast bridge this problem?

To have this option simply eliminated doesn't make Ps easier to use for those who scan this way.
Just to be clear, this option has not been eliminated in Photoshop; you can still scan directly in Photoshop within the constraints I've mentioned elsewhere recently, but will post again:
    (1) You need to install the optional TWAIN plugin, which you can download from the Adobe web site. This plugin is not installed by default. Make sure you have the correct TWAIN plugin, the TWAIN plugin from CS4 will not work in Photoshop CS5, and vice versa.
    (2) In Photoshop CS5, you can scan in 64-bit mode if you are running Snow Leopard (10.6.x), and the scanner manufacturer has released a 64-bit compatible TWAIN driver. So far, most TWAIN drivers are not 64-bit compatible (the only ones I know of are for more recent Canon scanners.) Check the scanner manufacturer's web site for the latest information. You can launch Photoshop in 32-bit mode to use a TWAIN driver that is not 64-bit compatible.

  • Difficulty  Printing Borderless Prints with Epson C84

When I had an iMac G3 with OS 9.2 and used the Epson menu for printing, I had no difficulty printing 4x6 inch borderless prints (since that is one of the options on the Epson Menu). But now that I am forced to use the OS 10 printing menu, even when I identify the printer as an Epson C84, crop the photos to fit a 4x6 page and show "0" margins on all sides when selecting 4x6 as paper size, using either iPhoto or Photoshop Elements 3.0, the prints come out with a small white border on all four sides. The Apple Menu with Epson as the chosen printer does not give me an option that says "4 x 6 borderless" when choosing the paper size. Is there something I need to set differently in order to get borderless prints?
    hk Jones

I also had a problem finding the "Borderless" option in the print dialogue. Here's what Epson Support told me to do -- It worked perfectly. I can now print borderless from either of the two macs sharing my Epson 1280.
To correct the issue you are experiencing, we will perform a complete

  • Twain Sane Interface for Mac O SX

I installed the libusb.pkg, sane-backends.pkg and TWAIN-SANE-Interface.pkg on my IMac because I could not get my Canon CanoScan Lide 35 to work injh Mavericks with Image Capture. I then discovered that there are no drivers available from Canon that actually allow Image Capture to work my scanner and have ordered a new Epson XP-312 printer/scanner. What I would like help with is whether it is OK to leave the packages that I installed on my computer or, whether I have to find them and remove them?

    Hi Carolyn
I am not sure if these packages were drivers or not?  My scanner always worked with Snow Leopard 10.6.8 and then when I installed Mavericks it no longer functioned through Image Capture because there are no software updates for Mavericks for my model of scanner.
Although you say that Image Capture does not use drivers I could still use the scanner through the Canon Toolbox on my iMac but Cannon and Apple Support both said that my scanner would not work through Image Capture in Mavericks because there were no software updates available from Canon to facillitate that model.
So, I need to establish whether the packages ( I described in first post)  I installed are drivers and, if so how I go about removing them?

  • Twain drivers

I have been told by HP tech support that I need to reinstall Twain Drivers (for scanning) on my Macbook Pro (OS10.6.8).  These drivers are located in the HD library under System, library, frameworks, Twain Frameworks.  MAC Tech support doesn't even now what Twain software is.  I need help trying to find the correct drivers for my system and reinstalling them.  HP says if you do not do it correctly it will cause a serious system issue.
    Thanks

Incorrect. That's Mac OS X's TWAIN interface. No TWAIN driver has any business there. But keep in mind that the tech support rep who's told you that was just reading off some memo, form, or script, which may have been poorly written, misunderstood, or mistaken.
I subscribe to Kappy's advice—get and install the latest drivers from Apple
    <http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3669>
If correctly installed (and if your device is supported), you should be able to access the scanner with Image Capture.
